Ellie's P.O.V

I was distracted by someone humming. Opening my eyes, I sat up and looks around. All of us were circled around the fire pit. Emerald was the opposite of me, Joel was next to me sleeping and Sam opposite of him while Marshall was awake and he looked at me.

"Sorry did I wake you up?" Marshall asks, whispering.

"No it's alright." I reply back. I noticed him focusing on the fire probably thinking of something so I just looked up to the stars. They all looked aligned perfectly creating shapes. I smiled at the thought and looked back at Marshall.

"You okay?" I ask.

He was still focusing on the fire pit but then turned his gaze to me. "Nah I'm alright. Just thinking of something." He says as he looks down, sighing.

I also noticed Emerald raising her head up and looking at both of us. "Is emery thing alri-" she stopped herself from speaking and looked worriedly at Marshall who was looking strangely at the dragon.

"You could talk?" He asks, surprisingly. Then he looks at me. I just sigh and nod.

"It's fine don't worry." He says as he looks up at the sky and begins humming quietly.

"Whatcha humming?" I asked him.

"Just a song I wrote a long time ago for my daughter. It's called Mockingbird." He replied with a sigh.

"Oh.. Sorry." I apologize and looks down.

"Don't be." He reassures and lays on his back on the sand.

I noticed Emerald stretching her left wing upward widely and then lays it on the sand, resting it.

"Let's sleep. We got a big day tomorrow." I said and took my position to sleep as the other did the same.

Marshall's P.O.V

I was awoken by a groan nearby. I sat up and looked around. Turning my head to the voice, I spotted a Clicker. My eyes widened and nudged the dragon. She looked up at me I pointed at the infected. The dragon slowly stood up and walked quietly and stealthily to the Clicker. As she got closer, she immediately smacked her tail onto its waist that made it tear it in half with such force. I expected the Clicker to shriek but it didn't.

The beast looked at the infected and made sure it wasn't moving as blood was spilling out of it onto the sand. I looked back and saw Ellie standing still behind me.

"Wake the others we need to move." I demanded and Ellie did as I said.

Ellie's P.O.V

We've been walking for hours now and been fighting a lot of the infected. We haven't seen that much in days. So we got closer together as if we were just a small family together which sounded a little stupid for me but that's what Joel said.

I've also noticed Marshall being down and silent most of the time. It didn't dare to ask him why because I believe that'll lead him into more sorrow so I'm trying to think if something to cheer him up.

"Hey guys! I think we found us an abandoned house!" Joel exclaims as he heads to it. Looking at the huge house, it had an empty space around it. A small track was created but then cut through between the bushes and into the jungle. The sun was shining brightly onto the house main fit shine. I noticed Marshall chuckle for some reason but just decided to go and check out the house.

Marshall's P.O.V

As I looked at the abandoned house, it reminded me when I was much younger. Me and my old pal, that used to be a brother to me, used to go out and get our friends and burn down some old houses that have been left and all wrecked. So nearly every time we would go there and burn some down. I smiled at that thought and went in checking the house.

As I walked in, the house had a staircase that was made of wood. I just imagine that it would break soon. I stepped on the stairs and made my way up the staircase. The whole place was dusty but at least some rooms were still furnished. I was slightly coughing from the dusts that were surrounding me so I just covered my jacket sleeve on my mouth and nose.

I checked around the whole floor and headed downstairs. "Everything's fine up there." I informed everyone as I headed to the living room.

"Same here!" Ellie's shouts from the inner kitchen and comes out to sit next to me.

"Hey. What songs do you sing?" Ellie asks questioningly.

"Uhm.. I rap technically. I have many songs. Since 1990s before I became popular, I used to have many rap battles at a shelter. We would rap until the champion shows up. After a few tries I finally made it a champion then being famous by Dr. Dre. Ever heard of him?" I asked her but she just shook her head slowly."Well anyways, over the years I made songs mostly about my life and noticed many people getting interested in these stuff so I just continued and became the worlds best rapper." I said as I sat back and sighed.

"Since I lost.... Everything.. I just felt like having myself killed." I said as I looked down in the ground.

"I see what you mean there." She finally says. "Sorry.." She apologized and tapped my shoulder.

"It's alright." I reassured.

"I know this is slightly weird but do you mind if you rap or sing something?" She asked as I looked at her and thought.

"Alright I guess." I replied back.

I began singing I Need a Doctor since it was a good description of the world that is happening now. I sang all the parts of the song and looked at Ellie. And looks like from her face and having her mouth open, she was impressed and I smiled.

"That was awesome!" She exclaimed.

"Thanks." I said as I looked down and recalling of my life before this disaster.
