Chapter 3
Ezra's P.O.V
I looked over at Sabine when she yelled out Zeb's name. She knows him? Sabine looked as shocked as I was to see Zeb here. I looked back at the still body of the wealthy teen who picked on me since I was young. "You know him?" Hera asked Sabine. "Yeah, we go to school together or a least we did," Sabine said.
"What does that mean?" Kanan asked. "He was suspended from school for a couple of days but then the school was bombed and some other places," she explained. Sabine was distant when she said the last part and I knew why. She still hasn't gotten over her adopted parents being killed in the bombing.
Hera got the memo to and squeezed Sabine's shoulder to provide comfort. Sabine shyly smiled at Hera in a way of thanking her. Kanan still kept an eye on the bully with the stick pointing at him. "So what do we do with him?" Kanan asked. I looked at everyone but no one seemed to know.
Finally Hera spoke up, "Sabine, you are coming with me to find a long and sturdy vine. Kanan and Ezra, watch him." With that said, Hera and Sabine disappeared into the trees. I grabbed my own stick and helped watch Zeb.
I wasn't sure how long it has been until me and Kanan hear a grown. I looked over and saw that Zeb was waking up. Me and Kanan pointed our sticks at Zeb in case he decides to leap at one of us again. Zeb's eyes fluttered open. My hands began to get sweaty and shaky. Who won't be scared when the person who stabbed and ganged up on you won't be.
When I looked him in the eye, there was something different. His eyes were like foggy dew in the morning when it was misty. It didn't even seem like he was with us like his head was in the clouds. Zeb just stared at us blankly, doing nothing to escape any time soon. Me and Kanan gave each other a nervous look then trained our sight back on the teen.
After a while, we heard something running towards us. I didn't know what to do or if I should turn and lose all my focus on Zeb. Kanan decided to turn and calmed down. Then that calm face turned into terrified. I dared to glance back and see what was happening.
My heart almost stopped when I saw Sabine and Hera being chased by a bunch of wealthy people. "RUN!" Sabine said, me and Kanan didn't have to be told twice. I turned to run but was pounced on by Zeb. "You're coming with me Emile," Zeb said blankly. I struggled under Zeb's hold and Kanan tried to get Zeb off of me but it wasn't working. "Go!" I yelled at Kanan. "I'm not leaving you Ezra," Kanan said and kept trying.
I looked up to see that Sabine and Hera and the huge group of wealthy people getting closer. Was this the end of me and my new family? Fate had other ideas when a midget tackled Zeb off of me and fought against him. "Copper!" Kanan yelled but Copper was to busy fighting Zeb. Hera and Sabine stood next to us. "We need to help him," Hera said urgently.
"No, we need to run," Kanan said stopping Hera from going over to Copper. Hera struggled in his hold but Kanan held her with both hands on her arms and looked her straight in the eye. "Hera, it's to late for him," Kanan said, "We need to go now!" Hera looked over at Copper who somehow got Zeb under him and gave us a sad smile.
Hera nodded sadly and we all ran. I looked back to find the wealthy people surrounding Copper and piling around to get him.
A while later, we finally stopped running. I looked over and saw Hera sitting on her legs and hiding her face in her hands, crying. Kanan was at her side to comfort her and held her in his arms. I sat on the ground out of breath. Sabine sat next to me also breathing for air too. "Who.....was.......that?" She asked. "Friend," was all I said and looked at Hera, "Brother."
"I didn't.....know Hera had a brother," Sabine said. "Not related b-by blo-od, by bond," I replied. "Oh," was all Sabine said sad for Hera's loss, "déjà vu." I looked at Sabine with curiosity, "what that?" "It means that this seems like a similar situation that happened to me," Sabine said, "I just can't put my finger on it." I thought about it too and realized that this does seem familiar.
That's when it hit me. "Us," I barley said. "Wha-" Sabine then paused when she realized what I meant. "I remember what happened," Sabine said, "When I fell out of the treehouse, I wasn't out all the way, I was barely conscious. Then, I remember these people wearing all white but I thought I was dreaming." I was shocked, "Trooper make Sabine dis-appear."
Everything was making sense now. Troopers found Sabine in the forest and changed her into a wealthy person but she never became a full one cause she wasn't a bratty princess. She was nice and caring like a sister of any kind would be. I am glad to see her again, even though I didn't know that I had a sister until two weeks ago.
"We need to find somewhere to hide," I heard Kanan say. Me and Sabine looked over at the couple. "Where are we going to go?" Sabine asked, "Crazy rich people are lurking through the trees, the Empire wants our heads, and something tells me that we are completely lost!" I haven't seen Sabine so mad before and making a mental note not to get her or Hera mad, ever. "Sabine, calm down," Hera sniffed, "Yelling isn't going to solve anything."
Sabine head fell in shame, "I'm sorry." "Let's just get some rest," Kanan said, "It's been a long day. We'll hide in the bushes." We started to move branches around and get comfy under the leaves. "Goodnight everyone," I heard Hera say. Before I fell asleep, I looked around the outside of the bush. When I was about to fall asleep, a boot stepped in front of the bush that I was in.
