Birth, Transformation, and Death of a Vampire

The only ways for transformed vampires to die are by getting stabbed by a silver dagger, which was dipped in holy water, loss of blood (for example being bitten by another vampire and getting sucked out), a few rare but existing diseases only vampires can catch or die of thirst.

Sunlight does not kill vampires (and their skin won't sparkle^^) but it feels uncomfortable if a vampire is not used to it. For a newly transformed vampire, however, it can be deadly if exposed for too long.

Vampires are immune to human diseases and artificial fertilization does not work, but they can be very well affected by drugs or poison. If poisoned they will be sick for quite some time (making them an easy target) but they won't die from it.

There are two ways to become a vampire:

- Either you are born as one, then you will go through the transformation naturally once you come of age which means between 19 and 25 years old (if you are a half-human) or at the age of 500 (when you are a full vampire.)

- Or you will be turned into a vampire. That means a human has to get bitten into the heart, the blood inside the heart has to be drunk from the same vampire who bit you and you too have to drink the blood of the heart of the Vampire that bit you.

A transformation into a vampire (whether you are born as one or turned into one) is a very painful process and only the strongest will survive. There is no guarantee to survive the transformation and it doesn't matter if you are a full vampire or a half-human.

Powers of a Vampire

The skin of a vampire is not cold and they do not look pale. Except for being stronger and faster than humans, and for the fangs they have to hide in front of a human (and of course the hunger for blood), they do not differentiate from humans at all. They can impregnate (male) and get pregnant (woman).

Vampires identify their kind with a look into the other's eyes. Only half-vampires are hidden due to the human part within them.

The power every vampire has is manipulating the memories of humans, if they saw something related to vampires or got to know of their existence. Only if the memory is freshly made, however, does that work without a problem. The more time passes, the more difficult it gets until they have to ask for the help of a more powerful vampire but even then it does not assure success and might go wrong.

Some powerful vampires have special skills. For example.

- controlling other people's minds,

- reading other people's minds,

- manipulating other people's minds and wills,

- able to look into someone's past life,

- able to look into the future,

- telekinesis

Seldom does a vampire exist who has more than just one of these abilities and never does someone have all of the above.

Rules/Laws set by Vampires

It's forbidden to reveal yourself in front of a human.

It's forbidden to drink human blood against their will.

It's forbidden to turn a human into a vampire if that certain human is against it

and if you didn't receive permission from the royal family

It's forbidden to manipulate a human's mind and will (and vampires, of course, but that would work only on weak vampires anyway).

It's forbidden to kill humans.

It's forbidden to kill their kind.

Hunger of a Vampire

The best way to still the hunger is by drinking blood directly from the veins.

Vampires can drink animal blood to survive (it stills their hunger only for a few days),

Vampires can drink human blood to survive (it stills their hunger for several weeks),

Vampires can drink the blood of their kind (it stills their hunger for several months).

The blood of the royal family has a special taste which means it does not taste like others.

Usually, vampires drink blood from their kind as it is the best way to still their hunger (and to protect humans). They only need to drink from one once every 6 months or they could die of hunger. If a vampire has sex, biting the other and drinking blood is inevitable due to the feeling of immense pleasure and therefore most vampires do not wait for 6 months before they drink again.

Getting bitten by a vampire sets free several hormones, making both get horny and sex will usually follow unless you have very strong willpower.

Vampires usually only drink from their lover, mistress, wife, or husband.

For single vampires, who have none of the above, there is an organization that provides them with other single male/female vampires to make sure, no one will die of thirst or someone goes berserk and attack humans. It happened that people found their other half within the organization.

If getting the permission of humans, single vampires can drink their blood as well.

How things work in the world of the Vampires

They either live in the human world among humans or in their hidden world which is located in a dark forest within Shanghai but not accessible and not seen by humans.

In the human world exist a consulate for vampires. The biggest one is stationed in the middle of Shanghai but it does have small offices distributed over the whole of China.

For humans, it's a normal bank. Behind the scenes, however, it is a blood bank for vampires (both, vampire blood and human blood by humans who volunteered to donate). It is a place vampires can go to when they need help but also for vampires and human protectors to report a crime done by vampires.

A Human Protector is a member of one of several families in China who know of the existence of vampires for thousands of years and their job is to protect their kind. They work closely together with the secret organization of the royal family to make sure humans won't find out about vampires, vampires follow the laws and peace will prevail.

But a Human Protector is not allowed to kill vampires. If a vampire committed a crime, it will be the vampires (the royal family or its secret organization) who will set the punishment.

Every country has its own King and Queen. In Shanghai, it's Luo Jin and Tang Yan.

A vampire is coming of age at the age of 500 years (if you survive the transformation). If you are from the upper class, a ball will be held to get introduced into society and hopefully find a suitable partner for life. At such a ball everyone will have a chance to find a match for a marriage or to just have some fun with another lord or lady.

Vampires can produce and conceive children once they turned 1000 years old. The difference is that a female vampire can only get pregnant once every 500 years while a male vampire has no boundaries and can impregnate women every day a year (unless it's a female vampire). Of course, here it works the same as with humans. Just because you sleep with her doesn't mean she will surely get pregnant and using protection doesn't guarantee 100% safety.

As mentioned, every 500 years a female vampire can get pregnant and during that time she will set free hormones which can be smelled by every vampire, especially by males. The closer she gets to her most fertile time, the stronger that scent becomes. If that female vampire has a partner, they will disappear into their bedroom for a few days and everything is good. The chance of conceiving during that time is higher but still not 100%. If she has no partner, her family has to either make sure she stays behind closed doors until that time is over or find her a partner.

As already mentioned artificial fertilization doesn't work. Neither a female vampire can get pregnant by it nor a female human if the sperms of a vampire are used.

While both genders don't mind having some pleasurable nights with humans, they usually don't like to mix their bloodlines with them so half-vampires are a rather rare sight. It happens but seldom.

Past of the Vampire

In the past, many many many ..... many thousands of years ago, humans and vampires lived together (humans all knew about the existence and didn't mind as long as the vampires behaved) until humans felt threatened as there haven't been any set rules and vampires would often use humans as a blood bank. Therefore the late King (the great-great-great-great.... whatsoever-father of the current King) made a deal with the humans. The vampires would move away (live in their own secluded, for humans not accessible world) and promise to never kill humans or turn them unwillingly into a vampire, and if it still happened, the guilty vampire will be punished greatly. The humans on the other hand promised they would stop hunting vampires down and pretend they have never existed.

Soon vampires were forgotten and only continued to live in books or within the imagination of humans. Of course, except for the several families who work as Human Protectors and others who happened to find out about it and their memories were not erased on time.

If one human were to find out about their existence, they have the right to delete that part of their memory for both parties to live peacefully.
