Thirteen year old Lexi Kara looked at the snow outside her window with a frown. Everyone knew the idea of snow on Christmas was just magical but did it have to be this freaking cold? Atleast the weather had gotten a little sunnier on her first day at her new school.
She let out a steamy breath of air. Her father's job better be worth this torture.
She turned back to her messy bed and quickly grabbed one of her brand new jackets. She put on the grey coat and her comfortable black Wellington boots and gloves.
Just then, a sharp knock came from the door.
"Lexi! Hurry up darling or you'll be late." Came her mother's sweet voice. "Your father's almost done with his breakfast."
"Coming mother!" She called back.
She sweat dropped as she remembered that she had to take a ride to school with her father. It was bad enough being the new student without adding in the factor that she was the new professor's kid.
"Lexi Kara! What are you still doing in there?!?!" Her mother shouted loudly.
She winced at her shouting. She had forgotten just how much of a pain in the ass going to school was.
"I'm coming already!" Lexi replied loudly before she grabbed her bag and headed to the kitchen.
She was about to take a seat to enjoy her breakfast when her mom spun her around by the collar and began to playfully drag her to the door.
"What the heck?!?! Mom! I'm trying to eat breakfast over here!" She said as she tried to get out of her grip.
Lexi held on to her buttered bagel as if she were holding onto dear life.
"Oh no you don't!" She said as she shoved the girl towards the door. "Your father's waiting in the car. There's no way I'm letting either of you be late on your first day!"
"Alright, alright! I'm going, Warden." Lexi said as she narrowed her gray eyes at her. "Sheesh. You can let go now."
Mrs Kara slapped her daughter lightly on the head.
"Ow! Mom!" Lexi whined as she feigned being hurt.
"Don't sass me, brat!" Her mother said, trying to look intimidating.
Which didn't work because she still looked young (which made sense because she was after all 33 years old) and was forever smiling.
Lexi gave her a quick perk on the cheek.
"Bye Mom." She said in her sweetest voice. "Love you Mom."
"Psh. Don't think I'll let you get away with disrespecting me just because you're still my cute little baby." Mrs Kara said before she tackled her into a bear hug and began showering the teen with kisses.
"Mom... Hey, let go! I'm gonna be late for school!" Lexi said as she tried to wrestle her way out of her grip.
For a petite little lady her mom sure had the strength and stamina of a pro wrestler.
After a minute she released Lexi but kept a hold on her as she inspected every inch of the little red haired girl. Satisfied with what she saw she beamed at her.
"You're gonna knock them dead at your new school. I just know it." She said proudly.
"High school isn't a competition, mom." Lexi pointed out. "Not that I'd win either way seeing as you got your drool all over me."
"Don't act as if you didn't make me eat your snort when you were a baby!" She snapped playfully at her before she gave her a gentle push. "Now get going before you are late for school."
Lexi gave her mother a cute pout as she got into her dad's Jeep. Putting on her seatbelt, she turned to her father.
"Time to get going, dad." She said cheerfully.
"Of course sweetheart." He said with an equally warm smile.
Sure, it sucked riding with him to school but she still loved him unconditionally.
"Have a great day, my loves." Her mom said as she waved at the both of them.
Lexi caught the glistening of tears on her eyes.
"Er - you do know we're coming back, right mom?" She asked in embarrassment.
"But you'll be gone all day." Her mother said as she wiped away a tear.
She shook her head in disbelief. Seriously one would think she was moving away or something.
After a somewhat hearty farewell , Lexi and her dad finally managed to drive off to her new school, Kadic Academy.
The school block was not what she had expected. She had hoped for a little color, at least. I mean, if she was doomed to suffer the cold weather the builders could have at least brightened up already bland atmosphere.
Lexi and her father made their way to Principal Delmas's office. The principal was fair to say. He welcomed the both of them with as much enthusiasm as the way he cautioned young Lexi specifically not to slack off at school because she had managed to study ahead of their curriculum at her previous school.
Not that she intended too, either. She was an A student through and through.
After the little introduction, he directed her to meet Jim Morales, the physical Ed teacher and somewhat boarding master. Jim was supposed to show her to her class.
As he led her to her science class with Professor Hertz, she couldn't help zone out the man as she studied the everything around you. Lexi was also trying to figure out what her new peers were like.
Just then, the siren sounded and she was immediately caught in a whirlwind of students trying to make their way to their classes.
Lexi and Jim began to approach a group of friends. Three boys and a girl. One of the boys had blond hair. He had on a pair of nerd glasses, a blue sweater and khaki trousers, he seemed to be paying more attention to the girl, a pink haired girl with a bob hair cut wearing pink dungarees and boots.
The two other boys were arguing about something. One had his blond hair jelled up in a rock star kind of way. He was wearing purple. His companion had dark brown hair and was wearing a white vest underneath a khaki shirt and a dark pair of pants.
When they spotted her with Jim they stopped dead on their tracks.
"Right, just the people I was looking for." Jim said as he pointed an accusatory finger at them. "Now I know you snuck off school grounds last night."
"Whatever do you mean Jim." The blond nerd said although his eyes glittered with amusement.
"Belpois, I thought an ace student like yourself would be more exemplary rather than hanging out with delinquents such as Della-Robbia." Jim said, his hands crossed together.
"Hey no fair, I didn't do anything!" Blond rock star hair whined. "If anything, Jim, Jeremy over here is the one turning me into a delinquent."
Jim raised an eyebrow at him.
"If I catch any of you outside past curfew..." Jim began before the pink haired girl interrupted.
"Is that a new student, Jim?" She innocently asked. "You know we could always show her around rather than have you go through the trouble."
"Eh - that's quite thoughtful of you, Miss Stones." Jim said as he scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. "This here is, Lexi Kara. She'll be joining us here at Kadic Academy."
"Hi, Lexi. I'm Aelita. Welcome to Kadic Academy." The girl said to her with a beaming smile.
"Thanks." Lexi said to her.
"Now, miss Kara, Miss Stones here will be your tour guide." Jim said to Lexi. "You are all in the same grade and class so that means she can show you to your classes as well."
She nodded in acknowledgement before she turned to the five teenagers in front of her.
"I guess I'll head were you guys were heading." She said to them.
