CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
I WOKE UP with a jolt before rushing to the chamber pot at the far corner of the room and emptying the contents of my stomach. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead and my whole body felt hot. I took my time to inspect the room and realised this wasn't my cabin. The cinnamon scent that hung heavy in the air was enough affirmation I needed. The room had very dull colours but looked majestic in every possible way.
My hand went up to my forehead where I felt a bandage. Agonizingly, the events that happened rushed into my head as a violent wave rocked the ship. I remember hitting my forehead against the wall before I passed out and I was surprised the lisser hadn't done any damage to me. My skin looked soft and smooth, no injuries, nothing! Heavy footsteps approached the door and I twisted towards it in fear. I didn't know what the situation was and if lissers were still present, I would want to have a fair chance at killing them. With that thought in mind, I reached for my sword but my hand came in contact with soft silky material. I looked down and realised I was dressed in a nightwear. Damn it!
Chirrietta! I hissed in alarm just as the door knob twisted but I couldn't feel her presence around me. The damn lock!
Just as the intruder stepped in, I threw a pillow at it yelling my battle cry like a maniac. Honeyed laughter danced into my ears.
"Really? That would be your defense?" Calvin mocked with a playful smirk on his lips.
On seeing him, I ran towards him, melting into his embrace. I had missed him so much.
"Woah you must have really missed me. You've been out for six days. Rae refused to heal you, she kept yapping about some deal she made with you so we had to leave you to recover by yourself. Kadja sensed you were awake so she sent me to check on you" He explained, his green eyes twinkled.
A snarl covered my features when I heard the name of that damn witch. That seductress and traitor.
"She didn't betray us kira. She's completely cut off from her evil sister just relax"
"What about the lissers?" I asked hurriedly in an attempt to change the subject.
"They were here for Charles of course but we defeated them. Well not actually us, something strange happened. Lightning struck them all at the same time and they fell to the ground as ashes. It was terrifying. Kadja has looked into the case and we have concluded that we got help from above. That aura was too strong" he explained expertly.
Nerd.
But I knew what it was. That thing came from me but I was too scared to say a word so I just nodded at him.
"What of kellyn?" I asked tentatively
"She's doing great. A few scratches here and there but she's all good. You should change and come on deck soon. We're on the outskirts of Fae now. Soon, we'll be in your mother's palace."
My eyes flickered to the door briefly before I decided to do as Calvin said. The walk back to my room was silent and thankfully, the crew men weren't on the corridors. I wouldn't want them to see me like this. I slipped into the bathroom and scrubbed myself clean before wearing my signature leather pants and black vest with heavy boots. I combed through my hair and packed it in a neat bun. I noted that I looked very beautiful today. Advantages of a good rest I guess.
I walked in confident strides towards the deck. I could hear the familiar voices of my sister, Cal and Corey discussing about something. It brought a smile to my face. When I stepped out, I noticed they stood together, forming a loose circle. They laughed about something and a wide smile broke out on Corey's face.
They looked so close. Like they had known themselves for a long period.
My steps faltered a bit, I didn't fit in here. At that moment, I felt so cut off from them, from everyone. Kellyn had always been the jovial one, she made people always want to be around her and she could crack up any one. While I on the other hand was just me, plain and boring.
It didn't help either that when they saw me, their spines went rigid and the laughter died down. What? was I that hideous?
I turned away from the group and walked to the opposite side. I decided to admire the surroundings to take my mind off what just happened. Maybe I wasn't born to fit in, maybe I was born to be the odd one.
The clouds bloomed a majestic gold and even the water had pixie dust in it. The water wasn't so dense and you could see beautiful sea creatures moving around in the water. They were of various warm colours and I felt like reaching in to touch them. The ship was almost at the shore and from where I stood, I could see the bright shade of green that covered Fae. I could see eagles and doves above me, whistling happy tunes and a pretty fairy landed on my nose.
It was small, I noted. Unlike what I thought, it's features very much resembled that of a human but it had beautiful blue wings and its blonde hair looked shaggy. It's feet were bare and some pixie dust from its wings landed on my nose.
"Hello little one. Who are you?" I cooed
"My name is Yasmin and I'm your personal fairy till you die. Its not my obligation or anything but my soul has chosen yours and aren't you such a cutie?" It replied.
Surprisingly, it's voice wasn't tiny, it came out bold and clear. It's explanation baffled me but I accepted it anyway. I watched as it sat on my shoulder, still fluttering it's wings and bathing my back with pixie dust.
The ship came to a halt and praises of trolls resounded in the air. They hooted and danced happily and warmth filled my chest.
"Our princesses have returned. Long live the goddesses" They chanted over and over again. Some used musical pipes, harps, flutes and even drums. As soon as we stepped down from the ship, the music stopped and they went down on one knee, heads bowed.
"Wow" my sister said in awe and I had to agree with her. Wow indeed.
The place was nature filled and I felt my power stir in me. Chirrietta was once again by my side, moving with me.
"This way" my fairy said before fluttering her wings and leading us. We followed her quietly, each of us taking in the beautiful surrounding as much as we could. She suddenly halted in front of a huge leaf. This leaf was spread out like a carpet and my eyes almost popped out of my eye sockets as I took in its size.
"Please get on it" Yasmin said politely and we did as she said.
Much to my surprise, the leaf went up in the air and navigated its way to where I assume to be my mother's palace. Chirrietta steadied its movement and I looked forward afraid to glance at how high we were off the ground. My sister let out an excited whoop and Cal laughed fondly. The crew men were still back at the ship.
The palace finally came to view and I had to stop myself from screaming in shock. It had to be more than thrice the size of Corey's. I was terrified.
This was my home.
It was painted cream and trees surrounded it. Its stone walls looked a bit worn out and it had animal sculptures littered around the walls. The leaf landed easily and we stepped off it still taking out time to look around the palace.
"Welcome" A voice said from the door and I released a gasp. I would know this voice anywhere.
"Mrs hale!!" My sister and I shouted in unison and she chuckled.
"Oh my babies. You've grown so much. I'm sorry for lying to you but I'm sure you understand the reason"
We nodded at her happily. Her black locks and purple eyes were still present. She was tall and had a strong slender build.
"Look how big you are now. I remember when kira had peanuts as breasts" She said in her weird accent and my sister broke out in peals of laughter while my cheeks turned into a bright shade of red. Raekav snickered behind me too and I wondered why the ground never thought of swallowing people at their embarrassing moments.
"I can see you never got a tan" Sie said sounding pleased before bursting out in laughter once again. Of course with my sister.
Don't ask me! I still don't know what is funny about that.
"Oh? Can I join in on the fun a bit?" A silvery voice sounded behind Sie and my breath stopped. Mother.
Sie stepped away and revealed the face of my mother to us. Her beauty knocked me out of breath.
A Queen indeed!.
