Forty-two days ago, When the world changed forever

Jill was sitting on the school bus with her twin brother Jack and his best friend Quint. Jill was in her own little world while the two boys had their conversation, until

"Wanna test its explosive capabilities after school?"

That. that one sentence was all Jill needed to get interested. Despite being twins Jack is the older of the two (by like five minutes) so Jack never lets Jill do anything fun really. Seriously the most 'fun' Jack ever let Jill have was allowing her to go into the shallow part of a public pool that only the little kids really play in. And that was when they were 8. Jill had to sit in the two to three inches of water while Jack went and played in the 'big kid' area.

"Quint, that is 100% all I wanna do."

"Can I come too please?"

"I'm sorry Jill, but as your older brother I must say no."

"Your only older by like five minutes" Jill grumbled

"Hey!"

"Kid, your "Sammich" sticks like squirrel butt."

And that was Dirk, Dirk Savage. Jill's big small and secret crush. Even though Dirk picked on her brother a lot, she still had a crush on him seriously, she didn't usually have a thing for bad boys at all, but that didn't stop her from blushing when she even heard the boy.

"Jack we have a problem here." Jill looked up to see Dirk (who had snatched Quint's sandwich and was eating it) holding Jack by the shirt ready to punch Jack. Oh no, that wasn't going to happen, Jill might be the youngest twin and sure she may not look strong enough to take on a bully like Dirk, but that was just a facade. Because even though Jack didn't want his "baby" sister to get hurt, she had gotten into a lot of situations that would have made Jack faint, or get a heart attack, or both.

"Dirk won't be able to find a panda bear to pick on. They're an endangered species."

Not the time Quint

"My fist is about to make Jack an endangered species!"

"Leave my brother alone Dirk!"

Before Dirk or Jack could say anything however the bus shook and kids started screaming. Quint, Dirk, and Jill looked out the bus windows (Dirk shoving Jack's face against the glass.) outside it was chaos people were running around outside, a car had smashed into a fire-hydrant, making the water inside come up like a geyser. The sky had started to turn into a dark blue despite that fact that it was only around 7:40 at the most.

Something screeched as it flew overhead, Was that a pterodactyl?

"Quint, you know stuff. This must be a joke, right?" Jack asked though he didn't sound convinced "Some prank show?"

Before Quint could answer Jack's question something landed on the roof of the bus making the whole vehicle shake, there was a moment of silence before two big claw like things shattered through the bus windows. A monstrous eye looked into the bus using the front window. The bus was then lifted up by the claws before being shaken making everyone fall out of the bus through the emergency exit.

Luckily most if not all the kids had fallen on to the grass below, not so luckily they were now surrounded by zombies and monsters. Jill had tumbled out and landed right next to Dirk

"Woah, you okay?" this had caught Jill by surprise she hadn't expected Dirk to ask that, let alone actually care if she was okay "Uh, hey I asked you a question."

"Yeah, Yeah I'm fine, just a little shaken."

"Good now look out"

Jill barely had time to dodge as she saw the bus come flying towards her. She rolled out of the way just in time luckily, and stopped right next to her brother and Quint.

Jill looked back at where she had rolled from to thank Dirk but when she looked back Dirk was gone. In any other circumstances Jill would have been pissed but the end of the world is happening right now so she couldn't blame Dirk.

"Uh, Jack, Jill, what's going on here?"

"I don't know buddy/man!" Jill and Jack screamed

"Uh, Guys what's that!?"

The boys fallowed Jill's gaze and landed on a big hole in the sky, it had green light coming from it and clouds surrounding it.

"I don't think that was there yesterday, because I'm fairly certain I would have remembered."

Then a girl June Del Toro, Jill's best friend, had fallen trying to get away from some zombies

"June!" Jill heard her brother say as a zombie was coming up from behind her.

"JUNE, BEHIND YOU!" Jill screamed she couldn't lose her best friend, not yet!

June luckily had gotten up and ran from the zombie, but a giant foot had smashed right in the view of Jill and Jack

Jack then let out the most girlish scream Jill had ever heard, if this wasn't a serious moment she would have laughed

June was then seen looking out of an emergency exit of the school, both Jill and Jack let out a sigh of relief they didn't know they were holding. June then ducked back into the building has more zombies appeared.

"Come friends." Quint then pulled the twins away from the school, both of them taking their backpacks that had fallen earlier.

The trio raced through a maze of cars trying to avoid both zombies and monsters alike all ending up running on top of the roofs of said cars.

"We must find someplace safe."

"Joe's Pizza? It's Wednesday. Two-For-One slices." Jack suggested while also trying to lighten the mood, before falling onto the concrete

"Focus, bro!" Jill said standing on a car's hood

"Do both of you have your walkies?" Quint said already having come up with as good a plan he could make with the circumstances.

As Jack was searching for his walk-ie a zombie had gotten a hold of the bottom of his backpack.

Jack had managed to rip his backpack away while taking a zombie arm with him. Running into Quint literally, the three of them hid next to a car

"Got it!" Jack said

"Superb! Jill?"

"I must have left it at home."

"As long as we have one nothing can go wrong little sis"

"Okay, I'll go to my house, you two go to yours. No matter what, we stay in touch."

"Deal!"

"Be safe Quint"

Jill and Jack looked at Quint before all three ran in the opposite direction, Jill with Jack and Quint by himself

Luckily enough for the twins their school wasn't far away from their foster home, however once they got there they saw that the foster family that was supposed to be taking care of them driving away.

"HEY! Wait up!"

"Lousy new foster family." Jill grumbled

"We're here!" both of the twins shouted but their foster family was already to far gone

Just then the twins turned around having heard a zombie growl, seeing said zombie the twins ran for the backyard both falling onto the grass. The zombie tried to follow them but Jack kicked the gate closed, but because these two have the worst of luck half the time, the gate opened again and the zombie was still there. Once again Jack kicked the gate closed, but it opened again. This happened a couple more times before Jack and Jill (A/N Went up a hill to fetch a pale of water...no? Just me? okay) climbed up a rope ladder that lead to their foster brother's tree house.

"You don't want to eat these brains. I'm not as smart as I look."

"It's true! He's not!"

"Aah!" The zombie had gotten hold of Jack's foot. Jack hit the zombie's face with his free foot, making it let go, but in the process his walk-ie fell out of his bag. Bouncing off the zombies face and landing on a rock destroying it.

"No!"

"Jack just climb we'll get it later!"

Clambering up the last few steps and making it to the top Jack pulled the rope ladder up so the zombie couldn't follow them. The zombie left now disinterested in the twins and their brains. Jack looked down to where his walk-ie had fallen and groaned annoyed. Both the twins went inside the tree house to get away from anything that might want to hurt them

"Anyone undead in here?"

Jack walked to a nearby corner and slid down to the floor, Jill went for the more comfortable option which was a bean-bag chair. Jack had pulled a jacket that was on the floor and put it over his head. Jill just put her hood up and leaned back her head. Both of the twins looked miserable as sirens and monsters were heard outside. Once again the twins were alone.
