THINGS WERE NOT going well on their end. The attack came like a sudden explosion, racking the palace walls and putting everyone in it in a state of chaos and confusion. Normally, the attackers shouldn't be able to get in considering there was a protective spell on each if the realms. Now thinking of it, they had entered freely into Corey's palace as well and it was odd. There was definitely an inside worker. A betrayer.

Like a flashing thought,Charles existence came to Calvin's mind. Charles was still in the dungeons! But Calvin reasoned he couldn't possibly have mind linked Luciana or anyone because a few days after their arrival in Fae, the crew men alerted him that Charles had gone delirious in the cells. Screaming and spitting curses at no one in particular. A few days later,he passed.

However his daughter was still alive, his heir apparent and Calvin was certain he had passed on some things to her. It was obvious she wanted revenge.

The creatures came in hundreds if not thousands, swarming the palace and covering the whole place with a thick black cloud. It was quite saddening to know they had made a new enemy,a quite powerful lass. She was under the protection of Luciana for a huge price. Her soul.

She had sold her soul to Luciana in exchange for the dark magic and suffocating aura. The dark monsters that caused chaos were huge and surprisingly very agile. However, they dissipated with the slightest pierce to any part of the body. Luciana's magic was much stronger than this due to years of practice and determination...with a sprinkle of evil.

Calvin calculated that if they left this lass grow into a teenager, she would cause a lot of problems. Dark magic wasn't easy at all.

A scream broke his train of thoughts and drew his attention towards Kadja. His heart dropped, they were capturing her. His magic was powerless against dark magic.

Corey was nowhere to be found, Kira passed out, Kellyn and Cal desperately fighting as well as the trolls and Fae. The worst part was that nobody knew Luciana's base, nobody could tell where she was.

The beasts kept trooping in at a faster rate and Calvin headed towards where kadja was swarmed by the monsters. The ones surrounding her looked stronger and had a little resemblance to lissers.  Luciana sent these ones personally to capture her rebel sister.

"No don't come any closer! They'll kill you and you'll die sooner than i expected. I can't let you die again" age said desperately, tears brimming in her eyes.

"Again? What are you even saying?" He asked perplexed.

"Call the queen. She's strong enough. Go!" She hurried and Calvin ran up the spiral of steps leading to the queen's chambers. She should know about the current situation shouldn't she?

As he got to her chambers, he knocked shakily on her door and after a while she opened it. For the first time, the queen didn't look so perfect. She had bags under her delicate eyes and her shoulders sagged. Her hair was packed in a messy bun and her face looked dull. She really was sick.

"Mother-"

"I was thinking you'd never call me that again. I thought you were angry at me for not letting you know sooner that you're my son"

"That slipped out accidentally" Calvin's jaw ticked and he looked away from her "You rejected me, you're not my mother"

She threw back her head and a sonorous laughter flew from her lips.

"You were weak. I needed strong heirs  like your older sisters."

"I need your help. The palace is-"

"Under an attack, i know. I was just heading out to join the party"

"Help us. Please. Corey isn't here and Kira passed out"

"It's as easy as hocus pocus." She waved her hands and a blinding light like the sun enveloped the whole place. 2 seconds was all it took abd when Calvin bent over the balcony to look down, the whole place was mopped up of the monsters, all gone. Only the Fae, trolls and warriors remained. Fascinating.

The queen doubled over, coughing up thick yellow blood. However Calvin didn't stay to catch her fall, he had run down to check on Kadja. She wasn't there.

An empty feeling filled his chest and he knew that they had taken her. Her purple orbs flashed in his  head and he cried. He had grown so attached to her in these few weeks.

He remembered what the queen had told him the day she revealed the truth about her being his mother.

I can't believe I birthed a reincarnation. A very weak one at that, he's nothing like his original! Lucifer must've given me a desperate soul.

What did that mean?

What did she mean back then?

The warriors had began to clean up the place, the injured ones seeking help from Raekav. Kellyn stood beside Cal, both looked like they were having a deep conversation and from the wild gestures Kellyn did with her hands, Calvin could only assume it was an argument.

"You both are here having some cute argument when Kadja is gone? Have you any idea what this means? She was literally the key to finding her sister and now she's gone!" Calvin said irritated at the two. At this point, he needed someone to vent out his anger on.

"Look I understand your pain but if we work together,  we can still win this"

"We can win nothing! Our key to finding Luciana is gone, the girls are horrible at using their weapons, the attacks keep hitting closer each time, the protective barrier is useless, I still don't know how to defeat dark magic and don't forget, the last time we fought the Lissers, we couldn't defeat them. We had to get help from an unknown source. You really think we could win this? We're going up against a whole army of lissers; what happens then? These things that just fought us will be there too. Let us accept defeat"

"Never knew you were a coward. Our best thinker but really, you should chill out." Kellyn scowled "Don't you think we're all scared? Yet we don't openly give up like you just did. Corey is working on something. Soon, we will find Luciana's base"

Calvin's ears perked up "He is? Since when?"

"We don't want the queen to know yet. You've been so busy worrying that you didn't notice what's been going on around you. Didn't you notice Kira's memories involving Corey were wiped at the sacred grounds? If what Kadja told us is true then we have bigger things to worry about; the queen herself"

Calvin sucked in a breath. The queen had been acting off

"The only ones we can trust are ourselves now. I remember everything but if I tell Kira about shit she's going to blow the whole thing up. Her emotions will get the better of her so for now let's leave her in the dark till she's ready" Kellyn continued

"Luciana would never kill her sister. In fact, she needs her. Kadja's forbidden magic is her ability to used corpses at her will and Luciana wants that." Cal butted in

"If things go well, Corey should be able to collect the power from her soon since he's the rightful owner but if he does now,  the queen will know and we aren't sure whether she can be trusted"

"Wait what do you mean he's the rightful owner of that power?"

"Don't you know? Corey is the he-"

"Don't! Not now, not here; too many listening ears" Kellyn warned and Cal nodded in agreement.

"When the time is right, you will know. Kira is doing  pretty good too and Kellyn here seems to be getting a hang of controlling the beasts with her mind control." Cal said.

Calvin went blank. His friends had really been working hard all this while whereas all he did was worry and fret.

Luciana wouldn't know what hit her.

With one last glance at the two, Calvin decided to retreat to his room.  He desperately hung on to the words Cal said; Luciana wouldn't kill her sister. She just couldn't,or she would have a formidable enemy after her life.

Calvin wasn't sure why, but he shared a bond with Kadja one that felt strange and deeply entwined. Reluctantly he decided to pay the queen another visit in her chambers. He retraced his steps back to her room, briefly noting that the blood that had soaked into the rug earlier had been scrubbed off. A maid probably.

After the third knock, a maid opened the door, not just a maid; Raekav.

"She's not in the right state to see anyone. She's really weak now"

"Tell her it's Calvin"

"Like that will make any difference-"

"Let him in" came the queen's order, her voice hoarse. Rae snarled at Calvin before stepping aside to let him in.

"Excuse us"

As soon as she shut the door behind her, Calvin turned his full attention towards the queen; his mother. Now more than ever, she looked really weak.

"Make me remember" he gritted

"Hm?" She raised an eyebrow at him and an uncertain look curtained her eyes.

"Make me remember my past live or lives. I gathered I'm a reincarnate, I want to know my original self"

"Are you sure child?"

"Yes and don't call me that. I know you have some control over memory manipulation and bringing back memories as well as changing or wiping them. Give me mine"

"Very well. Come"

And so Calvin took the first step to learning more about his past.
