Jackie's bedroom
In my opinion, probably one of the nicest rooms in the house. Jackie's bedroom was a feminine retreat where she could enjoy in her own privacy. And to make it even more private she had her own joining on bathroom and dressing area!
During the Kennedy time, Jackie redecorated her bedroom frequently but always maintained her bed as two single beds pushed together. This was only because JFK liked a hard mattress for his back and Jackie preferred a softer mattress.
Disguised in the walls by the wallpapers was doors. If you were to sit at Jackie's bed and look at the windows, you would see a door that would lead you into JFK's bedroom.
Then there was a door beside her bed that led to her bathroom and dressing room. And finally there was a door on the left next to the main entrance that led to a small closet. We don't know if the small closet was used by Jackie at all. Probably not.
Above the fireplace, Jackie had exactly: 1 bust (cannot tell if it's Roman or Greek), 2 candles, 2 vases and 10 framed pictures. Jackie also had in her bedroom: a sofa, a bureau and a chandelier.
Jackie's dressing area is one of my favourite rooms too. It was similar to her bedroom. It had same style furniture. Her dressing room had pastel blue walls and matching curtains. The frames of the windows and doors were white as were the skirting boards. She had a dressing table that was white and a chaise lounge too that matched the walls.
She had frames on the walls and pictures clipped onto the dressing table of her and JFK and the children and there was many of the inauguration and state visits. Her chaise lounge was perfect for reading if she wanted and she had a leopard print throwover for afternoon naps.
