Chapter 10 : Feels Like Home

All I could do was stare at those beautiful eyes. The eyes that seemed to tell about a million stories. They were very mesmerising the more I stared into them. She had the most amazing spaghetti-like brown hair that seemed to bounce as she moved around. Her outfit spoke of a typical witch-type outfit with a black and purple pointed hat. The dress was of black with purple glowing moons and stars as she had the usual long black cloak of the Z on top. For shoes, she had on black and purple combat boots with one having a glowing yellow moon while the other had a star. She didn't look older, she looked rather young.

I quickly got onto my feet while I realized I was soaked in the stickiness of the noodles. Before I could run off again, Luca had caught up to me and gripped my arm tight to not escape this time. With a sigh, I looked down at my feet. All I wanted to do was escape from all these as my emotions were still not intact. And, I didn't feel like talking to anyone at the moment from everything that I went through a while ago. I couldn't even eat anything and let alone eat my favorite type of food for once. It kind of hurt me inside.

"Headmistress Rhiamon, I'm sorry about Ruby suddenly bumping into you." Luca answered politely and in a formal manner.

She looked at me with one single glance from top to bottom and gave a smile that felt a little scary and a bit calm. For a second, I just blinked and stared at her misty eyes. They seemed more like cat eyes than normal human eyes. To the sudden thought, a shiver ran down my spine. Was she a cat? Who was she? Suddenly my mind started to flood with questions.

"Follow me, both of you. We need to talk." She answered with a soft yet serious tone. Taking another good glance at me.

"Yes ma'am." Luca answered, tugging at me to start walking.

I sent an annoyed look towards Luca as I crossed my arms over my chest and rolled my eyes at him. But, as I realised Luca was still holding my arm, I felt a little safe and protected. Also, he didn't care if I smelt of noodles or even how sticky I was. He seemed a little more concerned about me than I was about myself. Suddenly, my cheeks started to get hot. Why was I feeling like this again? Even to the way he was concentrating on what was in front, to which I wasn't again paying attention to the front, I was almost going to bump into Headmistress Rhiamon when Luca suddenly gripped tighter to my arm and held me in place that I slightly crashed into Luca's chest.

"You really are a bit clumsy, Ruby." Luca looked down at me with a sigh and clicked his tongue.

To the way he looked down at me, I suddenly got speechless as I felt my cheeks burn again. I freed from his grip that I stumbled backwards and slightly bumped on Headmistress Rhiamon. Luca sighed and facepalmed, rubbing a hand on his forehead. I quickly straightened up on the spot and got a little closer to Luca. Well, I didn't want to get into any more trouble. I knew I was already in big trouble at the moment, but doubling that would be even worse.

Without a word, Headmistress Rhiamon opened a small black wooden door in the hallway. The door was so small that you had to crouch a little to get in. Luca had to bend so much from the waist to get in, while I had to only bend my head to not hit my head on the wall. The moment we entered, I was met with a million cats all over the place. Each cat was different and I knew all the different types of cats were around us. So, Headmistress Rhiamon was a cat person. Which proves her eyes look like a cat's. The room also smelt of mint and peppermint that it felt kind of fresh. It didn't even smell of cats.

"Ruby, come with me." Headmistress Rhiamon called out to me, opening up a door that led to another room. "Luca, you wait here." She addressed Luca with a smile.

He just nods and sits down on the couch. But as he did, he looked at me for a split second in concern. For a second, I sent him a genuine smile to tell him I will be fine. Surprisingly, he smiles back genuinely and with a soft feeling to it. It made his whole face be angelic again. I quickly looked away as my cheeks started to heat up again.

I quickly walked towards her. Just as I took a peek at the room, it was all in pink. It was like it was arranged for a girl. This made me wonder if she had a child. Ms Rhiamon just walked in as I followed her into the room. All I did was look around the room. It felt a little empty. There weren't any books on the white wooden work table. Not even a pencil holder was in sight. But, there were small pots of daisies in the windowpane, where a lovely calm breeze whirled into the room, making the beautiful white curtains dance to the breeze. It was like some invisible spirit walked into the room making the room a bit magical and calm. The room filled with happiness.

Ms Rhiamon opened up the pink wooden wardrobe to reveal different types of outfits in different colours. It wasn't like mine. This wardrobe contained outfits in rainbow colours. She went through some dresses and stopped at a light blue pastel hoodie with a cute picture of a rainbow on a cloud in the middle and white three quarter pants with designs of glowing stars and moons. She took them out and placed them neatly on the princess-like pink bed. As she walked to another wardrobe that stood next to the pink one, she opened it to reveal a whole wardrobe of different types of shoes. She quickly grabbed the white combat boots and placed them next to the bed where the clothes were placed.

"Ruby, that door right there," she pointed to the white door that was next to the dressing table. "That leads to the bathroom. Get yourself cleaned up and change into these clothes I picked for you. I will be waiting for you outside in the living room with Luca." She addressed me with a soft voice and with a genuine smile that seemed to be filled with warmth.

All I could do was nod and send a genuine smile back. I automatically bowed in gratitude as I was used to Aoi's Japanese culture and customs. It felt as if Mrs Tenshin was here with me giving me that warmth of a mother. She too was someone who'd never say a word and would talk to me calmly, explaining to me what I did wrong. She was never the type to raise her voice or even use hands to hit me. Mrs Tenshin always treated me like I was hers and these actions of Ms Rhiamon, made me feel as if Mrs Tenshin was here with me. It made me feel like home.

"Thank you, Ms Rhiamon. Also, I'm sorry for everything." I answered with my voice cracking as I felt the pain in my throat. I held down my tears that seemed to have been trying to break free at this moment.

With that sweet smile, she walked up to me and handed me a white towel. "First, get yourself cleaned up ok? Then, we talk this out. Always a fresh hot bath does the trick." She patted my arm and shoulder in comfort as she walked out of the room, slowly closing the room door.

I clutched the white towel tight, to hold back the tears that were about to pour out. I promised myself I wouldn't cry and would always be strong. With one huge sniff and a sigh, I walked towards the bathroom. Just as I opened it up, I was met with everything white and pink. I smiled crossed over my face as my nose was hit with the scent of mint and peppermint. The scent was so soothing that I just got into the hot bathtub and let the horrible stuff that just happened to me wash away. I just let my eyes close and let the calmness, scent of mint and peppermint take over me.

After a few minutes, I finished off with the bath and put on the comfy clothes that were laid out neatly on the bed. For some reason, I felt refreshed and only a warm happy feeling seemed to have consumed me. Sitting down on the bed, I put on the white combat boots that seemed to have surprisingly fit my feet perfectly. It was then that all the questions I had before rushed through my mind. Did Ms Rhiamon have a child? How come she had this room? This room was definitely for a girl who's about the same age as me or a girl that was the same size as me.

As I finished up, I slowly got up from the bed and walked up to the dressing table. I neatly combed my shoulder length hair, leaving the bangs in front. Adjusting my black rounded glasses, I walked towards the door and opened it to find Luca and Ms Rhiamon talking. The sound of me walking out made both of them turn towards me and stare. I felt a little embarrassed as this was the moment I felt normal like I was in the human world. Luca just stared at me with a surprised expression which suddenly made him smile. Ms Rhiamon had a smile that was similar to how Mrs Tenshin would smile.

"How do you feel now Ruby?" Ms Rhiamon asked with that same smile plastered on her face.

"Much better, thank you." I bowed in respect as I slowly rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment, with a smile.

"Good, now take a seat." She kindly pointed towards where Luca was.

As I turned towards Luca again, it only made me feel much worse. I was starting to get a lot more embarrassed as I didn't feel comfortable wearing these normal outfits in front of Luca. The more I slowly got closer to Luca, the more embarrassed I got as I suddenly started to hear my own heartbeat. It started beating so loud that I had to clutch my hands to stop my beating heart. Just as I sat down on the other end of the couch that Luca was seated on, I felt as if I was suffocating. Well, this was really suffocating. Most of all, I couldn't turn my head and look at Luca. I didn't even want to look at him from the corner of my eyes as I only stared at Ms Rhiamon, who suddenly placed a hand over her mouth and gave out a laugh.

"Now Ruby, you should know we do not tolerate having fights. It's like how it's in the human world. We don't get into fights." Ms Rhiamon spoke softly and in a calm manner as she explained.

"Yes I know Ms Rhiamon, but Lana started it. And, before you say it doesn't matter who started it, I need to say that I know Lana from the human world." I answered, staring right at Ms Rhiamon.

She smiled and for the first time, from the corner of my eyes, Luca smiled for my answer. He seemed proud. He looked like Aoi whenever I spoke smartly.

"Good, so you know that it doesn't matter who started the fight. So, you knew Lana?" She asked in a soft voice, looking down at a book that was opened in front of her.

"Yes, I knew her from elementary school. She was a transfer student from France. Students used to laugh at her for her accent. When she used to get bullied I used to help her but she didn't know it was me because I used to hide as I was scared." I answered her looking down at my shoes as I started to play with my feet.

"I understand now. You have actually gone through quite a phase in your life. Here, you get an opportunity to fix it. Don't you think Ruby?" She asked me as she suddenly closed the book with a kind smile after jotting down something.

I looked up at her with a smile. It was like she understood me completely. More of like, she read my mind and went through everything in my mind.

"Yes Ms Rhiamon, you're right." I answered with a smile.

"You are a good child, Ruby. From now on, you will have spiritual classes with me. I usually don't take students to teach. A lot of students wanted to learn from me, but no one could. You are a mysterious, unique girl that makes me want to be your teacher. Not even Luca here got the chance to be taught by me." She laughed as she looked at Luca.

Luca was so shocked. "What?! Ms Rhiamon, you really want to teach Ruby?" He sounded a little jealous as he stood up from the couch.

"Yes Luca, Ruby surprises me and interests me. And, I can sense her strong powers she holds just like the Oracle said in the assembly." She answered walking towards me in a full observation mode.

I blinked and stared at her as she got closer to me. I felt a bit nervous and a little scared when she suddenly looked straight into my eyes.

"Ruby, I watched you closely. Did you feel anything during the assembly? You were acting weird like you had been experiencing something no one else was." She asked me to get close to my face and stare directly at my eyes intensely.

I gulped down a huge lump of saliva and blurted out. "I kept hearing a woman's voice and sometimes it felt as if there were many women, not just one. It also happened the time I was in that room that Luca brought me and Aoi into. When I was dressing up, I heard music and women singing."

She suddenly gives me a smile and moves away with her arms crossed over her chest.

"Just as I thought. You seem to have dark magic in you as well. Not just a spiritualist's powers." Ms Rhiamon answered, grabbing a black notebook from her table.

"Wait, as in dark magic that only belongs to Darketholon? This magic is forbidden here." Luca suddenly answered with full attention and seriousness.

"Yes Luca, this is why I want to be Ruby's teacher. I have dealt with someone like her before so I know how to train her and teach her the necessary things. Of course, I would need your help too as you are her spirit guide." Ms Rhiamon answered in full concentration as she walked towards a shelf of books. She started to pick books one by one.

"Also, shouldn't we keep this a secret?" Luca asked, suddenly moving around the room, pacing back and forth.

"Yes! Obviously we three have to keep it a secret. Don't let anyone else find out or Ruby will have to go through some serious consequences. She could even be banished from here." Ms Rhiamon answered as she suddenly stopped at a huge book. She grabbed it and added it to the huge pile she had in her hands. "Okay! These will do for now."

Holding the pile of books, she walked up to me and placed them on my lap. "You will have to read all these." She smirked and dusted her hands, placing them on her hip.

"Wh-What?! All these..." I counted as I looked down at the books on my lap. "12 books?! Plus, they are huge!" I completed my sentence as I spoke in shock.

Luca scoffed out a laugh and smirked. I turned towards him and sent a death stare. Ms Rhiamon patted my head with a smile.

"I'm sorry Ruby, you need to read all these to keep your dark magic intact." She gave a confident smile to me as she turns to Luca. "And Luca, you will be in charge of her physical strength. So you will be teaching her your special combat skills. Make sure she is in your Combat classes." She gave a serious look at Luca and smiled.

Luca suddenly looked at me so intensely that I was a little surprised. The way he looked at me, made me colour again and I quickly looked away from him. What is wrong with me all of a sudden? If I am going to train with Luca, I am gonna be in trouble. It's gonna be hard to keep these feelings as well intact.

"Okay, I will train her. She showed me a bit of her skills today to which she doesn't even have the basic skills." Luca smirked as he laughed.

I knew what he did there. "I am not that bad! I did Aikido during elementary school with Aoi you know!" I exclaimed in anger and annoyance as I placed the books on the table next to me and stood up throwing my fist at Luca, who dodged it.

As I was about to pancake against the wall, Luca quickly grabbed my hood and pulled me back so that it felt as if I just punched an invisible wall.

"You're too slow Ruby, you need to be three times faster than that to even lay a single fist on me." Luca answered with a smug look on his face as I looked up at him.

"Are you trying to kill me?!" I answered in frustration and anger, as I rubbed my neck to how tightly pulled on the hood.

He slowly lets go of the hood and gives me an apologetic look that suddenly took me off guard. My cheeks suddenly started to colour. I quickly looked up at the wall clock that was behind Ms Rhiamon's table. It was pretty late and I knew it was time to head back to our rooms.

"It's late! I want to sleep!" I pointed at the clock in frustration as I wanted to escape from looking at Luca for too long.

Ms Rhiamon looked at the clock and nodded. She smiled and took something from the table that was closed up with a white cloth. She quickly walked up to me and placed the thing closed with cloth on top of my hand. In my hands, it felt as if it was a plate. She smiled at me as she gently patted my head. This reminded me of Mrs Tenshin again. Her actions were similar to hers. Luca walked up to the table that had my books and picked them up.

"Now go and get some good sleep. Also, I know you didn't eat anything so, have these before going to bed. You have to fill your stomach." She kindly smiled at me and held me by the shoulders as she turned me around towards the door.

Before I could say anything, Luca got next to me and placed a hand on my shoulder when we suddenly teleported to my room. Without a word, he placed the books on top of my wooden work table. For a second, he had his back to me and he seemed to be doing something on my table. Getting a little curious, I started to walk up to him.

"What are you doing?" I asked, walking towards him.

Before I could reach him, he walked faster to his room door and walked in. What was all that about? Feeling a little confused, I shrugged my shoulders and looked at my desk. My cheeks coloured so badly when I found two bottles that were named, MINT and PEPPERMINT in black bold letters. I placed the plate on the table and inspected the bottles. I picked them up and sniffed on them. They were perfumes. I suddenly blushed that Luca had just given me perfumes. Somehow, I smiled brightly as I neatly placed them on my table. I took the cloth off the plate to reveal mooncakes and dumplings. Today turned out to be a great day and made me feel like home.

I'm back with another chapter! Yes, it took me a while as this is gonna be the longest chapter that I wrote out of the rest as of now. It has 3439 words. Close to 4000 words 😂 I know!
