Central Hall
The main corridor in the private apartments is Central Hall. The hall had areas where the family could sit and it had bookcases which in the Kennedy era, would of housed JFK and Jackie's collection of many books. The Central Hall connects to Stair Landing, JFK's bedroom, the Yellow Oval Room, the West Sitting Hall and Closet Hall.
When the Kennedys moved in, in 1961, the Central Hall looked different to how it was when they left. When they entered the walls were a sort of darkish green, however when Jackie left a widow, the walls were a pastel blue.
There was also more framed pictures and paintings and books than there was chairs in the hall compared to how it looked when the Eisenhowers lived there.
There was also more regal sofas compared to none when Eisenhower lived there. By the time they'd left, the Kennedys had more chairs you'd find at the formal dining room than armchairs and the shells above the doors and bookcases had been removed and replaced with plain line framing.
