1-Last Day

Although there was still another day for the school to officially close, it was the last day for Lana. She had just one more final and she would be done. Lana entered her classroom to take her calculus test, and this was one she could not wait to be over with. For now, all of her thoughts were just passing the test. She took her time working on each problem, thinking about it carefully and putting down her answer. After two hours, she had finally finished.

Taking a deep breath, she turned in her test and walked to her locker where her friends were already there waiting for her. She smiled at her friends, feeling a wave of sadness take over her. This was the last time she would be able to stand by the hallway talking to her friends. Unfamiliar faces were passing by, making her reminiscent of the past. How she and her friends would run around in the hallways, occasionally getting yelled at by her teachers, or how they would just stand around talking before heading to class.

It was hard to believe that four years had passed by so fast. It may have felt slow when she had to work on projects and keep deadlines in mind, but looking back at her days now, it all seemed to go by in a blink. She cleaned out her locker and threw out all the papers that seemed so important to her but now were useless. They all walked down to the office, where they would say their goodbyes and part ways. Lana watched the freshmen as they studied for their finals and talked with their friends. They were smiling and laughing, unaware of the melancholy she was feeling; the same feeling they too would soon experience. Lana noticed her sister was already there by the office, so she quickly said her goodbyes and hugged her friends before heading out.

"Lana, you forgot your shoes in the office." Someone called out to her from the office.

She walked back to the office to grab them. On her way back, she heard a boy say to her friend, "Once I graduate, I want to join Jaguar's Legion. I want to learn how to use magic alongside her! She is the coolest and the strongest mage that there is."

"Serpens is stronger than her, he can easily beat her. I bet I could beat her myself," his friend replied in a cocky tone.

"Are you sure you can beat Jaguar, little Daniel?" The voice sounded like Lana's sister, making her turn her head towards her direction.

"Yeah, I can! She is no longer the most powerful, and her legion has fallen apart. And, how do you know my name?" The cocky boy replied, not knowing who he was conversing with.

Lana's sister pointed to the notebook the little boy was holding. "It says right there, 'Property of Daniel'."

"H-How can you see that far?" the boy asked, stuttering. They were standing far enough that no one could see the small handwriting from such a distance, at least someone normal. Though Lana's sister was anything but.

"Well if you think you can beat Jaguar, then I will pass on the message to her that a young warrior wants to challenge her." She winked at the boy, making him fluster.

Lana chuckled at their exchange and walked to her sister. They exited the building.

"You slug, hurry up and get in the car. I have been waiting for an hour already. If you don't hurry, he will find me and I can't afford to put an entire school's safety at risk." Lana's sister said as she sat on the driver's seat.

"And? You can fight him, so why are you rushing?" Lana asked.

"It's too dangerous for any of you to be anywhere near him."

"I can protect myself now, you won't have to worry about me, Ciara. I want to fight alongside you. I want to help, I am capable." Lana said in frustration. Every time they had this conversation, her sister had always shut her down, saying it's too dangerous for her.

"No Lana, he is not just any opponent, I will not be able to protect you if anything were to happen to you. He is stronger than you think." Her sister spoke calmly but Lana could hear the frustration in her voice.

"I can be a sniper, I don't need to be near the battle. Let me help!"

Her sister sighed, "Fine, but you are not allowed anywhere near. You will need to practice before." Frustrated, Ciara sat back in her seat. Lana didn't understand how powerful he was. Ciara wasn't even sure she understood herself. Her mind wandered to their previous encounter, just around three months ago.

*Flashback- 3 months ago*

Jaguar ran across the road and to the top of a small hill. She peered around to the other side of the hill, finally spotting the glossy black sporty car, that was created by her own hands. Swiftly making her way over to her car, she noticed her group members surrounding her vehicle preventing her from getting closer. She was taken aback by their actions. Before she could say anything, they started attacking her. It was as if they were being controlled by someone else, and she had no other choice than to fight back. Not wanting to seriously hurt her people, she only made it so that they could not move, and called the authorities to take them. It was better than hurting them.

When she tried to get inside, she heard footsteps walking up to her from behind. She turned around, ready to defend herself. Three men were walking up to her, and she knew they weren't there to make friends. The man in the middle had silver hair, glowing yellow eyes, and striking features. His grey suit made his yellow orbs stand out, like the sun glinting off the tip of a dagger.

"Jaguar," He said in an enticing whisper.

She stood there, grabbing her dagger just in case she had to use it, blocking their Crux from the men. They had fought together for years, sharing pain and joy every step of the way, and she would never put her friend in danger.

"We have not come to fight, but rather negotiate. Hand over your power to us, and we will allow you to keep your position." Ciara had worked for years to become the strongest warrior. Everyone feared her and looked up to her. No one could defeat her. Rather than using her powers for evil and selfish reasons, she helped everyone in need.

Looking over at the automobile that Ciara had made herself, he said, "We are aware of your talents. It would be a shame if they were to go to waste. Join us and rule the world." It was true, Ciara was extremely talented. She had made herself a custom vehicle that did not require anyone to drive, it could follow her without her being inside. She had made it so that if she had to escape quickly, she could just hop in and be on her way. In emergencies, the vehicle would know what to do automatically, as if it were wired to her brain. But she was against using her talents for evil. She was not power-hungry. If she could, she would kill these tyrannical bastards right here, but her energy was low and there was no way she could fight all of them.

"And what if I say no?" She asked even though she knew the answer.

"Then we will have no choice but to kill you." The man said with an evil smile.

There was no way she could get out of this. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Crux.

"Crux! Throw me an energy potion" She yelled.

He pulled out a potion from her pouch, but rather than throwing it at her, he simply let it fall. The glass holding the potion shattered as it touched the ground. "Oops," he said .walking towards the three men.

"Crux...." She was out of words, how could he betray her after all that they had been through? It felt as if she had thorns in her heart, and every time she took a breath, it hurt more.

For now, she had to get away from them. She jumped over them and ran as fast as she could. No one could run faster than her. But to her surprise, the silver-haired man could keep up with her speed. She ran faster, but he was right behind her. The road was bumpy, and hard to run on. Even though her energy was low, she still had enough to use her transformation skill. Every time he got close enough to grab her, she would become smaller and escape his grasp, but she knew she had to get away fast. She had to do something, and it had to be quick. Her car was right behind him, waiting for her. But it was not easy for her to get away from him, especially in her condition.

A little further away from her, she saw a flight of stairs leading up to a shrine. She had to get away before they arrived there. Running as fast as she could, she checked the position of her car. It was facing the other direction, so she would be able to just hop in if she could get behind him. As she approached the stairs, Jaguar suddenly turned around and slid beneath him, creating a cloud of dust. She scraped her leg because of the rough pavement, but she paid no attention to it. Before he had time to react, she used her last bits of energy to transform him into a smaller being and froze him. She hopped in the car, not wasting any time, for she knew she couldn't keep him like that for long. Jaguar drove off, safe for now.
