Chapter 35: To Love
The full moon was at its highest now. The moonlight rained over the land and it's gleam beamed into the king's room as well. Leaving the darkness running far with the amount of luminance from the moon. The couple laid together over the bed in silence as they listened to the beat of their hearts communicating throughout the noise of stillness.
Jimin's face always seemed to be buried in the king's neck, inhaling his strong fragrance and soothing any leftover sores Jimin felt after the intercourse as if the king himself was his own medicine.
"Jimin, will you stay with me for the night?" Jungkook asked and pointed Jimin's chin to face him in the dimly lit room. "Can I wake up to your beautiful gaze, watching it look around innocently like a child in the early morning?" Jungkook asked and watched Jimin's plump lips curve into a big smile before he let out a cute giggle just erupting from his mouth.
"It will be difficult to escape in the morning with your constant selections taking place. That dream of yours, wishing to wake up and see me by your side will have to wait," Jimin whispered and sat up. But just then, the king pulled his omega back onto his chest to keep him there longer. "Jungkook-!"
"Don't go... please, I want you to stay longer," Jungkook whispered and cupped Jimin's face; having Jimin's soft and pink tinted cheeks underneath his palms. "This is torture for me... it hurts me more knowing that you aren't around to make me smile. I despise seeing all of these omegas trying to take your spot in my heart when none of them can compare! Jimin, please stay longer..."
"You know I can't. It gets difficult to sneak in and even far more difficult to leave. It's like a puzzle with so much, I can't afford to make one mistake," Jimin whispered and looked into his alpha's beautifully rounded eyes. His eyes carried diamonds, precious jewels and ancient treasures all in one blink; treasures that carried true beauty that Jimin felt so entranced in.
"I guess I have to learn how to be patient with you, will I ever see you tomorrow morning? I don't want to wait just to see you a few more days after, I want to see you every morning but-"
"The selection, I know..." Jimin whispered and let out a chuckle. "I know you can pull through with this. Think of it as learning to be patient," Jimin assured but the king only looked out the window to where the moonlight beamed.
"That's the only thing I don't have... patience. I rush so much, even the relationship I had when I was a prince. I trusted someone with all my heart, and gave him my world when he never thought of me on his own. After, I grew so desperate, so lonely, so impatient..." Jungkook continued until he felt Jimin's hand run along his cheek softly. It was a soothing call to him, caressing him and showing him only gentle colors of the world through Jimin's gaze.
"You'll learn patience brings happiness. But you can't rush it, you have to learn it on your own. That's the only way you'll understand it clearly. If you rush, you'll only learn to hear the word, but if you take the time to understand it, you'll learn so much more than just the word," Jimin assured and smiled at the king. "Such a young and naive king, yearning for guidance from a swan..."
"My one and only," Jungkook added on. He listened to Jimin's words and tried to take patience in studying it and understanding it, but every broken part of him turned away from it. Refusing to take it in for more than a second. On the other hand, he looked down to his omega and knew he had to adapt to patience. Jimin alone taught him to see the world differently and there was no way Jungkook planned on pulling away from such a lovely feeling it truly was. "How did you learn to be patient?"
"Patience... I learned from it through my omega training. When I was first matched with an alpha through the matchmaker, I lived with my future in-laws when I was just fourteen, until the day of my planned marriage. They taught me to be patient with my alpha... they showed me how to stitch beautiful flowers into fabrics and if I rushed, I would be punished for a poorly stitched blanket. It was the same for when it was time to eat, I couldn't eat until I was allowed by my matched alpha. He was cruel... It was like I was a servant, taught to be patient when speaking, eating, stitching, and talking when I'm spoken to by my alpha," Jimin confessed and let out a giggle. "I hated the feeling! Treated like I was at the bottom while the alphas were right at the top. Even if it was true, I learned so early that I wasn't going to be taken so lightly. That's when my happiness came in."
"You were matched so early..." Jungkook spoke and looked at the omega. "Living with your in-laws before your heat, is that common?"
"It's the way we're trained. Some omegas are matched with an alpha and then engaged. We live with our in-laws and we are trained there until the day of our marriage. But, I never had my heat so early... I secretly avoided it but everyone believed I was infertile. My late heat along with my independent behavior made it difficult to be matched over and over again when an alpha's family rejected me. Then, I was left to be trained and matched completely by my parents. The local matchmaker was tired of matching me off to other alpha's who knew how difficult I was. I also learned to be patient with myself through that. All those things taught me how difficult patience could be. But, it was worth it. If I was impatient, I would have pushed myself into heat and I would have married long ago so I could be accepted for once, but I learned what I wanted, what I needed and trusted in myself. No one else."
"Through the rough training so early in your life, taught you to be patient. Your patience taught you so much and sparked your wishes for independence. If you became desperate to be accepted, you wouldn't have learned it at all," Jungkook thought and ran his hand up Jimin's arm softly to caress him. "You wouldn't find a new piece of yourself."
"Patience is a learning experience for yourself... if you don't learn patience, you can't find a new part to yourself. Think of it like this, if you rush the stitching, the blanket wouldn't look so good, you need to be patient with what you make," Jimin added on. Letting out a giggle and covering his face. "I guess you know where I get my knack independence from!"
"Either way, I adore that from you. A swan so feisty and elegant, independent and so confident. I don't want to change anything about you, Park Jimin. You're one of a kind," Jungkook said, watching the omega blush and bury his face into his alpha's chest.
"Jungkook...." Jimin called out once more and ran his finger along his alpha's chest so innocently. "If you have time tomorrow... any time in the morning, I'd like to see you again," Jimin requested and spoke softly to soothe his throat.
"Tomorrow morning..." Jungkook thought and smiled at the nostalgic feeling he would have seeing Jimin at the river every morning. "I would love to see you at the river again, I'll make sure I'm able to see you there, okay?"
"Thank you for making time for me, after this morning, you won't have to continuously try to find time for me. We should learn to be far for a bit so my mark wouldn't become so stubborn."
"Maybe that's how your mark is, stubborn. I don't think it's made to be apart from me, we're closely bonded, it won't let you stay away from me," Jungkook mentioned and touched the mating mark carefully. "All marks are unique, including this one."
Jimin acknowledged the mating mark and how stubborn it could be when the two were apart. But Jimin just longed to have a moment where his wound didn't sting him from being far from his alpha. Other omegas could take a long break from their alpha, but Jimin's mark made him clingy so he wouldn't have to deal with the pain over his neck. No matter how long Jimin tried to stay away, those three days were torture for the omega until he brought himself to the palace to see his alpha for once.
At the rise of the sun that dawn, Taehyung sat with Namjoon at the alpha's house. The two conversed over tea served in the small porcelain bowls placed on the low wooden table just outside. As they drank tea, Namjoon was crushing leaves and flowers into a small wooden carved bowl while Taehyung gazed out at the lovely skies above. The two sat together on the wooden ground and remained underneath the shade of the big house. Spending time together on such a lovely morning.
"It's not summer just yet... spring is still around and the flowers have yet to blossom. But, I wanted to tint my nails for quite some time now! I'm glad I asked Hoseok to find me these before he went hunting again. He told me he found them at a mountain very far from the town!" Taehyung spoke happily and held up a wad of thread he kept right by the small bowl of tea.
"Mountains are far from where he hunts, you must feel lucky knowing that Jimin's fiancé went so far for your lousy nail tint," teased Namjoon as Taehyung let out a laugh right after. "You should be crushing these! If you want to tint your nails, you should put in the effort!"
"Ew, you're an alpha, you're stronger so you have a reason to crush the leaves and flowers for me," Taehyung replied lazily and looked at the alpha. "Hoseok did go far for those. Maybe I should invite him for tea later at my place."
"Don't do that, your father will be home and believe you brought an alpha to marry. You can't marry him since he's going to be Jimin's alpha."
"I know that..." Taehyung whispered and looked off at a lonely flower that still had yet to bloom on Namjoon's yard. "It just feels like Jimin... doesn't pay attention to him like I do, it's sad. So, I hope maybe one day, Jimin will find someone else... and maybe I can be engaged to him. He deserves someone who will appreciate him and give him joy," Taehyung assured, knowing well that Jimin had no intentions of being with Jung Hoseok. So, it allowed the other omega to get close to the alpha. Yet, Namjoon didn't know this at all.
"Stop it, he isn't for you. Taehyung, one alpha will find you, don't chase after what's not yours if it isn't meant for you. You'll be let down," Namjoon warned the entranced boy, but Taehyung didn't listen one bit. He longed to make everyone around him happy and was more than willing to be there for Hoseok when Jimin was to ever leave him for the king for sure. Yet, Namjoon just knew that this didn't sound too good to his ears.
Just when Namjoon began to dip Taehyung's fingers one by one in the small bowl to tint the nails first, Hoseok walked down the path through Namjoon's house and the omega was quick to spot him. The alpha carried his bow and arrows, recently he's been seen carrying the weapon around everyday so it was no surprise to the world. But to Taehyung, he knew Hoseok was stressed and used it to cope.
"Hoseok!" Taehyung called out and waved a free hand to signal him to come closer. "I'm tinting my nails, do you want to see?!"
"Maybe later! I'm going hunting again," Hoseok replied instantly with the usual bland look in his eyes. He carried secrets, secrets of his true intentions with hunting. He plotted to kill the commoner and practiced through hunting, but little did anyone else know, he was dying on the inside due to his anger that was already bound to erupt this morning. He waited too long and finally decided that today was the day he would shoot his arrow through the living alpha he grew jealous of.
"You don't have to go right now, come on, Namjoon has tea!" Taehyung continued to find a way to ease the alpha's stress, distracting him from hunting, but it was no use. He had no idea what went on in Hoseok's mind and it bothered him.
"No thank you, I'm very busy today!" Hoseok replied and with that, he turned away with a deep glare that haunted his face for days now.
"I feel the secondhand embarrassment all the way from over here. I told you he's in love with Jimin, nothing will change that," Namjoon said into a laugh and wrapped Taehyung's index fingernail with a leaf and tied down with a thread.
As Hoseok walked off with a determined glare, he picked up one of his arrows from his bag and looked at the steel tip, staring at his terrifying glare through the reflection that carried nothing but true fury. "It's been so long that you've allowed someone to stand in between what we had Jimin, you have no idea what you've done to me. I'll show you how it truly feels," Hoseok growled to himself as he then looked up ahead to the open field leading to the Omega River. "And now he will know how it feels to love..."
