Chapter 9: {The Wizard}
The boys trudged through the remaining stretch of forest.
"Still can't believe you left us to beat that bitch on our own, shitty hair."Katsuki grumbled.
"Hey, it's not my fault that the flowers are poisonous!"Kirishima replied jokingly.
"Hey, Deku?" Bakugou yelled. They had lost sight of the green-haired boy after he had ran ahead of them.
No answer.
"Uh...Midoriya?" Eijirou called.
Bakugou cursed.
"Shit. He probably got himself captured or something. Come on!" He made a beeline towards the trees ahead of them, and the redhead followed.
They burst out of the jungle, and a blast of cold air hit the two's faces.
"Whoa, it's not humid anymore!" Kirishima noted.
They were standing on an outcropping of rock that jutted out of the trees behind them.
Izuku was standing at the edge.
"Deku, what-Oh..." Katsuki walked up to the greenette, standing beside him.
Kirishima frowned, confused.
"What are you guys looking at?" The redhead went to stand next to them.
The outcrop overlooked a stunning stone castle. It rose sky-high and was a weathered gray color.
It exuded not menace, but rather loneliness, like no one had been there in quite a while.
"Whoa..."
"Yeah."
"That must be the wizard's place." Izuku spoke.
"Sweet crib!" Kirishima grinned.
"Yeah, but how the fuck are we supposed to get down there?" Katsuki asked. "We're about fifty feet off the ground."
well Katsuki
KIRISHIMA IS A FUCKING DRAGON
"I think you forgot that I can fly." Eijirou deadpanned.
Bakugou turned red. "Yeah. Whatever."
Kirishima transformed into dragon form, and the other two hopped on for a quick flight down.
Once they reached the ground, he transformed back.
"This thing is really big..." Izuku looked up and down.
"Psh. It's not as big as my castle." Bakugou bragged.
"You have a castle!?"
"Yeah, he does. But it isn't as big as this one. Something this huge and old has to be maintained by magic, or it would've fallen apart by now." Kirishima explained, nudging the blonde.
"Shut the fuck up." Bakugou grumbled, miffed.
Izuku raised his fist and knocked cautiously on the huge wooden door, making a booming sound.
A few moments passed, and then the door flew open.
A very strange-looking man bounded out.
He was blonde with long hair slicked up into a sort of tail on the back of his head, like a feather on an exotic bird.
The man wore orange sunglasses and a black leather jacket with a white shirt underneath.
"YEAAAAH!" the man yelled at an inhuman level of sound.
The three covered their ears and grimaced.
When the noise died down, the man grinned.
"Hey, brave adventurers!"
Bakugou uncovered his ears.
"Is this the wizard? Cause I'm going to smash his fucking head in."he growled.
"Me? Goodness, no! I'm Present Mic, the wizard's aide, but you can call me Yamada." he excitedly introduced himself.
"Oh, um, hello, sir."Izuku extended his hand politely.
"YAMADA!" Present Mic yelled, causing the three to clap their hands over their ears again. He grinned toothily.
"I swear to FUCKING GOD-"
"Kacchan!"
"King!"
"Oh, it's all right. We haven't had visitors in...nine hundred years? What are your names?" The man tapped a finger to his chin enthusiastically. It seemed like everything he did was over pronounced and somehow loud.
"I'm Izuku Midoriya, s-Yamada." the greenette introduced himself. "This is my quest, and they offered to help out."he explained. "But they've done a lot, and I'm not really cut out for this hero stuff..." he apologized sheepishly.
"Eijirou Kirishima, at your service!"The redhead grinned. "Your yell is super manly, bro!"
"King Bakugou, motherfucker." Katsuki grumbled.
"Kacchan!" Midoriya elbowed the blonde.
"Alright, fine. The name's Katsuki Bakugou. You better not cross me." he bragged.
"That's just his ego talking." Izuku rolled his eyes. "Trust me."
"YOU FUCKING-"
"Shhh."Midoriya hissed. "You want this guy to help us or not?"
Katsuki fumed silently.
"All right! Follow me!" Yamada beckoned.
The trio cautiously walked behind their strange guide into the castle. They walked past old, fading tapestries and several suits of armor, which made Izuku shudder slightly.
"How big is this place?"
"Oh, I have no idea. Shouta was the one who had it built, and I still find random passages and rooms every day."
Who's Shouta?
Present Mic led them farther into the castle until they reached another large door.
Yamada turned the knob and barged in, yelling,
"SHOOOU-TAAAAA! We have visitors!" at an earsplitting yell.
After their ears stopped ringing, the trio followed.
It was a throne room of sorts. A man with long black hair and a scruffy face sat in an ornate chair at the end.
"Hizashi, I swear to god if you don't quiet down I'll-"he cut himself off. His voice was deep and almost rusty.
But what was the most strange was what he was wearing.
His entire body, with only his face poking out, was encased in a faded yellow sleeping bag.
"Uh..is that guy wearing a blanket?" Kirishima asked.
"Is this the fucking wizard? That's a disappointment." Bakugou grumbled.
"H-hey, guys, be nice..." Izuku lamely said. He was beginning to feel a bit unsure about this wizard and his companion as well.
"Well." The man on the chair stepped down. His gaze was piercing, and all three stood a little straighter underneath it.
"It looks like we have a wolf, a dragon, and-" He paused, looking closely at Izuku.
"What's that on your forehead?" he asked, hopping forward in his sleeping bag and peering at it. He was still thirty feet away, and Izuku coughed.
Katsuki and Kirishima wondered,
How does he know what we are?
"Uhm, I don't really know exactly what it is, but sir, your sleeping bag-"
"Yes, yes." The wizard unzipped his bag. Underneath he was wearing all-black clothing and had a strange whitish rope around his neck.
He walked forward, pacing around them.
"It's been so long since I've found an adventurer worthy of wielding the sword. Centuries have passed, and I wait with my insufferable aide, hoping for the person who will become our salvation." He peered at the trio.
"Hey!" Yamada yelled.
"All right, you're not that bad."
"Damn right I'm not."the yellow-haired man replied indignantly.
"My name is Aizawa. Many know me as Eraser, but you may call me Aizawa-sensei."
"I am a wizard. My name was once known throughout the lands but now I waste away here, in my castle."
"Long ago, a terrible man-the same evil that hangs like a cloud over this wretched land-got his filthy hands on my sword." A flash of Anger registered on Aizawa's face.
"Luckily I was able to stop him in time and get it back, creating the Badlands to ensure that no one unworthy could ever touch it again."
"But now, he has been biding his time and assembling his forces, ready to strike. Once he gets the sword, there will be no stopping him. Which is why we are in need of you, young Izuku. You are more powerful than you realize. You are the only one who can stop him, with the aid of the Sword of Shining Light." He gazed at Midoriya.
"Now, young man, are you up for it?"he asked sternly.
Izuku's insides were in turmoil.
I'm just a kid...can I really-
Mom. All Might. Uraraka. Iida. Kirishima.
Kacchan.
I can't let them down.
"Yes." he gazed back into Aizawa's eyes with resolve.
"Good. Come this way, we need to get you armor and preparation for the upcoming battle."
"All right. But Aizawa-sensei...who is this evil we are fighting?" Izuku asked.
"Yeah, I'd like to fucking know that too." Katsuki grumbled.
The wizard turned back, looking at them with tired eyes.
"His name is..."
"Shoto Todoroki."
Ha! Didn't see that coming!
I mean, I tried to warn you.
POP STAR AU! COMING SOON!
