Jennie paces around the scarred, elegant-mysterious, welcoming yet somber, slightly off house, a pout on her lips and a crease between her eyebrows. She lets out a huff as she reaches one side of her room and twirls around to pace back to the other side.

She knows she's being unreasonable.

She knows she's being a brat on a day that is only supposed to be filled with celebration and joy, but she couldn't help the small seed of negativity that grew within her. Jennie is no doubt extremely happy for her older sister, Jisoo. She wishes only the best for her dear older sister and was most excited to be the one standing beside her on the altar as Jisoo and her beloved Chaeyoung tied themselves together for eternity.

However, over the course of the evening, the ceremony and celebration only reinforced the notion that Jennie didn't want to acknowledge: that she was decisively and resolutely alone.

Jennie kept her smile on during the evening for as long as she could. She is happy for her sister and new sister-in-law, truly. Both Jisoo and Chaeyoung knew this, and were in fact pushed to get married by Jennie, but they also knew her worries. Seeing Jisoo and Chaeyoung so in love, looking at each as if nothing else in the world existed but each other ㅡ made Jennie think about how she had no one like that, who would look at her like that.

Jennie had tried before, dating with people from the city who lived beyond the dark forest that encompassed her familial home, but they never understood her. Upon sight of Jennie, with her wavy, jet black-hair, black gothic style; they would either make an excuse to go to the bathroom, which Jennie has learned they used to escape because they never came back, or start snickering as they gulped down more alcohol than preferable on a first date before making some crude remarks.

Jennie has sat one too many times at a cafe or restaurant table, with shoulders curled in and head down as her date never returned. Jisoo had told Jennie to stop once she had returned home sobbing, again, because her date had humiliated her in a public space in front of an audience. It was a good thing she hadn't brought November that day or else she would have surely blown up on the man. After that incident, Jennie never left the comfort of her home and forest.

Jennie couldn't understand why no one was accepting of who she was entirely, why no one would look at her the same way Jisoo looked at Chaeyoung, whenever her sister-in-law would throw her entire body onto her older sister's because she couldn't contain her laughter.

So there she was, pacing her room because Jennie had become too overwhelmed by her clan and the concerned eyes Jisoo and Chaeyoung threw her way during the entire night.

"I know, they're just worried for me." Relents Jennie, pace slowing down as the tension slowly melts away from her body.

"It's a joyous day. The moon is full in the sky, the entire Kim clan has gathered, Aunt Gahyeon even found her right eye for the occasion and little Hyunseok had his first cigar!" Insist Jennie, as she lowers herself onto the edge of her grand bed.

"I'm being stupid, aren't I November?" Jennie exclaims with a sigh. She brings her left hand up to her right ear, where a little, black widow spider is waiting, ready to jump onto the hand.

"I should go back down and enjoy the party. It's not every day everybody can gather and I want them to stop worrying, it's their special day." Jennie whispers to her black widow pet, November, as she brings her hand to the front of her face. The little spider rests comfortably on the back of her hand, paying no mind to Jennie's usual ramblings.

"Plus, I'm wearing an outfit fit to die in. It should be shown off, not hidden here in my room." Jennie pouts.

Jennie lets out another sigh as she lifts her hand toward her forehead, allowing November to jump back into her hair. The black widow liked to nest in her owner's hair, sometimes weaving strands with intricately designed webs or hanging off one of her ears. Either way, November has been Jennie's dearest companion ever since she found the little spider wounded on the ground of her dark forest. She carefully nursed the black widow back to health and she has not left her since.

Jennie walks over to the huge, full body mirror, which like the rest of her room fits perfectly with the dark decor of her room, with its majestically designed intricate black swirls and thick frame all around. She dusted off her skirt that flares around her in layers and stops right before her knees, making sure there are no wrinkles. Then smooths down her hair, tucking one side behind her ear to make sure November could be shown off as well. She quickly retouches her makeup, then slips on her tall stompers. The tall boots that go with the rest of her black outfit give her two more inches of height thanks to the thick platform and fit snugly around her calves. The pair reach the bottom of her knees and are lined with silver buckles that go with her jewelry.

"Okay, let's get back down there." Jennie exhales, running her hands nervously up and down her side.

She feels November comfort her by dangling off her ear by a thin web so that she can survey for any danger, ready to protect her at any moment. Jennie carefully slips out of her room, the heavy wooden door shutting firmly behind her.

Noise from the party gently fills the empty hallway, guiding Jennie to her destination. Their familial home is big and intricate. Not every door leads to a room and not every hallway has a destination. The number of floors is unknown because there are too many half-floors and disconnected rooms. It's all quite simple and cosy.

The main colour scheme of the house is the lovely and airy colour black accentuated by some cold, jewel tones. The outside tourettes and uneven windows are painted different shades of black which are built into sturdy, weathered stone that have long lost their original colour and are now perpetually in a shade of grey. It all gives the house a very welcoming appearance. Anybody who ever stumbles upon their humble abode simply screams in terror at how welcoming it is.

Inside, Jisoo decided it needed some more separation, so she made sure to paint every hallway the same shade of murky beige and fill the walls with the same extravagant pieces of art so that they could be enjoyed everywhere throughout the house. Jennie wasn't so sure about the redecoration at first, but her sister was truly a genius. It was so comforting to see the same beautiful pieces of art everywhere she went and it was so much easier to get around when all the hallways looked the same.

However, it was each separate room that completed the magical feel of the house. They were each decorated differently, creating different cosy nooks behind each door. Some rooms were emerald green, others were ruby red, each filled with dark furniture and fixtures, and most times a fireplace as well. The walls are lined with paintings of relatives that follow each person that passes by and the corners are filled with marble statues or intricate vases. Jennie thinks it's the small details that bring a certain liveliness to the house.

To ensure the house was set in the proper mood for celebrations, Jisoo and Chaeyoung opted to light up the inside with tall wax candles all throughout. As Jennie walked down the hallway, candle fixtures on both walls were distanced enough from one another that the feeble warm light casted dark shadows above Jennie's head and across the beige walls from the paintings. Jennie's heavy stomps were softened by the plush carpet laid centrally across the dark wooden floors.

The noise from the party gradually grew louder as Jennie approached one of the grand spiral staircases in the house. This one led to their ballroom and like the other fixtures in their house, was made with a dark oak wood. Jennie could hear the festive music, played by a live band, and the chattering of her clan. She was sure trays of drinks were flowing freely throughout the grand ballroom and that people were either dancing or catching up with one another.

Jennie paused right before the hallway opened up to the staircase to collect herself. She must first apologize to the newlyweds for disappearing on them and then she can mingle amongst her clan and hope that no one asks when she's next. Jennie does one last check on her lace bodice before making her way towards the staircase.

Jennie keeps her eyes casted downwards, hoping to minimize her entrance so that she can quietly slip into the crowd. Jennie still has a small somber cloud filling her mind. Soon she'll be surrounded by her dear aunts, uncles, and cousins, each with their date for the night. Of course, she's extremely happy to see them but soon enough they'll start asking who she'll dance with or if she has a partner for the night. Then there's her dear sister and Chaeyoung.

Jennie has never seen anyone as in love as they are. For months she's watched the way Chaeyoung has stared at her older sister, as if Jisoo spun the galaxy herself. Chaeyoung's attention rarely wavered from her lover. Jisoo was the all encompassing sky to her entire world, and every day Chaeyoung was once again enraptured by Jisoo. From her body-wracking to laughs to her sassy eye-rolls, Jennie could see the way Chaeyoung fell in love with her older sister all over again. Jennie could physically feel the warmth of Chaeyoung's love for her older sister in the way Jennie softened whenever she saw them together.

Jennie knew their love was as pure as moonlight. When they spoke in hushed, barely awake tones around the breakfast table or side by side, shoulders bumping, as they strolled around the graveyard, Jennie knew they were the truest pair meant to be. Jennie loved watching them over the last few months as they fell in love with each other every single day; but Jennie couldn't help the small, miniscule part of her that was jealous that she had no one like that.

Soon.

She told herself, digging herself out of the somber cloud.

Please.

Jennie looked up as she was midway down the staircase, trying to find the newlyweds. She was lucky, they were stationed near the bottom of the stairs, their backs to Jennie as they chatted with someone blocked by Chaeyoung's shoulders.

Jennie leaned against the rail and stood on the tips of her shoes, trying to see who the terribly, happy couple was talking to. Jennie could just make out the top of a well styled head with luscious dark locks set in bangs. Yet, Jennie still couldn't see the face of who the newlyweds were talking to. It was odd, she didn't recognize this person.

She leaned more body weight against the sturdy staircase handle by supporting herself with two hands, tipping a bit more over the edge. However, it still wasn't enough. If only Jennie could lean just a bit moreㅡ

The breath in her throat immediately stops as Jennie catches sight of the face talking to her sisters. The loud party noise becomes a fuzzy, distant ring as her eyes lock onto the woman.

Strong, dark eyebrows ㅡ that are blocked by her bangs, but still can be seen ㅡ clear cut features highlighted and delectably red lips that only enhance her deathly pale skin, galaxy-like doe eyes that looks heavenly.

Jennie watches as the said woman laughs heartily, throwing her head back a bit, showing off the sharp cut of her jaw. She thought the woman looked absolutely divine the moment she laid her eyes on her, but watching her laugh with her shoulders slightly shaking and her berry lips stretched into a wide smile, Jennie couldn't think as the whole world stopped.

Her laugh seems to be amplified for Jennie, because the deep timber echoes all around her, turning her insides into molten lava. If Jennie could only hear one sound for the rest of her life, it would be that cavernous laugh that seems to resonate throughout her soul and awaken her dead heartbeat.

Jennie has never seen a face created so unarguably perfect and beautiful since her mummified dear grandmother, may she wake up soon. As the laughter slowly died off from the woman, piercing dark eyes, like obsidian stone, suddenly met hers from over top Chaeyoung's head and Jennie couldn't see.

Literally.

The breath that was stuck in her throat had been stuck for too long so Jennie was choking. The hands supporting her body fly up to her throat, giving way for this body to tip forward and fall over the railing. Before she could catch herself, Jennie was flying through the air, disorientated, arms flailing about.

Abruptly her body stopped falling and air suddenly returned to her lungs.

Steel arms held her body from crashing to the floor, supporting her from her knees and mid-back. The world was still spinning around her but the body holding her came into sharp focus. Strong eyebrows with a worried crease in-between and shadowy eyes stared at her intensely. Jennie watched as a myriad of emotions flashed through her eyes; worry, astonishment, amazement, and fondness. She couldn't re-focus her thoughts properly with those eyes on her.

"I just died for you." Jennie whispers, eyes wide and trapped in the woman's gaze.

The crease immediately smooths out and the intense look in her eyes dissipates into a soft glint. The berry-red lips, that were pinched in concern, relax and gently curl at the ends.

"I am honoured to be given such a privilege from a stunning creature such as yourself," the statuesque face replies in a deep voice, smooth like rolling clouds of a storm.

The woman carefully placed Jennie back onto her stomper covered feet. She was a bit disappointed to be let down already as she hadn't felt so secure since her mother took away her straight jacket when she was a child. However, the entire time Jennie couldn't take her eyes off of the beautiful face in front of her.

Jennie was completely captivated; looking away felt like trying to shift the sun away from the center of the solar system. Her heart had awoken and was beating much more strongly than it had in years. A warmth was filling her chest; it was pushing against her ribcage and filling her stomach. Jennie could feel the blood pumping through her veins and heating her pale face. The sensations were foreign. Jennie had never felt so warm before, her heart beating loudly in her ears. Looking at the woman, she has never felt so alive and warm before. It was addicting and Jennie never wanted to stop feeling like this.

Although Jennie was placed back on her feet, the arm around her waist kept her anchored to the woman, as if she too did not want to let go. Jennie was completely enraptured. She wanted to feel the solid body that anchored her to life. She slowly lifted one hand to rest it against the woman's jaw and gently ran her thumb along the smooth skin of her cheek, enchanted by how soft and deadly cold the skin felt. The arm around her waist pulled Jennie in tighter and the woman's large palm splayed across her side, caging Jennie in.

"What is your name?" Jennie asks in a hushed tone, distracted by the gentle lift of her lips.

"Yours, forever." The tantalizing voice jests. "However, I commonly go as Lisa Manoban, my dear."

"Lisa Manoban." Jennie repeats, gently rolling the name in her mouth like a prayer.

"You breathe life into my name," Lisa confides, awed. "I can imagine none other than you saying my name."

Jennie's eyes flutter delicately under the devotion in Lisa's voice; her other hand coming up to rest against the black suit-jacket that covered a black turtle-neck. Her fingers mindlessly ran along the thick fabric, smoothing out a few stray wrinkles.

"Your name holds much more meaning than I can express, so I must only say it as one would a prayer." Jennie utters shyly, lifting her eyes once more to meet Lisa's.

"And you, my dear, will you give me the chance to worship your name as you do for mine?" Lisa ponders, looking so intently into her eyes.

Jennie can see how eager Lisa is to learn her name. As though, if Jennie denied her question, the rejection would hurt Lisa so deeply she would walk away like an injured predator. No one has been so eager to get to know Jennie, let alone only learn her name. Jennie flourishes under the attention of this gorgeous woman, feels herself unfurl like a moth from its cocoon as she dusts off some flirting skills she hasn't used in a while.

"Jennie Kim, younger sister of Jisoo Kim." She introduces, lifting her hand off of her jacket to hold it in front of her, waiting for her to properly shake it.

Lisa's eyes widened in recognition at the mention of her name. She grasped Jennie's waiting hand with her free hand, lowering her head to plant a soft kiss on her knuckles. Jennie's breathe hitches at the feel of her soft lips. The entire time, Lisa's eyes never leave Jennie's, keeping her pinned with the gloomy intensity.

"Ah, so you're the girl that Rosie talks about. She's told me many stories about you in her letters to me." Lisa replies.

Jennie's smile grows at the piece of information. "Good stories, I would hope."

"Entertaining stories," Lisa states, smirking. "Would you be so kind as to give me the absolute divine pleasure of one dance as I fear letting you leave my arms so soon,"

Jennie delicately pulls her hand out of Lisa's, a flash of hurt passing through her eyes.

"I don't think I could ever leave your arms now." Jennie mumbles, making sure to snuggle her side closer to Lisa.

Lisa readjusted her grip on Jennie's waist to lead her towards a space on the dance floor, a big smile on her face as her eyes never leave Jennie. From behind them, the newlyweds look at each other knowingly, quickly scampering off to leave the new pair.

They find a suitable spot in the middle of the mass of Jennie's dancing relatives, right underneath the grand chandelier lit by tall, white candles; the light reflecting throughout the ballroom by mirrors. Jennie turns towards Lisa, her cheeky smile contagious as Jennie can't help but to crack her gummy smile in return, eyes turning into crescent. Jennie rests one hand on Lisa's shoulder while she clasp their hands together again. Lisa brings their clasp hands up to the starting position before pinning Jennie with her glinting eyes.

"Are you ready, my darling moon?" Lisa asks.

Jennie almost falters at the surprise term of endearment. She can't help the pleasant flush that spreads across her pale cheeks.

My darling moon.

That's right. From this moment on, Jennie would revolve around no one else, be pulled in by no one else, because Lisa was her entire world. Her center of gravity. Her reason for existing. She could feel this new epiphany settle into the very core of her being, forever shaping her soul into that of pure adoration for Lisa. Jennie knew with a conviction so strong that this was the woman sent to her by the universe to be by her side forever. She knew, with the same clarity of when she found November, that Lisa would be her partner forever and that she was meant to be in her life. Jennie could no longer imagine another day where she wasn't by her side. She thinks this is only the surface of the deep chasm of love Jennie has for Lisa.

"Ready." Jennie responds, staring earnestly back into Lisa's starry eyes.

The music transitions from the previous piece with a striking beat. The mass of dancers surrounding them just as quickly change their pace to match the music, flowing around the ballroom like a black ribbon caught in the wind. They create a thick barrier around the pair, encasing them in their own world.

Each dancing pair are too caught up in their own steps to pay any attention to Lisa and she as they easily settle into the steps of a tango. Jennie doesn't even notice the crowd lining the dance floor, whispering and gossiping with wide eyes as they watch Jennie and Lisa make their way boldly across the floor, caring for no one around them. Jennie's eyes are only on Lisa, and will only ever be on her from now on.

Their bodies move smoothly in unison to the pace of the brisk song. Jennie's body is pliant against Lisa's. She steps wherever Lisa leads her, guided by careful pressure against her lower back and shoulders leaning towards the direction they are heading to. Sharp notes from the violins are followed by bright keys from the piano as they glide across the floor, creating their own pocket of intimacy.

It was shocking how quickly their bodies accustomed themselves to each other. How naturally Jennie could read each shift and tilt of Lisa's body as she led them. How Lisa could masterfully manoeuvre Jennie with the highest care. Lisa's eyebrows raise in appreciation at what a wonderful partner Jennie is. Like her shadow, Jennie follows each prompt and effortlessly keeps up with every step.

Lisa's hands are a warm weight on her waist and hands. Their chest shyly brushes against one another as they move. Even though Jennie and Lisa are not around the same height, Jennie can still marvel at Lisa's perfectly sculpted face. Lisa has just the broad shoulders, that encompass Jennie in a warm shroud, whereas Jennie has a delicate waist, which Lisa grazes her fingers appreciatively against.

Their feet move in tandem with the racing beat of her heart as the music reaches a high. Jennie's muscles strain as Lisa manoeuvres them more friskly to match the pace. Although Jennie is wearing tall stompers, she's light on her feet as Lisa twirls and twists her around. Her mouth is dry as her breath stills in her chest.

The music takes a dramatic turn. The violins are playing furiously as the notes descend into deeper pitch. Jennie's heart feels like it's racing a mile a minute down stairs, rushing down into a deep cavern inside of her. The entire time Jennie's eyes never leave Lisa's as they're flying across the pace they made in the center of the ballroom.

The lights are flying in her periphery, mixing into the dark barrier of dancers around them. Jennie doesn't know when was the last time she took a breath. She's constantly on the edge, seemingly caught on a gasp as Lisa spins her underneath the chandelier. She's turning so rapidly, her skirt flaring around her as the music gets impossibly louder, blocking out every other sound and filling her ears with their descending melody.

She doesn't know where she is, lost in the mirage of music and blurring lights, only that Lisa's hands are anchoring her to this world, keeping her in place. The rapid playing of the violins suddenly stops and the gasp in her throat leaves her mouth as she's bent out of her spin into a gravity-defying back bend. The lights above her blur into a thousand stars and the music transitions into the pacifying sounds of the piano. Jennie is breathing hard, her chest heaving as she slowly gathers her wits.

She can feel a strong arm supporting her waist, caging her into the sturdy body of Lisa. Her other arm is clasped tightly against her arm, keeping her from falling completely onto her backside. The blurring lights fade into the background as Jennie slowly focuses on the face hovering just above hers. Lisa is breathing just as hard as she is, their chest lightly brushes against one another at each heave. Lisa is staring so intensely into her eyes, eyebrows slightly furrowed, as if she just came to a startling realization. Jennie stares back, eyes wide in wonder as she marvels in everything Lisa is.

Jennie grips Lisa's shoulder just a bit tighter, pulling herself closer. Their noses gently brush against each other as they catch their breath. Lisa pulls her out of the bend but keeps her close, bodies pressed together. Jennie smiles gently as she moves her hand away from Lisa's and slides it up to her shoulder.

"Your bangs are ruined." Jennie whispered quietly, not needing to speak loudly as their faces were only inches apart.

She reaches to gently fix it. Lisa watches as a small crease forms between Jennie's eyebrows from concentration, eyes focused. Lisa can feel Jennie carefully try to put the certain hairs back into place but it's futile since they've lost their hairspray hold. The dancers around them and the music fades into the background as Lisa can only focus on Jennie. At how she adorably huffs in frustration to fix her bangs and how determined she looks to put it back.

Lisa reaches for Jennie's hand before she could try again. Jennie jumps in surprise as her hand is engulfed by Lisa's hand. She watches as Lisa brings her hand to her mouth and plants a soft kiss against her knuckles, eyes shining cunningly up at Jennie.

"Thank you for the effort my dear, but I'm afraid those strands have chosen to not stay." Lisa utters, soft lips brushing against her fingers.

Jennie blushes shyly. "Yes, I suppose so. I'm sorry, I guess we were dancing just a bit too rough,"

"Nonsense, we were splendid. You were perfect, are perfect." Lisa declares, bringing their claps hands down.

"Truly?" Jennie probes, searching Lisa's eyes for her sincerity.

Lisa's eyes only shine with genuine honesty and fondness. "Of course. I would never lie to you, darling. You are a fantastic partner and a divine creature. Hopefully, I have the pleasure of dancing with you again,"

"Whenever you'd like..." Jennie says immediately, no shame in her eagerness. "We could continue right now. Or if you're too tired we could take a break. Orㅡ"

Lisa chuckles at her excitement, her eyes softening further with fondness. The deep sound surprises Jennie. With her slightly wet hair, strong eyebrows, her bangs that were now curtain bangs, forehead showed, and her mouth tilted in a smirk. Lisa looked like a woman who made a deal with the Devil, no, was the Devil who took souls for pleasure and devoured them whole. The image made desire warm her core.

The Devil.

Her Devil.

"Come, my moon, let's get back to your sisters. As I recall, I was distracted from our conversation," Lisa tells, voice mellifluous, leading her off the dancefloor with the arm still wrapped around her waist.

Jennie nods and follows along, enjoying the weight of her arm. She can see her older sister and her sister-in-law sitting on their grand chairs up on the dais where they can be the stars of the celebration.

The dais is to the far end of the ballroom with the wall behind it made entirely of window panels that went from floor to ceiling. The windows look out onto the balcony that hung over the cliff their house was situated on. The dark night made the window wall seem like it was an inky curtain but the bright full moon pierced the scenery. It looked a tad gimmicky, as if they were royalty looking down on their family. But Jisoo quickly fixed it by placing couches of different cool jewel tones from around the house beside them so that they could sit and chat with family. Now the dais looked cosy instead of isolating.

The newlyweds moved their chairs so that they were side-by-side. Jennie could see them talking, both leaning onto the arm rest closest to each other, knees bumping together. They were in their own little bubble as they talked, paying no mind to the party around them. Jennie could see Noodle, Jisoo's pet python, wrapped around the tall backing of her chair and resting her head comfortably on Jisoo's shoulder. As Jisoo talked, she absentmindedly petted Noodle's head, the snake flicking its tongue out in content.

Jennie and Lisa approached the pair and Jennie could see her sister-in-law smiling so wide her eyes disappeared as she threw upper body onto Jisoo's, laughing into her shoulder. Jisoo threw an arm around Chaeyoung's shoulders to hold her upright as she laughed.

"Chaeng," said Lisa, as they stood in front of the pair.

"Ah, Lisa!" Chaeyoung cheerily greeted, as she drags her eyes away from her wife. "It seems you've met Jennie,"

"Yes, I'm not quite sure how you've hidden this precious gem from me for so long." Lisa replied, looking so lovingly at Jennie.

"Please, you've always known about her. This is just the first time you're meeting her." Chaeyoung responds back, scoffing.

"That's true," Lisa looked at Jennie admiringly. "And what a meeting it's been. Jisoo, dear, I might just have to steal your sister from you,"

"Oh Lisa, don't be crass, you can come and visit whenever. And, after everything that just happened I'm sure we'll be seeing more of you around here." Jisoo murmured, arching an eyebrow haughtily.

Noodle curls around the chair as Jisoo rises from her chair and reaches for her younger sister. "Jendeuk, I'm glad you're feeling better," Jisoo gently brushes her fingers through her hair as she looks up at Jennie in concern. "Are you sure nothing's wrong?"

Jennie has always been slightly-taller than her older sister, more so with her stompers on, but Jisoo's presence makes her feel small and comforted. It has always been her and Jisoo throughout her entire life. Giving her her first Cuban cigar, showing her how to throw knives at 3, and teaching her the array of poisonous plants in their greenhouse, Jisoo has always been the best older sister, always looking out for her. Even when Jennie grew inches taller than her, Jisoo never stopped caring for her; which is why her presence brings immense comfort and safety to Jennie. With her sister nothing could go wrong. However, it made moments like this feel extra guilty for worrying her sister when nothing was truly wrong.

Jennie leans into Jisoo's hand. "Yes unnie, I'm okay. Don't worry too much, I was just being stubborn. I'm sorry I made you worry. That's the last thing you should be doing tonight."

"No, no, Jendeukie. If anything is ever wrong you know you can talk to me or Chaeyoung, right?" Jisoo says, looking earnestly into Jennie's eyes with her all-seeing, deep brown eyes.

"Yes, unnie, I know. I always know." Jennie mumbles, sighing.

Jisoo presses her lips together as she slightly nods.

She slides her hands into Jennie, pulling her towards a few couches on the side. "Come let's sit together." She nods in the direction, looking expectantly at Chaeyoung and Lisa.

Jisoo leads them to a velvet, emerald green couch on the side, with a few deep orange cushions at the foot for sitting. The couch is backed to the wall of windows so that the murky night and vivid moon looked over them.

Chaeyoung sits on the couch and Jisoo pulls a cushion to sit near her feet, side resting against Chaeyoung's legs. Jennie mirrors her sister and sits on the floor cushion while Lisa sits on the couch, slightly behind her so that Jennie could also rest against Lisa's legs. Jennie takes the opportunity and rests her head against Lisa's knees, hair resting onto her lap.

Chaeyoung pulls Lisa into a conversation as Jisoo and Jennie coax Noodle to join them from the chair. As Lisa talks, she soothingly strokes Jennie's hair; occasionally massaging her fingertips into the scalp, sending shivers of pleasure down Jennie's spine. She watches as Noodle slitters across the floor, her agile body weaving through chair legs and moving feet, her scales reflecting colours of the spectrum as the light bounces off of them.

Noodle was Jisoo's precious python that she's had since Noodle was still in her egg. Noodle was extremely rare because of her scales that appear multi-coloured when light properly reflects off of them. Of course when Jisoo got her egg she had no idea. It just happens to be the Devil's work that the python is as beautiful as its owner.

Noodle, like November, has free reign of the house. November chooses to stay near Jennie while Noodle ventures out more on her own, usually slithering through ceiling fixtures or along the corridor, but she always comes when Jisoo calls upon her. Indeed, Noodle's favourite spot is around Jisoo's shoulders where she can nuzzle into her cheek.

When Chaeyoung first joined the family, Noodle was very cautious, hissing whenever she got too close to Jisoo. She'd rear back in warning, eyes never leaving her. As much as Chaeyoung tried she could never seem to win Noodle's favor, always clumsily botching any gesture suggested by Jisoo and Jennie.

It wasn't until one day when Jisoo had stumbled upon Chaeyoung napping on her stomach in a sitting room that she found Noodle curled up on her back, napping as well. From then on Noodle was much more accepting of Chaeyoung's presence. Their relationship grew to the point where Jennie would find Chaeyoung debating the ethics of social work to Noodle, the snake occasionally hissing in agreement.

Noodle slides her body onto Jisoo's lap, then continued up her shoulder to rest her head on Chaeyoung's lap. She wrapped her tail around Jisoo's upper body, tying them all together.

"Hello, Miss Noodle," Chaeyoung remarked, solemnly. "Come to join us?"

A hiss and flick of the tongue.

"Yes, of course." Chaeyoung presses her lip into a tight smile, petting her head.

Jennie giggles at the interaction, hiding her face into Lisa's legs. She looks up at Lisa, who was already looking down fondly at her. She places a hand across her knees and rests her cheek on her hand, never looking away from Lisa.

"So, how do you know Chaeyoung?" Jennie questions.

"Ah, what a story. Rosie-posie, how do I know you?" Lisa utters, turning to the latter.

"Well, it involves a beach and some electrical cords but those are details. It really started when we were cell mates. I was about to be shipped off to the ole' looney bin and this little rascal didn't get along with any of her previous mates." Chaeyoung babbles, ruffling Lisa's hair affectionately. "Something about getting murdered in their sleep with a toothbrush. They put us together until I had to be shipped off and we immediately hit it off. I mean, not literally, I was in a straight jacket. Helped me sleep better at night."

"I remember now! Good old St. Judes Penitentiary for Juveniles. Some of my best teenage memories come from that place." Lisa replies, reminiscent of past times.

"Oh, is that where you were before we found you escaping the Asylum?" Jisoo inquires.

"Yes it is. In fact, if it wasn't for Lisa slipping me a bobby pin into my straightjacket I would have never left the asylum and met you, dearest. So I guess we should be thankful for Lisa," Chaeyoung says, leaning toward Jisoo with puckered lips.

"Indeed." Jisoo smiled as she leaned up to plant a kiss on Chaeyoung's lips.

"Even after I left the penitentiary, Lisa and I kept in touch through letters and such. I was even the main investor in her business and that's been going amazingly! I'm the second biggest shareholder, behind Lisa of course."

"It's through those letters that I learned about you and Jisoo." Lisa murmured, looking down at Jennie as she twirled a few strands of hair around her finger.

"Business? What is your business, Lisa?" Jennie asks, curious.

"Well, I have some land here and there, and investing of course, but my main business is antiques and oddities. Nowadays, those rich fools believe they are only truly considered rich if they have some authentic antiques. You know, the usual stuff like a long lost painting or vase, or some vintage car."

"Lisa has quite the collection," Chaeyoung adds.

"You lucky bastard, that must have been you driving the vintage black Packard," Jisoo astonishes. "I remember seeing that pull up to our house and didn't recognize it as one of our own."

"Yes, I'm quite lucky to have a vast collection of heirlooms, a perk of my profession I suppose."

"Oh, so you sell those to your clients?" Jennie seeks.

"Oh dear, no. I could never trust any rich person to care for and truly admire such important artifacts. Most antiques I own. I just give them replicas, but they don't know that. I make sure they're absolutely perfect. Not many would be able to distinguish between my fakes and the real one anyways." Lisa explains softly. "I sometimes sell directly but I also own the major auction houses around the world. Either way, the antiques usually make the most money but the oddities are where the real fun's at."

"I hope I can see your collection one day," Jennie , looking eagerly up at Lisa.

"Of course, my moon, name any day and you shall have full access to my personal collection of authentic antiques and oddities," Lisa tenderly replies, gently cupping her cheek.

Jennie smiles brightly at Lisa, eyes crinkling and gums on display.

They spend a while chatting amongst themselves. Lisa telling atrocious stories about the customers she must deal with and how she's managed to visit Chaeyoung over the years without ever meeting Jennie. They were all sent into a fit of laughter when Jisoo told the story of how Chaeyoung managed to turn Noodle into an actual noodle when she was only trying to water the plants. At the time Jisoo was quite concerned but, being the expert potion master she is, she was able to help Chaeyoung reverse the problem. After the incident, Chaeyoung was dazed for the rest of the day, refusing to leave the couch. Noodle hissed in displeasure at the retelling.

They spoke for hours, trading stories and good laughs. Time seemed to hold no meaning at the party as the good times stretched on forever.

Jennie's limbs were aching a bit from sitting for so long. She looked around the room as the others continued to talk.

"Come, I wish to dance some more," Jennie says, getting up from the cushion. She brushes out the crumpled material of her dress before holding out a hand to Lisa.

Lisa returns her beaming smile as she slides her hand into Jennie's. "As you wish."

"You two go, we'll stay here," Jisoo says, procuring a glass of wine. She moves to sit beside Chaeyoung on the couch, bringing Noodle with her.

Jennie pulls Lisa back to the dance floor where the clan had begun a festive group dance. The tempo was fast and jovial with a rhythmic beat and fast playing strings. Jennie and Lisa quickly joined into a circle, hands clasped together.

"Just follow along!" Shouts Jennie over the music.

Lisa nods back in response, smiling a bit nervously as she tries to keep up. The circle is spinning around then stopping every few beats to let go of each other's hands and clap a few times on the spot before twirling, and repeating the sequences again. Then the dancers are skipping around, weaving in and out in memorized patterns, hands clasping together and letting go. Jennie's cheeks hurt from smiling so hard, eyes squinting as she throws her head back to twirling along with the music. Her dress is spinning around her as she loses herself to the beat, cheering in unison with everyone else.

Lisa can't take her eyes off of Jennie.

She's completely given up on trying to follow along and instead stands aimlessly to the side as she watches Jennie dance. The way she's completely let go of herself as she dances, naturally moving her body across the floor all while laughing and smiling. It's contagious, her cheerful mood.

Lisa watches as Jennie closes her eyes, having the entire floor and dance memorized. Her hair is flying around her, her dress moving enticingly on her body as she throws her arms about. It seems like she's the center of the room, her merry spirit drawing everyone in to join the dance. She can see from the corner of her eye Jisoo and Chaeyoung watching Jennie dance with a fond smile on their lips, clapping along to the beat. Lisa can feel the thudding of her heart soar with the song as she watches Jennie, impossibly endeared and amazed at how she influences the room.

Nothing else matters but the smile on Jennie's face and her carefree attitude, no one else exists except for Jennie. She wishes she could encapsulate this vision of Jennie into a snowglobe, to keep it with her forever. Lisa would do anything to keep her glowing as vividly as the moon outside.

Somehow, this little vixen has completely captivated her from the moment she fell down those stairs, forever changing the center of her world.

Jennie notices from the corner of her eye how Lisa hasn't stopped staring at her. She meets her eyes and waves her over. It seems Lisa hasn't gotten the hang of the dance and needed some help.

Jennie pulls her closer with both hands. "Just copy me!"

Jennie first shows Lisa the steps slowly, paying no mind to the dizzyingly fast pace of those dancing around them. She looks at Lisa encouragingly, waiting for her to imitate the steps.

Lisa doesn't think she could deny her anything.

She imitates the steps with deliberate precision to see the bright smile return to Jennie's face.

"Absolutely amazing! Now let's do it together," Jennie says.

She takes Lisa's hands and they're off, dancing around the floor. Jennie is mainly leading this time, spinning them around in the center of the dance floor.

Jennie can't stop smiling as she watches Lisa dance along with her. The other seems to finally be letting herself get into the dance, a smile growing on her face. The beat is getting more ferocious and most of the room has joined in either by dancing along or clapping along. It's thunderous, the joint clapping, almost drowning out the music.

As the music got louder and the clapping got faster, Jennie and Lisa were racing to keep up. Their steps moving faster, their spins more dramatic, overflowing with a free spirit, uplifted by everyone in the room. This dance was different from the first one. Where the first was one was a meeting of their souls, sly introductions and flirting, this dance was a melding of their souls as their emotions became one.

Jennie's heart was racing. Sweat was dripping down as she kept up with the pace, and Lisa was there the entire time, keeping up immaculately. It seems like she hasn't even broken a sweat. The final peak was approaching, Jennie could tell by the nimble strings and cheering that was getting louder. Lisa must have noticed as well because she grabbed her waist and immediately hoisted her into the air, getting her airborne for a few seconds.

Time slowed and everything seemed to suspend itself for a few moments. The cheering and clapping were deafening, arms and hands being thrown up in celebration as somehow the floor was draped in gold confetti. The small metallic pieces reflecting the warm light like a thousand fireflies. Jennie could feel a swoop in her stomach and heart stop for a beat as she flew up, eyes connected with Lisa, who was smiling up at her so widely her mouth formed a charming smile.

Then the world came crashing down as she was caught back into Lisa's arms, everyone hooting and applauding the musicians.

Lisa held her up by her waist so that her face was hovering a few inches above her. They were both panting, chest heaving concurrently as Jennie wrapped her arms around her neck. Jennie rested her forehead against Lisa's and started laughing. The joy in her bubbling up so wildly she couldn't contain it. Lisa wrapped her arms around tighter and spun them around, laughing along with Jennie as the confetti continued to fall around them.

"That was amazing!" Jennie exclaimed as Lisa set her back onto her feet.

"It was, indeed." Lisa says, watching her with laughter in her eyes as Jennie tries to recover from dizziness.

"Come let's go again," Jennie says, bouncing with barely contained excitement.

"I'm afraid not, darling,"

"Pardon?"

It feels like an ice bucket has been dumped onto her, the festive mood being sucked out of her body. Jennie immediately stops trying to pull Lisa, her hands going slack and spine stick-straight. The glowing smile on her face quickly falls, the corners dropping like an anchor.

Lisa reaches into her pocket and takes out a silver pocket watch that seems to have been through many ventures. Just as Lisa flips it open, Jennie could hear the distant deep sound of the old grandfather clock signalling it was 2 AM.

"Just as I expected," Lisa says, sighing deeply.

Lisa grips her lax hand a bit tighter looking into her eyes with a deep sadness. "If it would have been anything else, my dear, I would have danced with you all night until my legs fell off. Sadly, I have an important meeting in the morning with some loyal buyers that I simply can not miss."

Jennie's throat feels too tight. Each swallow was like there was a ball pressing against the walls of her throat.

"Oh," Jennie whispers, voice throaty. "I understand."

The magic of the dance had disappeared and now Jennie was left feeling cold and alone. She wasn't sure if she'd see Lisa again, if Lisa wanted to see her again. Jennie does not think she could bear to never see Lisa again so suddenly and abruptly, after such a magical night. The mere thought brings a dagger to her heart, the sharp pain overwhelming her heart.

"I- do you have to?" Jennie says, eyes looking despondently into Lisa's.

"Come here," Lisa murmurs, as she pulls Jennie closer by her waist.

Jennie rested her hands against Lisa's chest as she brought her lips up to her forehead. Her eyes softly closed as Lisa kept her lips against Jennie's forehead for a few beats, savouring the moment.

"Let's go outside for a moment," she whispers against her forehead.

Jennie leads her to a side door that opens to the balcony.

It was a sturdy balcony made out of solid, dark wood that curved along the wall of windows from the ballroom. It hung over the cliff where the house was located. Almost as if it was suspended in the air with only the trees hundreds of meters below. Tonight, as it did most nights, it had a perfect view of the misty night sky and the full moon that casted its soft glow onto the hills covered in trees and pines that stretched as far as the eye could see.

Jennie shivered as the night chill seeped into her skin, her dress not doing any good. Everyone seemed to be inside partying, the golden glow from the party a stark contrast to the white light of the moon. It was very quiet, the only sound coming from the rustling of trees and wind.

"Here," Lisa whispered, as she draped her shoulders with her suit coat.

Lisa kept an arm around her shoulders, pulling her into the side of her body as they stood near the railing.

"Will I see you again?" Jennie asks, heart pounding, it echoes through her body.

"Of course." Lisa spoke immediately, turning to her with no hesitation. "Jennie, Iㅡ" she pauses, looking around as if the stars could tell her the words to say that were stuck in her throat.

"For once, I'm... left speechless." She says, chuckling quietly.

The words bring a warmth to her chest that fills her body. Jennie snuggles her body closer to Lisa's, hugging her waist. She hides her smiling face into the crook of her neck, trying to contain her happiness.

"I don't think I've ever felt like this. This feeling is so unexplainable and indescribable; I saw you, and that was it." Lisa's voice filled with awe, vibrating against Jennie's face.

"You," She murmured softly, pausing after each word to make sure Jennie understood what she was saying. "Forever."

Jennie can't contain the feelings bubbling inside of her any longer, the happiness slipping out in small laughs against Lisa's shoulder.

"Yes," Jennie says, looking up at Lisa. "Forever,"

Jennie moves so that they're facing each other full on now. She brings her hands to cup Lisa's jaw while staring at her, eyes wide and full of wonder. She takes a moment to stare at Lisa. Take in the dark eyes that stare at her so fondly and her perfectly crafted face, softened by emotion.

"Look at you," Jennie utters slowly, "Moonlight, dark night, so absolutely perfect, and all mine. I can barely believe it."

"All yours," Lisa says, leaning in to kiss Jennie's forehead.

Jennie's eyes fall close as she leans into her kiss, savouring the feel of her soft lips.

"You," Lisa whispers, moving to kiss her right cheek.

"Me," Jennie hears Lisa exclaim, as she kisses her left cheek.

"Forever."

Jennie basks in the attention she's been receiving, tilting her lips toward Lisa as she waits for one last kiss. She feels Lisa hover her face above hers, noses brushing together. She pouts her lips as she's left waiting a bit too long, brows furrowing.

"Kiss me, please." Jennie pleads quietly as she opens her eyes.

She stares into Lisa's eyes earnestly. Once again, nothing else mattered. In her arms, Jennie felt like she was being encapsulated in pure love and comfort. There was a quietness in her mind where she felt so assured and content in the present moment. She wasn't worried about one thing or another, wasn't thinking about anything and everything. She just knew that the weight of Lisa holding her anchored her to the world and the way she looked at her was everything to Jennie.

They slowly leaned together, Lisa's breath ghosting over her lips before her lips met hers. Lisa's lips were so soft and slotted perfectly against hers. Jennie melted at the feeling. Her bones became jelly, her heart stilled, and she felt like her stomach was filled with butterflies. She leaned heavily against Lisa as their tongues met. She tasted like champagne and smelled like smokey pine. Their tongues melded together like honey and Jennie was lost in the feeling of bliss.

Everything.

When they parted, they rested their foreheads together, taking heavy breaths. Jennie takes the moment to tangle Lisa's hair, gently combing them.

"I'll be back as soon as I can. Nothing will stop me from seeing you again. I'll be sure to properly block off my schedule so that we can go on a proper date." Lisa says. "Just wait a bit, my moon."

"I don't like waiting," Jennie mumbles. "But for you, I'd wait forever."

"I won't leave you for long, I promise."

Jennie kisses her jaw in recognition. She was all too happy to stay wrapped in Lisa's arms, nestled against her jaw, the cold no longer a bother. Lisa takes to soothingly rubbing one hand in a rhythmic pattern along her spine and the other playing with the hair on her nape. Jennie could fall asleep here and now, going lax at Lisa's ministrations.

"Jennie?"

"Hmm?" Jennie hums sluggishly.

"I must go."

"Just a few more minutes. I do not want to leave your arms." Jennie says, trying to snuggle even closer.

Lisa chuckles. "I do not want you to leave my arms either,"

"Then I won't."

"I'm afraid you must. Only for a little while though, as we promised."

Jennie whines as she pulls away from the warmth of Lisa's shoulder.

"Fine," Jennie huffs. "Let's go before I drag you to my room and lock the door."

"Another day, my love, another day." Lisa murmured, smiling as she guides Jennie back into the house.

Jennie has a big pout on her face the entire way.
