Betrothed
In the bleakness of dusk I travel and traverse
With an expression that resembles a curse
Under the guise of shadow the depraved are coerced
While I write in blood my proposed verse.
In gothic splendor the nobles all mingle
Reveling in wine, dance, and song
Before my eyes, a radiant star twinkled
Beckoning my heart to benevolently succumb.
I spoke to this star, so glistening and fair
With a face so sculptured with bountiful perfection
Free and loose was her long vermillion hair
As her turquoise eyes sparkled for my affection.
She beckoned me to come with her in the frivolous night
Fearless of the terrors that pruriently lurk
We entered the pitch darkness, free from sight
And the star turned to meet my gaze with an unchasted smirk.
She embraced me with arms of frost and stone
Her fangs sunk deep into my pompous throat
An icy pain struck me as I recoil and moan
"What an artist shall I die," from Nero I quote.
Surrounded by candles I silently woke
In a bed tattered with petals of roses
The red-haired nightspawn stood before me in her cloak
Such affection and fear from me she imposes.
"Upon the brink of death thou lie before me,
But for the love I bear hath granted thee a chance
Dance with me 'neath the moonlight for eternity
For in the Reaper's cold hands thou shalt mournfully dance."
Blinded by love I accepted her offer
She mounted me with her mouth drenched in blood
"I pray that thou won't be such a bother."
Tasting her lips as we hovered like a dove.
I lay like a course 'neath the Night Walker's force
Slowly meeting my fated demise
A dweller of night so terribly perforce
Prepared to witness my final sunrise.
My body was dying, a body once so ill-begotten
The lack star carried me to our lair of slumber
She opened a grand and luxurious coffin
And we slept in our arms as dusk was torn asunder.
Through blood and seduction we roam and glide
By the holy and superstitious we were fiercely loathed
My star shone in this newly-formed night
A scarlet-haired lover I now call my betrothed.
Embedded in blood art my words
That chirps like the morning birds
Replaced by ravens so carrion and perse
As I damn my betrothed for this virulent curse.
