Chapter 21: The Prime Minister's plans

As promised, the new chapter. For a moment I thought I couldn't keep my promised schedule. Puhh, thank god I managed to do it ^^

I hope you like this new chapter <3 <3

3rd POV

"Where have you been, darling?" The Prime Minister's first wife asked impatiently. "Were you able to talk to the King and Queen? No, forget the Queen. She won't ever agree anyway. How about the King? Could you finally make him understand the importance of our offer? What about that allegedly crown prince? Does he really exist?"

"Fill me a drink." The Prime Minister said and his wife did as ordered. She then sat down and waited for her husband to speak.

"The crown prince is real. And just as the Queen said, he is human. He is rather smart... and quite rude too... "

"I can't believe it!" The Wife jumped up in disbelief. "I mean, how could the King lay with someone else when we presented our daughter on a silver tray? And what? He chose a human!? There is no way a human is better than our little girl!"

"Calm down!" The Prime Minister massaged his forehead. "It doesn't matter if we offered our daughter or not. The crown prince was born 20 years ago."

"I don't care! How dare he chose a human over our daughter!? A human within the royal family... how could the King mix his pure blood with that of a human!?" The Wife asked annoyed and sat down again. "What happens to our daughter now, darling? She was so eager to fulfill her destiny. There is no one more suitable for her than the King!"

"Let me think...."

"I don't care about that crown prince. My daughter has to be Queen. That is her destiny. Let us send her to the King anyway. She becomes his, gives birth to his son, and in the future, our grandson shall take over the throne. I don't believe the King would give a half-human the throne when he can choose a pure-blooded vampire. Even if, we can just make our grandson take over the throne one way or the other. "

"How evil..." The wife looked up and saw that illegitimate son standing at the door frame. "You want Father to get rid of the crown prince? Don't you know that is treason?"

"Why would you care? All you care about is yourself and who warms your bed during the night."

"True." Cheng Yi smiled. "But what can I say? I am a man with needs and this little trait of mine runs within the family."

"You little-"

"Enough!" The Prime Minister growled and it was quiet right away.

"Father, I don't think sending my dear little sister to the King is a good idea." Cheng Yi said and smiled at the fuming wife. "It was a good plan. It truly was. But we are 20 years too late."

"You have no idea what you are talking about!" The wife hissed at him and turned to her husband.

"Darling, think about our daughter, hm? Think about her, no, think about our future. Only with our daughter being part of the royal family will our family shine brighter than now. She is fated to become Queen! She is more beautiful than any other woman and I am sure that no one, not even the King, will be able to resist her."

The wife reached for her husband and waited for the answer she wanted to hear.

"Let him think things through." Cheng Yi said and turned around to leave.

"I am sure Father will come up with an idea that will benefit our family. I shall retire for the night, Father. Good night."

The Prime Minister nodded and turned to his first wife. "You should go too. I have to think of a plan."

"Darling, in two or three days, our daughter will reach her prime. We have to hurry and-"

"I told you, I will think of something. Don't pressure me!"

"I am just worried...."

"You think I am not?" He growled. "Go back and let me think!"

She was about to say something again but then decided not to. It seemed he was already mad enough.

"Alright. I know you only want the best for our family. I am sorry for urging you. I shall return to our chamber first. Don't think too long."

"I will follow you shortly." The Prime Minister answered absentmindedly and his wife smiled brightly. It was been a while since they had shared the same bed and therefore she was pretty excited.

"I will wait for you. Good night, darling." With that she quickly ascended the stairs went back to their room, took a quick shower, and got dressed in her most alluring nightgown. After a quick look in the mirror, she went to bed and found the pose that complimented her figure the most.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister sat at his desk and tried to figure out what to do. Although it would be the fastest way to get rid of the crown prince, that was treason and if found out, his whole family will go down. Moreover, getting close to the prince would be more difficult than entering the palace during the night. Thinking about how he got caught by that royal guard was a mistake that shouldn't have happened.

They will surely investigate how he could enter and once they found the guard that was on his payroll, he had to look for someone else which would be everything but easy.

Suddenly the door opened. "Oh, I thought someone forgot to turn off the light. How come you are still awake at this late hour, honey?"

It was The Prime Minister's second wife who entered, leaving the door ajar.

"How can I sleep? Time is running out and nothing goes my way!"

The second wife approached him, walked around him, and placed her hands on his forehead, giving him the massage he desperately needed.

"Don't think like that. Although I don't know the details but I am sure you will come up with something. If you need any ideas, feel free to ask me."

"You don't even know the dilemma I am in and want to give me ideas?" He sighed.

"True, you would have to fill me in first.... but you don't have to. I am sure as smart as you are, you won't need any help."

"I am smart but even I am at my limits sometimes." The Prime Minister sighed once more and leaned back closer to his second wife so he could enjoy the head massage. For a moment it was quiet until he let out a third sigh.

"Hear me out and see if you can help me."

"I would love to." The second wife smiled and listened intensely while not once stopping massaging his head. Once he filled her in, an idea popped up in her head. One that would make their family enter the royal family, would benefit her daughter and would help her get back at the first wife. That woman would surely faint from anger.

"Honey, I do have an idea. It would help you to achieve your goals and dreams but I fear you, and especially your first wife won't be happy with it."

"Dedicate me." He asked and his second wife followed his wish.

It was like she said. It was a good idea but it went against his and his family's principles. For a moment he was rather mad that she even suggested such an idea but he had to admit it was the perfect solution. If he wasn't so obsessed with rules and his principles, he would have come up with the idea himself.

"I am sorry, honey. I know it goes against everything we believe in but it would be the first step into the royal family. And won't we kill two birds with one stone like this? Yang Mei will carry the future king, she will marry into the royal family and becomes Queen in the future. Everything you and especially your wife's hopes for, will happen."

The Prime Minister was quiet as he listened to her.

"And if that is not enough, we can still send another of your unmarried daughters into the royal palace. The King is but just a man. I am sure he too will give in to the beauty of a young lady, who is ready to pledge her life to him. Not even the Queen can do anything to prevent that. No matter what anyone says, a man, a king at that, having only one wife is ridiculous." She smiled and gently rubbed her husband's forehead.

"And who knows? Another prince might be born and I am sure even the King can't let that half-human take over the throne when there is a much better person to inherit it. Especially not if everyone is displeased with a half-human becoming King. Indeed, it is a rather difficult first step but one we have to go to achieve our goals."

The Prime Minister took his second wife's hands in his and stopped her from giving him a massage. His head complained but he ignored it.

"My love, what would I do without such a smart wife at my side."

She giggled. "You surely would have found another."

"I doubt it..." He smiled and pulled her into his lap. "Beautiful and smart. I love that."

"I have to admit I am a little smarter than most other women but I for sure can't compare to you, honey." She giggled more and then hissed when the Prime Minister dug his fangs into her neck.

"I didn't realize how hungry I was..." He murmured and pulled her even closer before starting to drink from her.

"Honey, she is probably w-waiting for you..." She stuttered knowing fully well that the first wife was waiting for him upstairs.

"That wife of mine wasn't able to help me, she doesn't deserve my attention right now. Her desires are coming true soon enough, all thanks to you. I am sure she won't mind me giving you a well-deserved reward."

The first wife waited and waited but her husband did not come so she took it upon herself to look for him. She barely made a step out of her room when she heard the reason for the Prime Minister's absence. She was fuming and stomped back to her room where she threw a fit.

"Bitch! Sooner or later I shall make you pay for that!!" She swore to herself.

The next morning, the first wife did not show anyone how angry and disappointed she was. No, she pretended as if nothing happened and when the Prime Minister called her into his office, she kept her head held high, ignoring the smirks a certain someone was throwing at her.

"You called for me, darling?"

"Get our daughter ready." The Prime Minister said as he sat down at his desk. The wife blinked a few times before realization hit her. She clapped her hands.

"Will she finally enter the palace?"

"She will. Tonight."

"Wonderful! But how did this happen? I mean, did the King finally agree?" She asked delightfully.

"Of course not. How could he change his mind overnight? Don't be ridiculous. I haven't seen him since the meeting several days ago anyway. The Queen is currently managing the court affairs."

"Then, why...?"

"She won't be attending the King. She shall meet the crown prince."

The wife couldn't believe her ears and looked at him in shock. "T-the crown prince? B-but.... He is human!!"

"Half of him, yes. I know that myself!"

"You know that and you still want her to be with him!? You want her to carry his child!? You want to mix the blood of our precious pure-blooded family with that of a human!?"

"He is a half-vampire!" The Prime Minister clarified strictly. "Yes, that he is partly human is disgusting but we can't change that, can we!?"

"I won't let my daughter mix with a human! Our family doesn't even drink from humans because it's disgusting and could ruin our lineage."

The Prime Minister got up. "She will wrap that crown prince around her finger and she will marry him. In the future, she shall become the Queen she is destined to be! That was what we planned from the beginning. She doesn't have to drink his blood."

"Yes, but it was supposed to be the King! A full vampire! Not some human!" She complained. "And what about Yang Mei? Do you think she will agree to mix her blood with a human? She will be equally disgusted."

"Do you want her to become Queen!?"

"I do! But-"

"Do you think there is someone else more suited to be Queen than Yang Mei?"

"Of course not!" She spatted. "But that doesn't change that the crown prince is half-human!"

"I will have Yang Mei enter the palace tonight. Get her ready."

"But-"

"I know! Do you think I like mixing our blood with some trash?" The Prime Minister growled as he stared at his main wife. "I don't!"

"Is there no other way? The King! We can send her into his chamber tonight. Yang Mei is so beautiful, he won't be able to resist her."

"No one saw the King since days. I don't even think he is in the palace. But even if, we tried to make him accept her numerous times but it didn't work. As much as I hate to say it, it didn't work!"

"My precious daughter... a half-human.... I-" The main wife shook her head.

"Listen, once Yang Mei became the queen, we can still get rid of that half-human King. She then can remarry someone who is much more suited to be with her and will have as many children as she can. She can live her life as the Queen until her half-human son took over the throne. Her son whom we raised. We can make him abdicate and transfer the title to one of his half-siblings, a true pure-blooded vampire. Once that happened, the royal family is in our hands. No, we are the royal family."

The Prime Minister grabbed her shoulders. "It's a long way until then but we have to suffer a little first before all our wishes come true. In the end, Yang Mei shall become Queen, our family becomes the royal family and we will make sure no disgusting humans will ever enter our kingdom."

The wife understood but just thinking of mixing their blood was making her shudder. "I am against it."

"You-"

"But!" She raised her voice. "I shall agree to it anyway. I want only the best for our family and especially our daughter. It's her right to become Queen."

"That is right, my love. We do it all for our family. I know you dislike the humans as much as I do, I know you would rather die than mix our blood with those creatures but I am proud that you know when to give in. This small sacrifice, which is not even a real one as we will get rid of both humans in the future, will bring glory and power to our family. And the crown prince is half-vampire anyway. I would never let our daughter mix with a pure human."

"I shall talk to Yang Mei now."

"Do that, my love. Make sure she understands. Make sure she knows that no matter what happens the title of Queen is save hers." He grinned widely and kissed his wife in encouragement. The wife giggled before making her way to her daughter's room.

On the floor her room was located were only female servants. Due to being in her prime, the hormones that are set free gave away a very sweet and rather addicting scent that can be smelled by every vampire, but especially by males. And the closer she got to her most fertile time, the stronger the scent gets. Therefore she had to stay behind closed doors and no males were allowed near her.

The main wife knocked at the door and entered the room, where her daughter stood at the window. She turned around to greet her mother.

"Mother." She smiled brightly.

"Yes, darling." She took her daughter in her arms. "You are so beautiful."

"That I am." Yang Mei giggled. "But Mother, you said you didn't like to visit because of the scent."

That was true. Being in her prime was no crime. It was something every woman was only waiting for to give birth to a life. As this happened only every 500 years. The main wife wasn't able to get pregnant for the last 1500 years, only because the Prime Minister was seduced by the second wife every time and didn't give the main wife any attention. Therefore, she didn't like that scent, making her remember that although she was the first wife, she was not the most favored one.

"So, if you still come in then... " Yang Mei's eyes sparkled. "Am I finally meeting the King!?"

"Darling, this-"

"Finally!" She run to her closet to look for the dress she had brought especially for her meeting with the King. It was a white see-through dress that barely covered half of her upper leg. It includes a set of white underwear made of satin and with ruffles. She put it on her bed and turned back to her mother.

"Am I going right away? But I still have to take a bath. Servant! Let in a bath and bring me the roses. Bring me the expensive coconut shampoo and don't forget the rose oil for my body. Which jewelry should I wear....?"

The wife raised her hand to stop the servant who was about to follow Yang Mei's orders.

"You still have time until tonight. But darling, we need to talk."

Yang Mei tilted her head and waited for her mother to speak. "Leave us alone for a moment." The servant bowed and left.

"Why so secretive?" Her daughter asked amused and took a seat next to her mother.

"There was a change of plans." The wife started to fill her daughter into the Prime Minister's plans and, of course, Yang Mei was everything but happy. She threw a fit.

"Mother! He is human! I won't mingle with him! How could Father even think of letting me share a bed with a human!? That is disgusting! Mother, do something. I was promised to be with the King! I am the future Queen!"

"Darling, you will still be Queen-"

"I want to be the King's Queen! Not that of that human! I won't do it! I want to be with the King! No one can compare to him. Mother, it has to be the King, not some human!"

The wife frowned and raised her hands. "The crown prince is half a vampire and not fully human."

"But-"

"Listen, my darling. I know it was supposed to be the King but we are out of time. If the crown prince wouldn't have shown up, your father would have definitely found a way for you to enter the palace and be with the King. But that half-human thwarted our plan. We can't wait any longer. You are in your prime now. Now is the perfect time for you to enter the royal family and give birth to a child. Do think your father wants to wait another 500 years?"

"Mother, be honest. Father would never agree to mix our blood with that of a human which I agree! How could he come up with such a solution? Does he want me to ruin our lineage?"

The wife huffed. "I am pretty sure it was not his idea. That bitch must have planted it in your father's head last night. Now, time is running out and your father is getting desperate. That bitch used her chance and made him agree to send you into the crown prince's bed." She spat and then grinned.

"Do you think this is funny, Mother!?"

"Of course not! But I reckon that you are an obstacle in that bitch's plans. She always tried to send her daughter to the King as well and with you out of the way, she probably thinks her daughter has a chance now."

The wife turned to her daughter. "But she is wrong."

"Wrong?" Yang Mei looked at her mother in disbelief. "How!? I have to be with a human, Mother!"

"I know but it doesn't matter. Think about it, darling. Even if you are sent to the crown prince, the fact that you already entered the palace won't change. There are so many possibilities." She clasped her hand.

"You will marry the crown prince and give birth to his child. You will become the queen one day and then we can still get rid of that half-human husband of yours. Who knows if he will survive his transformation anyway? You can remarry someone who is much more suited to be at your side and once you gave birth to a son, that child will take over the throne. That half-breed child of yours will be unimportant."

"And if I give birth to a girl instead of a boy?" Yang Mei wanted to know.

"Gender doesn't matter. What matters is that you are part of the royal family and live in the palace. All you have to concentrate on is to seduce the King and, as beautiful as you are, he won't be able to resist you. No one can. All you have to do is to give birth to the King's son. Once he was born, no one would agree to the half-breed inheriting the title of the King. Even the Queen won't. She also won't be able to change the King's mind if he insists to depose her and make you his new Queen."

The wife smiled and caressed her daughter's cheeks. "You, my darling, are fated to become Queen. The only Queen. It doesn't matter if it happens by marrying the half-breed or becoming the King's concubine first."

"Mother, do you think the King would still want me even after 500 years?"

"Of course! What kind of question is that? I do know that it's going to be a long time until you will be able to conceive the King's child but in the meantime, you just have to make sure he won't ever lay his eyes on someone else. Not even the Queen."

Yang Mai let the words of her mother sinks in. She was still disgusted about sharing the bed with a half-breed but it was indeed only the first step to becoming the beloved Queen of the King. And she was confident to make the King his. She was beautiful, alluring even. She had many admirers who even proposed to her. She felt happy but of course, simple lords were not the perfect match for her. Only the King was.

Remembering how her older sister was able to conceive the child of the Arabian King and become his concubine was making her jealous beyond belief. It was obvious that she had a good chance to become the new Arabian Queen one day and Yang Mei hoped she would be crowned Queen sooner than her.

"That bitch will probably try everything to send her daughter into the palace. She might even use you as a stepping stone so the first thing you do after you entered the place is to make the crown prince as well as the King believe you are getting bullied by the second wife and her children. Ask them to never let them enter the palace."

"And... I really have to mingle with that half-breed?"

"Yang Mei, I know how you feel. Believe me, I feel the same. But you don't have to think much about it. Sharing a bed with him won't be much different than sharing one with the King. The only problem is that the child will be a half-breed too but, as I already explained, its existence doesn't matter."

Yang Mei was feeling upset but knew her mother was right. It shouldn't be much of a difference if she shared a bed with a human or a vampire. Actually, wasn't it even a good thing that she could start by testing the waters with the crown prince? It was her first time after all and she was slightly scared of it. A human wasn't nearly as strong as a vampire. Which also meant that she could be the one in control.

"Mother." She looked at her eyes. "I won't drink his blood no matter what. That is disgusting! It's enough I have to have his child, I don't need to have his blood in my system."

The wife frowned. "Of course, you are right. Albeit you will probably be tempted to drink from him, don't. Our blood is pure, not one drop of human blood has ever mingled with ours. And we won't change that now."

Yang Mei nodded and looked at the dress she prepared. "I will make the crown prince mine. It won't be difficult."

The wife smiled and got up. "Of course, it won't. Remember, although he is half-human, he is half-vampire too. He won't be able to resist the scent of your hormones."

"Is it that scent so amazing?" Yang Mei asked curiously.

"It surely is. If a man has no control he won't ever be able to resist that scent. That is why it was so easy for those women to seduce your father and marry into our family! Or why do you think only pregnant women knocked at our door?" She gritted her teeth.

"Father has a lot of control, Mother. I doubt he let himself be seduced against his will. Cunning as he is, he deliberately chose women in their prime and let them seduce him to conceive his children. He needs more children to expand our family and for us to become even more powerful."

"I forgot how smart you are." The wife smiled. "Indeed. He doesn't care much about anything else than gaining power. But enough of that. Tonight, you will understand why being in our prime is amazing." She turned to walk to the door.

"Now, you have the whole day to get ready. Tonight shall be the first step into making you the Queen. Get ready for it. Servants!" She yelled and soon maids approached.

"My daughter is to enter the palace tonight. Make sure to make her look like a Queen!"

"Yes, mistress."

Xiao Zhan's POV

I tore my eyes open and sat up instantly. I was sweating and it was rather hot in the room, making me so thirsty that my throat hurt. I left my room and entered the bathroom to drink from the water tap. I drank a lot. I wasn't much of a fan of water as it tasted like nothing but this time I didn't care much and drank what feels like 2 liters, maybe even more.

I drank until my stomach started to hurt, only then did I stop. My throat felt better now however I was still thirsty. I shook my head and looked into the mirror, noticing I was rather pale.

"Great... now I am getting sick too..." I mumbled and turned to leave only to almost get a heart attack seeing Yibo standing at the door.

"Fuck! Can you please stop doing that!? For god's sake!" I hissed at him.

"Are you okay?" He didn't even bother to answer me.

"What do you think!?" I snapped at him and he rose his brows.

"Bad mood huh?" He looked at the still-running water tap. "Rich or not, you shouldn't waste money. Would you please turn that off?"

I rolled my eyes at him before turning around, turning it off, and turning back to him. "Happy now!?"

"Had a bad dream? Why are you so snippy this early in the morning?"

"It's all your fault!" I growled before passing him and leaving for my room.

"What did I do?"

"Let me be!" I returned to my room, closed the door, and took a deep breath. Yibo was right, not only was I in a bad mood ever since opening my eyes, but my dream wasn't all too pleasant either.

Watching Yibo drink from someone isn't something I would like to dream about. And Jesus, if my dream was accurate, then Yibo was weak as hell. Getting horny by drinking just for a few seconds...

Having wet dreams was normal but usually you would have them with you being the lead actor, not someone else. I shook my head, trying to get rid of these pictures. I couldn't believe it. Yes, I did see Yibo naked but I was sure as hell I did not see his front. How come I could dream about it?

Thank god I woke before he could satisfy his need completely. Damn, dream!

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. "Your Highness, I will take a quick shower. You should get ready too. Afterward, we will go to breakfast."

I stared at the door. "Why telling me that you take a shower? I don't need unnecessary information!" I complained, the pictures of Yibo back in my head.

It was quiet for a moment. "Why are you so sensitive all of a sudden? You even saw me taking a shower."

"I didn't!"

"Yes, you did. Back in the Human Worlds at your friend's house."

"That was because you pulled me into the bathroom!" I almost yelled. "What is your problem!? Go take a shower! And stop making me even more mad!"

"It is not my fault." He chuckled and I heard his footsteps leaving.

"If not yours, then whose!?" I growled but only heard how Yibo closes his door.

I jumped up and ran up and down the room. I was so annoyed and it annoyed me even more that I didn't know the reason for that. But it didn't help running up and down so I opened the closet and took out boxer shorts, a pair of jeans, a shirt, and socks before returning to the bathroom to take a shower. After I was done and dressed, I felt a little better and left the bathroom after drinking some more water.

"Are you done?"

"Can't you see it?"

He let out a chuckle and turned to leave.

"What are you grinning for!?"

"I like it when you are so snippy." He answered and opened the door leading to the hall. "Let's go."

I was about to give him my opinion but my stomach stopped me by growling loudly. "Think yourself as lucky..." I mumbled and passed him. I was about to knock on Haoxuan's door when Yibo stopped me.

"He went ahead."

"Traitor... leaving me alone again..." I looked at Ji Yang's door. "Him?"

"Leo picked him up and they left for breakfast as well."

I let out a sigh and continued my way toward where I thought to remember the dining room should be. We did not meet anyone at all and for a moment I thought this palace was empty when I heard faint footsteps above and beneath us.

"By order of Her Majesty, no servant or guards except Leo are allowed anywhere near this floor. The only people allowed to be here are you, your friend, Mr. Song, Leo, Her Majesty, Bowen, and me because I live here. Well, His Majesty is also allowed to be here but-"

"He plays hide and seek, I know. Don't think I will look for him. That is not my job." I said and Yibo sighed.

"Sooner or later, Your Highness will meet him."

"Not I will be the one meeting him, it will be him meeting me," I answered and continued my way until Yibo gently took hold of my shoulder.

"Not that way, your Highness, this way." He pointed to the right.

"Ah, okay." I turned to the left, feeling rather annoyed. We passed a lot of rooms and when we were about to turn the corner I heard a female voice.

"I knew the ministers were a lot to handle but they behave like children you have to take by the hand. Especially the Prime Minister. He is like the school bully who can't be happy if he doesn't make our lives as miserable as he can."

"Your Majesty..."

"Come on, Bowen. You know I am right. But don't worry. It is quite amusing to annoy these people in my own way."

I stopped instantly when I realized the Queen's voice is coming closer. Remembering my rather embarrassing encounter with her the previous night, I had the urge to flee and hide.

"What is wrong?" Yibo asked worriedly but I ignored him and tried to look for a hiding spot.

"Being a Queen is sometimes very tiresome and boring so it is only fair that I can have some fun now and then."

I panicked and decided to open the closest door which led to a cleaning room. I grabbed Yibo and pushed him inside before closing the door behind me. I didn't bother turning on the lights.

"What the-?" Yibo exclaimed. "What is wrong?"

"Psst!" I hushed him and tried to hear what was happening outside. Sure, what I did might have been embarrassing but definitely not as embarrassing as meeting the Queen. After our conversation last night, I would like to not meet her anytime soon. Too bad I forgot about her presence during the breakfast.

"What are you doing?" Yibo asked confused.

"I won't go to breakfast. Just... bring me the food to my room."

"Can it be that Your Highness is avoiding Her Majesty? For what purpose?"

I ignored him and listened to the sound of footsteps as well as the Queen's voice which came closer.

"Are there waffles today?" I heard the Queen asking.

"The cook always only prepares your favorites, your Majesty." It was the butler's voice.

"I shall believe you if a fruit salad is on the table." She giggled and I froze.

"Do you think that is necessary? Stop being childish and-" Yibo was so loud that I jumped up in shock. I turned to him and covered his mouth with my hands. I caught him by surprise and the both of us fell to the floor. Luckily we hadn't knocked anything over except ourselves and so I pressed my hand on his lips and eavesdropped on what happened outside.

"What was that?" The Queen asked and I knew she must stand right in front of the door. "What are the servants doing?"

"It can't be the servant's, Your Majesty. None of them are on this floor. I shall check-"

"No need. I am hungry, let's go. Is Xiao Zhan already in the dining room?"

"I have yet to see His Highness."

"Oh... well, I am sure he will present us with his presence soon enough. I really hope he will eat something today. I don't want to burden Yibo more by letting him play the foot tester. But after our conversation last night, I am sure it won't be necessary anymore. But then again, Xiao Zhan is Luo Jin's son after all. I bet he inherited his stubbornness."

"Your Majesty, I don't think-"

"I was just kidding. I doubt there is someone out there who is as stubborn as the King." The Queen giggled and I heard the sounds of footsteps getting faint.

"Your Majesty, you shouldn't talk ill about His Majesty."

"Maybe, but I will do so anyway. He doesn't mind. I mean, he is....." Once I couldn't hear her anymore I let out a long sigh and relaxed.

"That was close..." I mumbled and turned to Yibo. Not knowing how it happened, he was laying on the ground while I was laying on top of him. It was embarrassing. For unknown reasons, I tend to get myself in many embarrassing moments these days.

Seeing how Yibo's ears turned pink at first but became redder the longer I stared at him, I looked at my hand which was still preventing him from making any sounds. I quickly took my hand away and jumped up, letting Yibo breathe again.

'Shit... he almost suffocated because of me...'

"Sorry about that. Who told you to lay on the floor..."

Yibo slowly got up, his ears still red. He cleared his voice. "You pushed me, your Highness."

Okay, now I had enough. "Why do you keep calling me Your Highness?"

"You said you wanted me to treat you with respect and I figured out, you were right."

"Wha-? You figured out I was right? Well, congratulations but I don't like it when you call me like this. Call me Xiao Zhan."

"You wanted-"

"Yes, and I still do. But..." I was a little confused. "I just don't like it when you call me Your Highness. Can't you treat me with respect while calling me by my name?"

Yibo cleared his voice again and I saw that his ears went from red to pink. "I shall do so, Xiao Zhan."

It strangely irritated me when he treated me so politely all of a sudden. I did want him to do that but ... I think I changed my mind.

"By the way, I did not push you."

"Yes, you did."

"There is no way I could push someone as strong as you until you fell on the ground. Unless you are-" I didn't finish my sentence, knowing he hated to be called weak.

"You were rather panicked just now for whatever reason and unknowingly used immense strength. For a not yet transformed vampire, a half-one at that, you are stronger than expected. I am sure once you learned to control your strength, you would be able to beat up quite a few of my guards." He said and nodded his head with a smile.

"I am not-! Argh, whatever. Let's go back."

"Back? What about breakfast?"

"I would rather not have it. I mean, I am not very hungry."

"Does it have something to do with our last encounter with Her Majesty?"

"What? No! Of course not. I am just-"

"You do know that I know when you lie, right? Moreover, it is pretty obvious to me that you are avoiding Her Majesty."

"Fine, I avoid her. So what?" I was surprised that I gave in so quickly.

Yibo chuckled. "There is no need. No one will reprimand you of anything, the least Her Majesty. Moreover, if you start to avoid her, which I am pretty sure she already knows, she will start chasing you until you face her. Her Majesty can be rather stubborn too. Not only His Majesty."

I looked at him in shock and Yibo laughed. It was real laugh that shocked me more than being found out. I have never heard him laugh so loudly and heartily.

"Her Majesty has a top hearing, Xiao Zhan. Everyone here has it. I am sure she already heard us when we left our room. She just wanted to not make you feel even more embarrassed by barging in here and asking you why you are hiding."

I blinked and suddenly felt like I wanted to hide in my bed.

"Now stop feeling shy and let's go eat." Yibo opened the door and gently shove me out of the room.

"Did... did she hear our conversation too?"

"You mean just now? Unless she wants to spy on you, she didn't. We can control our hearing so we won't get bombarded with millions of sounds." He said as he shoved me towards the dining room.

When we entered my eyes found that of the Queen and seeing how she instantly looked away I frowned.

"You did spy on me, didn't you?" I accused her and I saw her blushing slightly.

"Xiao Zhan..." Yibo called me in a reprimanding way, telling me off for my tone to the Queen.

"To my defense, you hid from me, Xiao Zhan. I was just worried and wanted to know what was up." She smiled innocently. "By the way, I might be a little stubborn but not as much as His Majesty, Yibo. Come on you two, sit down. There is so much to eat. Do you want Yibo to test your food beforehand?"

I felt all eyes on me. Even Haoxuan looked at me confused with a mouth full of toast.

"No need..." I mumbled and sat down with Yibo next to me.

"Great!" The Queen beamed and pointed at the food. "Let's start. Well, it seems our Haoxuan already did. You seem pretty hungry since yesterday."

Haoxuan, who didn't want to speak with a full mouth, just nodded with a grin. I saw Ji Yang glaring at Haoxuan for his impolite way of treating the Queen. But I am sure he did so mostly because he couldn't stand him. He never looked at me when I spoke to her with no manners. Leo didn't care about anything that was spoken as he was too busy filling his plate with a lot of fruits.

"Stop staring and eat," Yibo said and I put a few pancakes on my plate. I was about to eat when...

"So, why did you hide from me?" The Queen asked innocently and frowned.

"You know why! You heard our conversion."

"True, I did. It was a rather normal one, to be honest, and I also heard you demonstrated your strength, but ... Yibo, there is no need to be embarrassed. Our Xiao Zhan is slowly realizing his powers and potential. He will probably have difficulties in the future but if you guide him well, I am sure he will turn out perfectly fine."

I looked at Yibo but I saw no change in his facial features.

"Look at his ears, Xiao Zhan. If they turn pink it means he is embarrassed." The Queen giggled and I saw Yibo's ears turning pinker.

I nodded. "And what if they turn deep red?"

The Queen let down her cutlery and looked at me with wide eyes. "I have never seen his eyes turn deep red." She looked at Yibo who seemed to not like the attention he got.

"I am a curious woman, Yibo, so please don't mind me if I as what happened in the room earlier for your eyes to get red?"

Yibo took a bite from his sandwich and the Queen sighed. "If he starts eating it means he doesn't want to talk."

"You seem to know him well..." I pointed out and when I felt Yibo's gaze on me I quickly used honorifics. ".. your Majesty."

The Queen chuckled. "I do know him since he was a child. If there is something you would like to know, feel free to ask me. Although I do not know everything. Take the fact about his ears turning red as an example."

I noticed Yibo's ears turned even pinker. I couldn't help but snort.

"Enough now, Xiao Zhan." The Queen said. "If we keep this act up, Yibo might run out of the room and I can't let that happen if his stomach is not properly filled. The same goes for you."

"I thought he can't leave my side?" I asked and the Queen laughed.

"He is not allowed to, no. He is to protect you after all. Right, dear Yibo?"

Yibo took another bite from his sandwich making me grin. I decided to watch Yibo's behavior more closely from now on. Maybe soon I would be able to know as much as the Queen did.

I filled my plate with more pancakes before I started to dig in. I didn't realize how hungry I was.
