Chapter 3: Crippling Depression

A/n: Next chapter! Oh boy!

(Y/n) POV:

Erigor:"Demon Slayer?" The dark wizard asked in confusion. This made me realize my mistake. I sighed and slowly landed on the railroad bridge.

"I kind of forgot. No one really knows about that." I admitted to Erigor. He tilted his head in still not understanding.

Erigor:"What?" He still was confused. I felt like giving up on explaining. The only people who ever knew that I had Devil Slayer magic was either dead or in hell. The ones in hell were the demons awaiting to come back. I pinched the bridge of my nose and gestured to the air.

"So you see, the only ones that really know about my special magic are essentially dead." I explained further. Erigor nodded before looking down at me from the air.

Erigor:"So what is your official title then?" He asked curiously. I scratched my chin in thought. Then I pulled out my notebook to check. Erigor gained a deadpanned look. After flipping through several pages, I located my name.

"It says here. My most famous name across the lands is..., the Laziest Mage In All of Magic History." I answered Erigor's question. He gave me a skeptical look before bursting into laughter.

Erigor:"Fairy Tail sent the laziest mage in all of history to fight me? Haha!" He erupted into uncontrollable laughter. I shrugged and put the notebook away. Inside was even an official document from the magic council given to me. I more or less accepted it. Erigor eventually stopped laughing and smirked at me.

Erigor:"Any other titles you would like to share?" He asked in a mocking tone. I shrugged.

"There's the Aloof Wizard, but the first one usually sells it." I replied. Suddenly, a burst if wind smacked me across the face. I flew back and landed flat on the bridge.

Erigor:"Fool! I've been distracting you the entire time to gather back my magic!" He exclaimed triumphantly. I sat back up and rubbed my face. That was going to leave a mark. I was going to retaliate, but forgot why.

"Why are we fighting again?" I asked the dark wizard. A sweat drop fell down the side of his face. He looked at me in disbelief.

Erigor:"Don't tell me you're brain dead as well?" The dark wizard asked in an appalled tone. I shrugged.

"I don't know. Just forgot why we were fighting." I replied. Erigor rubbed the bridge of his nose in annoyance before replying.

Erigor:"Lullaby. I'm using Lullaby's curse to kill your precious master." He told me with a frustrated tone. I nodded in remembering what was going on.

"Right....ninja star!" I quickly requipped my weapon and threw it. My ninja star flew through the air and lodged itself into Erigor's hand. He screamed in pain before falling down onto the bridge.

Erigor:"What the fuck?!?!" He screamed in a high pitched voice, while showing his injured hand to me. I shrugged and pulled out my book.

"It's requip magic. You know, Erza-"

Erigor:"I know Titania fucking uses that type of magic! My concern is why the hell did you throw a ninja star at me?!?!" He whined. I scratched my head in slight confusion.

"I thought we were fighting." I answered with uncertainty. Suddenly, twin vortexes of air began spiraling towards me. They collided into me, but I remained still. However, the air sucked up my book from my hand. I tried to reach out for it, but it was sent flying away.

'My book...' I thought to myself sadly. Then I peered through the vortex to see Erigor smirking victoriously. He just messed up.

I slammed my hands together, and a building sized magic circle appeared around where I stood. The wind that Erigor created had dispersed. I spotted Erigor in front of me and began my spell.

'Shuriken Storm Bringer!' I shouted the spell inside my head. Suddenly, thousands of ninja stars shot out of the magic circle in a vortex of air. They all aimed right at Erigor. However, he too had some tricks up his sleeve.

Erigor:"Wind Mail!" He shouted and manipulated the wind to create an armor all around him. They repelled my ninja stars and sent them flying away. However, both of our wind attacks nullified each other.

We stood across from and stared down at each other. Erigor looked ticked off that his magic was not gaining an upper hand on me, but I could care less. This even began to bore me because Erza talked about him being a reaper and all. You would figure that death would play a huge role around that guy.

Erigor:"Looks like you gave me no choice." He muttered and pulled out the Lullaby flute. I raised an eyebrow in curiosity at what he was planning. Erigor brought the deadly instrument to his lips and took a deep breath. I held my hand up to stop him.

"Wait." I told him to stop. He didn't play the flute and glanced at me. I sighed and began to speak.

"Which song are you going to play?" I asked curiously. He gave me a dumbstruck look. Just the distraction I needed. I requipped a ninja star and threw it at him. The metal weapon lodged itself into his other hand. Erigor screamed in pain, but still blew into the flute. It emitted a screeching sound that was out of tune. However, nothing happened afterwards.

Erigor:"How are you not dead?" He questioned angrily. I shrugged.

"Maybe because you didn't play a song." I replied with uncertainty. Unfortunately, playing the flute still caused something to happen. The sky visibly darkened and rumbled. This time, it wasn't because of me.

Large magic circles began to open everywhere. I looked around and counted about several thousand. Erigor looked surprised himself to see this happening. Suddenly, thousands of screeches filled the air. They were demonic.

Demons began to pour out of these dark magic circles. To think that a flute had that much power was pretty interesting. Guess it was the power of Zeref. Erigor looked around in surprise at first, but started to grin.

Erigor:"Uh oh. Looks like you have a little demon problem to deal with." He stated with a sneer. This put me in a slight pinch. We were next to a town built by the railroad. These demons would slaughter the townspeople. Erigor then began to resume his course of action.

Erigor:"I'd love to stay and watch you slay demons, but I have many guild masters to entertain with Lullaby. See ya!" He mocked before flying away. I then turned my attention back to the demons. More kept appearing. It was like those glyphs won't disappear. By now, there should be hundreds thousands of demons.

I cracked my knuckles and took a deep breath. The demon's screeches of fury began to mute. I knew some of them because they died by my hand. However, I was going to send them right back to hell.

Glyphs appeared in my hand, and black markings began to cover my forearm. I felt a surge of power that I haven't tapped into for a while. My eyes closed, and I began to concentrate. My magic energy began to combine with something I've harbored inside of me. Suddenly, I my eyes shot open.

The entire scenery around me turned blood red and black. The sky was red, while everything else was pure black. Only the demons illuminated purple in my field of vision. It was like I could see all of them even if they were hidden. No dark creature can hide from a Demon Slayer. Finally, my magic was all set, and I placed my hands together.

'Lightning...' I began chanting the spell inside my head. The demons saw me as the biggest threat and flew right towards me. Suddenly, a brilliant blue flash went off.

"Lightning Demon Storm!" I activated my demon killing spell. The blue flash died down, but it was replaced by millions of lightning bolts striking down my enemies.

Thunder cracked, as I watched each demon get smite by my lightning attack. One was struck in front of me and dissolved into ashes. This happened to each and every demon until there were none left. I then glanced over at the glyphs still present. If they remained open, more demons will just keep appearing.

I put my hands together again and formed another spell. The wind picked up and began to circle around the dark glyphs. They began to fade, as my spell was anti-magic.

"Wind Demon Bringer!" I chanted and the vortexes dispersed the magical circles. Sealing off Hell from Earth.

Finally, the glyphs around my hand disappeared, and I blinked again. The scenery returned to their normal colors. The dark marks on my forearm receded, and I saw my natural (s/c) color again.

I gently landed on the ground and stood still. That was when Natsu and Happy zipped by at sonic speeds. The gust knocked me backwards, and I stumbled a bit. However, I was still standing.

'Guess they're going to take care of Erigor.' I thought to myself. Immediately after that thought, a warm liquid began running from my mouth.

I reached up and touched it to confirm what it was. Just as I expected. Blood. It was foolish of me to use Demon Slayer magic then, but it was me or the townspeople. I fell to my knees and looked into the air.

My ears began ringing, and I could only hear the faint sound of my heartbeat. I knew what was happening to me. The effects for using too much Demon Slayer magic. The amount of demons I took out and to seal the summoning portals were equal to two wizard saints attacking with full strength.

More blood poured out of my mouth, and I fell onto my back. What also did not help was the use of Lullaby. Even though it was not an actual song, the effects still applied. I've only managed to resist it for this long.

My vision began to fade, but I fought to stay awake. I didn't feel like dying yet. However, if it meant that I've saved all these people as the result. I didn't care as always.

((Y/n)Dream POV):

I reopened my eyes to find myself standing in a pitch black area. My eyes darted around in search for anything, but I couldn't see anything but darkness. I attempted to create fire with magic, but nothing was happening.

'No magic. Okay...' I thought silently. This place felt cold and evil, yet very familiar. I took a step forward, and my foot actually found support. This area was really disorienting.

I was about to make another step, but I heard something. My head whipped around to find a short (s/c) colored girl standing in front of me. She had her head down, so I couldn't see her face. However, her (h/c) hair and tattered clothes were covered in blood.

Then my eyes widened in realization of who it was. Someone I didn't want to think about. I took a step back, but the girl took a step forward. We kept repeating the process, but I eventually backed up into an invisible wall. The girl stood in front of me silently. I finally gathered the courage to reach out for her, but my body froze.

???:"You did this..." An ominous voice whispered into my ear. I looked around, but only the girl was in front of me. Suddenly, she began tilting her head up. I wanted to speak, but my voice didn't work. The girl revealed her face, and it began to bring immense pain to my head.

I cried out in pain, but there was only silence. My body would not allow me to move. Suddenly, flashes of my memories began to appear all around me. I didn't want to look at them, but something was forcing me to watch.

???:"This is your fault..." The same voice told me with malice. I watched each memory unfold, and no words could describe what was happening. Eventually, I regained control of my body and swatted everything away.

It was silent again. I began to lose consciousness inside this limbo. However, I could still hear one thing before passing out. The faint screams of who I've wronged.

Timeskip brought to you by chibi (Y/n) comforting chibi Happy from a bad dream...

(Erza POV):

Gray:"Erza, look out!" He warned me frantically. My eyes shot awake, and I noticed an obstacle in the road. I immediately jerked the brake lever backwards to stop the vehicle.

The car skidded a few times and even hopped a little. My passengers all screamed in terror of falling off the bridge, but I wasn't going to allow that.

I requipped a long broadsword and stabbed it into the ground before using it as a pushing tool. It straightened the magicmobile, and we can to a complete stop. Everyone let out a sigh in relief.

Happy:"Was that a speed bump?" He asked curiously. I wiped my sweat away and looked at my companions.

"Is everyone alright?" I asked breathless. My magic energy was draining rapidly. Gray stuck his head out and gave me a thumbs up. I nodded and panted heavily. He gave me a concerned look, but then his eyes widened.

Gray:"Is that (Y/n)?" He questioned in disbelief. I turned to look at what I avoided. It was (Y/n)! However, something was terribly wrong.

He was lying on the tracks unconscious. I immediately yanked off the magical cord and rushed over to (Y/n).

'Why is he like this?!' I asked myself in disbelief. He was a powerful mage, so it was almost unreal to see (Y/n) in this condition.

I arrived and knelt my his side. (Y/n)'s eyes were clenched shut. There were minor scratches on him, but he didn't look injured. However, there was blood running from the edge of his mouth. I then placed my head over his chest and located another problem. His heart was barely beating.

Worry began to beset my calm demeanor. Panic filled my emotions, and I began to fear for his life. I've never seen (Y/n) in this bad of a condition. Fear of losing (Y/n) began setting in. Not helping was my friends who arrived to check out what happened.

Lucy:"Oh no! What happened to (Y/n)?!" She asked with shock. I grit my teeth and grabbed (Y/n)'s hand.

"Wake up, (Y/n)!" I yelled loudly and began to shake his body violently. Gray was about to stop my methods, but I saw (Y/n) stir. Suddenly, he opened both eyes and blinked a few times. I felt tremendous relief.

Gray:"Well that was easy." He said in confusion. (Y/n) blinked several more times before looking at me.

(Y/n):"Oh. Hey, everyone." He greeted casually. I glared at him angrily.

"How could you scare us like that?!?" I angrily demanded. He was about to answer, but I pulled him into a hug. His head clanged against my breastplate.

Lucy/Happy/Gray:"Oof." They winced in pain, but I ignored them and hugged (Y/n). I was worried sick about him.

Ever since he left to stop Erigor, I was unsure to how he fared. (Y/n) may be powerful, but his weakness was his laziness. If an enemy could exploit that, (Y/n) would be killed before he got serious.

I then let him go enough to look at his face. There was this blank look in his eyes. However, it wasn't the usual uncaring kind. It was like he was empty.

"What happened? How did Erigor defeat you?" I asked in disbelief. He raised a finger and spoke.

(Y/n):"Erigor used the Lullaby on me." He explained. We all gasped in shock. How is he still alive after hearing that?!

(Y/n):"However, I messed up his song. There were demons. I killed them. Natsu flew past and went after Erigor. Then the songs effect kicked in. Now I have..." He continued to explain, but trailed off in the end. We waited for him to continue. He didn't, so I shook him a little.

"What do you have?" I asked with worry. He might have gained a second hand curse from the flute or something along those lines.

(Y/n):"I have..." He trailed off again. This was starting to get annoying. Gray stripped his clothes and blared at (Y/n).

Gray:"Out with it already!" He shouted angrily.

Lucy:"Gray, your clothes." She pointed out. However, we were more concerned about what (Y/n) had to say. He finally finished his statement.

(Y/n):"I have crippling depression." He told us nonchalantly. We all sweatdropped, and (Y/n) passed out. An awkward silence passed with (Y/n) in my arms. I looked at (Y/n) and sighed. At least he was still alive.

Eventually, I picked up (Y/n) and carried him to the magicmobile. I set him next to Kageyama, and we all piled in before continuing on our journey.

Gray:"I can't believe (Y/n) is down for the count already." He stated in disbelief. I nodded in agreement, but remained silent.

Even though (Y/n) provided us with a silly answer, I had a bad feeling that something was very wrong. I placed my hand over my heart and clenched my fist.

It hurt me to see him this weak. Ever since I met him, he already stood out as strong to me. Despite his usual lack of any care for anything, I believe he does worry about everyone in the guild. He demonstrated that clearly to me when he and I first met.

Flashback...

I sat by the river all alone again. This time Gray had gone on a mission, so it was just me. He usually would bother me and not let me be alone, but now was different. Now my emotions were acting up again. I had began to cry.

I thought about my friends that I had to leave behind. It made my heart throb just to even think about them. I didn't want to leave, but it was for their safety. My heart just hoped that they were still okay, and that maybe one day they would become free.

However, my hope was fading each day that passed. I hugged my knees tighter and continued to cry. My emotions were let out silently, so no one could see how weak I am.

Suddenly, I heard someone sit down beside me. I turned to see the (h/c) haired boy who recently joined right next to me. In his hands was a book. He had a blank look in his eyes, but they seemed to be reading the book intently. I quickly wiped my tears to hide my weakness before speaking.

"What are you doing here?" I questioned in annoyance. This was the only spot that I could be alone. To not be strong all the time. The male tilted his head a bit.

???:"Reading." He answered bluntly. I blinked in confusion. He wasn't afraid of me. For some reason, this angered me a little. Only a few people have ever dared to be this brave to me. Most ended up all beat up.

"Go read somewhere else." I told him angrily. I expected him to protest or even attack me. Instead, he just stood up.

???:"Okay." He agreed calmly and began to walk away. I flinched in shock. This was not the response I was expecting. I turned around to see him slowly strolling away while reading.

"Wait!" I called out to him. The (s/c) male stopped walking and turned to face me while still reading.

"Aren't you going to argue or fight me?" I questioned in confusion. He shook his head.

???:"Unless you want to, otherwise, I find no point in it. Wouldn't you agree?" He answered and surprised me. There was no point in taking course in either of those actions. He then spoke again.

???:"Is there anything else you need?" He asked calmly. I stared at him for a bit, not responding. He waited patiently for an answer, while I was trying to come up with a response.

"No." I finally answered. The boy nodded and resumed his leave.

I watched him walk away, expecting him to head back to the guild. I was wrong. He veered to the right and went to another area beside the river. It was quite far away, but within shouting distance. The boy sat down beside the still water and continued to read.

I blinked a few times, still not grasping the situation completely. He did technically go away and gave me space. However, it was just enough to still be around me. It made me wonder why he was doing that.

I turned back and faced the river. Even though I tried to distract myself, I always ended up glancing over at the mysterious boy.

'I don't even know his name.' I thought to myself, but tried to distract myself again. Something was irking me about him. He managed to break every expectation I had about him just now.

Finally, I had enough and stood up. I walked over to the reading boy and stood in front of him. He seemed oblivious of my presence, so I decided to make myself known. With a kick. I went to kick him, but the unexpected happened again. He caught it.

???:"Why are you kicking me?" He asked calmly, and I froze in shock. He blocked my attack with such ease. Normally, no one would be able to resist my attack like that. I pulled back my leg and began apologizing.

"I'm sorry. I just wanted to get your attention." I apologized. He flipped a page in his book before speaking.

???:"By kicking me? Interesting." He replied. I blushed in embarrassment before kneeling on the ground before him.

"As a punishment, you can hit me." I told him and readied for an attack. A few seconds passed, and an attack never came. More time passed, and nothing happened. I opened my eyes and looked to see the (s/c) boy still reading. This confused me greatly.

Natsu, Gray, or Mirajane would usually jump to the opportunity to land a good hit on me. I would return it later in some form, but this person didn't do it. I stared at him in shock before speaking.

"Why did you not hit me?" I asked in confusion. He was about to turn the page, but stopped. Then the (h/c) haired male turned to look at me. His (e/c) eyes now looked piercing.

???:"Now why would I do that?" He asked back. I wasn't sure what to say.

"U-Um it's because I attacked first." I managed to form a response. He continued to stare right at me.

???:"I believe there's enough pain in this world. Don't you agree?" He replied. My eyes widened.

???:"If it means one less punch or scratch. I'm willing to let it slide. Because the ones that hurt the most, are what hit here." He continued and pointed to his heart. I continued to look at him in shock. It was like he understood the pain of this world. How cruel life could be.

I felt tears roll down my cheek. I didn't even bother wiping them away because I was moved by his words. Memories of me abandonment and loss began to cloud my hand. I felt my hand tremble on my lap. However, something surprising happened.

I looked down to see the boy holding my hand. He was looking at me right in the eyes. Usually, I would hit whoever that did what he was doing right now to me, but I didn't. Something about him was calming me down.

???:"You don't have to tell me what happened, but I want you to do this." He told me kindly. I slowly nodded in response. The boy removed his hand and flipped a page in his book. Then he turned the book, so I could see it clearly.

It was a picture book. The image he was showing me was a duck in a pond. I looked at it for a bit before returning my attention to th boy.

???:"Is he really an ugly duckling?" He asked randomly. My mind just stopped working. That was way too random for me to process. He pulled the book back and stared at the picture.

???:"It says 'ugly duckling', but I can't see how it's ugly. I was hoping to see if you knew." He continued oblivious to how crazy this whole ordeal was. I then snapped out of my confusion and angrily glared at him.

"IS THIS WHY YOU CAME OUT HERE?!?! TO ASK ME THIS STUPID QUESTION?!?!" I asked in a furious tone. He shook his head.

???:"No. I thought you could use some company, since all of your friends are gone." He answered calmly. I calmed down and felt surprised.

"R-Really?" I asked in surprise. He nodded and looked up at me.

???:"Would you like to help me solve the mystery of this ugly duckling?" He asked innocently. I blinked a few times in disbelief. I searched his eyes for any signs of lies, but he speaks the truth.

"You do realize that's a children's picture book, right?" I asked slight amusement. He looked back at the picture book before returning to me.

???:"I know, but it's sure a great story. Wouldn't you agree?" He answered without a care or embarrassment. I then couldn't help, but feel better.

"It is." I agreed and sat down beside the boy to read the story with him. Before he started to read, I stopped him.

"I'm Erza." I introduced myself. The boy looked at me with his (e/c) eyes.

(Y/n):"(Y/n). It's nice to meet you." He greeted back kindly before starting to read the story out loud.

While (Y/n) read, I would follow along silently. However, I did occasionally glance to look at (Y/n). He looked calm and care free. Even though he does look like that, I knew that he did care for me and everyone. That brought a smile to my face.

Flashback end...

'Just hang on (Y/n). Natsu, I'm counting on you to save master...and avenge (Y/n).' I thought to myself and blinked away a tear.

Timeskip brought to you by chibi (Y/n) beating chibi Natsu in a fight with one finger...

(Makarov POV):

I had just convinced Kageyama to not use the Lullaby curse. However, the demon sealed into the flute grew into a full sized demon. Luckily, Erza, Natsu, and Gray teamed up to kill the demon. Unfortunately, they destroyed the Clover meeting hall in the process! The magic council was going to be pissed.

Now everyone was celebrating a crisis averted, but one person. Actually, two people. I turned around and looked at them. It was Erza and (Y/n).

Erza had been reluctant to join the battle because of (Y/n)'s state, but had to protect her other friends. Now, she was at his side to the unresponsive (Y/n). I had a feeling about what caused (Y/n) to be in this state, but it was something I promised to not reveal to his friends. He said that he'd rather do it himself when it was needed.

However, I was starting to think when he wakes up, it's needed. Erza held (Y/n) in her lap, while he slept. She told me that his last words were odd. Indeed they were, but they were his funny way of telling the truth.

If (Y/n) did hear the flute, kill demons, then the effects of an out-of-tune Lullaby would certainly put a powerful wizard in this state. I'm surprised that he's still alive, but (Y/n) is extremely powerful. Even to a terrifying degree. Everyone is probably lucky that he's always so passive, and not wild like Natsu.

Erza:"(Y/n), please wake up." She said with a worried tone and looked down at (Y/n)'s unmoving body. I knew she had great concern over the mage. He was probably the only one ever to get Erza to act normal. To not always have her defenses up.

Lucy, Natsu, Gray, and Happy approached us. They looked at (Y/n) with worry as well. At least most of us.

Natsu:"Come on (Y/n)! You weakling!" He shouted and blew out fire. Erza shot him a murderous look. The dragon slayer wizard immediately hid behind Lucy. The blonde began yelling at him for using her as a shield.

Lucy:"Natsu, why don't you hide behind Gray?!" She asked angrily. Gray looked at Lucy in shock.

Gray:"Hey! I don't want to get killed by Erza!" He yelled in response.

The trio began to bicker like children among each other. I noticed Erza develop a dark aura around her. Happy noticed and tried to notify his friends, but it was useless. Erza readied to attack the immature wizards, but I saw (Y/n) stir.

Erza:"(Y/n)?" She said his name with concern and her murderous intent dropped immediately. This earned a sigh of relief from me.

Erza turned her attention back to (Y/n). His closed eyes twitched a little before slowly opening. Natsu and the others looked glad to see (Y/n) awake.

Natsu:"Told you yelling would work." He said proudly and earned dirty looks from everyone. (Y/n) fully opened his eyes and looked around.

(Y/n):"What'd I miss?" He asked casually. Suddenly, his head clanged against Erza's breastplate. We all winced at the sight.

Erza:"I'm so glad you're awake." The redhead knight said to the mage now suffering from concussions. (Y/n) reached around and patted Erza on the back.

(Y/n):"I am too. Now could you let me go? This armor hurts my head." He told Erza kindly. She let go and had a tint on her cheeks. (Y/n) rubbed his head and looked at me.

(Y/n):"Oh hey, master. How's it going?" He asked calmly. I chuckled a little and glanced at Fairy Tail's destruction.

"Peachy." I replied briefly and glared at the other wizards. They all laughed nervously, while (Y/n) was clueless to what went down. Then he nodded in understanding.

(Y/n):"They destroyed almost everything again, right?" He hit dead on. I nodded.

"Yep." I confirmed sadly. (Y/n) shook his head before looking at Erza. She still had a worried look on her face. (Y/n) stood up, face-to-face with Erza.

(Y/n):"You alright?" He asked calmly. Erza shook her head.

Erza:"I should be asking you that." She replied. (Y/n) shrugged.

(Y/n):"I'm peachy, but did you overdo it with the magicmobile?" He responded with a question. Everyone else nodded.

Gray/Happy/Lucy:"She did." They agreed in unison. Erza looked away in shame.

Erza:"I'm sorry. Please hit me." She apologized and offered a crazy deal. We all sweatdropped, but (Y/n) said something else.

(Y/n):"I believe there's enough pain in this world. Don't you agree?" He suddenly asked. I saw Erza's eyes widen, and her body stiffen. (Y/n) patted her armored shoulder before walking away. Lucy stepped forward and called out to (Y/n).

Lucy:"Where are you going?" She shouted. (Y/n) glanced over his shoulder and replied.

(Y/n):"Going to find my book. Erigor sort of sent it over the cliff. It was a guild library book, so I need to bring it back." He hollered back. Lucy looked dumbstruck.

Lucy:"He's going to go through all of that trouble for a library book?" She asked not understanding the dire situation. Then she turned to see Gray and Natsu holding each other in fear.

Gray:"Y-You don't know-"

Natsu:"W-Who the librarian i-is."

They started and finished their sentences. Lucy still was not understanding. Mirajane was terrifying in this situation.

Lucy:"Isn't it Mirajane?" She asked oblivious. Gray and Natsu yelped in the sound of her name mentioned. Even though she may be nice and kind on the norm. She was to be feared if you messed with the library.

While those three were going on about Mirajane's wrath as a librarian, I turned my attention back to Erza. She staring out in the direction (Y/n) had went. I sighed and walked over to her.

"Thinking about (Y/n)?" I asked her already knowing the answer. Erza nodded silently before speaking.

Erza:"Yes, master." She confirmed. I hummed in thought. This made the knight look down at me.

Erza:"Is there something on your mind, master?" She questioned. I did have something on my mind, but this was not the time for it. I waved my hand to dismiss it.

"It's nothing, Erza. Just some senior discussions." I answered to the redhead. She nodded and looked back at where (Y/n) went.

I knew she was worried about him. So was I. However, the discussion about it must wait until we all return to the guild. I ordered everyone to begin our journey back to our guild in Magnolia.

Lucy:"What about (Y/n)?" She asked with concern. I smiled and shook my head.

"No need to worry about that boy, my dear. He can take care of himself perfectly." I assured the celestial wizard. She reluctantly nodded and joined her friends.

Natsu and Gray continued to try and convince her that (Y/n) was all good. He just needed some rest to get fired up again. Erza walked alongside me silently. I knew she was thinking about (Y/n)'s unnatural weak display. She doesn't view him as weak, but this is one of the times where he was. That can be very unnerving.

Timeskip brought to you by chibi (Y/n) hiding from chibi Mirajane because of a late library book...

(Y/n) POV:

After locating my book, I decided to head home on my own. It took a few days, but the trip went without any hitches. I arrived back at Fairy Tail before my friends. Everyone asked me how the mission went, and I told them it was a success. That was when Mirajane approached me and was upset. I had missed her date.

Now, I was making it up to her by having a dinner at a fancy restaurant. Something not really my style, but I figured it would be romantic. Candles, roses, suit, and an orchestra was all present. It was romantic.

I sat in my chair, awaiting for Mirajane's arrival. There were other couples here, but the table I sat at was far away. I didn't want to talk over anyone. Not that I would talk much. Suddenly, I heard an unpleasant voice.

???:"Your fault..." The ominous voice from my dream or nightmare whispered inside my head. I ignored it and sipped some water.

???:"You did this, (Y/n). (Y/n). (Y/n)! (Y-"

Mirajane:"(Y/n)!" Mirajane's voice interrupted the one inside of my head. I turned to see Mirajane dressed in a velvet dress that left little to the imagination. The other men in the restaurant were staring with hearts in their eyes. Even the ones with dates already. I shook my head and snapped out of my thoughts before standing up.

"Sorry. Just lost in thought." I apologized. Mirajane sighed before smiling gently at me.

Mirajane:"Oh, (Y/n). You're always lost in thought." She joked about the truth. I pulled Mirajane her chair. She thanked me before sitting down. I pushed her in before taking my seat.

"You look beautiful by the way." I complimented. She blushed a little and smiled.

Mirajane:"Thank you." She replied kindly. I nodded, and the two of us ordered our meals.

While waiting, we talked about my mission. I told her everything that went down. However, I did leave out certain parts about my fight with Erigor. Mirajane was worried about my health, but I assured her that I was fine.

Our food came shortly, and we had small talk while eating. Overall, it was a good time and relaxing. Unfortunately, thoughts of what occurred on that bridge kept nagging me. It sucked because I preferred to dismiss everything that nagged me.

Mirajane:"So, how are things between you and Erza?" She asked curiously. I blinked a few times to gather my thoughts before responding.

"Same." I replied. Mirajane gave me a skeptical look. She even crossed her arms to emphasize that she was expecting more.

Mirajane:"Really? Are you sure it's the same?" She attempted to coax more information out that wasn't there. If it was, I probably dismissed it. I shrugged.

"I don't know what you want me to say." I answered with uncertainty. Mirajane rolled her eyes and asked for the check. I paid because chivalry, and I didn't want problems with Elfman.

Afterwards, the two of us took a walk around town. The night lights were nice to look at. Plus people were still active and such. It was vibrant and pleasant to be around. Eventually, the date came to an end, and I walked Mirajane back to her house.

Mirajane:"I had a great time today." She told me thankfully. I nodded in response.

"Me too." I agreed. She smiled and said farewell to me before entering her home. I began walking back to the guild. Cause I had nowhere else to go.

I arrived to see the lights still on. Curious to why, I entered the building. Inside were my friends from the Lullaby mission. Natsu, Gray, Lucy, Happy, and Makarov. However, Erza was not here. Natsu turned and saw me.

Natsu:"(Y/n)! Hey man, you would not believed what happened." He greeted me and steered me to the bar counter.

They began telling me what I missed because I travelled alone. There was flying fish, villages that turned into creatures, and miscellaneous stuff. It was amusing to see each person's different perspective on the stories. Each had their own heroic self performing amazing feats.

Eventually, everyone decided to head on home.  Only Makarov remained here, and I had a feeling to why. Once Lucy finally left, the short guild master turned to me.

Makarov:"Tell me exactly what happened." He ordered seriously. I sighed and began telling my tale.

After telling him what happened, he remained silent. I did leave out the details of the nightmare, but did mention it. Both of us understood what was going on with me, but found the nightmare part interesting.

Makarov:"So this only happened this time, correct?" He clarified. I nodded.

"Yes, master. This was the only time I've ever had this nightmare after using my magic." I told the short man. He hummed in thought before hopping down onto the ground.

Makarov:"I believe that it may have to do with Zeref's magic combined with yours that triggered this. However, it is a possibility with not enough evidence." He explained to me. I stared ahead silently. Makarov sighed and walked to the door. He stopped at the entrance and glanced back at me.

Makarov:"For now, drop the matter. However, it it gets worse, tell me." He requested sincerely. I nodded, and the old man opened the door to leave. Instead, he stopped again.

Makarov:"If you're wondering, Erza is at her usual spot." He told me sadly. I looked up at him. There was a concerned look in his eyes.

"Why?" I asked. He sighed and glanced at me.

Makarov:"I believe that's something you need to ask from her." He told me before wishing me a good night and to lock up. I remained still in thought for a little but before closing down shop.

After locking up the guild, I went to find Erza. I already knew where the usual spot was because of my often travels there. It was usually where Erza went to be alone, but it later turned into a place where we went.

Our first time officially meeting was a little rough, but I think it ended well. Considering the fact that Erza talks freely to me whenever we would meet up at our spot.

I arrived to see the redheaded knight standing by the river. The moon was up, and the stars glistened off of the water. Erza was looking up at the sky. Her hair swayed gently to the wind. It would have made a very romantic scene.

I then made my way over to Titania. She remained silent when I stood beside her. The two of us looked at the nice setting in front of us. Just enjoying each other presences and the night sky. Eventually, Erza turned to look at me.

Erza:"Nice evening, isn't it?" She asked calmly. I nodded and glanced at her.

"Sure is." I agreed, and Erza nodded as well.

The air went silent, and an awkward silence passed. However, I didn't mind. Silence was nice. Erza then cleared her throat and spoke again.

Erza:"Ahem. So I heard that you and Mira went on a date." She started the conversation on an odd topic. I nodded in response. Erza's face seemed irritated.

"Yeah. Is something bothering you?" I asked the requip mage. She shook her head, but gazed in another direction.

Erza:"No. Just wondering if it actually happened or not." She replied in a irritated tone, but I could detect some sadness in there.

I wanted to question here about my observations, but Erza looked like she didn't want to talk about it. So I decided to drop it and resume my silence. Aside from all of that, Erza sighed and spoke again.

Erza:"I've been meaning to ask you something." She brought up suddenly. I looked at her curiously. Awaiting her question. Erza looked at me with concern.

Erza:"What happened out there? For the longest time, I've always viewed you as extremely power, and I still do. However, this was the first time I've seem you this beaten." She explained her worries to me. I began thinking of a good response. Something that did not involve my past.

Erza:"You know you can tell me anything, right?" She said with worry that I don't trust her. I nodded and sighed before speaking.

"Erigor used the Lullaby on me. Even though I managed to make it out of tune, it summoned demons and zapped my magic energy." I admitted. She looked at me in surprise. I scratched the back of my head.

"Yeah. I kind of overdid myself." I told her in slight embarrassment. She looked at me seriously.

Erza:"Why didn't you wait for help?" She demanded in an upset tone. I sighed and looked down.

"There was a town nearby. If those demons had gotten loose on my watch...you know what will happen." I answered tiredly. Erza's eyes widened in shock. Then they softened, and a small smile formed on her face.

Erza:"Then I say you were right to overdo it. Just don't do it next time." She told me in a lighter tone. I shrugged.

"Didn't you overdo it as well?" I countered. She shot me a glare, but it soon faded. I knew it was difficult for her to stay angry at me.

After that, the two of us sat down my the waterfront together. I actually began reading the novel I was reading to Erza. She actually seemed to enjoy it. Mainly because there was a requip mage as the protagonist. Anyways, I was glad that Erza dropped the injured or dating manner, and we just enjoyed our time together.

Just like old times.
