Jodie's POV

Violet and I fell through the portal into the centre of the mind.

"Couldn't the centre of the mind have a mental staircase or something?" She groaned rubbing her butt.

"Sorry, I forgot to mention it's a bit of a rough landing." I said, helping her up.

"You're back," Ryder said, approaching us.
"What took you so long?" He asked Violet.

"Had to fight of a hell of a lot of Hunters at once, " she explained "how about you?"

"It just took me a while to find this place," he answered but I could see his cheeks turn pink as he shifted uncomfortably.

"Anyways, I've been wondering around this place and haven't found anything." He said gesturing to our white surrounding. One might have mistakes it for heaven, except it was completely empty.

"That's because I've been waiting for all of you." Hunter's voice projected around the room, but it was more sinister.

She suddenly appeared from nowhere grinning at us. Her eyes glowed that same dangerous blue we had seen on Hunter.

"Nice too see you guys." She gave us a sickly sweet smile. "Ryder." She said turning to him.

He stared at her apprehensively, it was they were having their own private discussion with their eyes and I really wasn't interested in it at that moment.

"Oh, where are my manners?" She laughed.
Clicking her fingers four chairs appeared, hers a bit further from ours.
"Please take a seat." She offered, taking a seat herself.

We reluctantly sat down.

She was acting strangely civil.

"So why are you here?" She asked.

"You're kidding right?" Violet scoffed.

"You've been making Hunter extra violent, you torment her and you refuse to be controlled." I reminded her.

"So what, you're here to control me?" She laughed.

"I prefer to think of it as helping you ," I countered.

The smile faded from her face. "I don't need help."

"Yeah right," Ryder whispered under his breath.

"Excuse me?" She gave him a death glare but he refused to back down.

"I believe you heard me. You do need help. You're ruining Hunter's life for no reason!"

With one swing of her arm a strong force sent him flying out of his chair. "You shall not speak to me that way! I have my right to be angry and Hunter is stupid for trying to forget those reasons!"

Ryder picked himself up looking enraged but tried to calm down. We would never succeed if they got into a fight.

"What happened to you? Why are you so angry? Whatever it is, Hunter seems to have gotten over it but you haven't." I asked. "Why?"

"It's too complicated for you to understand," she sighed "but I can show you."

She clicked her fingers and a door appeared beside her. "If you really want to know walk through this door."

"Are you sure about this Jodie? She's handing out answers to easily, it could be a trap." Violet whispered.

"I'm with Violet on this one, she flung me across the room just a second ago and now she's giving us answers. It's a bit suspicious." Ryder agreed.

"Keep deliberating, I've got plenty of time." She commented.

"I don't know why but I trust her. Let's give it a try." I assured them.

They followed as I walked to the door and stopped. "How do we get out?" I asked her.

"You'll see the way when it's time."

"I can trust you right?"

She didn't answer but simply gave Hunter's same sarcastic look.

That was enough confirmation for me.

I can't believe I finally updated! I've been spending a lot of time editing this book. I'm glad to be back!
