Chapter 6: The teacher
Finally, I am back. I am not often sick but when I am, it takes a while for me to get better. Thank you soo much for all your get-well wishes <3 <3
Let's jump straight to the sixth chapter, shall we?
Xiao Zhan's POV
Haoxuan wasn't kidding when he said that girls flocked to this class. At least 85% of the students were female, and they were all talking to each other in a rather excited tone. I could barely understand what they were saying, but it wasn't necessary. The constant giggling of the girls said it all. It was a little annoying, and a glance at the few male students told me that I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Well, their annoyance was probably mainly due to the fact that the ladies paid no attention to them.
"I told you..." Haoxuan grinned and looked at the girls.
"Are they really all here just for the teacher?"
"Of course!" Hearing his answer, I was a bit annoyed. History was an interesting subject, but they didn't care about it and only attended it because of a stupid teacher. Sure, a good teacher was necessary for us to learn something, but the students weren't excited about the subject at all.
"Hey you, are you new here?" A girl sitting in front of me asked curiously.
"That depends... have you seen me before?" I asked back and she shook her head with a smile.
"Someone as pretty as you wouldn't have gone unnoticed."
"Well, I must be new then, right?" I replied with a smile.
"I thought so. Hey, Haoxuan, looks like you've already taken the new one under your wing, right?"
"Sure did. We good-looking guys have to stick together."
The girl laughed before she turned to me. "Well, if you need a change, you can always come to me. By the way, what is your name?"
"Xiao Zhan. Thank you, if I get bored, I will take you up on your offer."
"That won't happen. You'll never get bored with me. And you, keep your hands off my friend. You don't have to look for your next victim just because the teacher doesn't give you the attention you want."
"Say the one who is constantly checking out other girls." The girl rolled her eyes before leaning closer to me. "Be careful with him. For a few days now he has been flirting with several girls and even kissing them, only to drop them like hot potatoes afterwards. He is a real heartbreaker."
She turned back to Haoxuan. "My roommate is still not over your rejection."
"She wasn't the one." Haoxuan shrugged.
"You're a real masterpiece, aren't you..." The girl frowned. "Maybe I am the one then?" She rolled her eyes, making it clear what she thought of Haoxuan's antics.
"We can check after class." Haoxuan grinned and the girl huffed before turning around and ignoring him. I gave Haoxuan a side-eye.
"What is this all about?" I asked him. "Are you sure you're not a pervert?"
"I am not. I am just looking for my future girlfriend." He replied and frowned at me. "I'm really not a pervert! Don't look at me like that!"
"Whatever you say..." I didn't believe him at all.
Suddenly the whole classroom fell silent. "I'll explain after class." Haoxuan whispered quickly before turning his attention to someone entering the classroom. I followed his lead, thinking that the teacher must have arrived, but instead of him, another student entered the classroom. Not just any student, but one who had my attention since I first saw him in the forest days before. And just like then, the colors around him were gray. I really tried to see another color, but I quickly gave up because it was useless.
The whole class was watching him, and if I had been in his place, my whole face would have looked like a tomato. But this guy, Wang something, didn't seem to mind at all. I quickly scanned the room to see where he would be sitting. There were three empty seats, one right behind me, and I was hoping he would take that one, just so I could get a closer look at the colors.
Imagine my surprise, or rather shock, when this guy did not approach any of the empty seats, but instead went to the front of the class, right behind the teacher's desk. He didn't spare us students a glance as he opened his book, turned to the board, and began to write. Suddenly, the classroom was filled with the sound of rustling paper as everyone opened their books.
"Tang Taizong" All he did was say the name of one of the greatest Chinese emperors and yet the air in the room changed. I watched as the colors around the students changed as well. All the pink and some reddish colors indicated their infatuation with the guy standing in front of everyone. Some had colors that showed they were jealous as well, mostly male students of course. Only a few students hadn't changed their colors, including Haoxuan.
But I had to admit that this guy had a nice voice. It was deep and steady, expressing a hint of strength and dominance. No wonder everyone was quiet. I doubt anyone would want to pick a fight with him. Especially when he looked so fit. Though he didn't move much, even the slightest movement showed the muscles dancing under his white shirt. I could understand why the girls had a crush on him.
I slowly turned to Haoxuan. "Wasn't he a student? When did he become a teacher?"
"Do you know him?" He whispered back.
"I saw him when I came here a few days ago. Ji Yang said he was also the school president, so I thought he was a student. Can a teacher become the school president?" I asked, looking at the students who were watching our teacher like they were in a trance. I guess with the way everyone reacted to him, it was possible to make him the school president. Never underestimate the power and wrath of women in love.
"He's a student." Haoxuan whispered. "But also a teacher. Here is the thing. He is studying to become a teacher and is currently going through his teacher training. So even though he is a student, during his training we have to see him as a teacher and treat him accordingly. During classes he should be seen as a real teacher, while outside of classes we can treat him as a student. If he allows it. He is quite strict and as far as I know he likes to be alone. If it's related to his classes or homework, you can ask him anything at any time, but anything else will be punished with a glare. I know what I am talking about, I once asked him if he had a girlfriend and for a moment I thought he was going to strangle me." He shook his head, remembering that part of his past.
"What was his name again?"
"Wang Yibo."
I nodded slowly as I watched the grayish colors dance around him. I really wanted to know what was going on with those colors, but I couldn't just go and ask, could I? Forget talking about something that only I could see, I didn't want to make my teacher hate me on the first day. Besides, I was pretty sure that if he started to hate me, the rest of the school would, too, at least the girls. I still had to stay here for a few months until I graduated, so making an enemy of everyone was a bad idea.
"He doesn't seem very friendly, does he?" I asked Haoxuan, noticing that Wang Yibo never once looked at any of the students.
"I don't know. All I know is that he is strict and tends to be alone. He might be shy and introverted." Although this sounded plausible, I did not believe it. I might not know him, but I had a feeling that he wasn't a shy person at all. But he was certainly strict. During class, he caught a student on the phone and took the phone away. No warning, no request to put the phone away, nothing. He just took it away and said he could have it back after the exam in two weeks.
At the end of class, a few girls started to argue about who would help clean the blackboard, but all it took was for Wang Yibo to close the book a little too loudly, and it was quiet again. Then he turned around and cleaned the blackboard himself. If you thought the girls would be sad, you were wrong. They looked especially pleased, and I could understand why, as I was amazed to see his muscles dancing under his shirt as he cleaned the board. Honestly, even I was a little jealous now. He looked like a real man, while I looked like a weak young girl. But I would rather die than work out as hard as Wang Yibo. It was enough for me to be able to eat whatever I wanted without gaining much weight.
"Hey, what are you doing? Class is over." Haoxuan snapped me out of my thoughts. Looking around, the teacher was gone, as was almost everyone else.
"Right." I stood up and turned to him. "How about you explain yourself before I ask for a new roommate?"
He looked confused for a moment. "I told you, I'm not a pervert."
"Then what?"
"Let's go to our room."
"You have classes."
"Yes, but I won't go to them. Come on, let's go."
"These are your grades." I shrugged and walked ahead of him.
"Attendance is not mandatory for this one. Besides, it's my first year. I can afford to get a few bad grades. God, you sound like my parents..." He complained as he followed me back to our room.
"You're crazy!" I told him, shaking my head. When we arrived at our room, which I thought was annoyingly far away from the building where the classes were held, he tried to justify his reasons for behaving like a pervert. And as I expected, there was no justifiable reason.
Apparently, a few days ago, he and a group of other students were playing Spin the Bottle, where he was challenged to sit in a dark closet and wait for one of the girls to follow him to have some fun. One did and kissed Haoxuan. But he didn't know who it was, and the others all said that no one followed him into the closet. Now they either call him crazy or think there was a damn ghost involved.
Haoxuan wasn't having any of that and actually kissed all five girls who participated in the game, only to find out that none of them was the girl he kissed. And why was he so obsessed? Because, according to him, it was one hell of an amazing kiss that he still dreams about. Now he is determined to kiss every girl in this school until he finds the one.
I agreed with the others. Haoxuan was definitely crazy!
"You can just ask. There is no need for you to jump on every girl for a kiss. That sounds to me like you are a pervert."
"I am not! And I have asked around and even put a message on the bulletin board, both in the lounge and on the website, but no one has come forward except for a few girls I have already sorted out."
"Maybe she doesn't want to be found? Just forget it, it was a stupid game. Seriously, kids these days."
"Don't make it sound like you're so much older than me. Besides, it might be stupid for you, but for me it was the best kiss I've ever had!"
"And how many have you had?" I rolled my eyes.
He grinned. "A lot. I mean, look at me. I'm handsome, no, I'm hot. Of course a lot of girls have a crush on me. Even in middle school I couldn't protect myself from my admirers." He frowned. "If it wasn't for my stupid parents who always interfered when I wanted to date, I would have had a girlfriend long ago. But these two think my studies are more important. As if!"
"'You're arrogant." I shook my head in disbelief when I heard how he thought of himself. Sure, he was handsome, but not enough to show off like that. Even Wang Yibo was hotter than him.
"I'm just telling the truth. Just wait. Even if I have to kiss myself through the whole school, I will find my woman sooner or later."
"Maybe she doesn't want to be found? Or maybe you just hallucinated? Or better yet, maybe she really was a ghost. That would explain why she hasn't come forward."
"Oh, come on. You believe in ghosts? How old are you?"
"Old enough to know that if you act like this, sooner or later you will get into trouble."
"Have you ever been in love? Because if you had, you wouldn't be mocking me."
"It was just a kiss, Haoxuan. You can't fall in love with that."
"But I did." He shrugged and walked over to the board with all the names on it. He wrote some of them down on a piece of paper. "If you will excuse me now, I have things to do."
He turned and left the room with a grin.
"Is he really 19 years old? More like 9." I sighed and looked down at the board. I could just wash all these names away so he could concentrate on his studies, but who am I to destroy his hard work?
"If you get in trouble one day, don't come to me for help." I muttered before letting out a yawn. "Anyway, I need a nap."
I made myself comfortable and closed my eyes. I don't know how long I slept, but I was awakened when the door to our room was opened with a jerk and a cursing Haoxuan entered the room.
to be continued...
Haoxuan already caused trouble? Oh well...
Anyway, who wants to see a firework? *raising my arm*
