It was a beautiful day at camp Campbell the birds were chirping, flowers were blooming and the fish jumped out of the lake; what was left of them after the crazy summer.

David got up slowly sighing a bit. "Its the last day of camp."

Gwen got up excited. "Its the last day of fucking camp! Woohoo!"

"Gwen how can you be so cheerful on a day like this?" David asked a bit hurt.

"Because the more annoying kids go home. Dont get me wrong theyre good kids... But damn it took a while to get there." She said cracking her back. "It will be nice to sleep in my bed at home."

"That last part I can understand. But I had a great time with the kids. Even if they hated me." David said.

"They didn't hate you. They were just mad at thier parents like Max was." Gwen said trying to cheer him up.

"No Max hated his parents before he got to camp." David said remembering parents day.

"That's right... I almost forgot parents day if it weren't for that moment..." She said a little sad.

"What if they dont come for him?" David asks.

"What?" Gwen asks back slightly confused.

"What if Max's parents dont come for him today. What are we gonna do?" He asked.

"I, I honestly don't know David. But we'll cross that bridge when we get there." Gwen said trying to stay positive.

"I'm gonna take him home." He said aloud but wasn't directed at her.

"Wait what?" She asked.

"Sorry, um if Max doesn't get picked up then I'll take him home... He deserves a home with a guardian who will care for him." David said mind wandering a bit.

"David you cant do that." Gwen said trying to get him to not do this.

"And why not?" He asked annoyed.

"There's a lot of legal Bullshit you have to go through to give him that better life." She said. "Are you willing to go through court to get one kid a better life?" She asked not out of spite. But out of genuine curiosity.

David sighed. "Id do it in a heartbeat. Not just for Max if he had a good life... Id do it for any kid who deserves better. Because sure I may not be the best parent right now... But lord knows I'd try my best."

"You know David. My first impression of you was wrong. Your not a wishy washy hopeless loser. Your a great guy with a big heart who always puts others before himself." She said then hugged him. "I'm gonna miss you."

"Me too Gwen, me too." He said hugging back. "If we end up in the same area after camp ends, wanna hang out?"

"Sure... I'd kinda like that." She said.

He smiled. There was a knock at the door.

"Who is it?" David asked.

"Parents are here." The Quartermaster said then walked off.

David jumped out of bed hastily got dressed and ran out the door. "Ohmigosh why wasn- aaaaaugh!" He screamed as he was hit by a car.

Gwen sighed but chuckled. "David, you loveable goofball." She said dressing.

Everyone said Thier goodbyes. However as the kids began leaving David noticed that his prediction might have been right. Because Max's parents had yet to show up.

Gwen noticed as well. She checked on David. "You ok David?"

"Yeah, I'm fine... Wait what's that?" He asked as a car pulled up. "Can I help you?" He asked into the car as the window rolled down.

"Is Max here?" The driver asked.

"Yes." David said.

"Good" the driver said and sped off.

This got David mad which was very very hard to do.

"David?" Gwen asked putting a hand on his shoulder after he went through all thier training equipment and was breathing heavily.

"The nerve of some people!" David said angrily.

"Say what you want to say." Gwen said.

"Those. Those... Fucking assholes!" He yelled.

"Feel better?" She asked.

"Much. But I'm still pissed." He said.

"Dont cry for the stupid you'll be weeping all day." She said rembering a video she watched.

"Ok. If you say so." David said not knowing how exactly that tied in but it cooled him off.

Gwen looked around. "Now where is Max?"
