That last "unfortunately" gave Gabriel a melancholy state of mind. Potentially because although he felt Nathalie's happiness radiate through her very obvious smile, the shiny look of her deep blue eyes gave the impression that she was about to cry. And indeed she did.

A few seconds after their last word exchange the woman's eyes overflowed with salty tears which immediately raced down her cheek, and to no surprise the designer's smile faded away as fast as it appeared.

"Nath-" he began to utter, but was cut right off.

"No!" Said she "Don't worry yourself, sir. I-It's j-just quite a lot to imagine."

"O-of course-...it must be." The man sighed
"And I'm sorry for it."

"Well it's alright, at least you're understanding of it."

"O-of course-" Gabriel's eyes moved towards Adrien for some strange reason, and even the kid stared back confused.

It was almost as if the designer would've indicated that his son was as much of an accident as that baby his assistant was carrying. But even though shocked, the teenager didn't want to think of it that way.
So instead the blond boy just shrugged and smiled:

"At least you're understanding, father."

"Thank you, Adrien." He turned away, clearly communicating with his gestures that he didn't need a response from his son in the first place, in fact, now that he has gotten one, it ruined everything.

"Well-...shall we-...move on?" The woman proposed as she felt the atmosphere get quite tense between all of them.

"Yes, I suppose." Her boss said with not a very reassuring tone, still upsetting the teenager by his irritating behavior.
Yet Adrien didn't do anything. The boy just froze and watched as the two adults walked away from him.
Leaving the kid to feel incredible sorrow.
As if he was the problem instead of the baby.
Or maybe both.

"Sorry about tonight." Whispered quietly Gabriel as he gave his employee a little nudge whilst she sat beside him on the bed, motionless.

"It's fine." She answered plainly. Painfully plainly, making the man's heart feel so desolated that it almost perished.

Regardless of that, the designer still attempted to reach a little closer to the woman in hopes of getting a smile, or maybe just something that wouldn't make him feel so terrible.
However as his hand brushed along hers, Nathalie almost immediately flinched. Causing both of them to jump and then end up further away then they were in the first place.

"Sorry." Said Gabriel for the hundredth time tonight. "I didn't-"

"-I know." The assistant mumbled "I know that you're only trying to make me smile, but I can't right now. I-...I'm not in a cheerful mood."

"Y-yes I noticed that. A-and of course I respect your space, but-..."

"But?" She asked
"But what?"

"But do you totally hate me? Did I ruin everything?"

"No! That's silly! You didn't ruin everything-...just-...rearranged my future plans. Now instead of looking after Adrien, I'll be looking after my own." Nathalie chuckled unexpectedly "That's weird to say, and I presume weird to hear as well, right? Especially coming from such a cold, distant person like me, who definitely isn't mother material."

"Well it is a bit shocking I can't lie, but I know you'll be great, you always were great whenever taking care of Adrien, and of course I'll try to help, although-...I'm even less of a father material than you are of mother material."

They both laughed in agreement, and finally the grey haired man didn't need to feel so horrible about himself.
Finally he could smile at his employee without feeling as if he would've completely destroyed all her life, although he partially did, only a little bit though.
At least it was still repairable.
And at least she still allowed him to be with her, at least Nathalie didn't totally block out her superior from her life after the incident, because that would've surely crumpled him down.

"We'll be great parents Gabriel!" an enthusiastic cheer brought the designer back into reality. "...a-and we'll take good care of him or her, right?"
That same voice now slowly fade into misery, in fact soon instead of the voice a quiet sniff followed by cries was heard.

"Oh Nathalie..." The designer sighed seeing this sorry sight "of course we'll be great parents." he wrapped his arms around her "...the best of the very best even."

"You mean it?"

"I mean it with all my heart." Gabriel reassured as he kissed the top of Nathalie's head, by those gestures giving his employee a sense of comfort which she so very much needed right this second.
And thankfully enough with a few more reassuring back taps and slight kisses the designer managed to not only calm down, but also fully stop the dark haired woman's crying.

"Thank you." The assistant managed to whisper "...that was all very sweet and kind of you to do, sir." She smiled weakly, tears still shining brightly in her eyes, ready to fall out any second.

"Please." Said he "I simply don't want you to feel bad in any way, especially since today has already been a roller coaster of emotions and events for everyone."

"R-right." The woman nodded.
She now tilted her head against the
shoulder of her boss and after taking off her glasses, Nathalie tiredly rubbed her eyes.

It indeed had been a very exhausting as well as draining day for her.
So many emotion changes, yet still she couldn't make up her mind about the future.
Everything was so unclear and unplanned that the organized, workaholic woman absolutely hated this because she had no clear idea or plan which she always had in any situation, except now. Now she had to trust her boss, trust herself, and trust that everything would be fine.
But other than trust, Nathalie had absolutely no reassurance, which was quite risky for someone who's future and reputation is on the line.

To be continued-
