Maximus held tightly onto his leg as he tried to leave the house, his screams were making his ears ring.

"Maxi, papi has to go"

"No!"

Maximus cried loudly clutching to his leg even tighter. This was the first time this was happening and Taylor's soft side wants to bring the child along but where he was going was probably dangerous for the toddler.

"I'll bring you toys"

"No!"

Max and Jacque come down the stairs to see what was causing so much noise, they chuckled seeing Maximus holding on to his father's leg like a koala.

Max peeled him off making Maximus kick and scream while crying.

"What's wrong with him today?" Taylor asks running his hand on Maximus' hair. Max shrugs patting his back softly.

"We got it, go and visit your family" he says.

He gives his mates and their child goodbye kisses and runs to the car. He could hear Maximus calling out for him making his heart ache.

Rita runs behind him.

"Hey, mind if i come along?" She asks.

"Let's go, i could use the company"

They walk to the cars, he presses the unlock button on the key and...

Bang!

The two flew backwards because of the blast. Max and Jacque watched in horror seeing their mate's car up in flames. Maximus was crying even louder at this point.

"Oh goddess"

Toby was rolling on his yoga ball silently, Nate was in the kitchen making him breakfast. Since they discovered that they were expecting, Vera had informed the couple that the chance of their pup surviving was 50-50 because of the human genes mixing with the werewolf ones. The couple had been cautious since, Toby avoids stressing and focuses on eating healthy while Nate had stepped up and had become the best mate ever by catering for Toby's needs all the time.

"Babe, here's your breakfast" Nate says stepping inside the bedroom. Toby smiles and stands up, they share a quick kiss and sit on the bed.

"How are you feeling?" Nate asks. Toby chuckles.

"You asked me this 30 minutes ago, I'm still fine"

"I'm just wor-"

Bang!

The two scream in shock as their windows shatter inviting in a blast of smokey air into the house. Nate covered his mate blocking him from the fumes.

"Nate? What's going on?"

Nate looks out the shattered window only to freeze, his heart races as he contemplates if he should tell Toby about what happened or not.

"Uhh....let's go to the doctor first, I'll tell you there"

She laughs once she received the news that her plan had worked, she turns to the triplets.

"Didn't i tell you i had a plan?"

They look at each other, their backs still aching because of the goddess's jewel.

"What if you killed his mate instead...he'll come to you with a new rage"

"I don't care, i am a siren and we can do whatever we want"

She says, her heels tapped the tile as she walks away leaving them there.

"What do we do?"

"We wait for Rita's report...if she did kill Taylor then we have to eliminate Victoria ourselves"

The sound of car alarms beeping and the panic shouts of the pack woke him up, he touched his aching forehead and sat up. Rita was laying next to him unconscious.

"Rita?" He shakes her. She groans and opens her eyes.

"Taylor!" Max shouted running to them. Taylor could sense the panic running within his husband and he felt bad.

"Taylor, are you okay?" Max asks helping him up. He nods and hugs him tightly. Jacque joins them holding Maximus to his chest. This was the first time Jacque had seen a bomb explode and when he heard that werewolf enemies were heartless he thought people  were exaggerating but now...

"She tried to kill you" he says. Rita stands up after being helped by Benjamin.

"Taylor, you have to kill her" she says making everyone nod.

"If i kill her...then what? Do we wait for a new enemy? I need to think about this first"

"Taylor...she planted a bomb in your car, a bomb!"

"And Mike killed my child! Don't you see, if we only kill our enemies more will come to us, we need to come up with a more effective way to avoid future attacks"

They all remain silent. He did have a point. Taylor turns to face his now destroyed car. His finger twitches with a blue spark.

"Okay, everything is fine, I'll let you have some privacy" vera says making the two nod.

Toby turns to his mate.

"What happened back there?" He asks. Nate sighs.

"There was an explosion....Taylor's car exploded"

Chills ran up his spine hearing that, he shakes his head as tears brimmed his eyes.

"He can't die, not again"

"He's not dead...he was far away when it exploded"

Toby takes in a shaky breath as he tried to calm his emotions down.

"Okay...thanks for telling me"

"It's okay, everyone is okay" Nate says making Toby nod his head.

Truthfully he doesn't worry about himself when he heard that Taylor's car had exploded but he worried about Max because last time....

FLASHBACK

Thanks my boy" Max said taking the cup of tea from Toby, Toby smiles and sits next to him, today Max seems a little better than the few days that passed, his skin is back to it's healthy glow and Toby feels relieved.

"No problem dad" He says, Max's heart leaps hearing Toby call him dad, he can't help but chuckle at the thought of Taylor squealing if he heard it.

"So, how's Nate?, don't you get mated yet boy, you're still young" he says sternly,Toby nods and laughs .

"I know, i just turned 16 so I'm in no rush" he says, Max gasps.

"You became 16? When? Did you tell anyone?" He asks, Toby sighs and shakes his head.

"The day we buried Taylor was the same day as my birthday...there was no reason to celebrate it you know" he says, Max holds his hand and smiles.

"I'm sure he's feeling bad about it wherever he is, don't worry, the next birthday will be different" he says reassuringly, Toby nods.

"Drink up, I'll see you later" he gives Max's forehead a kiss and skips to the door. Max smiles at him.

"See you later....son" he says, Toby smiles in joy and closes the door.

He leaned against the door as he sighed sadly, he had long wanted to call Taylor his father but he never got the chance to do so, but he's happy to have made Max happy as well. Just as he was about to leave he heard Max talking to himself in the room, it seemed like the alpha was praying to the moon goddess. With curiosity, Toby placed an ear against the door.

"Dear moon goddess, please guide us and protect us from our enemies and I'm begging you to return my mate to me...if it means you taking my wolf and make me human then I'm willing...please...just let me have him back"

He covered his mouth to muffle up his gasp, from what learned, the sacrifice Max was willing to make had serious consequences, if the goddess was willing to accept his sacrifice, Max will become human and Taylor would come back to him....however, Taylor would still be dead inside....a living corpse.

END OF FLASHBACK

"Toby?" Nate asks snapping his fingers infront of Toby's eyes.

"Huh? Yes?"

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah"

"Your xrays show nothing out of the ordinary, so you're good to go" dr. Ryan says. Taylor smiles and nods.

"Thanks Ryan"

"No problem"

Taylor walks out of the room to see his family waiting for him outside.

"How did it go?" Jacque asks.

"I'm okay"

Max nods and smiles. Maximus was asleep in his arms. Taylor gently touches his head.

"Do you think he sensed that i was in danger?" Taylor asks remembering the whole tantrum before the explosion.

"They say babies can sense evil, i think he did"

They all look at the sleeping toddler. Taylor sighs.

"Lets go back to our room, I'm tired"

"Here's your tea" Esme says placing the cup on the table. Victoria takes a sip.

"Did you sort out the fairy queen?" She asks. The triplets nod at the same time.

"We made it look like she had been attacked by a vampire, she was having disputes with the new vampire king"

"Good good" she takes another sip.

"We will be leaving now, our backs still hurt"
She places the cup on the table.

"Take all the time you need, you've pleased me all this time and i think you deserve a reward" she places an envelope on the table.

"It's your mother's details, just as promised"

They gasp and open the brown envelope, they take out the papers only to gasp in disbelief, the papers were blank.

"we don't understand"

"Silly little girls, did you think you'd find a dead woman's address?"

"You tricked us!"

"Of course, three naive triplets looking for their mother was the best thing that could happen to me, now that your job is done" she says standing up, she takes in a deep breath.

They all take a step back.

"Your mission is done and so are you, once you're gone I'll be alone now go to the roof and jump as one and reunite with your mother"

She sings in a heavenly melody. The triplets gasp but they don't move. She tilts her head in confusion.

"Why are you still here?"

Their eyes glow pink. Making her gasp.

"Go hand yourself over to Taylor"
