It's been four months after the failed attack on Vale and the vytal festival is coming up and there's a tournament but i declined to enter even though i can easily qualify but i still said no because i'm too busy trying to stop cinder and her plans and find evidence to put her away. I've searched weeks for clues and i find myself starting to get frustrated. It got to a point that yang team RWBY busted into my dorm room after me not talking to them for weeks and only seeing me at classes. They busted in to see a messy room full of blueprints for weapons and upgrades and me sitting at my desk surrounded by computers listening to news broadcasts and looking for evidence and me looking tired but still full of energy. They told me i was losing it but i assured them i wasn't and i was sorry for not talking to them but they told me i needed to let go and relax and they thought the best way was for me to enter into the Vytal festival tournament. I argued saying that i didn't have a team to fight with but they already beat me. They got Ozpin to allow me to fight on team RWBY so that brings us to know.

"Ahhh! nice shot", i say standing up from a blow to the stomach. Me and yang are facing a girl who's wearing a type of monk outfit but only one side of the robe has a long sleev and is using a wire to fight with her close quarters combat. I go for a kick but she dodges to the side and counter with her own kick but i turn around and block with my arm and kick her away from me toward yang for a double hit but it goes wrong. She moves herself in mid air that she's able to kick yang and successfully kicks yang into the ice section of the arena. She gets up but is sliding because she can't find traction and then is hit in the stomach by the girl. She lands on the ground and slides next to another teammate who's about to shoot her but then there's a sniper round fired and he's frozen in place.  I go over to yang to help and the lady sees me coming and throws her wire and i put up my arm and it wraps around it. She pulls but i don't move like she wanted me too. i'm also on the ice but my boots can gain traction and she gets a shocked look on her face and that's when i strike. I pull on the wire and pull her towards me and when she reaches me i kick her in the stomach to the ground and pull her up but she kicks me in the stomach and launches off me. I stumble back and smirk and she gets a confused look on her face and i hold up a trigger and press the button. She hears a beeping and looks at her leg to sees a small device that explodes and freezes her in place. I see yang get up with a little of trouble and she looks mad. I wave over to her and point to her frozen opponent and she gets a big grin on her face and runs over using her gauntlets to propel herself across the ice. The girl frozen looks behind her to only see yang's fist making contact with her face launching her out of the arena. I look over to see the skater girl being launched out of the stadium and that left another guy in monk cloths and another using a gun. I hate guns, i run straight at him as he's shooting at ruby who's taking cover behind some rock on the fire part of arena. He sees me and shifts his focus on me and i zig zag dodging bullets but one catches me in the shoulder but my armor takes the shot for me and i pull out my batclaw and shoot it at his gun. He dodges to the side and it misses but while he's distracted it throw a smoke pellet and he's instantly engulfed by smoke. I decide to use the small trick of my semblance sonar to see what he's doing. He's looking around frantically looking around for me. I enter the smoke and come from behind him and put him in a choke hold and keep there for a minute before he became unconscious and i set him down on the ground nicely. That left only one and by the time i thought of it he was already out by aura level. Should have guessed that one guy against four people would have lost by the time i was done with his friend. I walk out of the smoke to see team RWBY waiting for me. Everyone was curious to what i did since they couldn't see me but once the smoke subsided to see the final enemy teammate knocked out on the ground. I could hear the crowd in awe and it was like that before the match too because people didn't know the great batman or knight of vale was attending beacon. We head to the exit of the arena and instantly as we leave the arena a bunch of fans of the batman come out of nowhere but some of the soldiers nearby get in there way to stop them. I walk the other way along with team RWBY while hearing the screams and chaos going on. 

"Looks like you have fans", says yang with a smile

"I don't care about my fans. I never even wanted them. I like working in the dark and shadows and people not knowing about me because me being a myth or legend helped put fear in my enemies hearts and now that's pretty much gone. There still afraid of me but not as much since now that they know i'm real they're all trying to become the big guy who took down the bat like in my universe", i reply to yang's comment. We make it outside where a giant bunch of fans come at us. I grab a smoke pellet out of my belt.

"I'll meet you guys down there and sorry", i say as i throw a smoke pellet before the crowd reaches us. I vanish as the smoke engulfs us and i can hear team RWBY all smoking and i feel really bad. I run out of the smoke and jump over the edge into a dive bomb and as i reach halfway to the ground i activate my cape and glide towards the locker room to drop off my gear. I land on the rooftop of the building and make my way in by using a window. I walk over to my locker and open it. I take off my cowl and look at it thinking about all the good and bad it's caused and wonder to myself if me being sent here was punishment or i was meant to be here for a reason. I put the cowl away at the top on the shelf and begin to take off my boots and gauntlets and that's when i feel a presence. As i'm taking off my belt i grab a batarang and quickly throw it to the side and it barely misses a green haired girl as she barely dodges it and it lands straight into a wall.

"What do you want emerald?", i ask irritated with my hand still stretched out from throwing the batarang

"Just wanted to congratulate you on your win", she says with a smirk

"If you want to start something i'll warn you it won't be pretty", i say in a threatening voice

"Oh please i'm not here to fight. I'm here to see something", she says as her eyes shine and the room goes dark. I turn around in circles with a batarang in my hand ready for anything that might happen and i stop when i hear the sniffles of a young boy. I turn around and see a small boy between two figures bleeding out because of a gunshot wound. I put down my arm and drop the batarang and drop to my knees looking down at the ground holding in the anger and then i hear a voice.

"So what do you see? your greatest fear or your greatest disappointment?", says a echoing voice. I sit there and decide to look up at the boy sitting by his dead parents and then the scene changes to the boy sitting at a police station with a blank look waiting for someone. I stand up and walk over to sit right next to the child remembering this night, the night it all changed and the means of a beginning.

"Did you ever move on?". I turn my head to see the boy looking at me and i'm stunned.

"Did you ever move on?", asks the boy again. I think about this question and all the pain and misery this night gave me and i think of my answer.

"No, i've never moved on. I'm still that little boy sitting here waiting for alfred to get here and take me home where i'll finally let the anger and sadness take me and make the vow that made me the man i am today", i answer. The boy stares at me with those sad eyes i've had when times have not been kind to me but then he says something.

"So what does this moment mean to you?", he asks almost with tears. I think about it and i come to a realization.

"This moment made me who i am but at the same time....it gave me the strength to do what needed to be done and the strength and willpower to keep pushing on", i answer as i stand up and see the boy smile. The scene vanishes and i'm back in the locker room with emerald standing there shocked.

"You have crossed a line. A line that you will pay for the day that we face. Tell cinder that she can throw whatever she wants at me and i will be read to face them no matter who or what they are. For i am whatever i need to be for vale. I'm a silent guardian, a watchful protector... I am the dark knight", i say as i throw the batarang i picked up near her head hitting right next to the one that missed. She looks at me and i give her a stern look and she backs off and runs away. I feel dizzy all of a sudden and fall on one knee and fall to the side and i land on the side of some chairs trying not to pass out and then i see colorful figures of white, red,black, and yellow. I slide to a sitting position and they run over and say something but i can't hear them and that's when it happens. My eyes shut as whatever is happening, takes me over.
