Chapter 3
" Let me get this straight." Captain Treville said as he leaned against his desk, located in his office. "Your brother, is planning to kill the King and Queen? How? Why?" He asked raising his voice a little by the end.
" Yes, don't know and don't know." She answered his questions in order. "But what I do know, is that this is my brother. Whatever he is planning will be big, I can assure you on that."
" I want guards on the King and Queen at all times. They are not allowed to be alone at any given moment." Captain Treville ordered looking to Athos.
" That will be a waste of manpower. No." Renee said while turning her back to the musketeers. Her head fell into her right hand while her right arm rested on her left arm which was crossed over her stomach. Her hat was held in her left hand hanging by her right side.
" Then what do you suggest? We let them go unguarded and an open target?" Athos spoke out, no one answered as Renee continued to think.
" What is it about now? What could make him want to wait so long before..." Renee stopped as if it had hit her like a speeding horse.
" I have to go." Renee said quickly before rushing out of Treville's office and down the stairs.
" Wait! Where are you going! Come back here!" Many yells were called but she listened to none as she rushed over and took a fully saddled horse from the hands of a cadet. The tried to stop her, but she was up and on the horse before they could do anything and she rode out so fast.
" Move! Get out of the way!" She yelled as she pushed through the crowds of the Thursday morning. The people jumped out of the way of the cantering horse. "Move!" She yelled as she bursting through the gates of her mansion and into the courtyard. It was now busy with people following her brother as they worked around the manor. She jumped off her horse while it was still moving and made her way to the door. But two men tried to block her way and all she done was pulled out her pistols and point them at the men.
" Move now, or I will blow your heads off!" She growled to the men. The paled and moved out her road before she had to slow down her pace. Renee kicked open the front doors.
" Armel! " She yelled so deeply that it shook the building. She marched through the house and into the back garden where her brother's men were pointing her. A man opened the door as the raging Renee burst through the doors. She walked up to her brother's back and pointed her pistol at his head.
" Tell me why I should not just blow off your head now and rid myself of future worry?" She growled as she pressed the barrel onto his head. Just then several of her brother's men set their muskets and pistols ready to fire and trained them onto her.
" Because if I die. My men will not allow you to leave alive." Armel chuckled as if he hit check mate.
" One, what makes you think I would want to live after I killed you? I would have nothing left but myself. And two," She began as Armel turned around, her pistol now sat between his eyes. "did you not think I would bring back up?" Renee smirked as six other pistols were cocked and aimed at the men pointing their pistols at her.
" You knew we were coming?" Athos asked while keeping an eye on the man his pistol was trained on.
" Of course, I knew you would not let me slip through your fingers. Plus, it was an easy guess as to where I was heading." Renee said as she pulled back her pistol and set it back into her holster.
" Armel, I do not want to have to kill you. I suggest you and your men vacate my house by dawn tomorrow and leave Paris, in fact, leave France. I never want to see your face again."
" And just why would I do as you say? I am you elder brother!" Armel growled to her.
" You stopped being my brother when I realised you wanted to kill Louis and his wife!" Renee yelled out, D'artagnan went to speak out about why they called their King by his first name. But Aramis put his hand on his chest to stop him. They wanted to see how this argument between siblings panned out. Maybe they may say something of use.
" You know the reason why I want to kill them!" Armel yelled back to her. Renee's jaw clenched tightly at his words.
" They have nothing to do with this! You honestly think they would want blood for their deaths?" She hissed at him throwing her hands about in the process to emphasize her point.
" They might not, but I do! The culprit might already be dead, but his son is still alive! He can be held accountable!"
" Do you even hear yourself, Armel? What happened to the old Armel? The one that used to comfort my when I hurt my knee? Or the one who would always say that any man was never good enough for me?" Renee asked with an almost pleading look in her eyes.
" He dead when they did. And you grew up." He said as he turned to walk away.
" Are you really going to do it then?" Renee asked quietly almost too quiet for him to hear.
" When else is better?" She asked stopping, his back still turned to Renee.
" But why then, why do you want to tarnish it with murder?" Renee asked, not understanding the reason behind his need for that day.
" Because it will be big, and flashy. Perfect for remembering such a death." Armel said as he began to walk away again. "After all, it is the King's birthday celebrations."
" On the anniversary of their death? On our little cousin's birthday?" Renee asked, half the Musketeers chocked while the other two stood shocked.
" Did she just say that King Louis, is her younger cousin?" Aramis asked Athos who stood with his mouth agape.
" Yes, and once they are dead. We can take our rightful place on the throne!" Armel yelled. Stunning everyone into silence.
