She's back...

I watched them in their cage smiling at me, their eyes telling me it was alright. It wasn't my fault.
I watched their loving eyes from the inside while she killed.
I watched as the blue flames consumed them and did nothing....

"Hunter!" I screamed "let him go!" She didn't listen and continued draining him.

I'm not going to let her win again. "Let him go! Let me go!" I felt her go back inside me. She fought with me inside my head telling me to release her but I wouldn't let her.

Ryder dropped to the ground as I took back control. I moved over to him and held his head up. His eyes looked almost lifeless and he was completely weak, too weak for even his injuries to heal quickly.

His eyes flickered open for a second "Monster" he rasped before blacking out.

He's right, I am a monster. She makes me a monster.

You were always a monster. She says in my head.

I picked him up and carried him out of the woods. I smelled his friends coming close and left him on the ground and hopped into a tree.

"How'd we lose her?" Alex said. All the guys looked beat up and bruised.

"Ryder?" Jacob said crouching to look at him pretty well.

"Looks like that wolf did a number on our oh so mighty leader," Trevor scoffed. "Though we still have to take him to a hospital."

"Its a shame when they go soft" Alex remarked shaking his head. They picked him up and took him away.

Now, I may have zero friends but even I know they are terrible ones. Though their Ryder's problem not mine.

I unlocked my door "So why'd you come back?" I asked. "Enjoy being tied up?" I turned around to face Violet.

"Nothing gets past you does it?" She smiled.

"Not at all. I saw your handiwork on the guys, not bad"

"Thanks," she smiled sheepishly.

"So why did you come back? Because I hope you know I'm still decided on killing you," I reminded her.

She chortled "Yeah sure you are. Anyway I thought you needed an ally."

"I've done pretty darn well without one, haven't I?"

"Yeah but that was before anyone knew about you. And besides I will keep my mouth shut," she offered.

"As tempting as it sounds I'm not ready to be a babysitter to a hyperactive, free spirited wolf. So thank you but no." I shut the door in her face.

There was a moment of silence. "Okay I am wild." She admitted from the other side of the door. " And rude and carefree and I don't listen to people who are obviously trying to help me."

"Go on," I said leaning against the door.

"But I spent my entire life in admiration of hybrids. I read books about their powers, listened to stories about famous hybrids. I couldn't bear the fact they were extinct and no one would tell me why."

Oh I can tell you why.

"But here you are, a living hybrid. And all I want is a chance to protect the last one."

"I've heard enough. I shut out people my entire life because the world is against my kind and you think I'll just let you hang around me cause you gave me a heartfelt confession?"

"No. You should let me in because I'm the only one you've got,"

Her words made me skip a breath. She was right, wasn't she?

"Fine," I mumbled. I pulled the door open just a bit to let my face show. "It's the most stupid decision I've ever made so don't let me down."

"Yes! Yes ! Yes !" She squealed. "Thank you!"

A ghost of a smile crept onto my lips "What have I gotten myself into?"
