32.
The assistant thought quitting her job would be easy.
She'd just say goodbye to Gabriel and like that everything would be fixed.
Yet the exact opposite was happening and instead of her life being better without him, it got worse.
Now she couldn't even go a day, hour, minute, or a single second without thinking about the man and his family.
They were constantly in her mind.
Adrien, Gabriel himself, and Emilie.
Those three haunted Nathalie like a group of demons.
She couldn't get rid of them, not even when she began surroundings herself with other people.
Even then she found herself thinking of her boss as soon as someone did one little thing like he used to do.
Not to mention the same being with Adrien.
As soon as the woman would encounter a small child or a teenage boy, she'd instantly think of Adrien and how sweet of a kid he was.
She missed them, that was the honest truth, yet the assistant shook her head whenever she would've tried to text or call her old family.
She couldn't possibly go back, it would destroy her, however she missed them so much that the lack of the Agreste's presence destroyed her even more.
So with an incredibly painful sigh Nathalie pushed her phone away for the hundredth time today and laid back on her bed with tears constantly flowing out of her eyes.
"Fuck, I can't do this anymore." She cried "I just-...need Gabriel..."
But right when she was totally reconsidering her life, a tiny beeping noise made the woman turn her head immediately.
Her phone glowed, and a message notification popped up.
Without hesitation Nathalie immediately jumped up and grabbed the device as fast as she could to see whom it was, yet instead of "Gabriel (Mr Agreste)" it said "Adrien"
So although the assistant was a bit flabbergasted, she still clicked the message and read the child's full text which said the following:
"Dear Nathalie, I assume you're busy as you've not picked up any of my phone calls, and therefore I apologize for disturbing you in your free time, but this issue of mine is urgent!
Father has began drinking and arguing with himself since 2am, and he won't stop yelling or throwing things, so with all due respect concerning your own private life, I hope that you can still make some time to sort out this issue.
-lots of love, Adrien."
He wrote letters just like his father which absolutely melted the woman's heart.
How could she ever be mad at such an angel boy like the designer's very own son?
Adrien meant no harm to anyone, he only ever intended to make people happy.
Now of course Nathalie felt horrible for ignoring him, except in reality she was only ignoring her previous boss, not his kid.
Adrien had nothing to do with the stuff that had the woman furious, it was instead all his father's fault.
But he didn't know, so obviously asking for the assistant's help made sense, and thought she should've just said no, she couldn't.
Nathalie got up, dusted her pijamas off and then without even getting dressed or fixing her hair, the woman walked downstairs to her car, there she unlocked the vehicle before getting in and turning it on.
"Oh god." The assistant sighed knowing she'd regret this later, but as of right now her emotions were too strong and she knew she had to fix some things which were happening over at the Agreste mansion.
So without thinking further, she drove.

In the meantime Gabriel was still going strong with the shots as he didn't stop, one after another until he felt his head hit the table.
Then after everything started to form into blurry waves, his vision soon cut out and the designer no longer heard or saw a thing.
He simply lied there as if he would've been dead.
In fact he probably would've stayed like that for the entire night if his previous working partner wouldn't have busted the door down and ran to his aid, because as soon as Nathalie arrived, she began fixing things.
"Sir? SIR! Goddamn it Gabriel wake up!" The woman screamed, but nothing.
Her harsh yell only made the teenage boy come
downstairs, but it didn't do what she would've wanted it to do, as it surely didn't wake up the grey haired man.
The designer was still sleeping soundly.
"Is father dead?" A concerned little whisper came from Adrien as he approached Nathalie.
"No-no he is fine I'm sure. Just...very drunk."
"Y-yeah I-I hope s-so b-because...you know he's been drinking all night nonstop! I'm worried Nath." The boy said before quickly wrapping his arms around the dark haired woman who was just as shocked as Gabriel was drunk.
VERY.
"Oh Adrien, there's no need to worry. He'll wake up in a couple of hours and we'll laugh about this by tomorrow, you understand?"
"Mhm."
"Good, now let's go and sleep because you have school tomorrow and it's already six in the morning!"
"B-but N-nath..." he whined "...for one day can I just please skip, I haven't even slept at all a-and-"
"Fine" the assistant rolled her eyes thinking about the consequences, yet she couldn't have watched her precious boy go to school all exhausted and tired.
So she had to agree, under one condition...
"...but if Mr Agreste gets mad I'm blaming it on you."
"Sure" the kid shrugged "I don't care if he calls me irresponsible because he just got himself blackout drunk!"
"Well...fair enough. Now go sleep! You still need rest even if you're staying home."
"Okay Nath!" Adrien smiled before hugging his replacement mother one more time and then running upstairs. "Good night to you too."
"Right, I'll definitely have one."
The woman responded sarcastically as she laid eyes again on her superior who was absolutely wasted.
He looked worse than someone who would've been hit unconscious.
It was almost as if he was really dead like Adrien feared him to be, but every once in a while a little sonar would be heard and then Nathalie knew that Gabriel was still breathing.
So now all she could do was pull a chair beside him and observe the man until he'd wake up.
