Xiao Zhan's POV

"Stop it, Xiao Zhan." The Queen shook her head. "We don't do that."

"Do what?" I asked her confused.

"Pity this devil's child." She sighed and turned to me. "Xiao Zhan, by now I am sure you understand what they were planning. They planned for her to sneak into your room and seduce you. They wanted you to impregnate her, bind you to her, and make sure that no one could come between you. They wanted her to marry you and become the future Queen. They did not care about you or your feelings, they only cared about their status, their money and their power".

I knew that. I understood everything the moment I saw last night's drama. I didn't understand why I still felt sorry for her when I obviously shouldn't.

"I know," I told her dejectedly. "But... who was he anyway? He was clearly a human. Not just half, but a full human."

"You noticed that?" She smiled brightly. "That means your vampire traits are showing."

"I guess..." I blushed, feeling a little proud. Weeks ago, I would have gone crazy when I heard that. Back then, when I was still unaware of my nature. Or rather, I didn't want to admit it.

The Queen chuckled at me. "Yes, he was human. But not an ordinary one. He is a Human Protector. You know what that is, don't you?" She beamed at me.

I blinked a few times. "Yes, they know about our existence and their job is to protect humans. They work closely with our family's secret organization to make sure that humans don't find out about us, that we obey the laws, especially in the human world, and that peace reigns. They are not allowed to kill vampires, but if one of us commits a crime, our family will decide the punishment."

"Not just our family, but every royal family. Each for their country." She smiled, seemingly happy that I had learned so much in the past few weeks. "So that human form last night is the son of someone even you know."

"I do?" I asked skeptically and the Queen shook her head.

"Perhaps knowing is too strong a word, but you have met him. He is the son of Detective Zhong, Zhong Jiayi. His father was the one who... found you and reported to us."

I tried to remember him, but it took me a while. "I only met him a few times. He was the one who investigated Min-Ah's death." I jumped when Yibo growled next to me. I looked at him, but he acted as if nothing had happened.

"That's right. We stayed in touch and that is how I managed to find the perfect weapon for the Prime Minister and his daughter." I didn't know how I looked, but she laughed.

"Don't worry, my dear. I would never force anyone to do anything they didn't want to. Well, there are some exceptions, but not in this case." She smiled smugly.

"Anyway, I have met Detective Zhong a few times and I have also met his son. He's not exactly the perfect human protector. In fact, he does not do his job at all, but roams the streets having fun. His father is worried because he and his son are the last members of his family. So if they both die, their family line will be broken."

She sighed. "He's quite a handful, I hear. He won't settle down and loves to play with women. The last time I went to the human world and met Detective Zhong, Jiayi was there as well. He seemed very interested in our kind, but not for the right reasons.

She shuddered and I frowned. "He openly stated that he would like to have fun with a female vampire for once, to find out if it was any different than with humans. So..."

"I guess I have to pay this brat a visit?" The King growled, pulling his wife possessively to his side. "How dare he be interested in you!"

"Why do you think he was interested in me?" She asked him amusedly.

"You are the most beautiful woman in both worlds, no one can compare to you, my dear. Of course, that brat was flirting with you." The Queen patted the King's chest gently.

"He did, actually." She replied. The King's eyes turned red, making the Queen laugh. "Which is why I came up with this fantastic plan to fool the Prime Minister. Calm down, darling. You know I would never lay eyes on anyone but you." She stopped and looked at me.

"Except maybe Xiao Zhan." She winked at me as a sudden growl echoed off the walls. I looked at Yibo in shock.

"You dare to growl at me?" The Queen raised her eyebrows at him. "You better watch your mouth, Yibo. I have many ways to make your life a living hell."

She looked at me for a moment, then back at Yibo. Suddenly I felt his hand right over my bottom and he pulled me closer to him. As much as I liked that kind of attention from him, he was doing it in front of my parents, damn it!

"Anyway, seeing as he was so interested in our females, I thought why not ask him if he would like to take part in a little adventure."

"And he just agreed?" I asked suspiciously. "Didn't he know that he would most likely impregnate her?"

"He did, and that is why he only agreed to help if I allowed him to enter the donation center. It seems he had some very perverted fantasies. Men can be disgusting." She turned to the King and gave him a gentle kiss. "Not you, darling."

"I agreed and we made a deal. He wasn't very fond of the idea of becoming a father, but by going along with my plan, he not only had the chance to make his fantasies come true, but he also fulfilled his father's dreams of continuing the bloodline. Not only that but a human protector who is half vampire, half human? It would be a win-win for both worlds.

The King nodded absentmindedly. "It certainly is..."

"I'm sure that's not why you did it," Yibo said, and the Queen nodded with a mischievous grin.

"Of course not. They may have planned to mix her oh-so-pure blood with that of a human, but only to gain many other things, like power and status. What would happen if she carried a human baby, completely unrelated to the royal family? A baby that has the blood of a human protector, a bloodline that is hated by vampires even more than the blood of a normal human?"

I stared at her. Yibo taught me a lot about the history of vampires. In the old days, a very, very long time ago, humans and vampires hated each other. After a while, our kind was forgotten. Especially when we created our own world away from humans. Since vampires still went out to kill humans, human protectors were sent out to protect humans. Much later, every royal family had made a pact with them to ensure that our kind wouldn't kill or harm humans in any way.

Many vampires hated their lack of freedom. They weren't allowed to do what they wanted, or drink from humans without caring if they wanted to or not, without caring if they died or not. So Human Protectors were sort of the vampires' greatest enemies. The fact that this girl was carrying the offspring of a Human Protector must be the worst thing in the eyes of the pure-blood Prime Minister, who came from the oldest vampire family. The Queen really hated him.

"I took Jiayi with me and left him in your room while I kept you in Yibo's room. Of course, we didn't have to wait long for that bastard to sneak his daughter in. And that smell .... yuck! You can't hide that."

I raised my eyebrows. "Smell? You mean-"

"Yes. That terribly sweet smell she spread over half the palace. Even you could smell it, I heard."

I looked at Xuan Lu, who nodded. "That's why I told you to ignore it."

"She entered your room and wasted no time in seducing Jiayi, thinking it was you. She spent several days with him, enjoying the time of her prime to the fullest. Then she left and stayed at home for a while until her pregnancy was confirmed. Then she came back to spend more time with Jiayi and seduce him completely while preparing to announce her love and pregnancy at the banquet, ready to move into the palace and take the title of Crown Princess."

She sounded angry as she thought about the audacity of this family.

"But..." I tried to find the right words, hoping I wouldn't react too much. "When she spent ... um ... the nights with him, why didn't she find out that he wasn't me? I mean, when our kind does ... that, we tend to bite each other. The more passionate we are, the more we bite."

I couldn't help blushing. The images of last night came back immediately, I remembered the bite marks and the feeling... and Yibo's hand on my bottom didn't make it easy to get those images out of my mind.

As if he knew what I was thinking, Yibo's hand gently stroked my bottom and then squeezed it. I almost squealed. I glared at him, but he played innocent. I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate.

"The moment she bit him, she should have known it wasn't me. Royal blood tastes a little different than other people's."

"Roses," Yibo muttered, licking his lips.

"You seem to have learned a lot even though Yibo was your teacher." The Queen smiled at me.

"What's wrong with me being his teacher?" Yibo asked, sounding slightly annoyed.

"You know exactly what I mean!" The Queen frowned at him before turning her head back to me. I heard Xuan Lu's soft giggle in the background.

"Yes, our family's blood has a taste similar to roses. Other royal families have a different taste. She didn't realize that because she was too proud to bite Jiayi. How strong must her will be not to bite during sex?"

I blushed and looked away. I was an adult and yet I was embarrassed by a simple word. Or maybe it was just because those images filled my mind again.

"After the girl left to go home and wait for the doctor's confirmation, I fulfilled my promise to Jiayi and had someone escort him to the donation center. It may sound unbelievable, but human blood is not unpopular, so there were quite a few women who were eager to help out with his fantasies."

I frowned and the Queen nodded. "Exactly my thoughts. I would have understood his behavior and naughtiness if he was a teenager, but this man is 26. Yet he only thinks about this one thing. Whatever. My plan was a success! The girl is pregnant and her father is mad as hell, Jiayi can live out his wildest dreams while his father finally gets the grandchild he has been wishing for, and even the females at the center had a few enjoyable nights with a human and a lot of human blood. Everyone is happy, everything worked out well."

"What will happen to her?" I asked, biting my lips as I stifled a groan when I felt Yibo's hand slip into my pants, gently stroking my skin and occasionally squeezing my bottom.

"Her father rejected her. He did not use the words, but I know him well enough. So she will stay in the palace while she gets all the help and care she needs to give birth to her baby. Once the child is born, we will hand it over to Detective Zhong. Of course, she can follow her child to the human world and live her life there with her child if she wants to. I doubt it, but we will see. And with Human Protectors around her 24/7, she can't do anything stupid or commit a crime.

I was about to lose it. If Yibo didn't take his hand out right away, I swear I would lose it completely! As if he heard my thoughts, he took his hands out, but kept them on my lower back. I sighed in relief and maybe a little disappointment.

The Queen cleared her voice and when I gave her my attention, she had a mischievous smile on her face. The smile grew as I felt my cheeks warm.

"Now that that is out of the way, let's move on to another topic." She announced. "We can't keep Mei Mei waiting any longer than we already have, can we?"

"Great... I thought annoyed and wished I could just go back to our room and spend some time alone with Yibo. But I guess it couldn't be helped. Especially when my sister looked at me with a strange expression on her face. She looked pensive and curious.

Soon we arrived at the reception hall, and even before the door was opened, I could smell her. She was wearing that awful perfume that tickled my nose and made me want to sneeze. She smelled so... sweet and floral. Like lilies and other scents I knew but couldn't place.

The moment we entered the room, she stood up and greeted us respectfully. But as soon as she saw Yibo, she had this smile on her face and a certain glow in her eyes that I didn't like. I looked at Yibo, too, and now I thought he was wearing too little clothing, just dark blue pants and a tight white shirt. Especially when that shirt left nothing to the imagination. You could see his muscles and abs, and even his nipples were slightly visible.

My mood slowly became uncontrollable.

"Mei Mei, thank you for your time." The King said and the woman turned to him.

"Of course, Your Majesty. I can't possibly stay away when my presence is needed. May I ask how I can help you?"

"It has to do with that little incident in the kitchen two days ago." He replied and I saw her face turn red.

"I'm really sorry about that. I can't even explain why it happened. I have no such feelings for him," she said remorsefully and turned her eyes to Yibo. "You have to believe me."

I bit my lips and swallowed any comment.

"How about explaining what happened in more detail?" The King asked and the woman lowered her head. I could feel her embarrassment, which made me curious to know what had happened.

"I don't know, Your Majesty. I've been feeling strange since the training ended, but I couldn't figure out what it was. I thought I was tired, but even after taking a nap, the feeling didn't go away. So in the evening, I went to the kitchen thinking that I might be hungry. And then..."

I saw her looking at Yibo and wanted to scratch her eyes out. I knew it was an extreme thought, but I couldn't help it. That was how I felt at that moment.

"Leo came into the kitchen."

"That guy loves food almost as much as his wife. The cook has already expressed his displeasure about missing ingredients in the morning." The Queen chuckled. "Continue."

"Well, that's about it. He came in and..." Her cheeks turned red as she tried to find the right words to explain herself. "He didn't even do anything, and I never thought of him as anything other than a colleague. But somehow I ... approached him and ..."

She paused and seemed to be too embarrassed to talk any further. I could feel her guilt as well.

"Approaching him is a rather weak word, I heard." The King cleared his voice and looked to the Queen for help.

"Right. You jumped on him, Mei Mei. You tore off your clothes just before you tore off his, ripping his shirt off. Poor Leo didn't even understand what was happening to him. He is one of the strongest here next to Yibo, yet you were able to push him to the ground and hold him there."

I stared at that woman and couldn't believe what I was hearing. What the hell was she? I heard that she was popular with the guards and that literally everyone had a crush on her for God knows what reason. She had a crush on Yibo, but she was still jumping other men. Disgusting! I felt sorry for Leo.

"I know..." It was barely a whisper, but I heard her.

"It took two guards to get you off him, and even then you had no intention of stopping. If Yibo hadn't come, who knows what would have happened?"

I couldn't stop the rage inside me. Now I knew what Yibo was doing in the kitchen. What made me angry wasn't that he helped her, but that she was obviously naked and Yibo saw her. I bet she did it on purpose!

"It was quite a shock for Leo as well as for his wife. It cost him everything to prevent her from coming here and taking your head." The Queen said. "Are you sure you have no feelings for him?"

"Your Majesty!" She looked up in shock. "I swear on all that is sacred to me! I have no such feelings for him! I really can't explain my behavior. I just had to do it... ...." The way she looked at Yibo when she said she had no feelings for Leo... as if she wanted to make sure Yibo didn't misunderstand her. I knew I was staring at her, and the urge to go up to her and teach her a lesson was strong. I didn't know how, but I managed to stay where I was.

"I see..." I saw the King looking at the Queen and both of them seemed to be communicating with each other without using words. I frowned when I saw Xuan Lu watching me curiously. I raised my eyebrows at her as if to ask what was wrong, but she just shook her head with a smile.

I turned away from her only to see the woman checking out Yibo. As if she knew she was being watched, she looked away and met my eyes. That was when my patience reached its limit.

I felt a little dizzy as images flooded my mind. It was her with Yibo on the training grounds. No one else was in sight and I saw Yibo teaching her some kung fu moves or something. She stretched out her damn ass and rubbed it against Yibo's private parts. This little seduction escalated quickly and soon they were both on the floor. She screamed his name while Yibo was buried deep inside her. The smell of her excitement was so disgusting that I almost vomited.

I couldn't stop myself and lunged at her. Although it was a sudden move on my part and no one could have anticipated it, I wasn't able to get far when Xuan Lu stood in front of me with a shocked expression on her face, stopping me on my way to do who knows what. I gritted my teeth and couldn't help but stare at my sister.

Yibo was suddenly standing next to me, and when I looked at him, he had a worried and confused expression on his face. Although I was beyond angry, I managed to calm down enough to step away from Xuan Lu.

"Zhan?" Yibo called out to me, but I was too angry to talk to him.

"Xiao Zhan!" The Queen also looked at me in shock. "What happened?"

My eyes returned to that woman who looked completely confused. Not shocked, not surprised, not even remorseful.

A hand on my back helped me look away from that witch. I found the King looking at me worriedly, the Queen right next to him.

"What happened?" She asked quietly, but I couldn't answer her as the door opened and three guards entered. No one called out to them, so I assume they were behind the mirror. They looked at that woman worriedly and turned to me. Their eyes accused me, but they didn't say a word.

"Mei Mei?" One of them called to her.

"Are you okay?" Another asked, while the third nodded as if to emphasize the question.

'She must be popular with them.' I thought and saw that woman smiling at them. She obviously has a bunch of men around her ready to do anything she says. Yet this woman is trying to take what is mine!?

"I am fine." She told the guards and turned to me with a gentle smile on her face. It wasn't a mocking smile, but a worried one, and that made me even angrier.

"Are you sure?" The third guard asked, looking at me. When I met his gaze, he bowed respectfully before turning back to admire this woman. What was so great about her?

"Of course. His Highness is half-human and at the age where his transformation will take place, which means he will behave strangely from time to time. It is understandable and nothing to worry about." Was she mocking me because I wasn't a full vampire like her? I had to fight the urge to bare my teeth.

Her eyes turned to Yibo, who had his hand on my shoulders, looking at me. Maybe she thought he was trying to protect her from me because she smiled and her eyes sparkled. Then her attention returned to me, a look of concern on her face. I stared back at her.

'You think he cares about you? Dream on! He is not interested in you. He wouldn't even care if you took those three guards over there and fucked them all night long. Try it! I'll show you the hard way!'

"Xiao Zhan, darling?" The Queen's hand on my shoulder made me break eye contact with that woman and I turned to her. "What's going on, huh? Come on, tell me." She raised her hands and gently stroked my cheeks. Uncomfortable with so many people present, I couldn't utter a word. I swore the Queen could read my mind when I heard her next words.

"Bowen, escort the three guards out and then make sure no one interrupts us. The Observation Room is off limits for today." She turned to the three guards. "Go to the exercise yard and get some exercise. Seeing you all tense up, I am sure it will help you calm down."

No one dared to oppose her words, and soon the three guards and Bowen were gone. Xuan Lu decided to stand next to that woman. She also looked at me worriedly. Seeing that everyone was more worried about me than what could have happened to that woman if I had gotten my hands on her was pleasing to me and calmed me down a bit.

"Now, are you going to tell me what that was all about?" The Queen wanted to know. "She didn't do anything to you. Or is it because of what happened to Leo? I didn't know you were that close to him to get so angry on his behalf."

"I'm not," I mumbled. "But I feel sorry for him that he almost got raped by that woman. He didn't deserve that."

I heard her take a sharp breath. "I didn't rape him!"

"I know. But you definitely would have if no one had stopped you." I accused her, and it was a sight to see her face turn even redder.

"Your Highness! I swear I..." She stopped and bit her lips, probably fully aware of what she was doing. "I really don't understand it myself... I have no feelings for him at all." She looked over at Yibo, and that made me angry again.

"Stop looking at Yibo!" I growled and saw her flinch.

"W-what?"

"Stop looking at him!" I repeated.

"Xiao Zhan." The Queen called me softly. "Is that why you are angry? Because she was looking at Yibo."

She seemed to be amused, but I wasn't in the mood for jokes. "If she continues to have these disgusting thoughts, I will tear her apart!"

"What?" The King was clearly confused. "What do you mean?"

I pointed at the woman. "She keeps having disgusting thoughts about Yibo!"

"Calm down and explain." The Queen patted my shoulder.

"What is there to explain?" I felt my fangs sticking out. "This woman thinks she can fuck Yibo, but she is wrong!"

That woman paled and looked from me to Yibo. "I didn't..."

"You didn't!?" I couldn't believe she was accusing me of lying. "So you never once thought that a private training session with Yibo would lead to a night of pleasure? Have you never thought about riding Yibo? Fucking him until you go crazy? Just for your information, having these thoughts is clear proof that you have already lost your mind! He won't fuck you! You won't be able to fuck him!"

"Enough! Enough!" The Queen almost shouted. "Xiao Zhan, please watch your language." She reprimanded me and I suddenly felt bad for making her raise her voice.

"Calm down, okay?" She stepped forward and stroked my cheeks. "How about you put those cute little fangs back in, huh?" My eyes twitched, so angry was I, but I pulled my fangs in. It was getting easier to control them, which made me extraordinarily happy.

"Good boy." I frowned at her treating me like a puppy, but she just winked at me. "So what makes you think she was thinking about... something like that?"

"I never-" I heard that woman's voice.

"You did!" I growled at her. "And it was disgusting to watch!" I was about to lunge at her again, but Yibo stopped me. I glared at him, hell, I even growled at him, but he didn't seem to mind. That woman paled.

"Zhan..." He called me, and it was slightly annoying how I calmed down just because of that.

"So, Xiao Zhan, you... " The King spoke up. "You saw her having those thoughts?" I bit my lip.

"You read her thoughts?" Now even the Queen was astonished.

"If only it were so, I would be happy!" I grumbled, my body shaking with disgust.

"What do you mean by that?" The King followed.

"I didn't have to read anything, that woman had a whole movie in her damn head!" I cursed and turned to the Queen. "Sorry. It just slipped out."

She didn't seem to care that I was cursing. "A movie? You mean you... saw everything?"

"I saw it, I heard it, I even smelled it!" My whole body shook and I actually thought I was going to throw up. It was quiet except for my labored breathing. Everyone turned to that woman, and while she had been pale before, her face was now beet red.

"I... I..." She stuttered and looked at Yibo in shock as she shook her head.

I heard a sigh from Xuan Lu. "I don't think it's a secret that Mei Mei has a crush on Yibo."

That woman looked down for a few seconds before looking up again. Her face was still red, but she was suddenly annoyingly confident as she looked at Yibo and smiled shyly at him.

"So, Mei Mei, is it true what my brother... I mean, what the Crown Prince said?"

She was silent and looked confused. When she looked up, another wave of images coincidentally flooded my mind. I saw Yibo looking at her in shock, asking her if her feelings for him were real. I saw her nod and Yibo running up to her, kissing her and exclaiming that he had feelings for her as well. I saw her pull him away from here, and push him into the next bedroom, and from then on, it was a repeat of what I had seen the first time at the training ground.

Before I could react, however, Yibo had me firmly in her grip after sensing my tension. Since I couldn't attack her, I cursed her. "No way is that going to happen! Get these thoughts out of your damn head!"

The woman's only reaction was a puzzled expression and a dark shade of red appeared on her face.

"What were you thinking about, Mei Mei?" It was Yibo who asked in a dangerously deep voice.

"I... nothing... I just..." She stuttered again.

"She thinks you will confess to her and then she will push you onto the next bed and fuck you into oblivion," I growled at her.

Now her face was pale. The sudden color changes on her face made me dizzy.

"Okay, everyone calm down!" The Queen raised her voice. "How about we...? Wang Yibo!"

I widened my eyes as Yibo pressed his lips to mine out of nowhere. In the midst of this passionate kiss, I felt my legs turn to pudding, my body relax, and all the anger and aggression sucked out of me. When Yibo let go of me, I almost stumbled, but he caught me and held me tightly, caressing my cheeks.

"I won't confess my love to anyone but you." He told me, pecking my lips. Then he turned to that woman who was staring at us. She didn't seem to know what to do but stare, and I let her.

I heard the Queen clear her voice and turned to her. She glared at Yibo before looking at me with a smile. "Xiao Zhan. I think your anger has prevented you from realizing what you have done."

I tilted my head and frowned.

"You said you saw what was going on in her head. Didn't it occur to you that it might have been something special?" She asked amused.

Now that she said it, I realized it. But earlier I had been far too irritated to notice. All I cared about was that this woman wanted Yibo and I couldn't have that.

"This is a nice skill, Xiao Zhan." The King nodded his head, looking rather proud. "As far as I can remember, I don't think anyone in our family had this ability before."

Trying to ignore the woman who was still staring at us, or rather at Yibo in shock, I turned to the King.

"I can easily do without this ability. I don't care what others think." I told him.

"I don't believe you can read other people's minds." The Queen said.

"I literally saw what was going on in her head!"

"That you did. But I don't think it was what she was thinking at the time. Reading minds works differently. You usually don't see pictures in your head."

"Then what exactly did I see?" I wanted to know. 'And how can I turn it off'

The Queen looked at the King, who nodded at her, before turning back to me. "When you actually see something, there are three possibilities. Either you saw what happened in the past, or you saw what will happen in the future."

'Her past? Or her future?'  I looked at Yibo who shook his head as if to say that he had never touched her and would never do so in the future. I believed him, he wouldn't lie to me, but what was this all about?

"Or," the Queen continued and I turned back to her. "... and I think this might be the case here, you saw Mei Mei's deepest desire. It is no secret that she has a crush on Yibo. Mei Mei? Could it be that what the prince saw was your deepest desire?"

The woman's face turned red in a form I had never seen before. She began to stutter something that no one seemed to understand before she turned and quickly left the room. Then it was quiet for a while.

Even though what I saw was just stuff that woman made up, I still felt that Yibo had betrayed me. Which was ridiculous because it didn't really happen. But I damn well saw it. Three times!

It made me so angry that my head started to hurt.

"Mother, I think we need to talk about the other thing as well." Xuan Lu spoke up.

"What now?" I groaned.

My sister turned to me. "I think you might have another ability. One that is quite strong."
