Before it began

Running. I am running. Fast, fast as I possibly can. Running is all I ever really do anymore. It is my talent, my hobby, my life. The second I stop running, the second I rest, there it is again. And I run.
It wasn't always like this, not even close. I had a family. A mother, sister, and my little brother Andy. Andy and I are 7 years apart, and I am in charge of keeping him safe. I need to watch his every action or step. But I am okay with that because I love him, and one day he will grow up to be a warrior, just like his older sister.
And that brings you to me I guess. Amelia, but I go by Amy. I am the middle child, and I am 17 years old. My oldest sister was a warrior like me but she had a fatal injury that gave her only 3 more days with us, and yesterday, was the third. The oldest child of the family is named warrior to fight for our tribe, and now that Emma is gone, I guess that leaves me.
Not just anyone can be a warrior. To be a warrior you need to prove that you are pure, strong, noble, and kind. Before you start your training you go through a test. A test that challenges you on your abilities. Not many pass this test, but the ones who don't are the luckiest people that you could ever imagine.
I take the test in four hours, right after my sisters funeral. At the funeral, I need to speak to my sister and speak to the people to show my loyalty to them, but to be honest... I am completely terrified!

My mum was calling me from downstairs as I was rushing to get my pants on, "Amelia hurry up, we are leaving in 10 minutes!" "I'm ready. Coming." As I rushed down the stairs, I tripped on my pants, that were apparently too big for me, and felt a shooting pain in my fingers that quickly crept up my arm all the way to my head.
"Amelia! Are you ok!" What happened!" my mom yelled after me. "W-what." Everything around me was spinning. By now I felt a pounding in my head and my arm was throbbing in extreme pain. After what I think was about 10 minutes, I heard the sound of sirens and saw red and blue flashing lights. What was happening? Am I dying?
After that, it all went black. I woke up in the hospital with my head all wrapped up and my arm in what looked like a wrap, but it was so thick and hard. Just then it occurred to me. My arm, it's broken. I can feel it, my bone in two different places when it should be one. I looked down at the wrap to see it was indeed a cast.
How will I do my testing now? If my arm is broken, then how will I be a warrior? Maybe this is what is best. No! I need to take the place of my sister, I need to fight for our tribe in her name. But what can I do?
Just then the doctor came in, and as he walked in I could see the look on his face did not mean I was going to be attending any tests any time soon. "Hello, Amelia-" started the doctor, "Its Amy" I snapped. I don't know why I was mad at him, but for some reason, I was taking my anger out on him.
"Sorry, Amy. Hello, well as you can see you had a pretty bad break here." I rolled my eyes which seemed to make him uncomfortable. "I just wanted to tell you that you will still be able to take your tests, and your sisters funeral is being held a couple hours late so that you can speak." He told me. "But I thought that the tests were tomorrow, how can I do them if my arm is in a stupid cast?" I asked, shocked. "Warriors Have a special ability to heal fast, all you need to do is touch water." He replied. "Water? Water!?! So then why is this stupid cast on me!" "Amy, calm down.
You aren't born with the healing power, you need to earn it. When you go to the ceremony today you will speak what needs to be said and earn the part of a warrior." Told the doctor. "Thank you for your help but we have to go now," Mum said kindly. "I wish you good luck, and remember, there will be only one left." The doctor said.

What? What does he mean only one left? Just then my mom grabbed my arm and tugged me out of the room. About 20 minutes later we arrived at a place called "Everyone Falls." Well, that's a bit depressing. As we got out of the car a wave of nausea came over me. "Honey are you ok?" Asked mum worriedly. "Ya, I-I'm fine," I replied with a shaky voice.
We kept on going until we found our seats in the very front row. Of course, we have to be at the front, the family of the dead sister. After a while of crying and listening, I heard them call out. "We have a special speaker today, taking on the impossible role of her sister. Please welcome Amelia Henry!"
I slowly made up my way to the front, my eyes shut tight once I made it. "I am so nervous!" I whispered to my sister. Even now that she is gone, we were so close and we always told each other everything. I have a feeling that she can hear me, and sometimes, when I am sleeping, I can hear her.
Its time, time for me to speak. "Um... Hi everyone. Well, I am here for something I never thought I would be doing for a long time. My sister had an accident and that is what brought me here today. I wish that I could have been a warrior by her side, but sometimes, things don't always happen the way you want them to. My sister was a loving girl who deserved a much longer life than she received. Me and my sister were close, We told each other everything, and now I don't even know what caused her death." I felt a tear run down my face. "I am here to take my sister's place and represent our tribe in her name. My sister was an amazing girl and I can't offer you a promise that she could make, but I can promise you this, I will fight. I will fight for our tribe, care for the wounded, heal the sick, love the poor and most of all I will be a warrior!"
Just then everyone burst into cheers and screams and clapping. Everywhere I turned there were tears and smiles spread across peoples faces. And this was because of me?
