Xiao Zhan (Wei Ying)

He is 24 years old, born in China, but lived in America until he moved back to China for his father's new job. He is not interested in many things, is often bored, and found it very difficult to make friends in America. He didn't want to study. Even if he wanted to, he didn't know what he wanted to study or achieve in the future, but since he liked painting and thought history could be exciting, he decided to study it partly to make his parents happy. He was talented and had no problem bringing home good grades.

Once in China, he went to college to retake the last year because he couldn't take the exam in America due to a car accident. He thought it would be difficult to adjust to his new home, but surprisingly it wasn't. He quickly made friends and, although it was confusing and unexpected, he fell in love. Everything was perfect, but he still felt that something was missing.

Wang Yibo (Lan Wang Ji)

He lived a very, very long and successful life, longing for the rebirth of his beloved. When he found that time was passing too slowly, he decided many, many years ago to live in seclusion in the house he shared with his beloved, leaving only once in a while. He made sure that no one could ever approach him or find him, except for the remaining three most beloved people in his long life.

One day, his cold heart began to beat strongly again, filling him with warmth. Sure that his beloved had returned, he decided to leave his seclusion more often to build a real life where he could welcome his beloved with open arms. When the time finally came, he found it difficult to communicate because his beloved had completely forgotten him.

Wang Haoxuan (Xue Yang)

He is 19 years old and a freshman in college, far away from home and his very strict parents. He's studying psychology because it's a subject with the highest percentage of women, ready to mingle and have fun while earning a good degree for a hopefully successful life. He used to have a dorm room to himself, which changed when Xiao Zhan arrived and became his roommate. They quickly became friends.

Life was good and enjoyable, but for some time now, he has been getting very annoyed with a certain senior at school who seems to have it in for him. Wherever he is, his senior is there. He is watched by him and reprimanded for any misbehavior, no matter how small. He tries his best to get rid of him, or at least keep a distance, which turns out to be impossible, which annoys him even more, especially while he's chasing the girl of his dreams, a girl he can't find no matter what.

Song Ji Yang (Xiao Xingchen)

He is 25 years old and in his last year of college, studying law. His life was as normal as anyone else's until one day, while showing a potential new student around, he remembered his past life, especially the man he loved but left behind to become a seer. Feeling extremely guilty for leaving him behind, he vowed to make it up to him. He decided to stay with him forever, watching over him and secretly longing for him, while the other had no memory of him and would never have. Although Ji Yang deserved the heartache, it still made him unhappy to see his beloved chasing after women. So he started to take matters into his own hands and became quite obsessed with him.

SUPPORTING CHARACTERS

Yu Bin/Paul (Wen Ning)

He is the 39-year-old neighbor of Xiao Zhan who came into the life of the 5-year-old Xiao Zhan when he was 17. They hit it off and Paul taught Xiao Zhan Chinese and became his guardian, protecting him from any danger. Xiao Zhan spends a lot of time at his home, which has a huge garden full of bunnies, all of whom seem to be obsessed with Paul.

Anna and Michael Smith

Michael Smith is an American professor of English and literature and Xiao Zhan's biological father. Out of nowhere, he receives a new job offer in China to teach at a prestigious university. Using his connections, he is able to get Xiao Zhan into a college during the school year, even though he has not sent in any applications.

Anna Smith is an American nurse and loved her miracle son like nothing else. She gave birth to Xiao Zhan, which made people gossip that she had cheated. Xiao Zhan looked like his great-grandfather, the last Asian-looking member of the family who had once immigrated to America. Anna was convinced that Xiao Zhan's guardian angel, who had saved little Zhan's life in the past, would return one day. She also made sure that Xiao Zhan would never take the necklace off, convinced that it would protect him from harm.

Baoshan Sanren (Seer)

She is the oldest and most famous seer who lives on a heavenly mountain in the immortal realm, secluded from the rest of the world. According to the wishes of the goddesses, she keeps an eye on Xiao Zhan, although she feels that this is not necessary as the goddesses do it quite well.
