7-Tears

A/N: For those that don't play games or are not familiar with gaming terms, I will provide definitions.

Taunt: A skill tanks use to make sure that the monster/opponent is attacking them and not others. It forces the enemy to attack them, so no the enemy won't attack others if tanks don't lose aggro.

Aggro: (Aggression) The state of being attacked. If the monster/enemy focuses on one certain person, they have aggro.

If there are words that I have used in the past or in this chapter, if you comment I will let you know! Just drop an inline comment and I will provide definitions. :)

Lana intently watched the portal gate, waiting for the monster to step out. As the yellow glowing orb intensified, large spikey legs walked out. The monster was bigger than anything Lana had seen. It had blue skin with purple stripes here and there. Its big muscles made it look extremely intimidating to Lana. Its mouth was the most disgusting part of all, spikey teeth with a slobbery mouth and long tongue that seemed to have a hard time staying inside its mouth.

"Don't shoot until Lincoln uses taunt to pull the monster to him. Let him get aggro, and then we can start attacking."

Lincoln swung his sword in the air and ran towards the beast. The beast turned his head towards Lincoln and licked its giant mouth. Lana almost gagged at what she saw and Ash laughed at her reaction.

Lincoln said something that Lana couldn't hear, and the beast was instantly pulled to Lincoln. The pull amazed Lana.

"Set!" Lincoln yelled loud enough for his voice to reach the top of the hill.

As Lincoln defended the beast's attack, Ciara ran towards it. Her sword reflected the sunlight, creating a beautiful trace as she swiftly moved her body.

"I'm going up!" Ciara yelled as she got closer to Lincoln. To this, he stiffened his body while still taking damage.

Ciara took a big step and jumped onto Lincoln's shoulder and bounced up. As she came down, she ran her sword against the body of the monster, dealing a significant amount of damage. Even though she could easily kill it, she was using her weakest skills so that Lana could get more out of this training.

As Ciara finished striking, Dawn's beautiful melody could be heard at least a mile away. It was the most beautiful sound that Lana had ever heard before, though that didn't seem to be the case for the beast. He covered his ears snarling, clearly bothered by the melody.

"Aim for its heart."

Lana pulled the trigger, missing the beast completely.

"Don't rush it. You can take your time and pull when you are comfortable. Even if you hit him a million times it will make no difference if you don't touch the heart."

"Why?"

"Look at Ciara, even her blade isn't cutting him. No matter how much damage we do, it will have no impact because he is bulky, but the heart is the most fragile. Each monster type has a weak spot. Look at it while it's defending itself, rather than protecting itself from the attack, it's making sure his chest area is covered."

Lana observed the beast. Ciara's sword scraped the monster's skin, but there were no visible cuts or damages.

Lana brought her scope close to her, aiming at its heart. She waited for an opening, but with Ciara and Lincoln so close it, she couldn't find the perfect opportunity.

The beast was still attacking Lincoln, although Lincoln dodged all of the attacks somehow.

As soon as the beast stopped defending itself, Lana once again rushed to pull the trigger and missed the heart by an inch. The beast let out a deafening growl shocking Lana.

"I'm getting closer," Lana said as she stood up.

"Lana, no! It's not safe."

Ignoring Ash, she started running towards the beast keeping her aim steady. As she ran towards the beast, she failed to notice a black magic circle that she had entered.

Black fog covered her vision, and she lowered her arm to see what was going on. Lana noticed the black smoke rising from the magic circle.

"Lana! Go back!" Ciara yelled at her sister.

But Lana ignored her sister as well, getting closer and closer to the beast.

"Lana! Listen to me, it's about to release a spell, head back," Ciara yelled once again, hoping to get through to her sister.

"Mutation, Iridium!"

As soon as Lana heard her sister's voice, the magic circle burst into black flame. She felt something heavy pulling her down, and fell to her knees not being able to hold herself.

"W-What..." Lana whimpered.

When the black fog cleared, she looked up to see the monster slowly dissipating into flames.

"Extract," Ciara declared.

Lana felt the weight pulling her down disappear. She quietly rose to her feet while her sister walked towards her.

"I-" before Lana could speak, Ciara's hand was across her face. The sound of the slap rang in Lana's ear, and a single teardrop fell from her left eye. Maybe it was the shock, maybe it was the pain, or maybe it was both.

A lump formed in her throat that she tried to push down. Her eyes fell to the ground as more tears threatened to spill. Everyone fell quiet. The wind rustled, making her hair stick to her face.

"It was my fault for thinking you were ready." Ciara walked away. She got in her vehicle and drove off, leaving Lana.

All the tears that had been waiting spilled from her eyes and Lana fell the ground sobbing. She heard footsteps come closer to her, but she didn't look up nor did she care to. Gentle hands patted her back. She wished they were her sister's  but she knew better. It was her fault, she knew what she was doing and it was wrong of her to do so.

Lana closed her eyes, listening to her surrounding. The gentle breeze that brushed against her ears, the sound of birds chirping, the faint noise of the evening bell and the silence. She could smell the grass and the hint of primrose made her realize how lonely she had been all these years. The only one she had was her sister, and now she had made her angry.

"Hey, it's okay," Dawn's gentle voice soothed her, "We all make mistakes, and we grow from them. I know Ciara didn't mean anything bad, she was just worried about something happening to you."

Lana shook her head, "No, it was my fault. I ignored everyone, and I couldn't do anything. I put myself and everyone in danger."

"That's not true. I think you were brave being able to trust yourself to come this far. Though it was reckless, you didn't put us in danger," Dawn rubbed Lana's back.

"She had to give me her armour and deal with the complete damage."

Dawn chuckled a little, "You think such a weak monster would be able to do damage to her? Silly girl. Hey, how about I tell you a story about Ciara? Maybe if you hear this and talk to her, she will understand you."

Lana finally looked up at Dawn and nodded eagerly. Dawn smiled at her, wiping her tears away.

Hey guys! How you doing? My classes are keeping me extremely busy and I have no time to write. I have so much I want to write for this book, and I don't want to discontinue this because of school. I am also slightly discouraged to write, but I am not giving up!

I don't know when I will have time to write again, but I will try my best to publish one chapter a week! No promises though, don't hold me on it.

I actually wrote a side story of this book for a contest, and I want you guys to know the story as well. So, the next chapter will only be 500 words, short story.

Peak into the past hehe.
