34.
Hey this is a bad chapter, but I really am so tired and just can't write right now, so please forgive me.
"Adrien we really aren't though-" The assistant interrupted out of nowhere "Me and your father-...we-...it was all an accident-"
"Right." Gabriel added, chuckling "All an accident son, all those times we were together and said "I love you", it was all an accident."
He looked over to his assistant who stared back at him with a fed up frown.
"Sir what the-" Nathalie was about to argue, but then suddenly, the voice of her superior became louder than hers and like that the woman got cut off.
"Nathalie, Adrien wasn't going to believe you!" Said the man "Everyone knows we've been together."
"EVERYONE?!?!"
"Well okay not everyone." Gabriel rephrased his own words "...but I'm pretty sure that all those articles and fake news have mentioned us being a couple at least a million times. It is obvious Nathalie! I'm a widowed man with no one to love and you're just my heartless little assistant who I've trusted since forever. It's obvious!"
"Sir! No it's not! It was just a coincidence! You're talking nonsense!"
"Nathalie." Said he in a quiet tone which totally caught the assistant off guard as she expected his voice to be louder than hers, yet now it wasn't, instead it became quiet and fragile, in fact, before she could've even comprehend why her boss sounded like that, he appeared closer to her, now much closer.
"...even I myself admit that I knew this would happen."
Gabriel said again, softly, however Nathalie didn't interpret that the right way.
"You knew you were gonna get me pregnant?!?!" She exclaimed loudly "You planned this?!?!" Nathalie began to get more and more concerned, but thankfully as her boss shook his head vigorously, her bad thoughts slowly disappeared.
"No not that!! I knew that we'd get together." Gabriel explained "I never planned to get you, my assistant, pregnant! I'm not that much of a psycho. I only knew that we'd end up like this, sooner or later."
"Oh but we aren't together Gabriel!!"
"We could be." Said the designer with a little hope as he tried to get a smile or agreeing look from his employee, but he didn't, Nathalie still looked the same, troubled and anxious.
"Stop it!" She shouted smacking his hand away. "Don't be stupid it won't ever work out!" The woman turned away as an attempt to leave, but obviously her boss couldn't let that happen so soon.
Therefore without even wasting a second Gabriel reached to grab her arm
"Nath please-" he begged
"We've already talked this through!" She spat back, giving the grey haired man an intense, cold stare.
"Also weren't you just fuming a second ago?!?"
"Well-...firstly, third time is a charm and love is complicated...so why not give it another try?"
"Gabriel-"
"Secondly" he cut her off "...blame the alcohol, I'm sorry I'm still not fully myself, but I'm trying to be normal."
"Gabriel I don't care! I don't want you in my life anymore, now let go of me!"
"But Nath!"
"Enough!" She screamed "Let me leave! I want to be home!" The assistant cried, causing her superior to realize that once again, he messed up very bad.
In fact this was probably the hundredth time that he has messed up this night, but Gabriel couldn't help it, he was both too drunk and too tired to act like a proper adult.
Although he did attempt.
But obviously it didn't work out.
By now his Nathalie was crying uncontrollably, and the second that the designer focused back into reality he saw that his son was much quicker than him, as Adrien was already trying to comfort the dark haired woman.
"Nathalie, Nathalie don't worry." Whispered the blond boy quietly whilst holding one of his 'mother's' arms "...you can go home, no one is holding you back."
"I-...Adrien I c-can't-"
"What why? What's wrong?"
"I'm not leaving you, in fact I can't leave you. I'd miss the both of you so very much and I hate to admit it, but your father was right, in the very beginning I was crying my eyes off because I missed this job and the Agreste mansion more than anyone would or could ever. I mean I seriously think I'm insane because I can't leave this family, even though I'm not even apart of it. I'm only an assistant b-but I fell-...I feel like much more."
"Oh Nath." The child smiled sweetly "You're like a mom to me, not just an assistant. You're special to the both of us and I'm sure that father loves you very much even if right now he is acting like a total bitch."
"I'm not acting like a total bitch!" Shouted the designer angrily which instantly made both the boy and the dark haired woman giggle.
"Yeah okay father, I know you're trying your best, but I'm just attempting to comfort Nathalie."
"Oh so to make her happy you need to insult me?!?!"
"Sir!" The assistant interrupted chuckling "It was only a joke! I'm sorry, Adrien is sorry too. He didn't mean it. You're a good dad...or at least trying to be one which is a great thing, I'm proud of you."
"Please." Gabriel scoffed "you don't really mean that now do you?" He said looking at his assistant and expecting her to burst out laughing hysterically, yet to his surprise she didn't at all, she only smiled gently and shook her head whilst wiping those sad looking tears away.
"Sir I meant it. I know that really deep down you're trying to be a good father, even if no one can see it and it appears as if you've not at all done anything, I know that you improved, I know. You're trying and that's all that matters."
"You're not joking right now Nathalie, are you?" Gabriel asked with a shaking voice as suddenly his feelings felt so overwhelming and strong that he didn't know what to do or how to act.
The tears just seemed to automatically pour out of his eyes although he wasn't even that sad.
"I'd never joke around!" The woman's voice brought him back "...you know when I'm in my workplace I'm professional and serious, plus I'd never lie to you, sir. My most trusted boss and...well-...the father of this child inside of me, unfortunately.
