Ellie's P.O.V

"Oh shit!" I whispered. There was a Runner infront of me in a few meters. I quickly ducked down under a tree and took out my bow and arrow. I was alone at night since I had nothing to do and couldn't sleep. It was cold and it's getting colder each night so I'm assuming it'll be snowing soon. As I aimed for it, a bullet was shot on the Runners head. I looked around for the person that shot it but couldn't see anything.

Suddenly I felt hands grabbing me by my waist. Struggling, the man pulled me to the ground. I saw someone that was about my hight and looked young like me. "Get the fuck back!" I yelled, pulling my Revolver out. The boy also pulled out another pistol. He had dark blonde hair, blue eyes and was really skinny. And there was a bag on his back.

"Who are you?" I asked. The boy aimed at me. "I'm Sam." He replied. "Drop that gun right now." I ordered as I stood up. I still had my gun in my hands and had it pointed at him. He still had his gun also pointed at me. "I told you to drop it!" I demanded. He then sighed and dropped it, kicking it to me.

"Are you a Firefly?" He asked.

"Hell no!" I replied. "I'm a survivor."

"Same." The boy smirked. "What's your name?"

"Ellie." I said as I put my gun back in my pocket. "You got anyone with you?" I asked. He looked down and shook his head.

Then suddenly I heard rustling in the bushes behind. We both took our pistols out and aimed at their direction. "Ellie?!" A familiar voice came shouting my name. Joel.

"I'm here!" I dropped my hand and looked at Sam to drop his gun. He nodded and just stood there. While Joel came up standing infront of me. "Ellie where the hell did you g- who's that?" He asked pointing towards Sam. "This is Sam." I said, walking to him. I put my hand on his shoulder and noticed his checks go red. I chuckled.

"Alright. C'mon let's go back." Joel said.

We both followed Joel back to our spot and sat near the fire.

Sam and I talked for a while. We asked each other's pasts and other things to I volte our history. "So how old are you?" I asked.

"Fifteen. You?" He asked. "Fourteen."

"What got you here into the woods anyways?" I asked him. "Well.. I was just hunting since I escaped from the survivors that I was with before. They treated us badly but especially me!" He exclaimed. He then rolled his arm to show me scars under his long black sleeve.

"Well your safe now with us." I said, smiling. I then noticed him blushing, again. I looked at the fire and just stared like that for some reason and then saw Joel and Sam talking together.

"So are you her father?" He asked as I listened.

"No..." I felt Joel's eyes on me. "It's kinda of a long story."

"I'm all ears." He said.

Joel explains the story the first time we meet when I was with Marlene. Then he continues the story until now. "And now here we are.." Joel continued.

"It's a good thing you guys survived all of that." Sam said. I chuckled and looked up. "Yep." I said.

I looked up at the sky and saw its still night. "I think we should have our rest." I suggested. They all agreed and we all took positions to sleep by the fire. I noticed Snow on the side sleeping and tied up by a tree. I smiled and closed my eyes. I felt someone was looking at me, and as I opened my eyes I saw Sam staring at me but then looked away. I smiled cheekily and closed my eyes again.

I woke up the next day, sun hitting though my eyelids. I sat up still having my eyes closed. Then I heard groaning and clicking from my left side. I look at the direction and saw a few of Runners and Clickers walking around. I quickly and quietly woke up Sam and Joel. I shushed and pointed my finger to the infected. We all grabbed our weapons gently. Slowly we all walked to Snow and rode on her, Joel in the front then me then Sam. But when Snow began walking her hooves made snapping noises. Great! Now the infected are running toward us. I quickly grabbed my Revolver while the boys grabbed their weapons too. Joel with a Hunting Rifle and Sam with a pistol but more looks like a shotgun. I've never seen this kind if pistol. So we all shot the infected and our shots attracted more.

"Fuck!" Joel yelled. "Hold on!" He kicked the horse furiously and made Snow run fast into a gallop.

"Joel slow down!" Sam exclaimed as he held me from my sides. I really didn't mind but his grip got even tighter each time. I yelped alittle but no one noticed since the horses feet made sounds while sliding in the ground.

After a while, we thought we lost them so we slowed down and noticed Snow breathing heavily. "We should rest." Joel suggested while taking in deep breathes. I removed my grip from Joel while Sam from mine.

Three of us got off and looked around. We were in a plain area; just grass surrounding the area. "Sorry for that grip." Sam said. "Oh it's alright." I said reassuringly. He then looked away shyly. I smiled and shook my head then looked at Joel who was sitting on the grass.

"Hey, you okay?" I asked.

"Hmm? Oh.. Yeah I'm fine just thinking." He replied back.

I nodded and sat on my spot near Joel. Sam came up to me and sat by me. I'm not sure if to show the bite on my arm to Sam yet, so I just pulled my sleeve more down on my right arm. We sat there awkwardly until Sam broke the ice. "Did you have a friend by your side before all this?" I looked down as my expression changes. "Yes." I replied with a sigh. "My best friend, Riley. It happened a few months ago. I was sleeping until that night Riley stepped in my room since I haven't seen for for more than a month. She was a Firefly." I sighed again and continued. "She said she has a surprise for me. She planned on taking me to a mall. We searched the place and had so much fun playing some arcade games, imaging things and riding on some game horses. After a while I told her I had to go back that I might be scared if anything happens to me. So then we played with some water fights and continued playing until we heard crashing noises near us. We looked to our side and saw a Runner. It saw us and we made our way through the mall. As we reached to a wide opened room, we climbed up to the window but then I slipped and feel back down. A Runner attacked me and tried biting me but Riley shot him off. Then she got attacked to and I kicked him off. Then we killed all the Runners. Suddenly I noticed she had a bite on her shoulder. She looked at it and searched fore mine too. Then she noticed that I had a bite too on my arm. So Riley died and I'm still alive." I finished finally.

I revealed the bite on my arm and saw him jerk back alittle. "She's immune." Joel blurted out. Sam looked at both of us for abit. "Oh... Well sorry about that." He looked down. "I'm sorry about your friend." He said. "It's alright." I assured him and patted his back.

"I see a cabin I think..." Joel said suddenly. He stood up and looked forward but couldn't see anything. "Yep it is a cabin. Let's go!" He said grabbing Snow by the rope and we follows him.

Soon I saw a arched looking roof then it revealed the rest of the site. It was a bricked cabin. I usually see wooden ones but this'll help us. We all got in and saw some blood stains on the wall but the whole cabin was clear. There was a couch on the corner of the cabin and a bed. I little stove and some shelves. A chair and a table.

So I placed my bag on the shelf and went to try the bed. "Well this is kinda comfy." I said and Joel rested on the couch. "Where am I supposed to rest then?" Sam asked. "Find a place yourself." Joel replied while closing his eyes and rested his head on the arm of the couch.

"Here, you can rest on my bed and I'll just sit on the armchair." I said standing up. But before I could stand Sam grabbed my wrist. "No you stay sitting here." He ordered. I looked at Joel and saw him sleeping. I sighed and sat beside him.

"Ok so you sleep at that end if the bed and I'll sleep in the other. I went to grab my bag and got out a comic book. I read halfway and felt my eyes get heavy then slept.

I woke up a little startled. I looked at my side and saw Sam sleeping on the other side as he supposed to while Joel was still in the same position. I looked up at the ceiling and just kept staring and wondering when this nightmare will ever end. Suddenly there was a crash at the back. We all woke up and looked at the direction, seeing a man. I quickly ran to my bag but the man grabbed me and hit me on the head by a weapon. Before I blacked out i heard someone shouting, "ELLIE! Stay with me!" Joel ran to me but got also grabbed by another guy. But Sam was no where to be seen.
