Chapter 8-Edited

Chinmayi's POV:

"Bade-papa" , spoke Anirudh after a long pause, "Jo hogaya so hogaya. Aap hi kahte hai naa, sukh aur dukh jeevan ka swabhaav hai aur hum Bhagwaan kho hi sahaara maankar iss paristhithi se bhaahar aana hai. Please do not worry, Bade-Papa. Dr. Joshi is an extremely experienced doctor and Dr. Eeshwar, even though he's an intern, he is good too.  Everything will definitely be fine. It's all a play of time."

Anirudh was right. It has happened and we have to face it. We cannot delude away with the sway of emotions and tears. We have to stay positive and trust in doctors and of course God.

"Aap log bhi aayiye, mein khaana parosthi hun."

"Nahi nahi Chinmayi, mujhe nahi chahiye. Thum Anirudh ko kilaao."

"Bhai, abhi abhi Anirudh ne bhataaya naa, woh teek hi kah rahaa hai... hame dheeraj rakhna hai, sab teek ho jayega. Ab aap khaana ko manaa math kijiye", papa told bade papa.

As everybody, now obediently sat for dinner in the visitor's room, I served the remaining chappathi and daal. This is what is the best in our family, when one falls, the other stands right beside to hold us all together. We share everything with each other, be it happiness or sorrow. And most importantly, this is what that has actually carved the "us" in us overcoming fears and molding the betterment.

I never knew that I could face the hospital scenario or curb the emotional side in me. But, it did happen and I was, along with my family, saw a dime of hope with respect to Bhai and Bhaabhi.

Veera's POV:

It's almost been a week since the incident occurred in our family. It was definitely the darkest days in the Sharma Mansion. Somehow I held myself responsible for this. But, Charan, Chinmayi, Papaji , Anirudh and Chaachi kept telling me that this was unpredictable and fate and I had no role to play.

Diya and Bhai were recovering, both of them were still in the hospital. Dr. Joshi suggested two months of bed rest for Bhai, considering his condition and for Diya, she had to undergo a small surgery and yes, she will be completely cured in a month.

Diya's parents and my family kept visiting the hospital every day. Ma became weaker and duller after seeing what had happened to her son and daughter in law. Chinmayi was of major help, considering the fact that she was an extremely emotional person, she threw her fears away and stood like a pillar.

She took the role of an elder sister for me and made sure I was physically and emotionally fine. She shuttled from hospital to home and vice versa so that Chaachi can take care of the family.

Anirudh too was of great help, especially taking responsibilities from Charan's shoulders, he was the one who paid the bills and bought the medicines.

Charan's got his last exam today and he told me that Megha was the one who made sure that he did well. Charan meekly confessed about Megha when he was trying to console me. She is Chinmayi's best friend and our neighbor. We've watched that girl grow and become what she is today, a beautiful girl with a beautiful soul, Charan will be safe and happy with her.

I took 2 weeks of leave from office and asked them to pause on the whole transfer thing. The company being extremely cooperative, understood my situation and approved to wait.

Dr. Eeshwar Joshi, who did his M.S, is interning in this hospital, under his father, is Diya's doctor. He again, was the one who counselled me to steadiness of mind. I usually never talk to anyone, and I am an introvert by nature, but with Dr. Eeshwar, somehow, I felt that he easily understood my silence.

He gave me confidence about Diya and Bhai. Not just that, he called up every once in a while to report their conditions to me and, his words were always consoling and soothing. Maybe, for the first time in my life, I made a friend. Dr. Eeshwar rekindled the fire of faith to believe in goodwill and most importantly, myself.

"Veera?"

I turned to look at the familiar face dressed in white coat embraced by a stethoscope.

"Dr. Joshi, hi, how are you?"

"Eeshwar, please, I've told you this a million times by now and yeah, I am doing good. " , he smiled.

"I'm sorry, Eeshwar, any news about Diya?"

"Yes, you can discharge both Mr. and Mrs. Vivek Sharma, they are good to go. "

That was not a news, that is our wish coming true, that is a blessing, That is, well, I don't know what to say, tears just pooled my eyes.

He pulled me and made me sit on a chair in the Visitor's lounge.

"Thank you-"

"Oh, no no, don't thank me, Sab Bhagwaan ki kripa hai... And, yeah I have instructed the medication and steps to be followed to Anirudh and your father.

Physiotherapy is required for 3 weeks for Mr. Vivek. Mrs Vivek is absolutely good to go. She may have headache sometimes and so I have prescribed some painkillers. Bland diet would do and keep giving both of them a lot of fluids. I thought of personally conveying this message to you Veera, that's why I came."

I smiled. The pain in my chest had vaporized and I felt calmer than ever. Anirudh ran towards me and hugged, sobbing on my shoulder.

"Veera, hum sab saath mein ghar jaane wale hai...

My eyes teared up as well.

"Ha, Anirudh, Sab kushal mangal..."

"Veera, God has listened to us na?"

I smiled and hugged him.

"Anirudh, I'll ask the nurse to get the discharge papers done, and yes, please let your family members know..."

"Oh, yes Dr. Joshi, Thank you Thank you for everything" , said Anirudh, still crying.

" Hey, no no, It's all your family's and Veera's prayers that made the magic." , Dr. Eeshwar said, with lots of modesty and smile.

Anirudh left to call everyone at home and inform.

"Can I meet Diya and Bhai now?"

"Oh, yes yes, Veera, you can meet them. Your sisters Chinmayi and Akhila are already there. "

" Thank you Dr. Josh-, I mean, Dr. Eeshwar. For everything, and I mean it. "

"It's my duty Veera, as a doctor and as a friend, I'm you friend na?"

I smiled and nodded.

"I've to go for rounds Veera. Take care and keep in touch. "

"Sure sure, Dr, Eeshwar. Please, carry on!"

And before I could turn around and start walking towards their wards, I heard a voice.

"Veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrraaaaaaaaa,

waaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit,

I'll also come. "

It was Charan. He would have finished his exam fast and would have flown his car to the hospital. Don't know how many traffic rules he'd have broken today but, yes, he's safe and alive and yes, from his smile and excitement, he'd have got the news from Anirudh.

Anirudh was panting behind Charan, failing to catch up to his speed. I waited for both my brothers to come me. We were all so happy and excited. That is what we were, a family, where everyone's role is important and valued. Tears befriended me again today, out of all the happiness I could ever have. Charan walked with his arms opened and hugged me tight.

"Hey, wait for me-" , shouted Anirudh.

We laughed and waited for him and all three of us embraced each other into a bear hug.

"Meine bola na, only Charan can scream on top of his voice in a hospital...", this time it was from Chinmayi.

Both of my younger sisters were standing  a little farther from where we three were standing.

On seeing Charan, Akhila ran towards him.

"Aa gayi, Charan "Bhaiyya" ki chamchi...", snorted Chinmayi.

"Me me me me me me me me.." bleated Charan, imitating Chinmayi making us all laugh.

Anirudh signaled both of them to come and joined us and yes, we did the New-gen Sharmas' group hug, in a hospital's corridor.

We were all back to normal, the hug, the teasing, the fight, the bond and most importantly, the love, it was what that held us all together.
