Ch.6 You Got Something To Prove?

Hero Basic Training.

It's title gives away the summarized premise of what it aims to teach.

But here at U.A., it could be more complicated than that.

Everyone knew who the Number One Hero was, almost every day All Might was saving someone or stopping criminal villains. He was a great role model that almost everyone looked up to, seeing him as the ideal version of what being a hero was.

Maybe that was why he was the teacher selected to teach the Hero Basic Training class.

It was a little nerve-wracking at the very idea of having All Might be Class 1-A's teacher, their experience with Mr Aizawa was one thing, but who knows what All Might was like?

"Ha ha ha ha! I am here! Entering the room like a hero!" All Might's loud and booming voice proclaimed as he dramatically entered the room.

His entrance and overall presence had the students staring at him in awe and amazement. All Might marched to the front of the classroom and faced the students, he was radiating pride and confidence.

"Welcome to the most important course here at U.A.! Think of it as Hero 101. Here you will learn the basics of being a pro and what it means to fight for the name of good!" He then turned and searched for some under his cape. "So let's get into it!" He exclaimed and pulled out a battle sign.

"Fight training." Bakugou figured, sounding delighted at the thought of beating someone up, causing a few of his classmates to sweat with concern.

"Real combat training?" Midoriya squeaked, nervously.

"But of course, one of the keys of being a hero is: looking good!" All Might then gestured to the containers that slid out from the wall. "These were designed for you based on your quirk registration forms and the request you sent in before school started.

Everyone cheered with hyped up enthusiasm and excitement.

"Get yourselves all dressed up and meet me at Battle Ground Beta!" All Might instructed.

Everyone grabbed their costume compartments and rushed down the halls toward their respective change rooms. Hailey was so excited to see how her costume turned out, as it took her a lot of time and effort to come up with the concept for her first hero costume.

"Jeez, this is harder than what I thought it would be." Hailey groaned in frustration as she erased the sketch that she just made.

"Are you still working on that?" Yuri scoffed in amusement, looking up from his phone as he laid on the beanbag chair in Hailey's room.

"Well the deadline for the entry of my hero costume is next week and who knows how long it'll take for the mail guy to realize shit's important." Hailey grumbled. "I don't see you designing your skating costumes."

"Because I look good in anything, and I'm not into your hero shit." Yuri shrugged.

"Yeah, snowflake over there wouldn't be a good hero anyways with his bad attitude and how he only uses his quirk to put on a performance." Luka teased, raising his eyebrows.

Yuri sat up, and gave Luka an offended glare, "Oi! Fuck off! My frost manifestation makes everything look like magic, which makes my performances look fucking amazing!"

"His frost veils look pretty dope, plus I'm pretty sure he could make a knife with it. Not that it was be lawful to stab people as a hero, but still." Hailey laughed. "Now just give me some ideas for my costume!"

"Don't go skin tight, not only because I know that the spandex is super uncomfortable, but I know that it really isn't your style." Yuri suggested.

"Unless you wear a leather jacket with it, ooh and maybe knee-high boots, would look badass." Luka added.

"I like the long boots idea." Hailey agreed and added the idea to her sketched base. "I know that some heroes have seasonal outfits, one for the warm ones and one for the cold ones, so let's assume that since the semester starts in April, that this will be just my warm outfit."

Luka then got an idea, "Oh! Oh! Do a sleeveless cloak, those look really cool."

Hailey's eyes lit up, "You are so right! That is dope! Add a belt and detached sleeves, maybe those gloves that don't cover my fingers!" Hailey then felt the inspiration flowing from her mind and from her pencil to the paper.

"Add turquoise, just for the outlines, that way it'll match your quirk and you can still be in the trio." Yuri contributed, trying to sound like he didn't care, but the other two knew that he was a crappy actor.

"Add a visor, would complete the look and I know how much you need to be reminded about how much your heart is beating, maybe add other stats." Luka suggested.

"Wow, that is such a good idea! You guys are literal geniuses, I might not survive without you." Hailey grinned cheekily as she looked down at the finished outline with satisfaction. "Now can you pass me my markers?"

"I really like your costume, Roselle!" Ashido exclaimed in excitement, as she noticed Hailey place her turquiose tinted visor on her face. "It looks like you're a real pro already!"

"You think so?" Hailey asked, feeling a bit sheepish as she turned in the mirror.

Asido nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah! Your designer did a great job! I'm loving the turquoise patterns, are they glowing?"

"No, it's just the colour I think, wouldn't it be dope if it glowed when I used my quirk? Damn that is a major oversight!" Hailey groaned in dismay.

"I think that'd be a little much for your first costume while we're still first years." Uraraka chimed in, awkwardly.

"True enough." Hailey agreed, "Can I just say that I love both of your costumes too? Like those colours suit you guys, also you really rock those styles."

Uraraka blushed in a bit of embarrassment, "You think so? I was kinda of worried, guess I should have been more specific about what I wanted."

"Maybe, but I think it works for you. Maybe you'll be able to make some changes later on." Ashido guessed.

The girls began to walk towards their destination, still continuing their small talk about their costumes and their thoughts on their classmates.

Upon entering the area and joining their classmates, their giggling ceased and the aura around them made them feel oddly powerful and confident.

"They say that the clothes make the pros, young ladies and gentlemen- behold! You are the proof!" All Might exclaimed as he caught sight of the students entering the area.

Hailey glanced at her classmates, paying attention to their costumes. In doing so, she made a sudden realization.

'All of my classmates - except grape man - are literally ten times hotter and more attractive than me.'

Suddenly, Hailey nearly avoided bumping into Midoriya, who she recognized by the surprised squeak he made when he took notice of her. Sure it was handy and super cute, but Hailey hoped that he would stop being so embarrassed around her soon enough.

"Oh my gosh!" Hailey lit up with glee as she noticed the details of Midoriya's costume, "You're costume is my favourite thing! You look like a bunny!" She then stood up on her tiptoes and touched the 'ears' on Midoryia's costume.

"Th-Thanks Roselle! My -uh- mom made it for me." Midoriya confessed bashfully.

Hailey's heart swelled with pure joy at Midoriya's adorable behaviour, "That's so great, I'm sure she must be super proud of you for getting where you are! And better yet, you're wearing something in honour of her!"

Midoriya nodded with a smile on his face, "Yeah, she's been doing her best to support me." He then took notice of Hailey's costume. "I like you're costume too, I think it looks really cool!"

"Aw thanks, my pals back home helped me out with a lot of the design. I was worried that it be turned into something that made me look stupid." Hailey chuckled.
