I feel like going home right now. My stomach is churning and bile is rising in my throat. How dare he call me a monster? It's not my fault I'm the way I am.

"Hunter!" A voice called from behind me earning herself a few glares from people around.

"Hey Jodie," I greeted plainly.

"I haven't seen you in a couple days. Was your fever really that bad?" She asked concerned.

Fever? Oh yeah when she took me to the infirmary. "Yeah but I'm okay now." I told her, about to leave.

"Hunter!" Violet called appearing behind us. "I can walk you home, I'm free today and .... Hey! You took off the outfit?" She said shaking her head at me.

"She's walking you home?" I finally remembered a very hurt looking Jodie. I always gave her an excuse as to why she couldn't take me home.

"Oh Jodie, trust me I don't have an option." I assured her.

She really looked hurt, like I had replaced her. Well technically I had never called her my friend, just more of a person I spoke to frequently.

"Hey, I'm Violet." She said outstretching her hand to Jodie. She shook it grudgingly. "And for your information you can just forget about ever hanging with Hunter ever again."

Jodie looked like she had just had all the air knocked out of her. "Because now you're my bestie!" Violet exclaimed squeezing her.

Jodie's tiny frame looked ready to break under Violet's grasp. "Excuse me?"

"You heard me, I'm gonna be your new best friend, sister, amiga, com padre, chingu, twinsie, bottom line I've got no friends and now you're mine." Violet explained.

"Um thanks," Jodie said scratching her short blonde hair. She readjusted her glasses.

"Great," Violet beamed grabbing our arms "now we're going for lunch. I'm paying!"

Jodie stared in amazement as Violet managed to stuffed yet another chicken nugget into her filled mouth. That makes ten, yes we were counting!

She chewed them all in less than a minute and swallowed. "What?" She asked noticing we were staring at her. She shrugged and continued eating.

I shook my head and readjusted my hoodie on my head. "So how did you two meet? Jodie asked.

I hadn't thought about a lie yet .

"Oh I passed out in the woods and she picked me up and took me to her house in the middle of the woods. She figured out I had been spying on her and threatened to kill me so the next morning I escaped and she found me but I still managed to get away. After I helped her defeat a bunch of jocks we decided to become friends." Violet said and smiled warmly.

My mouth dropped to the floor. What the actual hell?! Maybe I should kill her.

Jodie just laughed "I like you."

"We met when I bumped into her one day," Violet said. "Oh and of course you like me who doesn't?"

I raised my hand and we all laughed.

This feels good, laughing with other people.

I looked at both of the giggling girls.

This feels right.
