Asunder

We mortals of color are far asunder,

Calling, shouting at one another with such meaningless thunder,

As I hear this pointless dispute, I create my lair, digging six feet under.

We humans of color are so long asunder,

With Jim Crow's venomous bellows, screeching like a crack of thunder,

How distraught I was, that the darker skin be thrown under,

While the lighter skin are worshiped like goddesses full of wonder,

Such graceful melanin, in which I possess, I begin to wonder,

Why they prolong this pitiful Civil War against their own.

We mortals of color are so far apart,

Segregated and stripping one another of our loving hearts,

Self-eradication, resulting in a massive loss,

Killing each other and tearing ourselves apart,

Leading to another painful lost,

The results are nothing but a dreadful cost.

We humans of color are long asunder,

Lost in our own ignorance, always stuck in this worthless ghetto,

Believing in a fairytale white man to blame for our own dire sorrow,

To satisfy a pointless hunger,

Always playing victim, always making excuses,

Like children bickering before supper, without taking responsibility,

Oppressing ourselves, holding each other back as our self-made chaos expands far yonder,

As our wise ancestors turn in their graves, six feet under.
