Chapter 5: Two Murders

Ready for the next chapter? Here it is :)

I hope you enjoy it <3 <3

WARNING: THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING:

-VIOLENCE
-MURDER

Xiao Zhan's POV

Two things woke me up. First, the unpleasant feeling of pain with every move made the faint memories of last night come back.

Min-Ah came out of the bathroom half-naked.

Seducing me, begging me to look at her.

Me falling for her seduction as the asshole I was and going to bed with her.

Actually, I didn't remember much after that. The last thing I remembered clearly was Min-Ah helping me wear that slippery rubber while I was quite obsessed with her neck. Anyway, I didn't know that sex would hurt so much but now that I know, I might as well never do it again.

As for the other reason I woke up was because of some noise I heard outside. I tried to go back to sleep but these weird noises were bugging me so I got up as carefully as possible to not wake up Min-Ah who was still sleeping next to me. I could barely open my eyes so I sat there for a minute. The curtains were closed and the only light source came from the bedroom door which was ajar.

What I noticed right away was the missing of my headache. The pain in my head was fully gone which means I did not have to go to the hospital. I smiled to myself before remembering what kind of situation I was in. I slept with my girlfriend who I tried to break up with while her parents as well as her sister were out of the house. I took Min-Ah's virginity and now there was no way I could easily break up with her.

Even thinking about breaking up with her now was giving me the creeps. Damn, I was a goddamn asshole for still wanting to break up with her...

Outside of the room, I heard a laugh which made me flinch. Was her sister back?

'Running away won't help you, Xiao Zhan. Sooner or later you would have to confront everyone anyway.' I thought and chewed on my lips.

I could kill Min-Ah. Yes, I fell for her seduction and slept with her but that didn't mean it was my fault alone. Min-Ah was also at fault! How could she do that? No, actually, how could I fall for it? Who was the bigger sinner here? Probably me because all I had to do was turn around and leave. I pulled at my hair and flinched hearing another laugh.

I got carefully out of bed and tried to walk to the door but stumbled on my way. Through the light from the crack in the door, I saw a few things spread on the floor and frowned.

'Were they here yesterday too?'I tiptoed around them and carefully opened the door.

What I saw in front of it made me step back and scream in horror. I almost forgot how to breathe.

"M-m-mo... m-mom?" I called her. At first, I didn't believe it was her but then she turned around and smiled at me with one of the creepiest smiles I have ever seen. Her eyes ... it was as if she looked through me.

"My baby boy..." She laughed. "You didn't come home so I had to pick you up myself. Did you sleep well? Are you hungry?" She stood up and walked towards me but I retreated and fell backward to the ground.

"Mom! What...what is... oh god...." I stared at the red fluid on her clothes. She was drenched in it. The floor... full of blood. In her hand was a knife.

Mom followed my eyes and laughed. I paled and started shivering. "Mom... what is... this... mom what happened... you... what did ... did you?" My eyes went to the body which lay on the floor. It was Min-Ah's older sister.

Once again my mom followed my gaze and screamed. "Bitch!!"

She jumped at Min-Ah's older sister and continued to stab her which she must have done the whole time. I shook my head over and over again.

"Don't! Touch! What! Is! Mine!!" She screamed.

"MOM!!" Finally, I found my composure, got up ran up to her, and pulled down from Min-Ah's sister. She fought back and I fell down, my head hitting the floor. It hurt but that wasn't what was important.

I looked at the woman on the floor. Her chest wasn't moving. She was pale and all the blood on the floor....

"Mom, that... that wasn't you... that.. can't be...." I felt sick.

"They deserve to die! Taking what is mine!! How dare they!?! These filthy little rats!" She screamed and run back to the body only to continue to stab her.

I didn't know what to do. My mom... that wasn't my mom... my mom would never...

'A dream, this a nightmare. Yes, wake up. I need to wake up.' I hit myself and pinched myself but I didn't wake up. I faintly heard the sounds of sirens.

"Both of you need to die! Xiao Zhan is mine. ONLY MINE!!"

I widened my eyes. "B-both? Did you say..." I looked the Min-Ah's bedroom and jumped up. I pushed the door open, turned on the light, and saw how messy the room was. Various objects were spread on the floor but my eyes searched for Min-Ah who lay in the bed, right next to the spot I slept not long ago. I saw two knives stuck into her body, one in her chest, and one in her neck.

"Oh... my ... god...." I threw up right on the carpet and shortly after everything went black.

3rd POV

"What do we have, Peng?"

"Good morning, Detective Zhong." His partner greeted him and got up. "Two female bodies, 19 and 24 years old, sister, living here with their parents who are abroad right now. We called them and they are on their way back."

Zhong looked at the blood on the floor. "What the hell happened here?"

"Lee Jung-Ah, the older sister, was stabbed to death. She got 32 stabs with the second stab into her heart killing her."

"32!!" Zhong shouted out in shock and paled. "What the hell!? What kind of animal did this!?!"

"Zhao Liying, 38 years old and the mother of Xiao Zhan, the boyfriend of the second victim, Lee-Min-Ah. She was arrested on the spot and taken in for an investigation. Not that there is much to investigate..."

"Why?" Zhong asked.

"When the police arrived, she was still stabbing Lee Jung-Ah and it needed three police officers to take her away. Her son, Xiao Zhan has been taken to the hospital." Peng answered.

"Was she on drugs? Don't tell me she even attacked her son. How bad is he?"

"He has suffered a shock and collapsed. He also had a wound on his head. Zhao Liying's blood is still being tested but so far it doesn't look like drugs. Rather, she just lost her mind."

"What about the second victim, Lee Min-Ah?" Zhong asked and followed Peng into the bedroom.

"She was the first one to die. She had 19 stabs but the forensic is not sure which one was the final blow."

Zhong looked around the room, looking at everything closely. "Did Zhao Liying say why she did that?"

"She claims that both tried to take Xiao Zhan away and in her opinion they had to die because Xiao Zhan was her son and belonged to her."

"Detective?" One of the forensic scientists held something up.

"A condom? I guess her son was indeed rather busy last night. Bring it to the laboratory and test it on DNA."

"Yes, sir."

"So... Xiao Zhan and Lee Min-Ah were a couple. They had some fun last night and were caught by Xiao Zhan's mother. Claiming both have seduced her son means he slept with both women, right? But there is no reason for her to kill them just because of that."

"There are no traces of intercourse on Lee Jung-Ah."

Zhong nodded. "CCTV? Witnesses?"

"There are CCTV's right outside this place. Zhao Yaling entered this building at 11:52 pm. Lee-Jung-Ah arrived at 2:13 am. The only witness we have is her son." Peng answered and watched how the forensic took Min-Ah's body away.

"One moment!" Zhong held up his hand and approached the corpse of the girl. He took a closer look and frowned. "Okay, you can go."

"Is something the matter?" Peng asked curiously but Zhong shook his head.

"Oh? Detective Zhong, how are you? And how is your son?" The coroner asked with a smile.

"Don't even start..."

"Still a troublemaker?"

"He surely is. He is 26 years old. 26!!" Zhong complained. "But instead of thinking about starting a family, he would rather roam through the streets and have fun. Sometimes I ask myself if he is really my son while hoping that my real son, one who listens well and has his life under control, but then I look at him all my hopes are gone."

"He does look like a younger version of you. But hey, at least he is pretty handsome. Zhong, don't be too hard on him. Maybe he didn't find a woman to his liking yet. 26 is still considered young."

"Pah, he does find dozen of women to his liking but none of them so much as to even think about marriage. Is it too much to ask for if I want him to carry on the bloodline?"

"Zhong, you are not even 50 yet and already want a grandchild?" The coroner laughed.

"If he doesn't have a child, our bloodline will die. I can't let that happen, can I?"

"Talk to him then."

"I did! He knows fully fell how important it is to have a child." Zhong pulled his hair.

"Then just talk to him about it every day until he gets tired and listens to you. It worked with my daughter and what happened? She is now happily married with 3 children."

"I guess except for annoying him every day there is nothing I could do." Zhong sighed and the coroner chuckled.

"How about a change of topic? I guess you are here for the results?"

"Yes. Please tell me."

"Didn't Zhao Yaling already confess? Even Xiao Zhan gave his statement."

"We need to close this case with all we have. Come on, spill the beans, Doc."

"Very well. Lee Jung-Ah died at 2:20 am right after entering the building. The second stab to the heart killed her. She was obviously dead, why she was stabbed 30 more times... this is just brutal! Lee Min-Ah died around 1:15 am. She lost a lot of blood but the strange thing is we didn't find most of it where she was found. Actually, we didn't find it anywhere in the whole house. The blood in the hall was only her sister's."

"I see..." Zhong mumbled.

"As for the condom. It was almost shredded but I found enough DNA which belonged to Xiao Zhan and Lee Min-Ah. After examining Lee Min-Ah it was determined that she had sex pretty much right before she died. Lee Jung-Ah was not intimate with anyone."

"Right before she died?"

"It can't be determined when the kids stopped, Zhong. They are kids and it was their first time. At least it was the first time for Lee Min-Ah and after examining her intimate area I figured out both kids had a lot of stamina. Lee Min-Ah showed no defense wounds indicating she died in her sleep."

"Were there any other injuries? On her neck, maybe? Or anywhere else?"

"Are you a fortune teller?" The coroner nodded. "Yes, there were a few marks on her body. One on her inner thighs as well as a few on her shoulder. However, we didn't figure out yet what they are and where they come from. They are too big for needles and I didn't find anything that could have caused them yet."

"Hmmm..."

"As for the blood test, neither Xiao Zhan nor Zhao Yaling was on drugs. This is shocking considering how Zhao Yaling stabbed the victims which weren't on drugs either, but a test on Lee Jung-Ah's blood told us that she was slightly drunk."

"May I look at Lee Min-Ah's body?" Zhong asked and the coroner nodded.

"I am done with her. You won't find anything I didn't, though."

"Yeah, yeah. Just want to take a look."

"Suit yourself." The coroner stepped aside and scribbled something down while Zhong took a closer look at Lee Min-Ah's body, mostly on her shoulders as well as her inner thighs.

"I knew it..." He mumbled.

"Excuse me?"

"Doc, how much blood did she lose?"

The coroner frowned. "More than 4 Liter! We only found around 1,5 liter on the bed. It's still a mystery where the rest of it vanished. Did Zhao Liying say anything?"

"She doesn't speak anymore. And Lee Min-Ah surely died from loss of blood?"

"Yes, the stab into her neck killed her. By the way, will Zhao Yaling be charged or does she claim insanity?"

"She confessed to having killed both girls. She was waiting for Xiao Zhan to return home as he promised and when he didn't come she got suspicious and went to the victim's house. She found Min-Ah and her son in bed. She understood right away what happened."

"That's it? Just because of that, she killed them?"

"She said that Xiao Zhan wanted to break up with Lee Min-Ah and claims that the girl seduced her son so he wouldn't do that. Zhao Yaling lost it and killed that girl and when the older sister came home, she killed her too so Lee Jung-Ah won't seduce her son as well." Zhong explained.

"Times of death are over an hour apart. Why did she stay behind? She could have taken her son and left. It's as if she was waiting for Lee Jung-Ah."

"Maybe she was. Lee Jung-Ah was her sister's guardian until their parents would return. She left the kids alone and didn't do her job well. Kids at these ages start to get curious so it was not strange for them to have sex. Considering that the brand of condoms found in Lee Min-Ah's room was the same as in Lee Jung-Ah's ... I can assume that the older sister knew what her little sister was up to. Xiao Zhan said that Lee Jung-Ah claimed to have an appointment but the CCTV in the area showed her walking around for at least an hour before she went into the next club."

"So she killed these girls because she didn't want to share her son?" The coroner asked. "I get it, every parent wants to protect their children but that..." He shook his head.

"There is no good reason for a murder."

"Indeed. What happens to Xiao Zhan?"

"He left the hospital and went back home. I guess his aunt will take care of him. They are not related by blood but she is the only one he has."

"No father, no grandparents?"

"No father. His grandparents want to have nothing to do with him or their daughter. There must be a story behind that but I have no interest in that. Excuse me now, Doc. I need to handle something."

Zhong took a last look at the girl's body and then left with hurried steps. He got into his car and drove off. 40 Minutes later he arrived at his destination and got out of his car.

He hasn't been here in 3 years and hoped he would never come here again. But there was never a guarantee that one of those behaved. There was always a black sheep. Or two or three.

"How can I help you, Master Zhong? It surely has been a while." He was asked the moment he stepped inside. The guy who approached him looked like every other normal man but Zhong knew that wasn't the case. No one, except for a few exceptions who worked in another department of this facility, was normal.

"I need to talk to the higher-ups. I have a case that needs to be checked by your kind." Zhong answered.

"I feared your visit is not a good sign. Very well. Please follow me, Master Zhong."

Detective Zhong was not just anyone. He was known here as Master Zhong, a member of one of the several families who were chosen to protect the humans. And this facility he was in right now was the consulate for vampires. For humans a normal bank, for vampires a blood bank. It was a place vampires could go to when they needed help but also for vampires and for human protectors such as Zhong, to report a crime done by vampires.

Yes, Vampires existed. But they had their own world they lived in which was out of reach for humans unless entry was allowed. Quite a few of them lived in the human world and while doing so they have to follow certain rules. One of them might have been violated recently.

Because his latest case had something to do with vampires. Lee Min-Ah died of the loss of blood which could have resulted from the wounds from the knives. But the teeth marks which were found as well as the missing blood told a different story. It proves that before she died, a vampire was definitely in that room.

Xiao Zhan didn't see anyone but his mother and Zhao Liying said, there was no one else. But that didn't mean this was true. Vampires had their skills and if they wanted, they could manipulate a human's mind easily. It was forbidden to do that without a proper reason but not every vampire followed this and many other rules.

"Please sit down." The man pointed at one of the couches. "Someone will come soon."

World of the Vampire

"Your Majesty, I beg your pardon for dressing this topic once more, but we, the other ministers and I, think it is about time to think about the future. Your Majesty needs an heir."

"Prime Minister!" The King of Vampires, Luo Jin groaned. "I am still very young and don't intend to give up on the throne just yet. As far as I remember I ascended only a few years back, right? Is there a reason you all want me gone? Am I not good enough?"

"Of course not, Your Majesty!" The ministers all bowed.

"If not, then why are you all so obsessed with me having an heir? I really don't understand. What I also do not understand is the fact that you all must oversee my beautiful daughters. Our oldest is quite good at what she does, don't you think?"

"She is but just a woman, Your Majesty!" The prime minister said.

"Just a woman?" A female voice sounded which belonged to the Wife of Luo Jin and Queen of the Vampires, Tang Yan. "I feel quite offended."

"I didn't mean to, Your Majesty. I am sorry."

"I bet you are." The Queen sneered and received an amused and satisfied grin from the King.

"Your Majesties, I know that within the last thousands of years, a lot changed in the human world but-"

"But that does not mean we should follow in their step. Is that what you wanted to say, my dear Prime Minister?" The King asked and then chuckled. "Of course, you do. An old vampire like you and many others are pretty set on keeping the old traditions."

"Are you upset, darling?" The queen got up from her throne walked behind the King and hugged him from behind. "Don't be."

"How can I not be...."

"Calm down, darling." The Queen soothed him until he smiled. Then she sat down again.

"If we don't let the prime minister speak today, he won't give us any peace, I guess. So speak." The king said and waited for him to speak.

"Thank you, Your Majesty." The Prime Minister stepped forward. "We have traditions, we have law and we have rules. And we all know that sooner or later, Your Majesty will need an heir. I do not intend to pressure you, but the well-known fact about the Queen's gen-defect makes it clear that we can't expect her to give birth to a boy. This means sooner or later you will have to take someone in, who can do exactly that. We all know about the obvious fact how much Your Majesties love each other, and no one intends to go between you...."

The Queen wasn't mad about what she heard because it was the truth. She indeed could only give birth to daughters and when that fact came out, everyone was worried about the future. The Queen knew that sooner or later she had to share her husband for as long as an heir was born. She would be lying if she said she didn't mind sharing him. Oh, she hated it. Luo Jin was hers!

But for the sake of the future of the royal family, it was her duty to help the king. If she couldn't give birth to a son, someone else needed to. But Luo Jin was totally against it. He would rather die than hurt and cheat on his wife. He announced it often and every time the Queen wanted to just push him onto their bed and have her way with him. She thought her love for him couldn't grow more but she was mistaken.

Then there was the former King, Lou Jin's father. He loved his grandchildren to the core and whenever the Queen was ready to conceive, which was every 500 years, he would pay a visit and stay until he heard the good news. Which happened almost every 500 years. The reason why he loved granddaughters the most was because, in the past, it has been mostly boys who have been born within the royal family. For her father-in-law, the Queens gen-defect was a blessing and the reason why he ended up taking a liking to her after all.

"I thought so. Everything you just said is nothing we didn't hear the last few times. Anything else? No? Then I shall leave. I have an appointment with a few lords in an hour and need to prepare for that. Until next time, my dear ministers." With that, the King managed to sneak away.

'This sneaky little... as far as I know he has no appointment.' The Queen chuckled. 'But this is good for me. That means the both of us won't get interrupted .'

She was about to get up as well but stopped when she heard the prime minister clearing his voice.

"Yes?"

"Your Majesty, I am sure you know about the importance of an heir."

"I do, my dear prime minister. But I also know that there is still time for that."

"Why postpone something that can be done today?"

The Queen suppressed a frown. "What do you wish to tell me with that?"

"You are the Queen, Your Majesty, and I am sure you can persuade the King to take his duties more seriously. It is your duty as well."

"The King and I never fail in doing our duties, Prime Minister! You do well to remember that." The Queen raised her brows and the minister's next words made her blood boil.

"I know, Your Majesty. I also know that it is not easy to find a young unwed maiden who can take on the responsibility of carrying the future King. If I may so bold as to give Your Majesty a suggestion. My second daughter is still unwed. She is still young with her 1500 years but after talking to her she is ready to help the King to strengthen his bloodline. And as if fate has wanted it, she is close to her prime. She can enter the palace anytime."

The Queen needed all her composure to not jump on the prime minister. It was not the first time he offered one of his children for the sake of the royal family, but it was the first time to do so with his second youngest daughter.

The Prime Minister had many children. He had 6 boys and 4 girls born by his wife, and 8 sons and 12 girls born by his 5 mistresses. He tried a few times before to wed one of his sons to one of the King's and Queen's daughters but it was always rejected because the princesses should never marry someone they don't like.

In the past, the Prime Minister tried to send his oldest daughter into the King's arms but he failed to do so. In the end, his oldest daughter managed to marry the King of Arabia as his mistress by getting pregnant with his child. That was around 500 years ago and now, the Prime Minister was trying to send his second youngest daughter into the King's bed, hoping for her to get pregnant with a boy and for him to be able to rise in his position as the future King's grandfather. His next step was probably to make his daughter take the Queen's place.

The Prime Minister was greedy for power, wealth, and fame. It was an open secret. Knowing that his daughter was close to her prime, he would try his best to find a way to get her into the King's bed which would be everything but easy. The Queen would make sure to protect her husband.

A female Vampire was able to conceive every 500 years. The closer she gets to that time, the more hormones will be spread which could lure other vampires, and once the prime time was achieved, without protection, a pregnancy was highly likely. That was the reason why unwed women were not allowed to leave their houses until it was over. During that time, except for her family, every man was not allowed inside.

"I have heard you, Prime Minister. I will talk to the King about your ... concern and helpfulness. Everyone is dismissed now."

"Your Majesty, it important that-"

"I said, I heard you!" The Queen raised her voice slightly. None of the other Ministers interfered. For one, because no one should make the Queen angry, and secondly, many of them are either on the Prime Minister's side or scared of him.

"I am just worried, Your Majesty. If His Majesty considers my daughter, he has to act fast before her prime would be over."

"If she is close to her prime, she should definitely stay at home, don't you think? Make sure she doesn't leave it. Who knows what could happen otherwise?" The Queen said and almost smiled seeing his shocked expression.

"Dismissed!" She repeated and saw how everyone left. The Prime Minister looked rather disappointed which amused the Queen. But not enough to make her smile. She turned around and left the throne hall to join the King in his office.

"This ... this ... this lousy damn little-"

"My dear, please don't be upset. You know his antics and you also know my unconditional love for you."

The Queen took a deep breath. "Darling, I am okay with every woman you will choose to take in to produce an heir but I do not allow a daughter or family member of the Prime Minister or his close friends and alleys!"

"I won't choose another woman, my Queen. All I need is you."

"Luo Jin, my darling, I know about your love for me and I love you just as much. We made a promise to each other when we got married but that was before it was revealed I could not give birth to boys. You and I, both know about the importance of an heir and we can't just let it slide just because we are against it. You know that you need an heir someday."

"My love, do you know how you look when you say something like this?" The King asked and took his Queen in his arms. "Your eyes are begging me to not agree, they are begging me to drop that topic so you can have me all on your own."

The Queen didn't say anything because he was right. Like always. No one understood her more than him.

"I already have a plan, Tang Yan."

The Queen frowned and the King laughed. "Don't worry, my love. I won't let you share me with another woman. I am all yours."

"Yes, you are." The Queen smiled. "Then what plan do you have?"

"It's time to change the traditions. I plan to let Xuan Lu take over the throne someday in the future. I know it will be a hard fight to get that achieved but I am ready to fight if that means all the talking about sharing the bed with someone else then you will stop. I love you so much that I would rather kill myself than let someone else touch me."

The Queen beamed despite knowing about the difficulties of her beloved's plan. She knew that it would be a long, long time before anyone would even think about changing traditions but it made her happy that her husband at least didn't give up.

"I trust you, Luo Ji, but that plan of yours will be very difficult to achieve. Those Ministers are not easy to persuade and the Prime Minister won't agree because that would mean he has no chance to send his daughters into your bed. He still has two more daughters and if that doesn't work either, he will probably try to send one of his 12 illegitimate daughters to you. Which is amusing as he doesn't regard them any importance due to their blood."

"I really don't understand why people hate illegitimate children. I mean, I married a beautiful and fine one after all." The King nibbled at the Queen's earlobe making the Queen giggle.

"The Prime Minister is not the only one. I still remember how your father hated me for what I am."

"You amended yourself by giving him lots of granddaughters. But... if you are still worried, we could just give him another one." The King whispered and kissed his Queen deeply. The Queen responded and slowly pushed him down his chair.

"It's still some time until my prime, Your Majesty." The Queen whispered back.

"That doesn't forbid us from trying. Maybe a miracle awaits us."

The Queen giggled and let her hands run over her King's body. "We haven't done it in here for a while, have we?"

The King growled and felt his pants tighten and the Queen, who saw it, patted that region of his, making her beloved hiss and showing his fangs.

Suddenly there was a knock. "Your Majesty, I have something to report."

The King growled in dissatisfaction but the visitor in front of the door didn't seem to mind. "May I come in?"

"Come in!" The Queen announced with a laugh and sat on her husband's lap. The King suppressed a moan, especially when the visitor entered. The Queen smiled innocently.

"Your Majesties." The visitor greeted.

"I really like you, Wang Yibo, but your timing is the worst." The King said annoyed.

"I apologize, Your Majesty."

"Don't worry about it. You are the head of the Royal Guards. So? What do you want to report?" The Queen asked while slightly moving in the King's lap. But before Yibo could answer, the King jumped up and grabbed his wife.

"There is something more urgent than that report of yours, Yibo. Go to the salon and have some tea or whatever you like."

"Luo Jin!" The Queen shouted in surprise.

"You provoked me more than enough, my dear. Do you really think that report is important? More than me?"

"Right." The Queen giggled. "Nothing is more important than my King."

"Exactly." With that, he turned around and within a second, the King and Queen were gone.

Wang Yibo didn't change his expression as he turned around as well, making his way to the Salon.

To be continued...
