Chapter 29~ Fallen Angels pt. 1
"Oh, I already have." We all turn to see Affie standing in the doorway behind them. She's in her normal state, the one we all met her in. She walks up to Garroth. "Well, aren't you pretty." She grabs his chin and moves his face around, almost like she's getting a better look. "You'll be a good addition, but you know too much." She snaps her fingers and he falls to the ground, not moving.
"No..." It almost came out like a whisper. I felt my heart break and sink into my stomach. Everything we had worked for, went through, gone. Affie had ruined my whole life with a snap of her fingers.
"You have to marry me now, say 'I do'." Merek whispers in my ear.
"No, I-"
"Trust me with this." He looks to the priest and they both nod. "Please."
I take a deep breath and look around. Aphmau was over Garroth, shaking him, believing she could bring him back. Katelyn just looked at me. I took in a shaky breath as she nodded at me. "Do it, we have a plan." she mouthed. I looked to Merek.
"I do." Merek said.
"I do." I replied, but nothing seemed to happen. I could faintly hear the priest announcing us as married, but I couldn't help but look to my left at Garroth. Affie now stood looking at Merek and I, glad with herself. "Is this what you wanted?"
"Precisely, and now that we have you all to ourselves, I can finally get rid of these pests." She turned to Aphmau and Katelyn.
"No!" She paused and turned to me slowly. "Please, just let them go. Take me, I'll stay if you let them go."
"Are you an idiot?" She laughed. "You know who I am, what I do. Nobody ever leaves here, isn't that right Merek?" We both looked to Merek.
"Aphrodite, please. They did nothing. I got my bride, you got your prized piece for your collection. Can we just end this nightmare?" His hand was gripping mine and I hadn't even noticed.
"Excuse me?" She fully turned so she had a full view of Merek. "It's not enough, you know that. These people know about us now. I've made sure we were safe all these years. I'm the reason we're as powerful as we are now. If they leave with this knowledge, who's to say we won't be attacked? Do you want that Merek? Do you?!"
"I don't but shouldn't we show a little compassion?" Merek's grip tightened. "We've killed too many innocent people already Af- I just want us to be happy."
"I am happy. Are you not?" As sincere the words were, they came out with a grimace. "Are you unhappy Merek?" She took a step forward. "After everything I did for you?"
"I just think that we should rethink this." I looked over and noticed his eyes had changed colors. He'd broken out.
"You little bastard! You broke out! How dare you!"
"Affie enough!" They both turned to me.
"How dare you speak to me in that tone." She walked up to me, only inches from my face. "You are my puppet, remember?"
"No, you won't do this to us." I released Merek's hand and stepped back. She walked me backwards until my back brushed against the railing. "I won't let you."
"I don't need your permission. I've already gotten rid of the two biggest threats. Garroth is dead and you're just within reach." She grabbed my throat.
"Affie dont!" I heard Merek yell and I saw him running in our direction but her dagger went through my body before he could reach us. I looked down, blood was on her hands as she pulled it out. My breath hitched and Affie laughed.
"And now, we're safe again. Have a good trip to hell." She pushed me and my vision started spinning. I was falling, and I didn't have the strength to do anything about it. I closed my eyes and waited for the impact. I anxiously awaited for my last breath, my battle was over. I had lost and I had failed Aphmau. I let Phoenix Drop down, I let Garroth down...
My inhale shook as Merek's face over the balcony became smaller and smaller. "I'm sorry." I said it to no one is particular, but to everyone. I knew no one could hear me from where I was, but I had hoped someone out there heard it.
My body hit the water with a thud and I felt time slow down. Suddenly, all the pain went away and I felt like I was floating. I knew I was underwater, but I felt air in my lungs. I was dead.
~~~
"How could you?!" Affie wiped off her dagger and simply put it back as if nothing had just happened. "I did all of this because you wanted her here! Why'd you have to kill her?!" I look over to Aphmau. She was still grieving over Garroth. "You've gone too far this time." I withdrew my sword.
"Aw you're so cute." Her head titled back and suddenly she was glowing. I knew not to fight her like this, but I had to end this. She had ruined so many lives, including my own.
"Let's do this." I heard a voice behind me and saw Aphmau and Katelyn with swords drawn, ready to avenge the horror that've happened tonight.
"Oh, this will be fun."
~~~
"Anna?"
"Who's there?" I wasn't sure where I was, but everything was so dark.
"Hey darling."
"Laurence?"
"Need some help?" I was in the Nether. In front of me stood all of the people I had met during my time here.
"What are we gonna do?" I couldn't believe my eyes. Zenx, Vlyad, Laurence, even Gene and Vincent. "Why do you guys want to help me?"
"Because you helped us." Zenix put his hand on my arm. "We're simply returning the favor."
"Now go get ready and let's finish this thing." Laurence stood next to Zenix.
"What do you mean get ready?"
"You're the Jury's Angel, let's show them what you're capable of."
He wanted me in my final form. Could I even do it anymore?
