Chapter 26: Thirsty for more

Back with another update. I hope you enjoy it <3 <3 <3

Xiao Zhan's POV

Okay, maybe calling it an attack was a tiny little bit exaggerated.

I found myself surrounded by warmth. I froze on the spot when the Queen hugged me. No matter how different the lifestyles are in this world, I would never understand why she could be so nice to me. I was an anomaly in her perfect life, wasn't I? Who would want to raise or interact with a child their spouse had with someone else in a heat of a moment?

"I am so sorry Xiao Zhan. We were a little bit slow in finding you a donor. We didn't expect the thirst to hit you out of nowhere. Are you alright?" She asked me and the worry in her voice was real. She was genuinely worried about me.

She stepped back and studied me. "It must have been a shock for you. I am really sorry, Xiao Zhan."

"I...." What could I answer to that? I felt weird getting all her attention. But don't let me lie, I could get used to it in the future.

I saw her looking at Yibo. "I apologize for what happened but I am truly thankful you helped him out. I hope you are okay."

"Mhn, I am perfectly fine," Yibo answered.

"Oh... I see. Well, I am glad you are perfectly fine." I could have sworn I saw a smirk in her face but when she turned back to me, it was gone.

"And you? Are you okay? If not, please let me know. The first time is always rather uncomfortable even for a vampire."

"I am okay. I ... don't feel uncomfortable." I answered honestly, trying to ignore my best friend who was visibly confused by this conversation. "Maybe because it wasn't my first time. I might not remember but...."

"I doubt that is the case but maybe being half-human makes you grasp things differently." She raised her hands and caressed my cheeks and my forehead. A smile appeared on her face as she ruffled through my hair but was suddenly replaced by a frown when her hands wandered down the back of my head over my neck towards my back. Her hands wandered over the back of my neck a second time before she pulled me into another hug,

"Yibo!" It wasn't a yell but she sounded not angry but ... well, not amused either. I broke free from her hug and turned to Yibo to figure out what made the Queen upset. He did nothing but stand there and meet the Queen's gaze.

"You can't just-!" She took a deep breath. "You will take care of that, do you hear me? How did this even happen when Xiao Zhan was the one drinking from you?"

I saw Yibo's ears turning pink again and it made me feel kind of satisfied. Yibo was usually like stone, rarely showing an expression. His ears changing color was proof that this man was human too. I mean, vampire.

Well, you know what I mean.

"Shit!" Haoxuan's yell was louder than the Queen's voice when she was reprimanding Yibo for who knew what.

"Seriously? I mean... you actually bit him and ... you know, drank from him?" He gaped at me. Not with a disgusted look but with an amazed and curious look. "Damn, that's awesome."

"Shut up!" That was Ji Yang's dark voice. "Who allowed you to talk like that!?"

Haoxuan met his gaze confidently. "Who allowed you to talk to me like you are doing ever since we met? I haven't even done anything to get treated by you like this. You are being unreasonable. You are the one that needs to be more friendly to me after what you have done!"

I saw him biting his lips and turning away from the vampire. Ji Yang looked even more annoyed now but also confused. He eyed the back of my friend's head questioningly as if the answer he was seeking was written on that. He wasn't completely wrong.

I didn't bother answering Haoxuan's questions.

"Did you hear what I said, Wang Yibo?" The Queen asked firmly.

"Yes, Your Majesty. I shall..." He looked at me for a second. "... take care of it."

'Take care of what?' I asked myself confused.

"Good." She turned to me. "Are you really okay? Was Yibo's blood enough? We brought in the lady who helped Ji Yang just in case. She will be here until we found a perfect permanent donor for you. Should you still require blood, she will help you."

I frowned. Just because I did it once didn't mean I would do it again.

'You liked it....'

So what I did. That didn't mean I would do it again.

'But you want to. You liked it. It was delicious.'

I frowned even more, 100 % sure, this annoying voice was my inner vampire.

'Forget the breakfast. It tastes all good but nothing compared to blood. You carve for it, admit it.'

It annoyed me that felt my fangs trying to break free.

'Come on, do it. You will feel good. You will feel better.'

"That won't be necessary," Yibo's voice brought me back to reality. His hand touched my back and he gently pushed me towards the table. I sat down and Yibo followed suit. The Queen walked to her chair and her eyes lingered on Yibo for a few more seconds before she took a seat. She then pointed to the table.

"Let's start eating. The cook did wonderful work like always." She watched how Haoxuan, Ji Yang, and Yibo started to fill their plates before her eyes fell on me.

"I bet the food doesn't look promising right now, does it?" She smiled at me understandingly.

"Is that ... normal?"

"Of course, it is. Everyone will go through that. Don't think just because we are vampires we only feed on blood every since we were born."

"Do the babies here drink blood or milk?" That question came from Haoxuan, who munched his French toast like there was nothing more delicious.

'He never drank blood before...' I shook my head to get rid of these thoughts.

Anyway, why would he ask such unnecessary questions?

The Queen laughed. "They drink milk, Haoxuan. The need for blood hits us in our teens"

"So during puberty?"

"Exactly. It starts then but we do have latecomers as well. We don't need to drink blood all the time, we are perfectly fine with normal food. But we do have a lot of people who only drink blood or who drink blood all the time." She turned to me.

"You gave your body something new. Something it likes. The memory of that taste lingers in your taste buds and your mind. It makes normal food look unpromising to you. I bet right now you would love to dig your fangs back into the skin and drink until you are drunk."

I flinched when Yibo accidentally dropped his cutlery. The Queen watched him absentmindedly while he was getting himself a new set of cutlery.

"You can get drunk from blood?" Haoxuan asked amazed. I was confused that he accepted everything like it was the most normal thing and he wasn't even a human.

"It doesn't have the same effect as alcohol, but yes, you can get drunk." She answered my friend and turned to me.

"Everyone reacts differently when they first drink blood. I, for example, was very hungry afterward. Not for blood but for normal food. I ate half of the contents of the pantry back in my father's house until the cook found me and kicked me out. After that, he protected his kitchen like his life depended on it. I am sure that man is still scared of me today. But I don't mind. He can't compare to our cook in the royal kitchen anyway. He makes the best food you will find in both worlds...." She smiled and took a bite from her breakfast.

"Then we have Xuan Lu." She said and smiled at me. "She is your oldest sister. She was supposed to arrive already but she must have gotten distracted. Hopefully, it's a man... I hope she finally settles down but she is rather stubborn."

Right, I had sisters. Yibo didn't say how many but I remember he said I had a few.

"Xuan Lu's craving came out of nowhere. There were no signs so we couldn't prepare anything. We did find a volunteer within the royal guards though. But even after she drank from him until he almost passed out, she hadn't had enough and took it upon herself to find ... supplies."

She chuckled and shook her head. "She actually drank from 4 royal guards that night. I am not sure how much you already know but drinking blood from someone is a very intimate act and if you don't have a strong will then you could get excited."

"I already heard of that..." I tried to control my body so I wouldn't blush. "Did she...?"

"What?" She asked and then laughed. "Oh no. She didn't get weak if that is what you mean. She has a stronger mind than all your other sisters together. But the royal guards got weak."

I frowned. "Did something happen to her?" I asked and felt anger rising within me thinking what these guards could have done to her. How dare they!

"No, after she was satiated she left and wandered through the palace. As I mentioned earlier, drinking too much blood will get you drunk. That dear daughter of mine was pretty much wasted. She was found soon and escorted back to her room."

"Then what about the guards?" It was Haoxuan's question.

"They have been left behind in a very unfortunate situation." It was the first time the Queen blushed.

I didn't know how I looked but it made her laugh. "No, sweetheart, I didn't do anything. As they had no one to turn to, all 4 guards ended up in one bed. I don't have to go into details, do I? I haven't seen it myself but I have a very honest and loyal subject who told me everything he saw." Her eyes fell on Yibo and then she winked at me.

"Yibo was one of those royal guards!?" I couldn't help but yell in surprise. I looked at Yibo in shock and he dropped his cutlery for the second time this day. His ears have never been as red as before and I heard the Queen laughing.

"So this is how he looks when he is extremely embarrassed. I have to say, red ears look good on you, Yibo." She laughed louder when even his cheeks turn pink. I couldn't help but stare at him. I haven't seen his cheeks turn pink yet.

"He wasn't one of them, Xiao Zhan, so don't be angry. But he was the one who found them when they did not show up for their shift. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to see what happened. But if YIbo looked like he did now, it would have been a sight to be seen."

Yibo picked up his cutlery once more but I saw him having trouble using them properly. He stared so deep into his plate that I wouldn't be surprised it would break under that intense gaze. I couldn't help but smile.

"So he walked in on them?" Haoxuan asked in disbelief. "Damn! The embarrassment he must have felt... nothing can compare to that."

"Oh? Did you walk in on someone too?" The Queen asked amused.

"No, someone walked in on me..." was all he said before continuing eating trying to ignore the stares he was receiving from Ji Yang. I forced myself to take my eyes off Yibo and looked at my empty plate. I was hungry but... somehow I wasn't. All this didn't raise my appetite.

I wanted something else.

"Anyway, it is not unusual to have no appetite. If you want to I can call over that lady and you can drink-"

For the third time today, Yibo dropped his culinary. He got up from his seat. "I am done. Let's go."

"W-what?" I was confused.

"I am done and you have no appetite. There is no need to be here."

"Hey, that is impolite!" I complained but he was already at the door and held it open for me. I was torn between staying here or following Yibo. He was right. I wouldn't get down one bite and he was already done. I looked at his plate to see he did not even eat that much.

"If he is done and you feel uncomfortable and are sure you don't want to eat, you can leave first Xiao Zhan. I don't mind."

I almost sighed in relief. "Thank you, Your-"

"Don't even start. If you call me Your Majesty, I will get upset." She raised her finger as if to threaten me. "Don't mind me and go. Yesterday must have taken a toll on you and make sure to relax. But don't sleep or you won't be able to sleep tonight. It will mess with your routine."

Her words sounded strangely familiar.

"But if you need the donor, call-"

"Xiao Zhan, hurry up." Yibo interrupted the Queen and I was surprised he dared to do that. It wasn't even the first time today. But the Queen didn't seem to mind. All she did was smile at Yibo overly friendly and with raised brows.

"Make sure to take care of it. You can't just leave it like this. What if someone sees it?"

"He won't meet anyone anyway..." I wasn't sure if I heard Yibo correctly but considering my improved hearing ability, I must have.

"Wrong." The Queen answered. "I shall introduce him soon. I am currently planning to prepare a ball for that. I am just not sure when exactly it will happen. I need to wait for the perfect time but it should be held in a few weeks."

I was shocked. She wanted to what? Prepare a ball to introduce me to like ... everyone? Oh, how great... Lucky me ...

"But even if there was no ball, leaving it like this is not gentleman like. Especially if it isn't your significant other. Xiao Zhan is a prince, don't be disrespectful. Moreover, since when did you get so cheeky with me?" The Queen raised her brows at him before looking at me. "If Yibo does something weird do reprimand him, Xiao Zhan. Alright? And if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Yibo, too, if you like."

There was indeed something I wanted to know. "Yesterday, I mean, last night I smelled something extremely sweet and -"

"Oh, that was nothing. For now, there is no need for you to think about that." She smiled but her eyes looked rather cold. If she would have looked at me like this the first time we met, I would have been scared and probably never left my room. But now, after knowing her better, I was sure that the coldness was not directed at me. I wasn't sure what made her so angry, but I am happy I wasn't the one who would face her wrath.

"Your Majesty, may I get up as well? I would like to find the young lady from before. I need to talk to her." Ji Yang asked politely and when Haoxuan was happily munching the food seconds ago, he now looked rather worried.

I bit my lips in worry and decided to keep an eye on their situation. I turned to Yibo who was staring at me so intently that the temperature in the room rose. He stopped when our eyes met and stepped out of the dining room where he waited for me to follow.

I couldn't explain it but somehow I thought that Yibo had changed. I didn't know what it was but he definitely did.

We were walking down the hall and I concentrated on the sounds of steps from the upper as well as the lower floors. I heard the giggles of women and the whispers and laughing of men. My ears also caught the sound of the footsteps of the royal guards that are walking through the palace and even the birds outside. It was amazing that I could hear all that but I was slowly getting a headache. I haven't heard all of this when I was in our room which was thanks to the walls.

"What do I have to do to turn my hearing ability off?" I asked Yibo.

"Just do it."

I frowned. "Great, thanks for the help," I grumbled and heard a soft chuckle.

"Just concentrate and lock the sound out. It's not as difficult as you might think. You just need to practice."

"How long did it take for you?"

"We learn this ability automatically when we are still babies." He answered and opened the door to our room. "Just try and practice. Think how much these sounds annoy you and keep them out. It might be difficult for you at the beginning but you will get used to it pretty fast."

I stood there in front of the door, not sure what to do now. I didn't want to back into my room nor would it be a good idea to run around freely.

"Fine, I will just practice now." I walked towards the sofa and was about to sit down when I felt Yibo right behind me. His hand touched the back of my neck and I froze. It was just a slight touch but it remembered me of what happened last night.

I wanted to turn around but Yibo didn't let me. He held me in place and I felt his breath hitting my skin right before I felt something wet caressing it. I shuddered and felt a soft touch of pain. It didn't hurt. It might have stung slightly.

"Y-Yibo-" I stuttered and felt his arms wrapping around me, pressing me against his chest.

"I shouldn't have left it there. I am sorry that I did not heal it right away." He apologized for whatever he did. It was an apology but why did I feel he was not the slightest bit remorseful?

"What did you-?" I bit my lips when his tongue slid over my neck. I felt my skin starting to burn but not in a painful way. My teeth... my fangs broke free and pierced my lips slightly. I tasted my blood but I didn't feel anything. Not as much as the day before.

My eyes fell on Yibo's arms around me and before I knew what I was doing, I reached for his left hand, pressed his wrist against my lips and I bit him. His blood immediately left his body and entered mine. It was like someone flipped a switch.

I heard him hissing but I didn't care. I grabbed his hand harder and drank eagerly.

"X-Xiao Zhan... slowly..." Yibo ground out. For a moment I stopped what I was doing, surprised by my action. But then the thirst for more hit me and I wanted to pull him closer. I accidentally pulled his arm with too much strength that he stumbled over and fell on the couch.

Difficult to believe that I was able to push Yibo, the head of the royal guards, the one who claimed to be one of the strongest.

I should have been shocked and feel guilty for pushing him but I didn't. Instead, I was so amused that I unintentionally let out a chuckle before climbing on top of him and biting him again. This time, however, I didn't care about his wrist and instead went for his neck.

The blood hit my taste buds and I could feel it rolling down my esophagus. I moaned in delight.

What I was feeling this time was even better than the day before. Yibo's hands slid to my back and he dug his fingers into my clothed skin. It didn't hurt but instead made me feel good.

For a moment I felt guilty drinking from him without permission but I did so once before and he did not kill me for it yet so I assumed it was alight if I did it again. I didn't even realize how thirsty I was until the first drops of blood entered my system.

I might have drank him empty if not for the feeling of his hands reaching down to my butt and pressing it against himself. A masculine scent hit my nose and soon was followed by a sweet one. It was a lot different smell than the disgusting sweet one from the previous night. Whatever that was last night was unpleasant and nothing compared to the different scent I smelled just now.

I moaned in pleasure before suddenly I was pushed away. Before I could complain or react in another way, I was picked up and only a millisecond later my back hit the softness of a mattress. Yibo was above me, his long fangs shining like diamonds as he looked down at me with the same ruby-like eyes as last night.

He looked like a beast and I was sure ordinary people would be scared, but I wasn't.

I shuddered when I heard a deep growl emitting from deep within him. A growl that had me feel excited. I pulled him down and bit the other side of his neck, ready to drink to my heart's content. I flinched slightly when I felt his fangs enter the skin of my neck as well and soon I felt so good and light, that I had to growl too.

Yibo's heavy body on top of mine made it only worse. Or maybe better was the correct word.

'Shit...' I thought as my whole body and mind were going crazy. I wrapped my arms and legs around Yibo and drank more greedily while hoping that time would stop right then and there.

'This...' I thought and moaned '... this was heaven!'

to be continued...

Oops, that escalated quickly ... *blush*

We love an aggressive Xiao Zhan, don't we?

He accepted his nature by now I would say. ^^
