Chapter 34 | My Boy
[Chapter 34 | My Boy]
Yoshio sat down on the park bench and watched Kyoya run about. He was a small boy but when he grew up, though Yoshio wouldn't admit he thought so, Kyoya would do amazing things. "Be careful now, don't trip." He said.
This was a commoner park, something he would rather not be in but his young son would beg constantly, wanting a chance to go outside. The boy probably wouldn't remember this when he grew up.
"I know, dad!" Kyoya exclaimed.
"I know you do." Yoshio watched his son move over to the sandpit and start to play, getting the dirty sand all over his expensive clothing. Shame, they'd have to be cleaned when they finally got home.
Yoshio watched his son silently before looking up to the dim sky, thinking of his future.
Though he was far too stubborn and cold to admit, he wanted all of his children to succeed. To gain great wealth of their own and for their family. To find a partner they love with all their heart...whoever that may be.
That day and those thoughts swam through Yoshio's head in the present as he stared at the female hand extended to him.
What he had always wanted for his children was a partner who was strong. A partner that'd make them happy above all.
Truly what he had tone to his son and Jun was bad and he knew that, but in his own twisted mind, he thought it was for his sons own good. He could never be a father open with emotions and desires, but he could show them in a hidden way.
Slowly, he raised his hand.
A part of him still wanted to say no.
A part of him wanted to put this girl through more tests.
He moved his hand forward and took hers, his grip firm. His cold eyes looked up to meet Jun's ones that were filled with determination. A look that said she wouldn't give up.
"This is not a blessing," Yoshio spoke up. "Nor is this a chance." His words were smooth. "This is a reluctant compromise."
"Toning down the big words, you're saying yes? You're going to stop?" Jun questioned.
Yoshio shook her hand. "I suppose,"
Jun grinned wide, her eyes instantly lighting up. Yukimura let out a small squeak of pure joy, clasping her hands together. Finally.
This is what Jun had wanted. This is what they both wanted. "Thank you, sir." Jun let go of his hand. "This means so much." She bowed then stood up straight.
"I expect you to work hard for this to continue, Jun." He then stubbornly added.
"Oh, I know. I'll come over every day if I have to and you can teach me. Not only does this benefit you, but me also as success is always something I've craved in more ways than one." Jun replied, nodding her head.
"You're serious about this?" Yoshio got up, looking her in the eye.
"I've never been more serious in my life, Mr. Ootori." Jun said, staring right back at him rather shamelessly.
The gaze was strong and neither of the two broke it for moments and when they had to break it, Yoshio was the one to. He glanced to the side, looking at Yukimura for a moment then back to Jun. "You will help my business as long as you're with Kyoya."
Jun took a deep breath. "Yes, of course."
Yoshio watched Kyoya walk over to him, his thirteen year old son, who had his entire life ahead of him. "How is school?" He questioned.
"It's going alright," Kyoya replied, voice smooth.
"I understand you allowed someone to beat you in your last exam?" Yoshio cocked a brow. Allowed. He used the word to make it seem as if it was Kyoya's fault, as if the boy had gone up to the person, given them the answers then deliberately fell behind them. Of course, that wasn't the case.
Maybe he was too hard on him, sure but the Ootori family had to thrive.
"Yes, sir." Kyoya didn't even question the wording. He didn't dare to question his father. It would be wrong of him to do so, wouldn't it?
"You're not going to allow that to happen again, are you?" Again, that allow. That allowance, as if it was the boys fault entirely. It wasn't. Of course it wasn't.
"No, sir." Kyoya answered bleakly.
"You're going to beat them, understand? Get better grades then everybody combined in your year." Yoshio stated.
Kyoya took a deep breath. "Yes, of course."
That moment went through Yoshio's mind just now. Ah, how similar these two were.
Eager to please.
Strong.
Blunt.
Cold.
Smart.
Brave.
Both Jun and Kyoya were all those things and even more. There weren't words, at least not ones Yoshio could find and think up right now. Though the man wouldn't admit it, this woman in front of him is utterly perfect for his son.
The stern business man took a deep breath. "I accept you, Jun." He said out of the blue.
Jun rose her eyebrows in surprise to the words she certainly didn't expect to hear from this man. "You accept me?"
"I accept you. I told you before, if it weren't for your status, I may have liked you." Yoshio replied. "If you're going to work hard to change your lower status into a higher one without the help of Kyoya's or the rest of the families earnings, then you will become of our status."
"And as result, you'll like me?" Jun asked.
Yoshio nodded his head slowly. "That's correct."
The atmosphere was tense, yet relaxing.
It was calming yet anxiety-inducing.
The base of their relationship was in the hands of this business man and he was compromising. He was accepting.
"Thank you, sir."
The doors opened wide all of a sudden and everybody in the room turned to see the intruder, or intruders. Yukimura clung to Jun's arm out of reflex, eyes wide.
Standing in the door way was Kyoya, hair ruffled and shirt crumpled, probably from trying to fight and get away from the guards that wouldn't allow him in while his father spoke to Jun. He panted lightly, clearly out of breath. "Jun, are you alright?" Those were his first words and he only looked to her.
Jun's eyebrows raised slightly, mouth parted and she could only stare for a moment at the man she knew as cold and almost uncaring when she met him to now the man she loved and loved her, worried about her, wanted to care for her.
Love was a beautiful thing. It was something before she had not much of an interest in but now it consumed her life. It consumed every edge of it, every grain.
She wouldn't have it any other way.
She couldn't suppress the wide grin that went on her face, eyes lit up. "I'm perfect, right now." She replied. "I could not be better."
Kyoya rose his brows in surprise. He looked to his father, then to Jun. "Do you mean-?"
"Yes," she answered immediately.
Kyoya knew what that meant. He immediately walked over and grabbed his girlfriend, pulling her into a tight embrace. She hugged back and both of them squeezed each other, eyes falling shut.
The two melted in the embrace.
This boy only worried about his grades and this host club before, but now it was different. Now he worried and loved for a single person who was similar to him yet vastly different.
Yoshio was speechless.
