The Labyrinth
Roman's POV:
I walk down the sandy hill towards the labyrinth's gates. I see a small elf looking man standing near a lake, peeing in it. What's his name? I know it starts with an h. God, what was it?
"Um...excuse me?" I say.
The man quickly zips up his pants and turns around to face me. "Oh. You must be Roman." He grabs some weird ass device and starts killing faeries, from which I remember from the movie, faeries in this are evil creatures that like to bite.
I walk after him and say, "Yes, I am. Do you know where Virgil is?"
"King Jareth told me not to tell you."
I raise my eyebrows. "Why not?"
He looks up at me. "No one knows where Virgil is. And according to Queen Sarah, we must respect his privacy."
"Queen Sarah...?" I don't remember there being a queen!
He sighs. "She came to the labyrinth and defeated King Jareth. But when she returned home, her parents treated her harshly. Then she asked to come back when she turned 17 so King Jareth let her in. Then they fell in love and married. They've been married for 15 years."
"Virgil did say that he always shipped them..." I whisper.
"What?"
"Oh...uhh...nothing. I was talking to myself."
He nods. "You humans are weird."
"Umm...how do I get to the Goblin City?"
He starts laughing. "You won't find Virgil there."
"Why not?" This guy is starting to get on my nerves.
"He disappeared. He came here, and then the next day, we all woke up to discover that he was gone. No one knows where he went."
"So You can't help me?"
"No, but King Jareth might be able to."
"How so?"
"He has many crystal balls. Look into one and you can see anything you want to see. You just have to wish for it. So if you ask King Jareth to give you one of his crystal balls, maybe he will lend you one and you can use it to help you find Virgil. But you'd have to reach the Goblin City first."
"Oh okay. Uhh...thanks, I guess."
"Well, don't thank me too much. I don't know if King Jareth will let you have one."
"If he's a good King, I'm sure he will."
"I wouldn't count on it."
"Well, thanks for all the help..."
"Hoggle."
"Well, thanks for all the help, Higgle."
"Hoggle!"
"Sorry, Sorry, Huggle. I mean Hoggle. I'll just be going now." I turn my back to him and open the gates. Once I step inside, they slam behind me.
Okay, from what I remember from this movie, Sarah took a right, which lead her to a caterpillar worm thing, which told her to go right, but if I go left, it'll lead me straight to the Goblin City. Right? I hope that's right. I want to find Virgil as soon as I can and tell him to stop running away and then I love him so much and that he makes me better and doesn't hurt me. But I must complete the task at hand.
I take a right and keep on walking, hoping that I'll find that worm thing. Why would Virgil do this? Why is he so afraid of his problems hurting me? I've told him over and over again that I want him to open up to me and that his problems matter to me. But it seems like no matter what I do or say, it's never good enough. His deceiving mind made him lie to us all about his death and now I have to walk through this fucking labyrinth looking for him. When I see him, I don't know if I'm going to scream at him for doing this or hug him and kiss him. I'll find out hopefully.
"Are you lost, champ?"
I turn to my left to see that worm thing. "This stupid thing goes on forever and forever!"
"Things aren't always as they seem. There are doors everywhere."
I look around me. Fuck, I wish I remembered this movie better. "I see no doors."
"There's one, right across from you!"
I look across from me just to see a wall. "No there's not. There's only a wall."
"Remember what I said before. Things aren't always what they seem. Come on, press on it, and you'll see what I mean."
I press on the wall and two new passage ways come into view. I smile. I remember this part. I must turn left to go straight to the castle. Then I can find that goblin king dude, convince him to let me borrow a crystal ball, and then I can use it to find Virgil.
"Thank you!" I turn left to come out to what I wasn't expecting.
To come out to even more walls.
What the fuck! I thought this would take me to the fucking castle! "Virgil, why couldn't you have chosen something simple?!" I scream.
"Are you lost?"
I turn around to see an old man sitting in a chair with some weird ass bird hat on top of his head. "Yes, I am lost. Could you help me find my boyfriend, Virgil?"
"Yes, but only for a price." He shakes his silver cup, signifying for me to throw something in it. I take a nickel and throw it in the cup. "The best way to find the one you love is through your heart."
"God-fucking-dammit, THAT'S NOT HELPFUL!" I grab his cup out of his hand and throw at his face. I hear him and his bird yell things at me, but I run off so I'm out of earshot.
I stop when I come to see an ugly beast before me. I'm about to pull out my sword, but then I remember this is Ludo, one of Sarah's friends. I put back my sword and look up at him. "Could you help me get to the Goblin City?"
"Ludo no help," he says.
"Well, that's fucking great," I mumble. I watch as he walks off to that Huggle guy I say earlier. "Huggle, can't you help me?"
"It's Hoggle!" He shouts. "And maybe. Why do you care of this Virgil so much?"
"He's my boyfriend," I say. "Please, you must help me! I must find my love and bring him back home! He's terribly confused and thinks that his issues hurt me and that my life is better without him, but that's not true! And I need to tell him that before it's too late. So can you please help me?"
Hoggle stands there, thinking about, and then he says, "Me and Ludo will help. So will Sir Didymus and Ambrosias. Now, just follow us to the Bog of Eternal Stench, and then we will lead you to the Goblin City." We all walk off together, me hoping that I can find Virgil soon.
Virgil's POV:
I stare up at my My Chemical Romance posters, everything I love on my back. Why do the other sides hate me so much? I wish they didn't. I wish Roman loved me like how I love him...
