David
Roman's POV:
Me, Logan, and Patton wait in the living room, waiting for the new trait to appear. We all know that he's coming soon, so we've decided to greet him properly, unlike what we did with Virgil. Virgil's death has given the three of us to treat this new trait the way that we never treated Virgil. We'll make sure that we don't fuck up this time, especially me. I'll try not to fight with him or only see him as a reminder that my baby boy is gone. I'll try to love and cherish as a brother the way that Virgil would want me to. After all, I am doing all of this for him.
A bright light appears and a figure walks out of the light. He has long black hair, wears black and red plaid ripped jeans, black jeans, a black silver studded belt, a black leather jacket, and a Marilyn Manson shirt.
"You must be the new anxiety," Logan states in a matter-in-a-fact way.
The newcomer gives us a confused look. "No, I am not the new anxiety, as you claim me to be."
I raise my eyebrows. "Then who you are?"
"My name is David and I am Virgil's depression. I know that I'm a little late, but I didn't feel like leaving home. But, now that I am here, which one of you is Virgil?" He looks at each of us, waiting for an answer, and I decide to tell him.
I clear my throat. "Virgil is not here anymore." My voice cracks at the end and I feel the sobs coming up.
David gives me a look of confusion. "What do you mean he isn't here anymore?"
"He's dead." I start to cry and Logan and Patton come over to comfort me. I shoo them away and wipe away the tears, trying to look put together for this David guy.
"But for me to be alive, Virgil would have to be alive too. So he can't possibly be dead."
"But he- but he- in- in his letter..." I sniffle. "He implied that he committed suicide."
"Well, obviously he didn't, because I'm still here. So, he lied to you."
I start to feel myself shake. "But he- he couldn't have..."
"Why do you care about him so much anyways?" David asks me.
"He was my boyfriend," I whisper.
"Oh. So you're Roman. Maybe we should try looking for him. He's gotta be around here somewhere."
"Why would you want to help him?" I snarl. "All you want to do is hurt him."
"I do not hurt him intentionally. It's just my job. Like what Virgil told you guys about his anxiety."
"How do you know stuff like that?" Patton asks.
"Because I can read his thoughts. Well, I can't anymore. Sometimes a trait can block off their own traits, and he did that with me. I haven't been able to read his thoughts since two weeks ago."
"That makes sense," Logan says. "He left sometime two weeks ago."
"I know you guys hardly know me," David says, "but I can help you find him. Do you know any place where he might've gone to hide?"
I keep on thinking and thinking, wondering where he could hide from us. It would have to be a place where he can lock people out of obviously. But I don't know where that would be. And it's not the Forgotten Pit because I know what it's like for that thing to effect you. It has to be somewhere else then. A place of creativity...
"THE IMAGINATION PART OF THE MIND SCAPE!" I shout. Everyone's snaps towards me with wide eyes, looking at me like I've gone insane, but I ignore their looks and continue on. "Anyone can create anything there and you have the power to block people out. But that doesn't effect me because I am the representation of creativity. Therefore, I'm the only one who can go and look for him."
"That's a good idea," David says.
"Does his imagination effect you though?" Logan asks.
I nod. "Yes, it will, but hopefully he won't make it too complicated and just let me in."
"But this is Virgil we're talking about," Patton says. "He can be very stubborn and his an anxious person, as he is the representation of anxiety. So he may not be as nice to let you in, Roman. But I don't know, kiddo. Maybe he will."
"And if he doesn't, then fight through the obstacles he creates to stop you," Logan says. "It may not be a piece of cake- as you not so intelligent people would put it- but if you truly do love him, you would put up with anything to bring him back. Am I correct, Roman?"
I nod. "Yes, of course you're right, Logan. I would do anything to bring my little anxious bean back. All I have to do is figure out how." Everyone agrees in union.
"So are we unanimous?" Logan asks.
"Yes," me, David, and Patton say.
"I would advise you to pack a few things," Logan says to me. "You do not know what Virgil's imagination looks like. Pack some medical equipment, food, and any other supplies you think that you would need."
I nod and run upstairs to my room, my heart racing in anticipation to see my baby boy again. I grab a backpack and shove in some medical supplies. I run downstairs and pack about a month worth of food and water. I'm not sure how long I'll be there so I might as well prepare. Then I go over to Logan and say, "I'm ready to go." He nods and we head off to the imagination.
Logan, David, and Patton bade me goodbye before I enter the imagination. I step in and look up, shocked to see what I see. A huge maze spreads across the land, and in the center of it, there is a castle. I recognize this place...
Labyrinth! This is from the movie Labyrinth that Virgil so adores! Well, I must carry on with my journey, and find my love.
I take a step down to the Labyrinth's gates and hope that Virgil will come back with me after I reach him. If I even do reach him...
