Chapter 12 Yakiniku

Chapter 12- Yakiniku

Wow, I was really living the University life. I've talked to two different girls casually in one day as if we were really close friends, something I've never done before in Senior High. You would have to cultivate years of friendship before you could talk the same way I was talking with Akari and Kanna, I was glad I moved to Tokyo.

The trip to Roppongi took us at least an hour and a half, it would have taken us only thirty minutes or less but we made so many unnecessary stops along the way. Himouro had to stop at a Gunpla shop to see if the Master Grade figure he had been looking for was there, dragging the entire group with him. I've always wanted to assemble a model of my own since I could remember, I wanted to build the battleship Yamato and put it on display in my room but the model was expensive and I didn't have the time or skills to make it.

After Himouro's stop, the girls also went to a huge make-up and skincare shop. It was really a busy shop and most of the attendants were eager to swab their samples in your face, I had a hard time tailing the girls as they went in the shop excitedly. The shop's aisles were very tight and the shelves were filled to the top with colorful cosmetics and skin care products.

Kanna had noticed my predicament and hurriedly rushed me out of the brimming make-up store, holding my hand along the way. I wish I could say it was a romantic moment but I saw Akari's smirk along the way out and wondered what it meant.

We were seated in a Mcdonald's across the Makeup shop. We could see the group across the street still busy rummaging through the crowded aisles.

"Itsuki, so How is Tokyo?" Kanna said while taking a big bite from a burger.

"Crowded and busy, it's as if everyone is in a rush and chasing something," I replied nonchalantly playing with my french fries and dipping them in ketchup. "It's tiring trying to catch up to everyone's pace."

"The first day I was here, I almost got trampled over." She said laughing

"I almost left my trolley bag on the train when people rushed out," I said.

"Do you miss Fukuoka? I miss going to the beach, I miss Hakata Ramen and I miss my room." Kana said while grabbing a handful of fries.

"I miss my own room too and I miss my Mom's cooking," I said while dipping more fries in the ketchup.

The group had already finished shopping and were waving at us from the glass window. I could see Akari looking away from us, I wonder what brought that on. I looked at my watch, it was almost 6 pm now. We hurriedly went out of Mcdonald's and rejoined our group.

We were all trooping to a Yakiniku Restaurant. I've always detested Yakiniku restaurants when I'm with large groups, I always don't have the patience to cook the food and as soon as one is ready it was easily devoured by the people nearest and being the one designated to cook for the group was always a harrowing experience as all the attention is on you.

Our seating arrangement was similar to what we had at Starbucks and I was seated beside Kanna and Akari but this time I could feel a hint of coldness from Akari. I was unfortunately seated in front of the gas burner and I could faintly foresee my immediate fate.
