Pride
Once upon a time, in a faraway land there lived a proud king.
He had a long fluffy grey beard and a pompous belly which he endeavored to keep with the help of many sweetmeats his cooks and chefs created for him. His pride arose from his 7 strong and mighty sons who could win in any contest they were challenged. From sword fighting to outwitting their opponent they always were victorious.
There was Adam the first born son who had a mind so fast any leopard would fail to compare.
Then there was Demetrius. He was very stubborn and determined, giving him good qualities of perseverance; however these qualities could quickly go astray if in the wrong hands... which they sadly were.
Hercules and Goliath were next, being twins they shared the power of great strength.
Aeron had no heart, and would scheme and plan for no one's benefit.
Aakil had an intelligent head on his shoulders; playing chess with him was never encouraging.
And the last son the king had was Labi. His name meant weak one, which everyone presumed he was. However he was the driving force to all of his brothers cruelty. He manipulated them with his tears and cries and directed them onto the pathway of evil.
Unfortunately all sons inherited an uncontrollable streak from their father as well as their own cultivated brutishness; pride. Now a prideful king is not content in laying his victories just before God, no, no he hopes to boast to all the nations far and wide so that he might be called the most powerful of all kings. Therefore the king decided to show off his wealthy land and exhibit his children and their talents across the kingdom. To do so he needed to have a large audience so he invited princes from over the sea's and queens from the lands of spices to come and marvel. He proclaimed that never before have people see the strength of his sons, so he will prove to everyone in this world for all centuries that his sons cannot be beaten. He challenged warriors and knights to come and fight his sons. He smirked when he said that if someone was victorious over his sons then he may choose one of his children as their own, to bring back to their country and to have as their servant or in their army. He laughed with a sly grin, for surely no one will defeat his sons.
People from all over started pouring into the kingdom. Taverns that were previously out of guests became full. The markets in the palace courts thrived again with the new income, and all seemed for the better.
One certain warrior, Hezekiah, from the far lands of mountains, heard of the kings proclamations and decided to try his luck. He was not keen on the idea of acquiring a royal 'slave' yet he decided that the proud king needed a set down or two. So he packed his bags and put on his armor, and jumping on his mighty horse with certainty and grace he rode to the borders.
:hope you enjoyed the starting chapter! I know its very short but its purpose is to set the picture in a fairy-tale manner!
