Chapter 6: The Journey's Aftermath
December 31st, 2016, 2:15 am
"Eiden!" Alessandra yelled.
The words echoed throughout the room. Eiden makes his choice.
Eiden says to the man, "You're crazy." The man laughs and replies, "An eye for a eye." And that's when the man pulls a knife out and stabs Eiden in the shoulder.
Alessandra screams and embeds her knife into the man's skull, causing the man to pull too hard on the hilt and the knife flew out of the wound.
Alessandra yells for help and Cole comes into the room and that's when he pulls out a handkerchief and covers the wound from sight.
Cole carries Eiden while Alessandra grabs Eiden's stuff.
Eiden with the others heads out on a jeep and away from the hotel safe.

Group A: Rapid City, South Dakota; Cole's Group
Eiden wakes to the rising sun. His wounded shoulder was covered in a thick bandage and it snuggled tightly under his arm. The group were spread out all asleep in various ways, sleeping bags, couches etc.
After escaping the hotel chaos, they had rode on a jeep until Cole decided to stay in a house in the abandoned city of Rapid City, South Dakota. Eiden heard Cole walk into the house with more supplies and he got up into a sitting position and watched Cole cross the sleeping masses to the kitchen. After a short breakfast, Cole decided that they would travel toward the Canadian border. Little did they know, there was trouble waiting for them.

Group B: Alpena, Michigan; Andy's Group
After the fire on the lake shores and infected attack, the group had sailed for nearly twelve hours when Andy decided to stop at a condo in Alpena, Michigan.
Ember wakes up on the floor, her limbs sore and numb. She looks up to see her fellow survivors asleep on the floor. She hears a crashing sound from the door that they had barred off with wooden planks. She turns toward the sound and she deftly pulled out a knife. She walked into the hallway that contained peeling wallpaper and a damp feeling. The door was rumbling on its hinges. Then Ember heard the shrill shrieks coming from the very door that was shaking. She decided to open up the door. That's when she saw a girl, her red hair caked with grit and dirt. She said two words that broke the tension, "They're coming." The two girls ran and soon the group had gone toward the Canadian border. That's was when tragedy struck the group.

Group C: Memphis, Tennessee; Aurora's Group
Thanks to Gracie's jeep, the group traveled quickly all the way to Memphis. The group decided to take a break to sleep but of course by shifts. Gracie watches the sleeping bodies when she hears an explosion that rocks the ground and wakes everyone up. Grace nimbly jumps through a broken window and sees a nuclear explosion in the distance. "Fuck, the stupid infected must have 'accidentally' set off the bombs," Gracie thinks. She was right as another one blows up, this time closer. She yells into the house, "There's a bombing going on, we need to get the hell out of here!" She grabs her backpack, rifle and minor possessions and runs for the jeep with the others following. When the group is packed and safely in the vehicle. Gracie lights up the ignition and the jeep roars as it drives away from the destruction of the city. They drove away safe. But they didn't realize that they had gone in the wrong direction.

My apologies for the delay of this chapter. I was busy with my life's hard times and I also had writer's block with this book (ugh, ugh, ugh) but here's the next chapter. Expect the next one to come soon.
