Ch.30 Starting Internships
"Alright, you should be good to go. I won't waste my breath in telling you to ease back into things, because I know you're excited to jump into your internship." Recovery Girl stated as she finished using her quirk to heal Hailey's shoulder.
"I'll try my best." Hailey tiredly smiled, as most of her stamina was drained from Recovery Girl's quirk. "Thanks, Recovery Girl."
"Just doing my job." Recovery Girl responded as she hopped off the bench that she used to get closer to Hailey's height, even if she was sitting on one of the beds. "You can rest here for the remainder of the school day."
Hailey nodded her head, not having enough energy to motivate her to argue and join training.
Recovery Girl told the student that she would be right back as Hailey laid down. She left the room, shutting the door behind her.
"You're brooding." Recovery Girl remarked to the taller teacher who was leaning against the wall beside the office door.
"I'm not brooding." Mr Aizawa retorted, "How is her shoulder?"
"She somehow dislocated it, but I was able to reset and heal it properly. You wouldn't know how her shoulder got dislocated, would you?" Recovery Girl answered, but looked back to the door.
"She said that a student ran into her before lunch, and that she was in pain since then. I think she was trying to hide it so she didn't worry her classmates." Aizawa guessed, also gazing at the door that separated the two adults from the student in question.
Recovery Girl let out a sigh, "That girl is so much like her mother. Stubborn."
"Just in different ways." Aizawa added.

The week of internships began. The students of Class 1-A stood before their teacher at the train station.
"Everyone has their costumes, right?" Mr Aizawa checked, "Remember, you don't have permission to wear them in public yet. And don't lose them or anything."
Hailey clutched hers in her hand, assuring herself that no, she didn't forget the briefcase, along with her school bag that was slung over her newly healed shoulder.
"Gotcha!" Ashido exclaimed, happily holding her case above her head.
"Speak properly! It's 'yes, sir', Asido." Mr Aizawa corrected.
"Yes sir." She pouted.
"Make sure you mind your manners with the other heroes during your internships. Now get to it." Mr Aizawa concluded.
"Yes sir!" The class replied.
Hailey and Todoroki glanced at Iida specifically as the other students dispersed to find their trains. Midoriya and Uraraka tried to call out and catch up to him
"Something about Iida isn't sitting well with me." Hailey quietly commented to Todoroki. "He's heading to an internship in Hosu."
"Are you thinking that he chose that place because of what happened to his brother too?" Todoroki inquired.
"Part of me wants to assume it's a coincidence, but I think we both know that there's not many other explanations that say otherwise." Hailey responded. "Anger can turn people into ugly monsters if they let it consume them, so I hope Iida can stay on the right path."
Todoroki didn't answer or add anything.
Hailey then gestured with her head for Todoroki to follow her, "C'mon, we better find the right train."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turns out that Ashido, Kaminari, and Hagakure had also chosen to go to Hondashu for their interships, so the classmates all sat together during the train ride. Todoroki had separated from the group once close enough to Endeavour's agency. The group all continued to walk until they were in the courtyard that lead up to the entrance of a humungus facility.
"Welcome to Hondashu!" Hailey grinned as she pushed open the doors into the building. "The agency that hopes to spark your story and push you in the right direction!"
The scenery of the lobby was familiar to Hailey, so while her classmates were in awe, Hailey was filled with pride. The clean, shiny white marble, flooring, light peach coloured walls, on a large portion of the wall by the staricase was decorated with a portrait of Hailey's grandparents in their prime of their hero career.
"Woah, I feel like I'm in a fancy museum." Hagakure commented.
"Well, you could consider that we plan to make history here, so this is the before."
Hailey's grin widened as she spotted her mother walking down the stairs, a dramatic entrance that she approved of.
"I wanted to see you interns and greet you myself." Melodie smiled as she approached the group of students. "I'm sure my daughter has been talking this place up, so hopefully we can reach your expectations. I'll be giving you the tour and let you be the judges of what you think of Hondashu."
Hailey's classmates made comments of amazement to each other about their surroundings and excitement to see more.
"Follow me." Melodie instructed, gesturing with her hand as she lead the group to the secretary's desk. "In case you don't already know, I'm Melodie Roselle, I run things around here at Hondashu. I started this agency coming up to four years ago, on the basis of offering upcoming and current heroes the opportunities of different career paths. Here, we specialize in almost everything, from support gear and costumes, to recon and rescue training. We have plenty to offer students of all departments."
"Oh, so even students who aren't in the hero study could intern here?" Ashido inquired.
Melodie nodded, "Yes, as you all know, some quirks aren't flashy or destructive enough to get them into the hero course by some standards. Take your homeroom teacher, Erasure Head, not flashy, but very useful to cancel a person's quirk. Without performing well in the entrance exams or getting in through recommendations, some dreams of becoming a hero get crushed. Here, I want to change the quota of how heroes get started."
"So we might be seeing students from other departments." Hailey sighed, immediately hoping that her mother didn't make an offer to that Shinsou guy from the sports festival, or Monoma from Class 1-B.
"That's right, though depending on what interests you, you may or may not be working alongside them." Melodie pointed out. "Anyways, this is the entrance desk. Whenever you come in for your internship, you'll come check in with either Remna or Zadian, whoever is working the front desk. If you need any directions or updates on where your advisors will be, you can direct your questions to either of them."
The short, dark purple haired individual stood up and smiled at the students. Their attire was a bit punk rock fashioned, a long earring with a cross hung from the one side of their ear and a black choker was around their neck, but other than that, they were dressed in a grey dress shirt with black dress pants.
"Hey, I'm Zadian, the secretary on call during the day. Remna works the nights, so if you happen to see her, try not to make small talk, she likes getting to the point." They greeted in a friendly and easy going tone.
"That's a nice way of saying that she's a bitch." Hailey whispered to Ashido, who tried to suppress a giggle.
Hailey enjoyed talking to Zadian, they were more easy to talk to whenever she had to wait in the main lobby for her mother. Remna on the other hand, had a 'don't talk to me if it isn't important' vibe to her, which would be ironic considering secretaries are supposed to be friendly and helpful, at least, you'd assume.
"Now if you'll follow me, I'll show you to the specialty floor." Melodie then gestured for the students to follow her up the stair case, then up the left side of parted stairs.
"Those are my grandparents." Hailey pointed to the portrait as they passed it.
"Woah, so that's Speed Wave?" Asido commented in awe.
"Yep, in their prime." Hailey answered, very prideful. "I think they were the number two and three ranked heroes in that picture."
"Wow, Midnight wasn't kidding when she said you had a big legacy to follow." Kaminari remarked.
"Yeah, no kidding." Hagakure added.
"This floor is reserved for each department of hero works, we divided it into three sections; support equipment, mission management, and PR. Kind of like what your school has for departments. The lab for support equipment is down this left wing, that'll be the largest room on this floor for good reason, while on the right wing is where the offices for hero managers and where we receive intel about missions then send heroes out based on their qualifications. Get familiar with this floor, since this is where you'll be expected to report to in certain situations." Melodie explained, gesturing to the respective rooms.
"Pardon me, ma'am." A tall man politely interrupted, approaching the group.
"All alright, Trimelli." Melodie assured.
Trimelli was a tall, slim man with silver hair that was neatly swept to his left. His pale skin was covered by his hero costume, which consisted of light colours of blue, yellow and black on his body suit and his mask.
"You're expected to be in a meeting with two other agencies this afternoon, I can take over giving the students the tour." He offered.
Melodie nodded, "Thank you, I'll be off then."
"Bye mom." Hailey meekly waved as her mother made a brisk exit from the building.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I assume that about covers all that there is to show you." Trimelli concluded as he led the students back to the lobby after showing them the training facility on the south side of the building. "Now that you've been acquainted with Hondashu and what it has to offer, you may choose where you would like to focus your efforts; rescue or combat covert missions."
"I wanna do covert missions, beat up some bad guys!" Kaminari exclaimed excitedly.
"Ooh! I wanna try my hand at rescue!" Hagakure cheered.
"Hailey, you have a different program planned for you." Trimelli pointed out to Hailey before she could answer for herself.
"What? Why?" Hailey questioned, feeling confused as to why.
"Your mother already decided, I am only the messenger," Trimelli answered, then continued. "Be here at six in the morning sharp tomorrow, as it will be an important day. Otherwise, you are free to continue looking around the facility where you have permissions or return to your hotel rooms that Honashu has already paid for."
With that, Tremilli walked off, leaving the students to their own devices.
"Hey, why do you think your mom's not putting you in the same program as us?" Ashido questioned Hailey, who had a very confused look on her face.
"I'm not sure if it has anything to do with me being the CEO's daughter or the only person who came here with an offer." Hailey sighed, not really sure about the answer herself. "I'm gonna have words with my mom about it, because I'd rather not be by myself and enjoy this stuff with you guys."
"So where's this hotel that we get to stay in? Is it five stars? This place could afford five star hotels." Kaminari inquired.
"Uh, I think it's the one we passed a few blocks down, the one with the flamingo on their sign." Hailey answered, "At least, that's where mom usually puts the students."
"Oooooh! That one looked so fancy! I wanna head back there and enjoy that!" Hagakure squealed with delight.
"Me too!" Kaminari grinned.
"You coming too, Rosie?" Ashido asked Hailey.
"I'm gonna stay back and ask my mom about the whole situation, but I'll see you guys there." Hailey assured.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hailey sat on the couch in her mom's office, the desk and large window that overlooked the facility and part of the city behind her.
It was about 5:34 pm by the time her mother walked into her office.
"You're giving me a look." Her mother stated as she shut the door behind her and walked over to her desk.
Hailey turned to look at her mother, "Why am I not allowed to be in either of the programs that my friends are? Is it because I was the only one who got an offer to be here?"
"Partially, yes, but Enji made a proposition that I agree with." Melodie answered.
"What kind?" Hailey inquired, feeling suspicious.
Melodie sat in her desk chair, "That going on patrols with him as Endeavour would be more fulfilling for your education as a hero. He is ranked as the #2 hero and experience doesn't get any better than that."
"So you weren't even going to ask me if that's what I wanted?" Hailey asked, a bit offended that this decision about her wasn't even including her opinion.
A sigh left her mother, "Sorry, but I know that you don't know what you want to specialize in yet and Enji can help you by throwing you head first into this stuff. Plus, Shouto will be there, and I know that you two are working on getting close again. I assumed that you wanted to work with him during the night patrols."
Hailey let out her own sigh and paused before giving her mother a final answer.
"Fine, but I get be here during the day, right?"
Her mother nodded.
