Chapter 20
"what about Atif?' Divya asked, running a bit to keep up with Madhav.
"what about him? he is an idiot and very irritating, I can't stand him early in the morning."
Divya let out a chuckle, she couldn't help but agree on it, he was surely irritating especially this early in the morning. Nevertheless, as the two reached the turning, Divya realized where he was taking her and shook her head. It took all in her not to give him a lecture as well. She kept on reminding herself that he isn't Aman or Parth or Rohit and Nandini to go ahead and chide him over not smoking. They weren't just that close.
"Welcome to heaven. This is the best place near our college, if you don't find us anywhere near college we all might meet you here." Madhav smiled at her as he went ahead to give his order for tea and a marlbour, he then turned to her and asked, "will you take something?"
"No I am good." She went ahead and stood in one corner away from all the smoke. This was the second time she was coming here and that was as well with Madhav.
"So how do you find Mohamad to be?"
"trust me you don't want to know." She made a face and stood a bit far away from him, but as usual even Madhav was careful to not blow the smoke right in her face. As she stood in front of her, did she realize how he overpowered her. A small smile made its way on her face.
"well are you guys ready for IV?" Madhav asked as he dusted his cigarette and took yet another drag. And then a sip of his tea. She had many times heard people saying how heavenly the combination was. But never had she ever able to understand the combination. For her Tea and coffee were always associated with rains, a few romantic books, lovely melodious romantic songs, and good company. They were addicted and made her go high without any use of these drugs that Madhav and the rest of the boys did.
"ohh I was ever ready the moment the places were decided. I had always wanted to go to dehradun."
"Ahh, yess Your long time crush is from there right?"
Divya stood still and let out a chuckle, "what?"
"That day while going to lower parel it was me who was seated beside you when you and Nandini were talking about this supposed sasural of yours."
Divya relaxed a bit and then clarified, "Ohh that, we were talking about Abhijit, well no secret it was a long time back, I am so over him. He is from Nainital, and right now I don't have any idea where he is. I was happy because my best friend stays in Dehradun, and Mussoorie isn't that far, if we have some time I might just call her as well."
Madhav nodded his head as the two began talking about random things. Madhav was taking his last drag when Divya's phone rang, it was her mother who was instructing her to go to her doctor to get medicines. She assured the old lady that she would leave as soon as the meeting was over and get it done. Once she had hung up her call Madhav had enquired.
"you aren't doing well?"
"Ohh no this," Divya didn't understand how it was to explain but Madhav stood there patiently waiting to know and understand what she had to say. "I have PCOD."
"You mean PCOs?'' Madhav enquired. His question had actually made her quite surprised. It had been almost 6 years now that she was diagnosed with this hormonal imbalance problem yet her brother and father at times struggled to understand what it was all about and here he was telling her yet another acronym for this issue.
"Yeah, it's one and the same, but how did you know about it?"
"My sister was diagnosed with it after her marriage. It had been difficult for her to conceive because of that, we all were worried, and I am quite close to her. I might have been in 10th standard or so, when I came to know about the issues I had done all possible research and had helped her. It was after all those treatments and continued prayers and efforts finally my nephew was conceived. So somehow I know the issues that this thing has."
Divya smiled at him admiringly. With each passing day she was discovering a yet new personality of Madhav and somehow she was proud of him and as well as her for having feelings for a person like him.
"what's your case like?' he enquired while he prayed for his tea and the ciggarate he then faced her and asked, "you sure you don't want anything?" Divya Nodded a no and began explaining.
'I was in 10 when I was checked for it earlier I had heavy periods," she looked up at him as to ask if needed an explanation for that, but he nodded his head telling her to continue, "the were even irregular like I used get them in a gap of 15 days, it used to be very tiring I had lost a lot of blood during that period."
"My sister's case was reversed."
"I know it varies from person to person. I don't like allopathy much, hence we resorted to homeopathy, the process is slow but there aren't any side effects hence its fine, so now after every 3 years I have to go back on medication for at least a year." The two kept on discussing this topic till they reached the college. Divya was quite impressed with the vast amount of knowledge that Madhav had on this topic, he even suggested a few remedies to her that had helped his sister with all the hormonal imbalance.
Three hours later when the secret meeting was over and when even the whole committee meeting was over and when finally they were done with praising each other, Nandini, her sister and Madhav made their way to Kalam to have dosa. The never ending love of madhav for the dosa was never understood by divya.
Once seated on the bench, they began discussing what all things needed to be brought for dinner on the first day of the journey. It was decided that Divya would get chole, Nandini would get parathas and Madhav was going to ask his maid to make lemon rice. Soon they found discussing about Madhav's home as Divya's sister asked,
"So how many people are there in your family right now?"
"about 20 to 25, but that's about 4 to 5 family living together." Madhav explained, while the three girls sat there in shock.
"I really don't understand how it is that your family is accommodated in one house."
"Arey we have a big house, it's like a haveli it's one of the oldest houses in Jaipur."
"don't tell me you have a haveli...like a real haveli...Madhav you are rich!!" the three girls excalined at the same time.
"ladies let me correct you, I am not rich my grandfather and father are. And it's not really a big thing, it somehow now looks like a building, it's divided into two at one side the cousins of my grandfather stay and one one side we all." Madhav dipped his piece of dosa into the sambar and ate with utmost abundance. Divya watched him as he devoured the taste and how uncomfortable he was explaining the things.
"so you mean to say your family is like that of yeh rishta kya kehlata hai" Divya's sister enquiries.
They all let out a chuckle as Madhav explained, "well in a way yes, but yeh rishta kya kehlata hai is quite overboard my mom wears saree at home but not like of those, we are middle class family with properties that date back to hundreds of years that's it."
Divya found herself discussing about the various rituals and things that the three different families of their i.e Nandini, her's and that of Madhav had while getting married or during various festivals.
"our marriages are quite lavish,:" Madhav said,he licked his fingers and continued, "the celebrations continue for about 15 days to even a month and every one is to be called, like now in may we have a wedding, that's my Jiju's sister's wedding but even our whole family is invited and no matter what all have to be there , even me and if I wont be there they would get offended."
As the lot stood up to go while Madhav kept on explaining how sangeet and other rituals were celebrate the two Maharashtrian girls along with the Agarwal who sat along with him looked at him dreamily as Divya said, "madhav no matter what please call me at your wedding."
"yes even me gosh I so want to enjoy your wedding. It will eb so much fun."Nandini and Divya gave each other a high fi as Madhav just nodded his head and began walking for sure, quite embarrassed. However after a while as Divya sat by the window and pondered over the thought she realized how casually she had said to madhav that she would like to come for his wedding and now that she thought of it, she felt a pang of jealousy for the woman who ever it was going to be who was going to be married to him.
Madhav was a fine gentleman, be it with all the family heirloom that he had or without it, for he had the values that made him the great man that he was. That was something quite rare in people nowadays.
However as that thought went away she couldn't help but think about the meeting. The milange certificate had gone under a few changes due to the certifications that the organization had done in its guidelines that only meant that the event wouldn't be held even in March and was now shifted in May. Somehow that gave yet another hope to her...there was yet another month for her to enjoy her college life and make her friendship with Nandini, Natasha, simran, Madhav and the boys a bit stronger.
