Chapter 38: Stalker (Linh's P.O.V.)

I'm in love with this one... THE COUCH CAME OUT SOOOOO GOOD!!! Yes look at the couch, don't try to find Sophie's legs.

It was my idea to follow Sophie and Tam when they Keefe obviously decided to come, too, even after the little talk we had at the dance about Tam and Sophie and privacy. Privacy has to be invaded sometimes, that's what I had told him. He ultimately agreed. And so it was that we spent the majority of the triple date crouching in the bushes, stalking my brother and his girlfriend.

"Since you left," I said casually, answering Tam's question after making him wait a good five seconds.

Tam groaned. "And I'm guessing you never left?"

Keefe shook his head proudly. "We even got pictures!" He said, holding up his phone like it was a very important artifact.

Tam sighed. "Just kill me already. No need to torture me first," he said, looking very ready to meet his doom.

I grinned. "Nah. Torturing you is fun! Plus, if I killed you, Sophie would kill me!" Sophie blushed, but didn't object. I knew she would do anything to protect Tam, and after what I saw just a few minutes ago, I figured she would probably go as far as murder to keep him safe.

"Well, we were trying to leave, so, if you wouldn't mind, could you please get out of the way?"

"I do, in fact, mind," Keefe said, sticking his nose up into the air in the snobbiest manner that he could. A hint of a smile played on his lips. Tam and I rolled out eyes in sync. I stepped aside.

"Go ahead. We should be heading back, anyway." I grabbed Keefe's arm and dragged him behind me.

I couldn't help but notice, the whole way back, how... close Sophie and Tam were. They used to hold hands all the time, sure, but this was different. Their fingers were interlaced, and I noticed Tam slowly drifting closer to her until their hips touched. At that time, Sophie had dropped his hand, swapping it for an arm around the waist, which allowed them to get even closer. But the part I was most bewildered by was that they both looked perfectly comfortable, even happy. I wondered what it took to get a relationship to that point. I glanced back at Keefe. Would he even want to?

I shook my head to clear it. I couldn't be looking this dazed when we got back to the clearing. They'd think things... things I didn't want them to think.

Biana and Jensi were already back when we got there, and they did not look happy.

"There you are! Do you have any idea what time it is?" Biana screamed at us. We all shook our heads, to petrified to speak. "It's-" she grabbed Jensi's wrist and held it up. "-Six fourty-eight!"

Tam laughed. "That's not late, Biana," he said. I had to agree.

"It is if we still have to get to Jensi's, eat, and be home by seven!"

I suddenly realized how hungry I was. Other than a few cookies, I hadn't eaten since lunch.

"I'm sure our parents wouldn't mind extending it half an hour," Sophie said, trying to be helpfull.

Biana scoffed. "You think your parents are going to let you stay until seven thirty at Tam and Linh's house? Good luck with that. And do any of us have means of communicating with them?"

The five of us patted our pockets. We had all left out phones behind.

"We'll just head back then," Sophie offered. "We can use Jensi's phone."

Everyone thought that was a valid idea, and we started heading down to Jensi's house. When we were already about a third of the way there, I realized somthing.and

"Jensi! The cookie plate! We left it behind!" He slowed his brisk pace.

"That's one of my mom's favorite plates. I'll run back and get it. You guys keep walking."

Tam and Keefe nodded, but Biana lunged for Jensi before he could get away.

"No way are you going back into those woods, n the dark, alone. I'm coming, too."

Keefe shifted awkwardly on his feet. "Y'know, I'm the oldest. I'm supposed to be the responsible one so... I'll come, too."

"So you're leaving me alone with Sophie and my sister?" Tam asked. "That's not happening." He stepped over to Jensi's side.

"And you're not getting away from me," I said, copying him.

Sophie three he hands up in the air. "Well I'm not going back alone!"

Jensi sighed. "Looks like we're all going."

None of us stopped to check the time, and boy, were we going to get in trouble for that.
