Red

Skylar
I stepped out of my car with Shelby. She looked up at the sign labeled, Olive Garden. She smiled and shook her head. "I can't believe we let Jess pick the place." I smiled. "Well, she was excited so, whatever." We walked into the restaurant and told the hostess our group. She led us to a table in the corner of the restaurant. Adam and Alesa were sitting at the table with Red. I waved at them and sat next to Red. "So where's your date, Marvin Gaye?" I said grinning. He shook his head and smiled. "Turns out she had a boyfriend the whole time." I frown. "What? How did you not find out until now?" He shrugged and took a sip of his water. I studied his facial expression. Alesa looked at me and shook her head. I shrugged and looked around the restaurant for the others.

Five minutes later, the rest of the group came and sat at the table. Everyone was talking and laughing after we ordered our food. I laughed with Alesa about Rascal biting Adam's toe. Ross was next to me talking with Adam and Red. Max was talking with Jason and Tim. "So how is it going with you and Max so far, Shelby?" Jess asked. She glanced at Max who was sitting next to her. She leaned in towards us. "I think it's going well, but I can't be sure. He's been talking to the guys all night." She looked at her empty plate. I frowned. Alesa shook her head. "Well, he'll pay attention to you eventually." Jess nodded. "Yeah, plus if things don't go well with Max, Red's single." The girls smiled and laughed. I looked at the table. "Yeah." I glanced at Red. He was laughing with Adam. I sucked in my lips and this weird tingling feeling entered my body. What am I feeling? Why do I feel like this when I look at him now? I like Ross, I don't like Red. I looked up at Red. He turned at noticed me. He smiled and winked. I smiled and looked away. Right?

After we ate and split the check, everyone split up and went to the bathroom. I waited by the door. Shelby came by me. "You sure you don't have to use the bathroom?" I nodded. "Yeah, I'll just wait by the wooden swing in the porch." She shrugged. "Okay." She walked into the bathroom. I walked out of the restaurant and eyed the swing. I sat down in it kicked my feet on the floor, giving me momentum to swing. I looked at the night sky. The stars, the moon, the planets, the comets were all up there. I leaned back and continued staring. I sighed and closed my eyes. "Beautiful isn't it?" I opened my eyes and sat up. Red was looking down at me. "Oh, didn't see you there." He nodded at the swing. "Can I sit?" I nodded and he sat next to me. He looked up at the sky. "You know, there are so many stars in the universe, more than scientists can estimate." I looked up at the sky and nodded. "Yeah, new ones are born and some die out." He stared at the sky and leaned back. "Like opportunities, new ones are created everyday, then some just die out." he said, still staring at the sky. I nodded and scanned the sky. He scanned it as well. "Which is why opportunities shouldn't be wasted. Especially when they're special." I looked at him. He sat up straight up and looked down. "Can I tell you something that you can't tell anyone?" I nodded. "Yeah, of course." He looked at me. "When I little, I thought opportunities were just big words for little meanings. And I never did anything. I never took risks because I was scared and I thought I wouldn't be protected." His eyes softened and he looked away. "Then, I grew up and I realized opportunities were the other way around, little words with big meanings. So I had a big meaning." My eyes softened and I smiled. "I Didn't know you were so poetic." He shrugged. "Well, I know more now. When I was with my ex-girlfriend, she made me feel like a little word, with no meaning. Now, I know I have a bigger meaning." I looked at the ground. "Opportunities shouldn't be wasted. Opportunities are big words with big meanings. So you shouldn't waste an opportunity when you see one." I said. He looked at me. I looked up at him and my body melted. I knew what was going to happen. He stared at me and smiled. "Your right." I wanted to look away. I wanted to stay with Ross and respect him because I liked him and only him. But when I look at Red, I feel something. Something that I can't describe. He picked up my face and stared into my eyes. I looked into his and I knew. I closed my eyes and he closed his. But it's wrong. I opened my eyes and prayed for them to be here, when the girls and guys showed up. I stood up and walked over by them. "Took you guys long enough." They laughed and we headed for our cars. I looked back at Red who was trailing behind Adam. I turned and walked towards him. He looked up at me. I smiled and kissed him softly in the cheek. Then I walked back in front, knowing Red will be okay.
