Chapter 5: Remember

Rosy walked in first, her feet touching the soft wood floor cold beneath her feet, but she didn't feel it. She started to look around and felt like everything she was seeing she had seen before. Talk about Deja Vu.

"We haven't change anything since you left, so nothing's new and pretty much everything is in the same place," her mom said walking beside her as they went further in, dad closing the door. As Rosy looked around she didn't realize she stopped at a room cover in a color she didn't know how to describe, but a beautiful color even when it was a little faded with age.

"This was your room," her mom said smiling with her hand to the door. "I remember the day we painted your room this color," she sighed looking back at Rosy. "We were walking outside, all three of us, and you were a little bit older than one, so around five weeks old in the Below," she remembered as she smiled sadly.

"Wait I was five weeks old?" Rosy questioned. Are these people for real? "You have to understand we age differently, and a lot of the reason why is because of the land you live in. If you lived here you age faster but stop aging when you are 18 till..." her mom paused. "Till later," she said laughing a little. "Anyway, in the Below you age a lot slower. If you think about it, if you lived here you would have been 18 for maybe around 16 or 17 years in the Below, because you would have stopped aging even when you..." she said trailing off.

Wait I would be 18, an adult at the age of 2? What did she mean by 'even when you...' is there something I don't know. Of course there something I don't know a part of my memory was erased for crying out loud! "Should I continue?" Her mom said coming toward Rosy as if to check to see if she was alright. Nodding for her mom to continue she started her story and images flashed in Rosy mind, her memory of that day...

"Rosy. Rosy! Come on we have to go see the Green family today," mom called for me to come down. I looked around in the tree I was in with a purple color to it and fell down, landing on my feet. "But mom I don't want to go," I pouted, tapping my foot. Mom smiled at me, "You will like this family, there's a boy around your age, it will be fun to hang out with him," she smiled at me a little worried.

I knew she was worried because I didn't have any friends. I'm not to outgoing so I don't have that much friends. I love trees though, I jump into different ones all the time, not one of the trees are the same even when some look alike. No one likes them, all they want to do is talk. Talk about their new dragon scales and how they can already change but I guess I'm different, I can't change. I'm ment to be alone. That's okay but that's why I don't want to go to the Green family's house, no one understands. So I like to just listen to the wind as it blows my hair in my face. There's nothing like it.

"Sweetie, you really need to be more out there. How do you know you won't make friends who are just like you if you don't go out looking for them?" Mom said smiling, there was no room for arguing. I was going.

Though her words comforted me I knew there was no one like me, no one alive was like me, I just didn't belong anywhere. "Now let's go get dad," mom said taking my hand, we left.

"Daddy," I said laughing, running up to him as he carried me up. Throwing me in the air then catch me, it felt like I had wings everytime I was lifted in the air and then he would catch. Then I was force to the realization that I would never be like them. "Do you want to get training?" Dad asked me taking my hand to go to our usual spot. "No Richard, she going to the Green's house with me. Remember," mom argued taking my other hand.

Dad just smiled and started to swing me back and forth, but it was a little uncomfortable without mom doing it to. Giggling I started to swing with him. Sighing mom gave up, smiling now and started to swing me too. Everytime I got high enough they would let me go to catch me.

We must have done this for a long time because my arms were starting to hurt but I never wanted to leave. After a while they got tired to and stopped swing but we still walked hand in hand, as family.

I stopped at a tree, gasping at the sight, it was beautiful. "Mom, dad what is that?" I pointed to the tree, I meant the color of the tree but they already knew that. "That color is agápi," Dad replied picking me up, looking me, his eyes looked just like mine. Dad said they were special, our eyes, no one had the same color eyes as we did. Mom went to go talk to a friend, as dad stayed to tell me the story.

"What's agápi?" I said staring at the color in front of me. "An old color. A long time ago the two places, the Below and the Land were at War," he said scrunching up his nose, with both of us laughing he continued. "For years it went on, and there was almost no hope for the war. The war was driving the two world crazy, they were colliding and falling together," he sighed as if he remembered the time, hundred of years before him.

"The two worlds that were never met to collide. Well not yet anyway, the two worlds were dieing slowly, and the people were going mad," he paused looking down at me, nodding my head he smiled sadly and continued. "People were killing each other, families the very ones that loved you were the ones that were killing you, families were driven apart," he said no longer smiling, I myself was on the verge of crying. "But," he said tickling my side, instantly lifting the mood.

"Sir Velaz guelas didn't like what was going on so he cut down all these trees and made flag out of them the flags were called aģapi. Well the color was called that, in greek aģapi means 'love'. He wanted the two worlds to love one another. When he went to the people of the Below he told them he wanted peace and love. When they looked at the flags though they thought it was an act of war, so they killed him."

"So it brought a war between the two sides never seen before, people died before it ever got better. We finally banished those bad guys," he said lifting me up and down as if to make this story less despressing. It didn't work. "The thing was he chopped down all the trees that had the color aģapi which was about 7 trees in total. But he saved 1 seed which we planted and this tree grew, we collected more seeds from this tree and there was more trees," he said putting me down touching the tree.

"This is my favorite color, it symbolizes love and that we can have peace, maybe one day that will happen, two worlds living in peace instead of chaos," he answered me, kneeling down to be eye leveled with me. "One day that special person will come and join the two worlds together. Someone unlike anyone else will bring the two worlds to love each, in harmony," he promised as we started to see mom who left to talk to a friend come back.

Before we reached her though I pulled dad behind a tree and turned to him excitingly. "Who is it? Who's the person?" I demanded waiting for the answer. Someone going to bring peace to this world and I would want to meet the person who was going to. I would definitely be their friend if they wanted to be mine. "No one knows," he said trailing off as I started to pout. "But I have no doubt that they will be the bestest, most amazing person in this world," he said smiling, looking up at me as if he knew who it was. Before I could ask him again, knowing he knew who it was, mom came before I could ask.

Dad took a piece of the bark and gave it to me. When we walked home I went to my room and put it down on my bed. Walking out I waved bye to them and started jumping from tree to tree none of them that beautiful color, aģapi, but it was still fun. When I came back to go inside the house, the sun was already starting to set, and I entered my room painted with my new favorite color. Aģapi, love, this color is a beautiful reminder that there is love around us and we will have peace and love in the world again, and I can't wait to see who the person is going to be. I thought at I closed my eyes to go to sleep...

"Rosy are you alright," Rosy's mom said worrying leaning over Rosy with a dry towel to wipe the sweat away. "Yeah," Rosy said getting up from off her bed realizing she was in her room. I'm pretty sure I remember this bed being smaller, or was it always this size? "My head just hurts that's all," Rosy replied as dad came in. "Was this bed smaller?" Rosy asked her mom. "Yes, everytime we assumed you would grow out of your old bed we bought a new one, a bigger one, pretending you would come home to sleep in it. Now you can," she smiled taking my hand in her's before leaving the room. I didn't say anything. What do you say to that?

"Ahh I see you have found your room I'm sorry I had to talk to one of the leaders, but nothing important," her dad laughed, brushing it off. He looked around the room as if he hadn't seen it in years, "Wow this color..." But before he could finish Rosy did remembering her dream. "This is your favorite color as it is mine," she acknowledged knowing what she said was true. "Aģapi it means love, the color is a symbol of love and one day someone will bring the two worlds together," Rosy replied, remembering her dream.

"You remember? Is your memory coming back to you?" Her dad said looking into her eyes the ones that looked just like his. Was it a memory? Am I starting to remember? Rosy shrugged her shoulders not know what to say. "Do you hear that Suzy," he said turning to mom. Suzy? Realizing she left turned back to Rosy, "What do you remember, do you remember Jack?" He whispered looking to see if any recognization flashed in her eyes. It didn't.

"Who Jack? A friend of yours?" Rosy questioned knowing something seemed off. "No he wasn't my friend," her dad laughed a little, "He was yours. He would have loved to see you again" he sighed looking at the bark on the table. "Wait what do you mean 'he would have,' why can't I just go see him?" Rosy said getting a little impatient. Why do I feel like I don't know anything? "Well he's was sort of your only friend, but he's gone now," he said looking around uncomfortable at the turn this conversation just headed in.

Her mom was the first to break the uncomfortable silence, "Lunch is ready," she said walking out the door again. Looking back at her dad who was already heading out the door Rosy sighed followed her dad out the door.

Though the food in front of her looked so good she didn't feel to hungry. She took her fork moving her broccoli back and forth. Why is broccoli green? It couldn't have been purple, blue, or different colors. Well it's better than brown because that's the color you will find in the Below. Green. Green. Why did that name sound familiar. Name! I was suppose to have a play date with the Green family. Jack Green? Was that his name? Was he the one I was suppose to meet? "Rosy, please eat you have a big night ahead of you. You should really eat something," her mom pleaded, looking at Rosy's plate she didn't even touch.

"Yeah you being meeting a lot of people. My friend's son is going to be there and he can't wait to meet you," her dad said between mouth fulls. Some guy I don't know wants to know who I am? Son. Son. Jack. Jackson Green. Though Rosy didn't know if that was his name she had a feeling it was. Jackson Green was the person she was suppose to meet. But did that mean he was also her friend too? Is there any other Jack? Uhhh I hate not knowing things. Especially when I feel like I'm so close to an answer and yet so far. Realizing it was hopeless, she was at a dead end she started eating her food.
